What we do
An ancient landscape blessed with stunning sunsets and dark night skies full of stars. This is the Pinnacles Desert, now an internationally renowned stargazing destination.
This small group tour includes the use of the latest Astronomy Equipment to help you get the most out of your stargazing experience. We have a powerful computerised telescope and astro binoculars for your use so that you can see the planets and our moon in great detail. There is also the option to attach your smartphone to the telescope to take pictures of the moon.
The tour runs all year round, the night sky changes throughout the seasons and although it is a bit colder, autumn, winter and spring are some of the best times of the year to see the Milky Way and Planets in the Southern Hemisphere.
While you wait for the stars and planets to appear, enjoy a traditional Australian Barbeque Dinner with a glass of Swan Valley wine as you watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean.
We specialise in small group tours using our modern luxury Mini Buses which allows us to drive in to the middle of the Pinnacles Desert for your Stargazing Experience. This tour regularly sells out so please book early to avoid missing out.
The first stop on the tour is the Lancelin Bakery for a quick coffee/food & toilet stop before heading in to the sand dunes for sand boarding. We then follow the turquoise coast along Indian Ocean Drive doing a few stops along the way to see wildflowers in season as well as a guided walk to see native plants used the the Aborigines for food and medicine.
We end the tour with dinner under the stars in the Pinnacles desert where you will get the opportunity to get a close up look at the stars and planets through our telescope, try your hand at Astrophotography, learn about Aboriginal Astronomy and hear stories from the Aboriginal Dreamtime as they relate to the night sky.
The final part of the evening is a Sound Healing session by candelight in the desert. This ancient healing practice is the perfect way to slow down and connect with nature as you listen to a live performance of a didgeridoo and crystal sound healing bowl.

How much luggage can I take?
We don't have an exact policy when it comes to luggage though we just ask our customers to be mindful that we have limited space. Generally we recommend people to bring a large backpack/suitcase with all their gear and another smaller backpack to keep on the bus and hold their daily items ( phone, water bottle, towel, sunscreen etc ) and which they used to take on walks etc. If you have a lot of luggage is best to leave the things you don't need at your hotel/hostel where they will store it for free.
Where can I store my luggage whilst on tour?
During the tour your main luggage will be stored in our trailer. This trailer is always locked however we cannot guarantee the complete safety of your gear from theft or damage. Most hostel and hotels will store your luggage safely free of charge.

Do I need travel insurance?
Insurance is important in protecting visitors from loss or damange of goods, medical problems, cancelation by passengers or other casualties. Its highly recommended. Some tours on this website require you to have travel insurance. If you are Australian then it is not necessary.
Can I get online whilst travelling?

If you have a mobile plan with internet then that should be ok except for more remote regions. This will vary from tour to tour so please contact us directly for more accurate information.

Who travels with us
Is this tour for me?
Our tours are made up of small groups with a range of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Generally people who travel with us are between 20 and 49, though we also get alot passengers much older onboard - everyone is welcome! On tour we get equally as many males as females and everyone shares an enthusiasm for the out doors, nature, adventure and culture. Our tours are for those wanting to really explore and share the experience with likeminded travellers. Whether we are camping by a billabong in Kakadu National Park or sharing a cabin in Tasmania, our travellers want more than just a site seeing tour. They are chasing a hands on group experience. The trips are packed with many highlights and the pace can be fast. There may be some long drives and passengers should expect to help out when setting up camp or cooking food - this is a group adventure. However, there’s always time to chill out, have a cold beer ( or wine! ) and soak up your surroundings. As always, if in doubt then contact us directly with your concerns.
Cost and Fees
What does "Paid Locally" mean?
Some tours require you to pay national park fees directly, in cash, to the tour guide on the morning of departure. Rest assured this will be subtracted from the tour price when reserving your tour.
Will I need additional money?
Visitors are advised to bring some cash as ATMs and banks can be few and far between depending on where we are during the trip. Its handy to have some extra cash as we do stop by local shops and cafe.
Do I need to tip our guide?
If you had an amazing time on tour and wish to tip the guide, then that is completely up to you. However, tipping is not customary and is not at all expected.
Are there any hidden fees I need to know about?
