We have a couple of different sleeping options available: For the more adventurous traveler, we have the traditional grassroots “basic swag” experience (Sleeping under the stars in a canvas-covered bedroll). If you’re after a more comfortable, private camping experience you can book our more comfortable permanent “safari tents” with mattresses.

An exceptional 4-day Red Centre tour. Jonny was an outstanding guide who struck the perfect balance between sharing information and letting us experience the landscapes and culture ourselves. The 4-day Uluru tour with guides Maya and Taylor was unforgettable - a well-planned program through spectacular landscapes. Maya shared extensive knowledge of Indigenous culture, history, geology and wildlife, while Taylor had a real gift for hospitality, with sunset drinks and nibbles at Uluru and a delicious curry at camp. Favourite moments included the Aboriginal Cultural Centre, the Kings Canyon Rim Walk and the West MacDonnell campsite. Full but balanced - just perfect.
The 4-Day Uluru and Kings Canyon adventure was fantastic - so many astounding experiences in four days. Highlights were the Garden of Eden in Kings Canyon, a swim at Ellery Creek Big Hole, and of course Uluru at both dusk and dawn. A truly unforgettable four days across Central Australia. Our guides Libbi and Femke were outstanding, Libbi answering every question with years of local knowledge and obvious passion, and Femke bringing wonderful energy to the group. “Fantastic 3-day tour”
Timely pickup from a great, well-positioned guide in Adrian. We glimpsed Uluru at sunset and sunrise and set off each morning at 4:30 to hike in pleasant temperatures, always with water and snacks on hand. The tents and mattresses were clean and comfortable, and the highlight was the Kings Canyon camp with its campfire and unforgettable starry night.
This three-night, four-day tour was fantastic value - Uluru, Kings Canyon and more, with swimming in secluded waterholes and sleeping in a swag under the stars. Our guide Mikki was an absolute five-star professional who made every moment enjoyable, full of great stories about the local people and a real sense of humour. An excellent experience led by Matt (Donk) and trainee guide Johnny. The tour was very well paced, which matters given the distances and heat, as well as safe and informative. We learned a lot and came away feeling we'd had a genuinely immersive taste of the Outback. Donk was an excellent leader and Johnny will make a fine guide once accredited.
“Adventure/ laughter/ amazing sights”
An unforgettable adventure, even with extreme weather. Our guide Mikki was exceptional, an engaging storyteller who stayed calm and professional. Heavy rain made some roads impassable and we even got bogged, but Mikki drove confidently through mud and water without a flicker of stress. Her positivity kept the group relaxed and well bonded, the food was great, the accommodation comfortable and the organisation excellent despite the conditions. Highly recommend, and Mikki deserves special recognition.

Went on the 4 Day Alice Springs Red Centre tour and it exceeded expectations - every stop was well chosen and stunning. Our guide was considerate and incredibly knowledgeable, really changing how we saw the landscape. As a vegetarian I worried about food, but every meal had good veg and vegan options plus a snack box always on hand. Don't usually do tours, but this one was 100% worth it.

Make no mistake, touring the Red Centre in January is tough: hot, with early-morning hikes over harsh terrain and remote outdoor camps. Even so the tour was amazing, and it all centred on our guide Mikki, who was absolutely outstanding. Her positive energy kept us going when the environment challenged us, and she shared insights and stories on Australian history, geology and Aboriginal culture. She set a positive, inspiring tone every day. An amazing tour.

We're in awe of our guide CJ and her trainee Mikki. On almost no sleep across four days, CJ never lost her enthusiasm, positivity, good humour or patience while managing a large group through hikes, meals and camps, and giving talks on flora, fauna, geology and Aboriginal culture, then answering every question that followed. Mikki was very helpful and a great cook, and clearly has a bright future. We saw breathtaking natural sites and sacred Aboriginal places and were introduced to the culture, a dream 35 years in the making that did not disappoint. It's a real Outback camping trip, so set your expectations for early starts, basic facilities and pitching in, and you'll have a wonderful time. Highly recommend, and request CJ.

