What are the best day trips from Perth?
The Pinnacles Desert is the one to do, and there are three ways to see it: at sunset with stargazing, with sandboarding on the Lancelin dunes, or both together. Margaret River is the other big day out. All of them collect you from your Perth hotel and bring you back.

Perth sits a long way from everything, which is exactly why the day trips are so good — a couple of hours out of the city and you are somewhere that looks like another planet. Every trip below includes hotel pick-up, so you do not need a car.

Which Pinnacles trip?
- Want the desert at its best and an early night? The sunset and stargazing trip leaves between midday and 2pm, so the whole day is not gone.
- Want the dunes as well? The sunset, stargazing and sandboarding trip does the lot, in a bus built to drive right into the Pinnacles.
- Travelling with people who would rather look than slide? The Margaret River day is relaxed throughout — food, wine and coastline.
One practical note on the sandboarding trips: the dune vehicles are not suitable if you are pregnant or have back trouble, so the Margaret River or sunset trips are the better pick there.
If you have longer than a day
North of Perth is where Western Australia really opens up — Monkey Mia, Ningaloo Reef and Exmouth. These run from Perth with everything included.