Our tour prices are completely transparent. There are no additional fees involved that are not included in the overall tour price shown. If you wish to do optional activities such as helicopter rides or wildlife safaris, then an extra cost may be needed. However, this will always be made clear at the time of your booking.
Whilst on tour
What type of tent will I get?
Tents are generally designed to accommodate a minimum of 2 people. This means there is plenty of room to move about and store your luggage. However, most Uluru tours we try and encourage the use of swags and mattress rather than tents. This is the ideal way to camp in the centre of Australia; Around a campfire, under the stars!
What will the food be like?
Our emphasis is on fresh food wherever possible and our meals are nutritious and varied on these tours. If you are vegetarian or gluten intolerant we can cater for you, but if you have very specific dietary needs you may need to provide your own food, please discuss this at time of booking. For breakfast we supply cereals, fruits, toast, tea and coffee. Lunch is usually a self-serve picnic sandwich and salads; in the evening we have a cooked dinner - This can vary between pastas, bbqs, rices and other hearty food to keep you energized! We always carry water in the vehicle and you will often have the chance to buy your own drinks, ice-creams etc at stops. Please refer to each individual tour/package to establish which meals are included.
Can you cater of special diets?
We can certain cater for most dietary needs. Please advise us at the time of your booking so arrangements can be made. For travellers with more extreme diets we may ask that you bring along additional snacks.

What is the weather like in Western Australia?
WA is Australia’s largest state, comprising one-third of its land mass. In the north much of the landscape is barren. The Great Sandy Desert fringes the central-west coast. The Nullarbor, a vast dry plain, sweeps across the south and over the border into South Australia (SA). The southwestern corner of the state is a fertile area of forest and vineyards, and is only small in comparison to the size of the rest of WA.Interesting variations in landscape include the Kimberley in the extreme north of the state, a wild and rugged area with a convoluted coastline and stunning inland gorges. The Pilbara, in the northwest, is magnificent ancient-rock and gorge country from which the state derives vast mineral wealth. Away from the coast most of WA is simply a huge empty stretch of outback: along with the Nullarbor Plain and the Great Sandy Desert, the Gibson and Great Victoria Deserts cover much of the state. It’s tropical in the north, where the Dry and Wet seasons replace winter and summer. The Dry lasts from June to August and the Wet from December to February, with monsoonal rain falling from January onwards. The rain can render roads impassable and Port Hedland weathers a serious cyclone at least every two years. In the interior the climate is semi-arid and arid. The southwest of WA is temperate. It’s often above 25°C here while the average temperature along the Kimberley coast is a heavenly 28°C. Up in the Pilbara temperatures can soar to an enthusiasm-depleting 48°C.
What sort of accommodation, vehicles and facilities do we use?
Accommodation on the tour is a mixture of National Parks, camp grounds (with showers and toilets), bush camps (no facilities). Every night in your swag. When camping we use swags with foam mattresses. We like to be flexible with our camping spots as sometimes weather conditions will dictate the best place to camp. We travel in an air-conditioned Mini Bus (maximum of 18 passengers across the Nullarbor) with a purpose built camping trailer.
Reviews
“Do not miss this tour!”
This tour had lots of fun activities wrapped into one tour.
The first activity involved sand boarding down sand dunes. Our guides provided boards and helped seat us and sent us flying down the dune. Great fun!
The second activity had us wandering among the pinnacles in the desert. The pinnacles are amazing. The sunset was gorgeous!
After dinner we looked at the stars. With no ambient light so many starts are visible. Our guides brought out telescopes and binoculars for our use. They were knowledgeable and pointed out many constellations. We even saw satellites!
This tour was so unexpected and I would recommend this to anyone who wanted to experience something out of the ordinary

“Great trip”
We had a great time. Sam picked us up at our hotel snd did an excellent tour with Emma helping in identifying stars. We had enough stops to be comfortable and the Pinnacles were bizarre and wonderful to see. Dinner suited the day and we watched a beautiful sunset. Would recommend.
“WOW - Brilliant day and evening”
This trip was amazing. It's quite a drive to get to the Pinnacles desert from Perth CBD, but is definitely worth it. We made a few stops along the way, which broke the journey up a little, and also showed us some amazing areas of WA.