If you really want to understand the culture and nature of the Outback, this is the tour. Plenty of food, great tents and a schedule adapted to the weather, but it was our guide CJ who made it truly special. Her infectious enthusiasm and genuine passion were remarkable; she was with us for three days, always contactable, even organised games on the bus, and somehow ran on almost no sleep while looking after everyone. Other guides along the way told us she might be the best in the Outback and we were lucky to have her. An unforgettable experience.
A truly amazing four-day Red Centre trip taking in Kings Canyon and the West MacDonnell Ranges - there's so much more to the outback than just Uluru itself. We were lucky enough to have Deon as our guide, on what turned out to be his final tour; he was full of insight on the history, culture, geography and wildlife, and gave us plenty of freedom to explore in our own time.

On friends' recommendation we booked the outdoor trip with Autopia. Our guide Adam was very experienced, with excellent knowledge of the local culture, geology and wildlife, especially birds, and left no question unanswered, always knowing exactly when and where to be for the highlights like wallabies. The tour was diverse, from Kings Canyon views to lovely swimming spots, the tented cabins were comfortable and the food varied and delicious. An amazing Red Centre adventure with spectacular scenery. We camped at some really unique and private sites, and the tents with beds were surprisingly comfy. An amazing experience in the Red Centre. The landscapes are unreal, almost like a film set, and we saw plenty of wildlife too: a splendid fairy-wren, wedge-tailed eagles and herds of wild horses and camels, often up close and seemingly unbothered by us. It was lovely to hear the birdsong in these sacred places, particularly in the Garden of Eden at Kings Canyon.

I did the 4 day, 3 night tour to Uluru from Alice Springs in March - a once in a lifetime experience made even better by Autopia. It was spectacular, one of the best experiences of my life. Despite a heatwave in what should've been autumn, our guide did a brilliant job keeping everyone cool and hydrated. Would definitely book another Autopia trip.

We were fortunate to have Jim (Jemima) as our guide and driver, and she was fantastic: passionate about showing off the Red Centre, reliable and safe at the wheel, full of great commentary and always making sure everyone was well looked after. The itinerary was well paced and covered the iconic sites beautifully. The camp facilities are very basic, so go in expecting simple safari tents and, on the last night, minimal amenities, but the excellent guiding and stunning scenery more than made up for it.

We joined the 4-day Red Centre tour and Lorrie guided us safely throughout, sharing a wealth of knowledge on the local people, geology, history, plants and wildlife in an interesting and amusing way. She was conscientious, superbly organised, close to nature and a very safe driver. We stayed in simple but clean tents amid wonderful scenery, twice at small bush camps with no one else around, and visited breathtaking, less touristy places. The food was simple and mostly varied with something for everyone. Thank you Lorrie for four wonderful days and unforgettable sunrises and sunsets.

Two weeks on from our 4-day Uluru camping adventure and we're still glowing. Our guide Lorrie awed us with the spectacular landscapes and taught us so much about the region's history and culture, her storytelling filling the long drives. She'd wake us before sunrise each morning playing 'Follow the Sun', which became the group's theme song. Evenings were spent chatting around the campfire under starry skies, and walking in the pre-dawn silence was magical. We took the trip for my husband's 80th birthday, and Lorrie quickly arranged a surprise cake and sparkling wine for the whole group to share in the middle of nowhere. A fascinating, unique experience I'd recommend to anyone. Thank you Autopia, we miss you Lorrie. Jojo and John.
We're just back in Alice Springs after four fantastic days exploring the Red Centre with Autopia. Our guide Lorrie did it all -- driving, guiding, cooking and more -- and went out of her way to make sure each of the seven of us in the group came away with memories to last a lifetime.

We did the 4 day Alice Springs to Uluru tour and loved the nature and hiking, even if demanding at times, with a great group of fellow travellers. The bus felt cramped when full. Our guide Adam knew the sights well, but communication around meal times and the schedule could have been clearer -- one day we didn't eat properly for over 10 hours. Food was decent but a bit repetitive by the end.

Just wrapped up four fantastic days with Jim on the outback tour. The scenery and landmarks were great, but what really stood out was Jim's knowledge, organisation and positive attitude managing a group of 21 people aged 13 to 70+ from all over the world, keeping it fun for everyone. Highly recommended, and the only tour I could find that includes the West MacDonnell Ranges, with Standley Chasm, Simpson's Gap, Ormiston Gorge and Ellery Creek, alongside Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta and Uluru. Don't expect luxury: the food is simple but good, everyone helps with cooking, washing up and the fire, and there's a lot of driving, though you can catch up on sleep after the 4:30am sunrise starts. Sleeping in a swag is fun and the group really bonds through sharing the jobs. There were a few pick-ups and drop-offs along the way, and our guide Adam, though initially a little stressed, is very knowledgeable about plants and animals. Six of us made friends we hope to keep. A memorable trip.

