Using the beautiful Anbinik Kakadu Resort as our base, we will be immersing ourselves in the wilderness of Kakadu National Parl; enjoying the starry skies, fresh air, aboriginal culture and the plants and animals.
We'll discover some of the oldest and best preserved Aboriginal rock art in the world, keep a lookout for some of our prehistoric friends (crocodiles) as we cruise the ancient wetlands by boat. Visit spectacular waterfalls and cool off in some of the most beautiful natural plunge pools imaginable.

Itinerary
Day 1: Darwin – Kakadu National Park
Start your adventure by departing from Darwin and head out to the floodplains of the Mary River to join Corroboree Billabong Wetland Cruises. Here we have ample opportunity to spot a huge range of Top End Bird life and not to mention some fresh and salty apex predators… crocodiles!
We journey on to Kakadu National Park where our home for the next two nights in Jabiru awaits, the Bowali Visitor Center offers a beautiful introduction to the Park’s landscape and wildlife and we take time to soak it in, before checking into our local accommodation. We journey north to *Cahills Crossing on the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land, here we see crocodiles lining up along the East Alligator River where they and the locals hope to catch some barramundi! We then take you to one of the best-preserved collections of Aboriginal Rock Art in the world at Ubirr Sunset, this incredibly significant site showcases many styles of Rock Art and allows us to climb up high for a sunset that will blow you away looking out over the Nadab Floodplain. We head home back to Jabiru for dinner and an early night in preparation for the rest of the tour highlights.
*Cahill Crossing Infrastructure Upgrade – Construction of the new viewing platform will start on 5 May 2022 and is expected to be completed in 12-16 weeks. While the viewing platform will be closed to visitors during this period, the East Alligator (Erre) downstream boat ramp and the Manngarre rainforest walk will provide alternative options for visitors to enjoy croc spotting.

Day 2: Jim Jim or Twin Falls – Jabiru Return
Jim Jim or Twin Falls (seasonal access) are probably two of the most famous and stunning locations within Kakadu, depending on seasonal factors and cultural observations we will visit one of these amazing waterfalls situated at the bottom of an adventurous 4WD road. Please be aware, that access to the falls is seasonal conditions permitting. Picnic lunches are provided, we then hike out to the falls and enjoy plenty of time to cool off surrounded by thick monsoon forest. We head back home with a stop first at the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Center where you have time to delve into the culture of Kakadu and gain deeper insight into how the World Heritage Listed Park is managed.

Day 3: Jabiru – Pine Creek
This morning starts bright and early as we take you to one of the best sunrise spots in the park, the Nawurlandja Lookout before venturing off to explore Anabangbang Billabong. We then discover Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) Rock which houses fantastic Aboriginal Rock Art of the Bininj which we view at the Anabangbang Gallery before heading up for incredible views of Kakadu’s Escarpment from Kunwarddewardde Lookout.
Another 4WD track awaits us as we travel south and enjoy a picnic lunch at the plunge pool of Maguk, one of the most picturesque and pristine waterfalls in Kakadu. After our 2km walk and lunch, we head towards tonight’s accommodation in Pine Creek to relax and enjoy the local hospitality.

Day 4: Pine Creek – Darwin
Our last day of this epic adventure takes us to one of two amazing waterfalls for exploration and swimming. Depending on the time of year and access conditions we will either be visiting Edith Falls or Butterfly Gorge, both offer relaxation in picture-perfect Top End surroundings with clear water and a welcome chance to cool off! We then begin the journey back up towards Darwin along the Stuart Hwy, stopping at Adelaide River, a town steeped in history, we visit the Commonwealth Heritage Listed Adelaide River War Cemetery to learn of the World War II impact on this part of Australia. Returning to Darwin in time to freshen up and head down to the vibrant Mindil Markets to grab some delicious local food while watching the sunset after an action-packed 4 days in the Kakadu National Park.

Spent an excellent few days seeing the sights of the NT, including Kakadu and the Katherine region, on the 4 day tour from Darwin. Everything was well organised and Charlotte was a great tour leader. Would recommend to anyone wanting to explore the NT.
Just finished the 5-day Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield tour. Our guide Charlotte was welcoming and friendly and went out of her way to make sure everyone had a great time. An unforgettable trip for our family of four - we loved the waterfalls, swimming holes, boat rides, rock art, and sleeping in swags under the Milky Way.

