Travel Writer & Video Program
Film your trip. Get up to 20% back.
We’re looking for travellers to help us capture real moments from our tours. If you're happy to film a short video while on your trip, we’ll refund up to 20% of your tour cost once you submit your footage and it meets the brief.
You don’t need any experience — just bring your phone, follow a simple guide we’ll give you, and send us the clips after the tour. We’ll handle the editing.
Important Note
Not everyone who opts in will be selected to film. During the booking process, you’ll have the option to express your interest. If we need footage from your particular tour, we’ll reach out to assign you a video brief before your trip begins.
If you don’t hear from us, that means we don’t need video from that departure at this time — but we truly appreciate your willingness to help!
What You Need
- Booked a tour through Lost in Australia
- Willing to film one assigned video brief (if selected)
- Submit footage within 5 days of your tour ending
- Use a phone that records in HD (1080p minimum, 4K preferred)
- Be okay with us using your footage on our website and socials
What You’ll Film
If selected, we’ll assign you one video task from the list below. You only need to complete that one to qualify for the refund.
How to Film Your Video
- Each video should be at least 1 minute long
- Speak! We want to hear your thoughts and reactions — even a few words go a long way
- Film in portrait mode (vertical) — ideal for social media
- Keep it casual — imagine you’re sending the video to a friend
- Feel free to turn the camera on yourself so we can see who’s recording
- You can:
- Hold the phone and film selfie-style
- Set it up and record yourself from the front
- Film from behind with your voice in the background
- No need to edit — just send us your raw clips
Your Assigned Brief Will Be One of These:
1. Food
Show breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Film how meals are cooked, served, and eaten.
Goal: Give a clear idea of what meals are like on tour.
2. Campsite
Film your tent or swag, the setup process, the vibe at night, or the morning atmosphere.
Goal: Help others visualise the camping experience.
3. Vehicle
Capture the bus or 4WD: inside, outside, on the road. Show the group, music, views, and your guide’s commentary.
Goal: Show the road trip experience between stops.
4. Guide Interview
Ask your guide a few casual questions — their name, where they’re from, what they love about the tour, or any funny stories.
Goal: Highlight the personality behind the trip.
5. Pick-Up & Drop-Off
Film your starting point, your luggage, and what you packed. Capture pick-up and final goodbyes.
Goal: Help future travellers know what to expect.
6. Friends & Final Thoughts
Film fellow travellers sharing their thoughts. Capture final group moments and record your own reflections.
Goal: Show the emotional side and friendships made on tour.
7. Reel Video
A 10–30 second highlight reel showing scenery, group moments, food, the vehicle, and general vibes.
Goal: Capture the energy of the tour.
Example: Watch on YouTube