Five stars for our guide Jem and the Autopia 4-day tour. Jem was outstanding, and we had a really nice mixed group in age and nationality. The facilities are basic but appropriate to the environment and didn't detract at all, and there was a good mix of sights. Aside from Jem herself, Ellery Creek Big Hole was a magnificent highlight.

산이나 긴 코스를 갈 때 자주 쉬어서 몸에 무리가 가지 않고 아주 좋았습니다. 보통 짧은 코스를 선택할 수 있게 해주셔서 본인 몸 상태에 따라 다니시면 될 듯 합니다.
마지막 밤 캠핑장에 샤워시설이 없는건 아쉬웠지만 어떻게든 잘 해결했습니다.
마지막 코스에서 다들 야생동물 보고 싶어서 미련 남은 얼굴로 계속 뒤돌아보는게 너무 웃겼습니다..,
가격대가 있어서 좀 고민했는데 만족스러웠어요.

I completed the 4-day round trip from Alice Springs to Uluru and it was wonderful — nothing prepares you for Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon and the West MacDonnell Ranges. Our guide Mitch was excellent on every hike, sharing deep knowledge of Anangu culture, and made camping under the stars near Mt Sonder a real highlight. He was the best guide, driver and cook I could ask for — highly recommend for anyone wanting an authentic Red Centre experience.

We did the 4-day tour and were absolutely thrilled. The landscape is beautiful, and our guides Mitch and Jim were amazing. Mitch showed us around Uluru with lots of information and a breathtaking view of Kata Tjuta, and we slept under the most beautiful starry skies. Jim then drove the dirt road, sharing a lot about Aboriginal cultures and history. Our group was great fun, and you could really tell Jim loves her job and spread such a joyful atmosphere, always ready to answer any question. I can only recommend doing all four days.
Our four days in the Red Centre were indescribable - so many new impressions and memories for a lifetime. The tour was excellently organised, and despite the Australian summer heat, our early starts meant we avoided the worst of the midday sun. Our guides Jim and Silvia were superbly organised, always looking after our wellbeing with plenty of water and electrolytes. Seeing Uluru and the Red Centre is something everyone should do, and we were lucky to have the sites almost to ourselves.
We had a fantastic four-day tour with Autopia in the Red Centre. Our guide Adam was excellent, clearly very knowledgeable about nature, culture, history and wildlife, and his enthusiasm and good company made everyone feel welcome. Would definitely recommend.
We did the 4 Day Uluru, Kata Tjuta to West MacDonnell tour and it was a breathtaking adventure from start to finish. Our guides CJ and Sanne felt like friends by the end - full of care, attention and detail, guiding us through incredible hikes, sharing stories of the land, teaching us about animals and bush food, and connecting with us on a personal level. The whole tour was professionally run yet full of heart, and we learned so much and laughed constantly. We started as strangers and left as friends.
We did the 4 day Red Centre tour taking in Uluru, Kings Canyon and West MacDonnell, and it was the most stunning and fulfilling part of our whole Australia trip. Our guides Sanne and CJ created amazing memories, clearly loving their work, and shared deep knowledge of the flora, fauna and Aboriginal culture with warmth, fun and ease.
“Amazing tour, 100% recommended!”
Literally one of the best tours I've ever done. It ran in January, which made me nervous about the heat, but it couldn't have been better. Our guide Adam had so much knowledge, especially about wildlife, nature and Aboriginal culture, and made sure we stayed cool and hydrated. There were almost no other tourists, the remote campgrounds were special, and the stars at night were incredible. The tour covered a lot of ground, giving the most authentic experience of this wide, majestic country. Perfect, and a 100% recommendation.
We took the 4-day, 3-night Christmas tour through the Red Centre with guides Sanne and CJ. Everyone in our diverse group had a fantastic time - it was organised perfectly and easily the best of the many tours I've done, even at Christmas. Huge thanks to Sanne and CJ for such a memorable trip.

