Which tours suit older travellers, or anyone who would rather take it gently?

Plenty of them, and you do not have to give anything up. Every trip we sell carries a physical rating from 1 to 5. The ones below are rated 1 or 2 — comfortable walking, small groups, and pick-up from the door of wherever you are staying.

Checked on 5 October 2026.

This comes up constantly and is almost never answered properly, so here is the plain version. Every trip on this site carries a physical demand rating from 1 to 5, set by the operator. A 1 or a 2 means short, flat walking with the option to sit it out, and the bus is never far away.

What makes a trip comfortable

  • Door-to-door pick-up. Nearly every trip here collects you from your hotel and brings you back, so there is no finding a meeting point with luggage.
  • Small groups. Most are capped at 20 to 24, and a few at 10 — you are never in a crowd of fifty.
  • The walks are optional. On a gentle trip the walking is short and flat, and nobody minds if you would rather sit with the view.
  • A real bed. The Safari range and the Tasmania trips above use permanent tents with twin beds, cabins or motels throughout.

If you are weighing up a specific trip, tell us what you are comfortable with and we will tell you honestly how it is paced — we would far rather place you on the right one.

A good place to start