The actual desert was definitely the highlight and such an interesting place. We had a BBQ dinner in the middle of the desert, and then had the amazing experience of the star gazing. The guides were knowledgeable and informative, and obviously loved what they do.
We were picked up at midday in Perth CBD, and dropped back at our hotel around 10.30pm, so a big day - definitely worth it though. I would highly recommend this day trip to visitors to Perth.
“Good times.”
The guides were incredibly friendly, but also knowledgeable. I would like to do it again with more family or friends, just to share the experience.
“Fun afternoon, knowledgeable guide”
We had a fantastic afternoon with Don. His patience more than I would have in this tour role. Don was super knowledgeable about the areas & good fun to banter with.
We were picked up from our hotel & eventually picked up everyone (including those that we had to return for bc they couldnt be outside waiting on time like everyone else...) then finally off on to an adventure.
It did rain hard but brief when we arrived to sandboard but what a great area!! Everyone still had the opportunity to sandboard down & were allowed to go again if they wanted to fight the rain... We wenrlt up to the lookout & it was beautiful looking out over the water.
Pinnacles were spectacular. A shame cloud cover ruined our planet viewing from the telescope but the clouds cleared to see the milky way plus a few other constellations I never knew about.
“Terrific first time experience”
The trip maybe far but it's totally worth it! Once in a lifetime must try! From sandboarding to star gazing while enjoying sumptuous barbecued sausages! That's life man... Could repeat this any day!
“1st class tour!”
Everything was 10/10 - from collecting me from hotel to a walk in the Pinnacles, excellent bbq tea and salad and viewing the moon through the telescope! Guides were knowledgeable and pointed out the various constellations and planets. We also were shown what setting to put our phones on to take some amazing night photos! Definitely recommend this tour!
“Perfect Pinnacles”
The trip was so fab! Our guide was brilliant and the sand duning and star gazing were the highlights! The Pinnacles are a truly beautiful and spiritual place. Highly recommend!
“Great holiday experience”
Was able to capture magnificent view of sunset. Guides are both great, helpful and lively. Thank you very much
“Stargazing”
A great tour and a great, knowledgeable guide. Even though the weather threatened to be against us we still got to see what we came to see and learned a thing or two about star photography with our phones.
“Great trip”
Adrian was very knowledgeable, the food was delicious, and sights incredible , I high,y recommend this trip, sandboarding was so much fun. It was cloudy the day we went but that didn’t stop the beautiful sunset over the pinnacles and we were still able to check out the stars
“Amazing!”
This was an absolutely amazing experience! Our Driver Sam was kind and very knowledgeable. Walking through the dessert was incredible.
“We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Gavin!”
We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Gavin! He was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He has deep knowledge of the stars above the Pinnacles and he also shared a lot of interesting stories and history about the Pinnacles. The whole experience was informative, fun and very memorable.
“Incredible Pinnacles Star Experience”
Great day trip. Picked up at our hotel st about midday and we were dropped back at 9-45pm. Incredible clear skies provided us with probably a 9 out of 10 Stargazing experience. Our guide Adrian, was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout the day. He helped everyone with his extensive photographic experience to take an iconic Pinnacles /. Star photograph and his patient efforts to help we novices with our various Smart phones must be commended. Given it had been raining all week and we had beautiful skies - we were blessed. The dune sliding and lovely BBQ dinner really paled behind the incredible night sky and the star gazing opportunity we were provided. We had a great time.
“Must visit while in perth”
Worth to visit
One of the most beautiful place in perth
Lucky us we could see the stars
And it was really beautiful
Magical place
“The pinicales”

Great day out Hadrian was a great host very patient with my terrible eyesight and lack of phone skills We got some amazing photos of the stars Breathtaking sunset coastline views and the pinnacles speak for themselves
“Simply spectacular”
We did the Pinnacles sunset dinner & stargazing tour with Lumineer. It was one fantastic tour. Both tour guides were very friendly & knowledgeable. The tour & the location itself was something out of this world. The dinner under the stars was fabulous. They even catered for dietary needs. Would recommend this tour to anyone. Want to do it again. Thanks Lumineer
“Must do”
Must do the star gazing was amazing staff very knowledgeable . It was a long day but worth the drive. Lots of comets looked like beak hour. Good BBQ provided.
“Recommend this trip.”