A fantastic five days taking in Kakadu, Katherine, Nitmiluk and Litchfield. The scenery was incredible, and guides Leigh and Sanna were superbly organised, entertaining and full of knowledge about the region's nature, history, geology and culture. The camps were surprisingly comfortable given how remote they were, and the meals were delicious and healthy rather than the usual sandwiches. Absolutely worth every cent and can't recommend it enough.
The 5-day Kakadu, Katherine Gorge and Litchfield camping tour was seamless, informative and lots of fun, thanks to guide, driver and chef Charlotte. We did the 4 Day Kakadu Katherine Gorge Comfort Tour in mid-May 2026 with Autopia. The tour was amazing, very well organised, safe, comfortable and the best tour guide ever! We were lucky to have Dani as our guide, as a local born and raised in Kakadu, she had so much knowledge of the local culture, bush tucker, medicine, flora, and fauna. Becs was a wonderful and thoughtful tour guide for our four day trip to Kakadu, Edith Falls and Katherine Gorge (and everything in between). It is a full, busy, active and fun-packed trip (and our group were delightful). The comfortable, air-conditioned hotels at the end of each day were very welcome.

This was a fairly complete tour — we saw crocodiles, Aboriginal art and striking savanna landscapes, with an efficient, obliging guide. The Mercure hotel was fine for the location, but the Knotts hotel was very basic with no working wifi. The coach seats were narrow and didn't recline, though we had a small group so it wasn't too bad. Lunches were disappointing, with unwashed raw vegetables and skimpy portions.
Our tour took us around Darwin, Katherine and Kakadu with driver Dani, who was excellent - great driving skills and always on top of tour details. Her generous welcome to country, storytelling and local wisdom and humour made the trip really special. Highly recommend.
Toured the parks of Kakadu and Katherine Gorge - everything was perfect, with fascinating scenery, wild nature and a well-run schedule. Our guide Charlotte was an excellent driver, well organised down to every detail and knowledgeable on both culture and environment. The small group of 10 stayed close-knit thanks to Charlotte's ability to bring everyone together, and we even helped prepare lunch with fresh, varied food each day. Water, fruit and snacks were always available on the bus, and the Kakadu park accommodation was excellent. Highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Kakadu and Katherine trip from the 18th to the 21st of August. Kakadu is amazing, and our guide Dani made sure we packed in as much as possible over the few days. The cultural connection between the land and its people was the real eye-opener, and we'd have missed most of it without Dani and Autopia.

Kakadu and Katherine Gorge was the best tour I've done in Australia, though I wish it ran longer than 4 days. Our guide Dani was excellent, with deep knowledge of First Nations life, myths and law. Our whole group bonded quickly despite coming from very different backgrounds. A great way to understand the Northern Territory and its original inhabitants while seeing amazing scenery.
We loved the landscapes, plunge pools and rock paintings. Sharing the tour with others could be challenging at times, and having visited many of Africa's big parks we'd expected more wildlife, but this was a different and rewarding kind of experience.

A great trip. Dani was an excellent guide with so much cultural knowledge, and her extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna made the whole experience really fulfilling.
Perfectly organised, relaxed and well planned, with an amazing guide in Becs, who was warm, friendly, inclusive, intelligent and a very good driver. We were on time for everything yet never felt rushed. The food was delicious and the accommodation great, and we came home wanting to learn more about our country and its Indigenous culture.
An amazing tour. Our Autopia guide Becs was clever, caring, flexible, insightful and knowledgeable, and an extremely competent, safe driver. We were a mixed-age group of ten and she had time and patience for all of us. Everyone felt the same.
A very full itinerary that packed a lot into four days. Ethan was a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and energetic guide. We saw rock art, birds, crocodiles, rivers, sunrises, sunsets, towering cliffs, swimming holes and waterfalls, and met local Aboriginal people and learned about their history and culture.
Dani guided us on our 4 day Kakadu tour and we couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable, easygoing guide. We've done plenty of tours over the years and Dani ranks among the very best guides we've had.
On our 4 day Kakadu tour, guide Becs was enthusiastic and went out of her way to help everyone, especially older group members. Accommodation was great, from the Crocodile Motel to a decent motel in Katherine. My only gripes were the vehicle — a cramped 4WD bus with poor suspension, patchy air-con, and seatbelts uncomfortably tight for some. Even so, combined with a separate Litchfield day trip, I'd happily recommend Autopia.
Our guide Danni was very knowledgeable about life, plants and wildlife in the region, and always helpful in finding solutions when problems arose. The food was simple but sufficient, and special dietary needs were accommodated. The individual walks were short and not strenuous, though some sections are difficult for people with limited mobility, which was pointed out beforehand.

