What is the difference between the Uluru Adventure, Safari, Budget and Tour?

They are not grades of the same trip. Several different tour companies run trips out to Uluru and each names its own, so a “Safari” and an “Adventure” are not steps on one ladder. Compare three things instead: what you sleep in, how many days, and the price.

Checked on 5 October 2026.

This catches people out constantly, and the naming is not our doing: there is a 3 Day Uluru Safari at $979 and another 3 Day Uluru Safari at $995, and they are two different trips with two different camps. So ignore the name and read the row.

What the names actually mean

What each name tends to mean

  • Safari — the tented-camp trips. A permanent or furnished safari tent with a bed in it, rather than a swag on the ground. Runs 2 to 5 days.
  • Adventure — swag camping, with exclusive camps near Kings Canyon and Yulara that the bigger campgrounds do not use. 3 and 4 days.
  • Budget — the cheapest way in. Private campsites, and a permanent tent or a bush swag. 3 days.
  • Tour — swags, or a choice of swag and safari tent on the shorter one. 2 and 4 days.
  • The trap: two different trips are both called 3 Day Uluru Safari, at $979 and $995. Same name, different camps. The table below is the thing to read, not the title.

So which one should you book?

  • Cheapest that still does the lot — the 3 Day Uluru Budget at $729. Uluru and Kings Canyon, sleeping in a swag or a permanent tent.
  • You want a real bed — the Safari range. A furnished safari tent with twin beds, from $679 for two days.
  • You want the swag-under-the-stars night — the Adventure trips. That is the bit people come back talking about.
  • You have four days rather than three — the extra day is Kings Canyon done properly rather than at a jog. On the Adventure pair that step up is $60, from $759 to $819.