Lleyton did a great job, helping me as a newcomer to sand boarding, setting up dinner, and a great play list whilst driving. Star gazing was a great experience.
“Worth the journey!”
Varied & enjoyable mix of experiences. A long but rewarding day with two very competent guides/drivers. Even the cloudy weather didn't matter!
“A must see tour”
Our tour guides were friendly, fun and very informative. We had a wonderful experience and the sand boarding was so much fun. The Pinnacles were spectacular and a must see. The sunset experience- beautiful. Food excellent. Star gazing - stunning!
“Great Experience”
Fantastic trip. Even though the bus was a bit unloved and the microphone didn’t work, we had a great time. Leighton, our driver/guide looked after us a treat. Safe driving, friendly, helpful and professional. The bbq dinner was terrific and our sunset watching and star gazing, just brilliant. The astronomy part was carried out by the driver of the other bus, Hadril, I think his name was. Very knowledgeable and delivered an informative and entertaining session. We just loved our time at the Pinnacles. Thank you Leighton for all your assistance.
“Lovely!”
Casper was our guide. He is obviously very knowledgeable about stars. A very informative trip. The pinnacles are amazing and, even though our day was fairly cloudy, the sunset was picturesque. The stops along the way gave us a good stretch of legs and photo opportunities. The picnic dinner was really lovely. Plus a glass of bubbly.
“Dinner under the stars”
Guides were very knowledgeable & helpful. It was a great experience: with the sandboarding and star gazing. Dinner under the stars & in the desert is something to remember.
“Night in the desert”
Such an amazing experience! The tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Sand boarding was so much fun! Pinnacles, sunset, dinner and star gazing was all just perfect! Must do!
“Star gazing, sand boarding, Pinnacles tour breathtaking must do ”
Neal the guide was amazing, so knowledgeable, the star gazing was phenomenal, great experience! Loved the run up to the stars with sand boarding experience, good funny for all. The Pinnacles themselves are out of this world!

Sam was superb—friendly, organized & fun! Great music, smooth trip, helped with sandboarding. Only wish dinner info & fly nets shared earlier
“An Enjoyable Tour”
We really enjoyed our tour to the Pinnacles. Neil our guide and driver for the day did a great job…friendly, informative and efficient….it’s amazing what came out of the back of the bus!
“An excellent day out”
We had a great time on this tour. We had Gavin as our tour guide who was very friendly and knowledgeable. Sand boarding was great fun and the stars were beautiful. Watching the sun go down over the Pinnacles was breathtaking. The food was great too.
“Fantastic day out”
Beautiful scenery at the Pinnacles and several interesting stops on the way up. Who would have thought going down a sand dune sitting on a snow board would have been so much fun. Food from the bbq great and very interesting info on stars and planets. Sam our guide was a top bloke and he liked cricket too - what more could you ask? Excellent trip.
“Fantastic ”
We had an incredible time during our tour! Emma and Heydrian were fantastic your guides. We will certainly be recommending Lumineer to our family and friends! …
“Enchanting.”
I don't normally do google reviews but I needed to do one for this tour because of how spectacular the tour, and especially our tour guide Don was! Everything was well scheduled, from pick up to drop off, and you can be rest assured you're in good hands. Don is so friendly and inclusive towards every single person of the tour, constantly checking on the wellbeing of everyone. This is so appreciated and contributes to making the environment such a great one as we come to mingle with one another. I was initially afraid the journey to the dunes/desert was going to be long. However, Don had such knowledgable and fun commentaries, paired with a wonderful music playlist throughout the ride, and before I knew it, we had reached our destination(s). To top it off, the sandboarding and stargazing are activities I will certainly remember for a long time to come. It was an absolutely beautiful journey, and the tour is certainly recommended to anyone with an adventurous soul (-:
“It's a trip I think was well worth the price, and I highly recom”
I was exceptionally happy with Hadrien (our tour guide). He was a lovely individual who had a lot of great stories and played the part of tour guide well. As for the tour, the sandboarding was fun (you can stand, sit, or just watch). You get stops along the way for toilets, for tea and snacks, and at picturesque views of the ocean or the bush. Lastly, the Pinnacles are fun scenery with interesting history. You are treated to a meal around sunset, where there's hot chocolate, wine, sausages, potatoes, and various kinds of veggies (at least when I went). Hadrien has blankets for those cold, but be prepared for the desert to get a little windy. He also brings a telescope (we got to see the rings of Saturn!) and binoculars. Lastly, the low light pollution is perfect for star gazing. Such beautiful sights as the universe opens up.