I went on the 4 day Kakadu / Katherine Tour with autopia. I was the only one who booked a camping site, which was inconvenient for the tour I think, so they gave me a free upgrade. The rooms were very lovely, clean, had airconditioning and towels.
One evening, we ate at the hotel restaurant. The other evenings the food was quite simple. I don’t eat meat and got pasta with a scoop of pesto one night. No vegetables at all. For lunch we had a salad once and mostly wraps with the left over vegetables from day 2.

Excellent trip. We managed to fit in a lot of activities throughout the day ……they were full days . The activities were varied, taking in many aspects of the countryside. Kakadu is a huge area so there is a lot of driving which allows you to catch up on a few zzzz. You didn’t go hungry …. The food was basic but heaps of it. Accomodation was good . There was only one tour guide who was run off his feet …..it was a job for 2. He was very knowledgeable about the culture and wildlife

We loved our Kakadu tour and thoroughly enjoyed all the sights and experiences offered. Our guide Jay was organised, thoughtful and totally professional in the way she catered for individual needs whilst keeping the group informed, entertained and having fun. Accomodation is fairly basic but perfectly clean and adequate, as was the food. The hiking isn’t strenuous but you do need a measure of agility to complete the rocky sections of the hikes and really make the most of the views and swimming spots. An amazing part of the world to learn about and explore.

This was a great trip. We visited amazing waterholes each day where we could swim and relax. All involved a bit of a hike over rocks to get to them so walking shoes and reasonable agility was needed. The cultural centres and rock paintings were fantastic too. We learnt a lot. What made the trip extra enjoyable was our guide Andrea. He was so passionate, knowledgeable and enthusiastic and made sure everyone in the group had a good time. I recommend this tour.
“Kakadu Escape”
It’s hard to go wrong with the magnificent locations chosen for this tour, but it was our guide that made the trip so memorable.
Ben’s passion for this country and its people was contagious. Rather than feeling like tourists, we felt like we were part of it all.

“Fantastic Kakadu tour”
We had a fantastic time on this tour with our wonderful guide Jay. This tour covers a huge area - Kakadu and south to Pine Creek. We saw Aboriginal rock art, beautiful sunsets and sunrises, lots of wild life and native trees, rock formations and swam in some great water holes. Jay was our driver, cook, and shared her comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Kakadu. We did a lot in the 4 days, and had lots of laughs. I thoroughly recommend this tour. Age is no barrier to going on it, provided you are physically fit and enjoy bushwalking.

“Fantastic way to see the best of the NT”
Such an amazing tour. Great value for money. I did the extra Litchfield day making the tour a total of 5 days. Jay the tour guide was amazing, what a boss chick. She went above and beyond looking after us. I was anxious coming into the tour as a solo female traveller, but immediately felt at ease after meeting Jay and the rest of the lovely tour group. I was also lucky enough to have a single room for the duration of the trip. The tour bus/4WD was spacious and comfy. The tour is well planned and allows you to see the NT's most beautiful highlights, despite the vast distance. Good options on hikes for the more adventurous VS those with less mobility. Food was basic but adequate. Accommodation very comfortable. Would highly recommend this tour to all.

The four day Kakadu trip was amazing! Andrea was the absolute best guide for the trip, bringing his love and enthusiasm for the region to every moment. He brought great knowledge about the region's flora and fauna, Aboriginal culture and the best ways to engage with each place/activity. “Kakadu adventure”
A really good way to get a feel of country in the Top End. Ben our guide was very knowledgeable and he was very passionate in his delivery, making the long miles travelled pass in a very informative and jolly way. Overnight accommodation at Anbinik Kakadu Resort was adequate and the food Ben rustled up was tasty and much appreciated after a long day, which included croc spotting on the billabong wetland cruise, a visit to a cultural centre to gain more insight into the traditional owners, country and culture, and a sunset walk around Ubirr which featured lots of amazing rock art. The ride down to Maguk on day 2 was interesting in the tour bus given she’d never ridden off road before, and after our first wild swim, as Ben wasn’t feeling too great, up popped Andrea in the 4WD to sweep us back to Anbinik for a bbq, ably assisted by crew member Becca. Day 3 we were up at the crack of dawn to witness a beautiful sunrise at Gurrungkuy and a short walk down to the Anbangbang billabong saw a couple of Jaberoos grazing amongst the huge flock of Great Egrets. We lunched at the start of the scramble to Jim Jim Falls after a loooong washboarded stretch of gravel and a crazy technical 10km off road to this very remote and special place. The trail to the waterhole was not for the faint hearted, although short, quite challenging, but the reward was magnificent and one could only feel very grateful to be in such a wonderful place. After Jim Jim was the long drive down to Pine Creek where the landscape changed on leaving Kakadu through the Daly River region and into Nitmiluk. We had excellent grilled barra at the local hostelry and a good nights sleep in en suite rooms. Day 4 we had another treat in store as we made an early getaway to enjoy the delights of Edith Falls. If wild swimming is your bag, then this trip is unmissable. It was great to learn more about country and the traditional caretakers of the land. Autopia did a great job and I would certainly travel with them again
“Fabulous Kakadu tour and outback experience”
Such a great tour to get a overview of Kakadu National Park. Ben was our guide and his wealth of knowledge and passion for this area and it's people provided an experience that gave more than your average tour. The small group adventure meant that we got to know some lovely people while hiking, swimming and sharing unforgettable experiences. Ben took great care to make sure that all tour members were comfortable and managing along the walks and provided good food for hungry hikers throughout the day.
The afternoon at Ubirr, walking through rock art sites followed by a beautiful evening sunset, was a highlight. Unfortunately conditions meant that we had to miss Jim Jim falls but the substituted Yellow Water Cruise was great for croc and bird watching. Swimming in the natural waterholes at Maguk and Edith Falls was so refreshing and the feel of summer after a cold Sydney winter was delightful.
Highly recommend this tour if you want a taste of outback Australia.

