Kakadu Tours

Kakadu is amazing; we'll travel 4WD style, swim at waterfalls, camp under the stars, eat traditional bush food & learn about aboriginal culture! An amazing adventure and an unforgettable outback experience.

Listed as a World Heritage site due to its flora, fauna and cultural significance; Here you can find 10,000 species of insects, 280 species of birds, 117 species of reptiles, 60 species of mammals and 53 different species of fresh water fish. Kakadu in size is approximately 20,000 km's square, 2/3 the size of Belgium or Poland and is the third largest National Park in the world. It is the only national park to contain an entire river system within its boundaries; known as the South Alligator River.

Three primary landscapes divide Kakadu into seven plant communities which accommodate about 2000 different species of plants overall. The are more than 10,000 species of insects, 280 species of birds, 117 species of reptiles, 60 species of mammals and 53 different species of fresh water fish.

The indigenous Australians are the traditional owners who live in Kakadu National Park and have done so for more than 40,000 years. This is evident by the thousands of rock art paintings/carvings and dreamtime stories and legends that record the creation of the landscape and history of the inhabitants from pre-estaurine periods up to 20th century European settlement. The Aboriginal people are the original ancient hunters and gatherers who still live a semi-traditional lifestyle and play an integral role in land conservation and the management of this vast and intriguing wilderness.

Lost In Australia tours to this region offer a wide range of activities such as hiking, swimming, canoeing, 4WDing and exploring. Visitors will also learn about Aboriginal culture, wildlife and the natural environment.

“Top top end tour”

1st July 2026 - 3 Day Kakadu Tour

Travelled with my husband, our 19-year-old son and two parents in their 70s, and we all had a great time, learning so much about the country, the plants, animals and rock art. The swims in the falls were divine and it was wonderful to be so remote. Jeremy was an excellent guide, full of knowledge, who looked after everyone so well, and the accommodation in Kakadu was lovely. Highly recommend.

“5 Day 4WD kakadu/Koolpin safari”

1st August 2019 - 5 Day Kakadu & Koolpin Gorge Safari

We had an awesome five days in Kakadu. To our surprise we travelled in a luxurious seven-seat Land Cruiser with a camp trailer, in a small group of six plus our guide Russel, who was an exceptional driver and left us feeling safe on the rough roads. We spent five days hiking and swimming in the most beautiful gorges; my husband and I are in our mid-50s and had no problem climbing over the rocks, always rewarded with a cool swim. Russel was very knowledgeable about Kakadu's birds, plants, crocs and Aboriginal art, and there was plenty of good food, including a roast dinner. Camp facilities were good with a hot shower every night. Definitely bring good hiking shoes, sunscreen, insect spray, a head-torch and a camp pillow. Well worth the money — we wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

“Great Company, Wonderful Guide & Unforgettable Trip”

1st May 2019 - 3 Day Kakadu & Litchfield Safari

My family of four went on a private 4WD tour of Kakadu and Litchfield with Adam as our guide. Both parks were great, but Kakadu was exceptional — truly one of the crown jewels of Australia's national parks. Kat and Anthony were extremely caring and accommodating in planning the trip, and Adam was an outstanding guide: knowledgeable, fun and competent, with a real love and respect for Aboriginal culture and history. It took time, effort and money to get to the Northern Territory, but we were so glad we did. Would we go on another tour with Territory Expeditions? Absolutely!