“Very enjoyable.”
Fantastic trip with Sam, Sam & Leah. We chose the self drive option as we were already staying close to the park. The staff were all very friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining. The sunset was spectacular, the food was sensational...and the stargazing...well the stars didn't want to come out and play. Maybe next time. Otherewise well worth the trip!
“Fantastic Day Trip!”
Really great way to explore all the attractions north of Perth in one go. The snadboarding was fun. They catered for me with halal food, even prepared it seperately wrapped in foil so no cross contamination.
“Fantastic Experience.”
A very enjoyable tour. You visit some beautiful viewpoints along the coast and see stunning landscapes throughout the tour. As well as this you can try sandboarding which is great fun. Our guide Dom was fantastic and shared heaps of interesting facts and information about Western Australian. He added a good amount of humour and jokes too which added much to the experience. The Pinnacles were breathtaking and it was great to take in the views and also the stars and moon, although we did have some clouds during our visit (it happens). Finally the food was really good with some healthy salad and veggie options plus good wine, tea and coffee too. Overall
“Just the best”
We had such a memorable and great time yesterday at the sand dunes and Pinnacle! Our guide Don along with his colleague in the second bus, Emma, were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and kind throughout the entire journey. It was so much fun sand boarding, and then stargazing under the night sky. It was magical. Dinner was amazing too, courtesy of Don and Emma. And we learned alot about the milky way, the planets. A magical day I will cherish forever. Thank you to the wonderful guides from Lumineer. Really made our stay in Perth an experience to remember for a lifetime.
“Wow”
This is a MUST DO tour to explore the raw beauty of WA’s natural environment just north of Perth. Lumineer Adventure Tours provided exceptional customer service from enquiry stage right through to drop off after tour. Emma (our Guide) was exceptional - her unlimited knowledge, genuine kindness to all guests & incredible love of nature gave us an adventure we will never forget! Sand boarding, whale watching with true breathtaking experiences of the Pinnacles & surrounding desert from sunset to stargazing night skies left us buzzing. The delish evening BBQ was perfect after a big afternoon of fun (so many different salads to choose from). Great resources for all to use was so cool (telescope, binoculars, sand boards, blankets). Extra bonus of Emma teaching us simple phone photography tricks to capture the stars & Milky Way. I wishes I lived in WA PS would strongly recommend taking plenty of media storage as is photography utopia.
“Can’t recommend enough”
I joined the tour on 15 September. Sandboarding was fun, pinnacles are absolutely amazing place. With the skies clearing up just at the right time the tour ended with a fantastic view of the stars above us. Sam, Leighton and Neil, thank you for a wonderful day!
“Really recommend it”
Went on the Pinnacle tour on 19th Sept and it was an absolute blast! From sandboarding wipeouts to stargazing through a telescope under the desert sky , every moment was unforgettable. Sam and Gavin were the real stars super knowledgeable and super friendly. Dinner under the stars was the cherry on top. Highly recommend this tour (and especially these two legends) if you want a fun and memorable Pinnacle adventure!
“Excellen”
I took the Pinnacles Desert Stargazing Tour with them. It was great. I loved every moment. Leighton was our tour guide. First we went sandboarding, he help with tips and tricks on how to get down the best way. We then went to a beautiful beach for a quick walk and to the Nilgen Lookout. On the way Leighton explained about some animals living there and about the vegetation and bush fires, etc. Then we arrived at Pinnacles Desert and had an hour or so to wander on our own, take pictures, watch the sunset. It was amazing. When we came back to the vans, dinner was ready. First we got some appetizers, then sausages with salads. The salads were fantastic! I‘m not a big fan of sausages in general, but I enjoyed the ones they had, but for me the salads were the star of the dinner. While we were eating, Leighton set up a telescope and had us look at the moon and saturn. He gave tips on how to get the best night sky pictures. Then we headed back to Perth. Thank you so much! It was a great tour and Leighton was a great guide! Highly recommend!