4 days in kakadu was fabulous! fantastic! With many many thanks to our tour guide - the best! Andrea's passion for the top end is fantastic and infectious. He's a knowledgeable, positive, organised and easy going tour guide and I really hope I can do another tour with him one day. My tips for other travellers: 1) on your hikes, take twice the water you think you'll need 2) jim jim falls is very worth it, but it is graded "difficult " for good reason.

From the moment our guide/driver Andrea (what a knowledgeable and joyful Italian man) drove us out of Darwin with a promise of Kakadu wonder waterfalls and Saltwater giants-not to mention his bolognese-(all delivered!) this was 4 days of being transported back to a timeless land and the oldest living continuous culture. The most interesting & enjoyable Australian holiday I have ever done. I along with my three children were celebrating my 80th birthday. Andreas the guide was just amazing with his impressive knowledge of indigenous culture and his obvious love of the areas we were traveling through and the places we visited. His attention to the groups needs were excellent with long but wonderful days.
“Top end tour around Kakadu”
First the bad news. The distances are great so there is a lot of time spent driving from place to place. No one’s fault. It’s just a function of the vastness of the area.
Now the good parts. Andrea, our driver/cook/host/guide was amazing. He has been in the territory for such a short time, but had an extensive knowledge of the area, the flora and fauna and above all of the history and the customs of the aboriginal people, about whom the Territory has revolved for 60,000 years or so. The accommodation was acceptable, the food was ok and the company was exceptional. I would recommend this adventure as a must do in the territory and Autopia as a great tour operator.

We felt very lucky to have the tour guide that we did. He had an impressive work ethic with cooking our meals and re-planning the itinerary when certain places were unavailable. Elderly and less mobile guests were well looked after. Our guide's knowledge on local flora, fauna, culture and history was also fantastic.
Vehicle was spacious and comfortable, as was the accommodation.
“Great Experience”
This tour was fantastic! Our guides Andreas and Tiffany were excellent. Andreas was so passionate about sharing his learnings and passing them on to us. Being a small group tour (13 people) in very comfortable 4x4 bus we had a very personable and at times quite flexible experience. Spending 4 days in Kakadu allowed us to see so much of the area.The group was made up of both couples and singles. We saw so much of Kakadu in the time we were there. Well worth doing.

You'd be a fool to book any other trip over this one. Make sure you ask for Ben as your tour guide! Ben made everyone feel comfortable and taught us so much about the land, culture and history without being overbearing or dull in the least bit. Really good tour that goes at a reasonable pace and you get to see so many brilliant sights in Kakadu. Ben is a terrific guide who shares the right amount of detail and is very aware of caring for all his group. It was a great experience all round. We loved it!
“A great small group tour visiting the sites in Kakadu”
We did a tour with Autopia for four days out of Darwin. The tour was excellent, we were a smaller group, and we were well taken care of. The tour was a good pace and there were plenty of time and each of the locations to see everything. The tour was a good mix of cultural, wildlife and activities and suited a lot of different interests.
Our tour guide (Ben) was fantastic. He was really knowledgeable and really took great care of us.

Lucky to be part of the first tour of the season with a great group of people - highlights included Ubirr sunset, Motorcar Falls hike and waterhole swim the Aboriginal Cultural river cruise, Warradjan Cultural Centre and upper Edith Falls pool swim. Our guide Ben was brilliant - good Aboriginal Cultural knowledge was flexible to the needs and wishes of the group - would highly recommend!