The trip is thoughtfully put together, covering all the highlights with great camps and food - don't skip day four if you can help it. My husband and I had a blast doing the 4 day, 3 night trip from Uluru to Alice Springs with Autopia. We loved the raw natural beauty and learning about the culture of the traditional custodians of the land, thanks to the great care of our guides Damian and Jim. It was impressive how well they looked after a group of over 20 people from different backgrounds in such a remote landscape. A truly memorable trip full of off-road adventures, gathering firewood, wildlife spotting and unforgettable sunrises and sunsets.
My family had an amazing time on the 4-day Alice Springs trip. Guide Damo clearly loved his job and answered every question, and second guide Jimbo was lively and always happy to help. The scenery was stunning and the hikes rewarding — one was tough but the views made it worthwhile. We also loved bonding with the rest of the group.

“AMAZING!!!”
I'd wanted to visit the Red Centre since I was 12, and I'm so glad we found this tour rather than driving ourselves, which the blogs warned against for the area. The 4-day trip was completely worthwhile, not just for the landscapes, hikes and waterhole swims but for the people we met and the whole camping vibe. The swag was comfortable and falling asleep under a sky full of stars was magical, cooking on the campfire was a great plus, and I was impressed by the varied, complete meals each day. The bus was comfortable and our guide was quite a character. It's a lot of money, but the tour is very much worth it.
We had a phenomenal 4 days with guide Shearna touring Uluru, Kata Tjuṭa, Kings Canyon and Ellery Creek. Every day mixed a hike with rich cultural history, and Shearna stayed upbeat even through a mechanical breakdown. Managing a group of 19 alone was a lot for one guide, and some camp facilities were basic, but seeing Uluru made it unforgettable.
An incredible experience — 4 days in the outback with our amazing guide Zoe. We felt a deep connection with nature and formed real friendships within our small international group. Zoe, only 20, was expert, professional and confident leading us through the outback, and her positive energy and passion were contagious. We brought our kids, aged 9 and 12, who learned so much. A truly amazing trip.
This 4-day camping trip from Alice Springs to Uluru with our family was truly memorable. Mitch, our guide, was knowledgeable and friendly, bringing together five nationalities and different generations with ease. He fed us brilliantly too — kangaroo, steak and emu burgers, a charcuterie board at sunset, and cooked breakfasts. Hiking the Kings Canyon rim and learning about Indigenous history were definite highlights, and everything was superbly organised — a tour I'd recommend to everyone.
I did this four-day trip with a friend back in September 2024 and loved how many different places we saw, plus everything we learned about Aboriginal traditions, history and culture. The walks varied from short easy strolls to a tough four-hour trek. Shearna guided us for the full four days and made it truly special — you could feel her genuine love for the land and the respect she has for local communities.

Shearna, our guide, brought real depth to the trip with her understanding of the area's history and cultural importance, and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout. We took in Uluru, Kata Tjuṭa and Kings Canyon at an easy pace, with unforgettable sunrise and sunset moments and a memorable night camping beneath the stars.
This four-day journey took in Uluru and other highlights of central Australia, and it was brilliant — great food, comfy swags, and an amazing guide named Senna. She made a real effort to include everyone, checked in regularly, and clearly knew the sites and culture inside out. Definitely worth booking.
This tour isn't for lazy people or late sleepers, but it was fantastic. Several mornings in a row I was up at 4am, and never regretted it — it's the only way to manage the hikes at Kata Tjuṭa and Kings Canyon before the heat set in. Zoe, our driver and guide, knew exactly what she was doing, worked hard, and was lovely company. The food was very good and the camps were fairly rustic but fine. The swags showed their age and had no mosquito net, my only real gripe, but sleeping under the stars was still wonderful. It's packed with information and left me exhausted after four days, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I did the 4-day Uluru, Kata-Tjuṭa, Kings Canyon and West MacDonnell Ranges camping trip — genuinely one of the highlights of my time in Australia. It was thoughtfully planned, with the tougher hikes scheduled for cool mornings and easier walks or bus travel in the afternoons. My favourite part was sitting around the campfire each night with guide Rhett, playing guitar and telling us about the stars and the universe. Can't recommend it enough.
"Buckle up and fill your bottle" — that was the mantra on our 4-day Red Centre camping trip in 35-degree heat. Three guides, Damian, Christine and Mitch, each gave us a fantastic window into the environment and Aboriginal culture that we'd never have found on our own. The permanent tents were comfortable, the meals were good, and we enjoyed the company of five other travellers. Highly recommend this Autopia trip.

Shearna (apologies if I've misspelled that) was bubbly, well informed and clearly respectful of the West MacDonnell Ranges' history and its significance to local Aboriginal communities. Her passion for the job really came through and I was impressed by her depth of knowledge. I'd happily book another Autopia tour next time I'm in the Red Centre.

Our packed 4-day adventure was amazing, the sights and walks breathtaking, and we learned so much about the nature and culture of this part of Australia. Nothing fazed our guide; she didn't let a small bus problem or a bit of rain stop us hitting all the spots, and we had the best time. Highly recommend Autopia for your Red Centre adventures, the organisation was great and the guides are very experienced.
“The best tour ever “4 day Uluṟu, Kings Canyon and West…”
We had the best time on our 4-day Uluru to Alice Springs tour. Rhett was our inspiring guide and driver, with extensive knowledge of the area and its flora and fauna, and his infectious enthusiasm made it even better. The food was good and plentiful, the campfires kept us warm in the evenings, and the best treat was waking early to the beautiful sound of Rhett's guitar. Magical. Thank you Rhett, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed touring the West MacDonnell Ranges with our guide, whose name I think was Rail or Rael. We took in plenty of landmarks and did a proper hike, which was my favourite part of the day. It meant a lot to be guided by someone who genuinely cares about and understands Aboriginal culture — I came away having learned a great deal and with plenty to reflect on.

We had the most amazing experience! Our guide Red knew everything about the history and plants and is all you could wish for in a guide, right down to leading you to the perfect photo spots. Really recommend doing the 4-day trip with him and sleeping in the swags; lying under the stars hits differently in the Outback.

Five stars for our great guide Rhett, even though we had to cut our stay short due to illness. Just be aware that this is rudimentary camping rather than a comfort trip, and in winter the nights are extremely cold, so pack accordingly.
“An impressive and adventurous tour in the Outback”
We travelled with the excellent guide Damian, who knows his facts, is well organised and showed great leadership steering the group through an ambitious programme on time. He was also a good cook and a safe driver, and took great care of our 12-year-old twin sons, going out of his way when one was injured. The programme and experiences were impressive and beautiful, and we learned a lot. Bring warm clothes, as July nights are very cold, and be ready for a 5:20am start.
“4 Day Private Outback Tour”
Our Outback private tour was a good experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it however there were a number of setbacks which we attributed to our guide and the facilities.
On a positive note, we loved the adventure of driving our private group of 9 people from Alice Springs, to King's Canyon with the rim walk, to Uluru with the base and Mala walks, cultural centre and sunset views and finally to Kata Tjuta and its walk and sunset views. The guide was informative and cared about our schedule and safety, especially since we were experiencing extreme heats of 45C/113F. We also found the food and snacks good for this type of trip.
From a negative standpoint, we found our guide was not proactive and lacked tact, although this may have been because of the heat we were experiencing. A few of our questions were answered with sarcasm which made the group feel uncomfortable. For example, when we asked about the upcoming schedule, we were told "You will have to wait till later" (meaning don't ask when it's not time) and when we asked why towels were not supplied when it was not on the list of things to bring, we were told "Underwear aren't on the list either but we didn't have to tell you to bring that." Being a helpful person, she did go out of her way to obtain towels for us but again, it was another uncomfortable situation. We also feel the schedule should have been adjusted so we could have had a discussion about Uluru and a visit to the cultural centre before we were told to walk around it for 2 hours on our own without enough knowledge of what we were seeing. Our Mala informative walk was unfortunately done in the heat of the day when everyone was tired of walking and focus was waning. We also don't feel it was appropriate to make us cook over a hot BBQ when it's 38C/100F. The menu should have been adjusted according to the anticipated heat. Although the food was good, if you are asking your guests to help prepare a meal, this should not require one hour of preparation in the heat after a long day of hiking, especially after the sunset views late in the evening. We were also promised a Dinner under the stars like I have seen in photos on this website, but this never happened. (I was afraid to ask the guide about it because it was not on our official schedule and I could see there were no supporting staff to help make this happen.) Also, the tents were not in the best of shape. Approx 1/3 were damaged and under repair, some of the good ones had torn mattresses while only a few were in good shape. Finally, there is nobody cleaning the sleeping or food tents, or kitchen refrigerators between groups so you got them in whatever condition the previous renters left them.
Overall if was a fun and adventurous trip with great views and experiences, but it could have been better with a more fun and flexible guide and better facilities.
