Cradle Mountain is 4.5 hours drive from Hobart and that’s why we have designed our Cradle Mountain tour over two awesome days, staying overnight in a lakeside motel. Our 2 Day Cradle Mountain Tour takes us deep into the remote wilderness for which Tasmania is renowned. Hike in the World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain National Park, see Tasmania’s most spectacular waterfalls including the famous Russel Falls and enjoy a scenic drive through Tasmania’s highlands.

Itinerary
Day 1: Hobart to North West Tasmania
An early start from Hobart takes us deep into the wild west of Tasmania. After passing through New Norfolk, we explore Mount Field National Park, walking among some of the tallest trees on the planet, standing beneath the beautiful Russell Falls, and searching for platypus. Our drive passes through the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area with a stop at Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, before we explore the eerie historical mining town of Queenstown and arrive at our destination, not far from Cradle Mountain, ready to explore tomorrow.

Day 2: North West Tasmania to Hobart (via Cradle Mountain)
After a short drive through temperate rainforest, we arrive at the spectacular Cradle Mountain National Park. Get your cameras ready as we spot wild wombats before hiking the popular Dove Lake Circuit — or Marion's Lookout for the adventurous. A scenic drive through mountain ranges and highland lakes brings us back to Hobart (around 5:30pm), where we say farewell.

My friend recommended this tour and it did not disappointed! Very well organized, cool locations to stay at night, nature is stunning and our tour guide Tim was superb. He gave us tons of information about Tasmania history, plants, animals and just cool stories. Each national park has various options for tracking so you can choose one according to your level pf activity, which is great! This company also has 2-day tour, but I would recommend this one, it’s worth it.

I don't usually go on tours and wasn't sure what to expect, but the overnight tour to Cradle Mountain completely exceeded every expectation. From start to finish it was perfectly organised, relaxing, fun and unforgettable. Trent was wonderfully responsive when I first emailed him, and while Tasmania is breathtaking on its own, what made this exceptional was our guide Tim. His knowledge of the history, wildlife and hidden gems was outstanding and nothing was ever too much trouble, so it felt more like travelling with friends than being on a tour. Highly recommend Wild Tasmania Tours, especially if you get Tim as your guide.

He took us to some really cool spots and we were lucky enough to spot wallabys, wombats and other interesting wildlife - even a platypus. Nice and clean accommodation, comfortable bus (important as there is a fair bit of travel time) and lastly it’s a plus that the groups are kept small so you don’t feel like a sheep in a long line which can be the case on some tours.

An amazing experience! Our guide Tim was personable, energetic, and knowledgeable. As he drove he told engaging stories that gave context to the places we saw. At each stop he guided us to find the best views, and he was exceptional at spotting wildlife, the primary reason for our visit. We had to leave the four day tour early due to our flight plans, so while the rest of the group had a full day with Tim, Trent picked us up at Craggy Peaks to get us back to Hobart. On the way he took us to lunch in Ross and gave us time to visit the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Since we still had a few hours before our flight he brought us to the Hobart waterfront where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Pearl & Co. before heading to the airport. The entire tour was very well planned to maximize opportunities for great experiences while minimizing lengthy drives between stops.

The trip was so phenomenal I’m not sure where to begin. In short, it exceeded my expectations by A LOT. Trent was accommodating and knowledgeable, the locations were beautiful and unusual, the vibe was authentic and the accommodation options felt more like classy airbnbs. I shared three different ones with two other women, and all of us felt they were spacious, clean and had a phenomenal view.

Even in retrospect, I almost can't believe that we have seen only in four days Tasmania's wildest jungles with lots of waterfalls, walked to the summit of Cradle Mountain, stayed in brilliant bungalows in the middle of untouched national parks, woke up surrounded by wallabies, took a bath at beaches with turquoise clear water and beautiful rocks having seen penguins, the Tasmanian devil and lots of other animals as well! I did the Cradle mountain tour with Wild Tasmania and it was the best two days. For me it was the perfect balance between hiking and going to as many places as possible. The highlight has to be the hike around Dove Lake in Cradle Mountain national park which was absolutely stunning. Trent, our tour guide, is super nice and has lots of knowledge. He doesn't talk throughout the whole trip but will share anything interesting. Everything regarding food, accommodation, pick-up etc was carefully planned by him.

Travelling with Wild Tasmania Tours on the Cradle Mountain trip was a truly memorable two days. Trent has an obvious passion for the Tassie wilderness and local history and he provides an authentic small group experience. We had lots of beautiful scenic walks with plenty of stops in between to spot wildlife, grab food and enjoy a rest. Accommodation in Tullah was lakeside with clean and comfortable rooms and good food at the restaurant. This is simply the best option to do Tassie with if you’re short on time. Our accommodation at Tullah Lakeside
Lodge was great, as the rooms were large, clean and comfortable. It was particularly important after cold and rainy first day on the road.
The jewel in the crown was trip our to Cradle mountain. It was spectacular on the bright clear day. We were so lucky.
We saw a few wombats, echidna, wallabies and pink robin. Trent showed us a great variety of native plants. It was very informative.
A small group of seven lovely people, who love hiking and adventure. A new spacious, clean and super comfortable vehicle with a trailer for luggage.

Overall I would say, that a tour fits you regardless if you’re more into relaxing or active time - the route and activities are selected in such way, that everyone will find something to do.
One of the highlights was exploring the beauty of Cradle Mountain National Park, another unforgettable experience was encountering the unique wildlife of Tasmania : wombats to Tasmanian devils, petting kangaroos the tour was so short yet it felt like a little life I was lucky to experience worth every penny spent!!

This trip to the beautiful Cradle Mountain was one of my highlights as a solo traveller in Tas! Trent is kind and knowledgeable, and made an effort to get to know everyone in our fun little group over the 2 days and one night journey spent together. I was able to make the most out of my trip thanks to his valuable insight into Tasmanian flora and fauna, landscapes, history and culture. We went on many enjoyable walks and explored the west, including the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, as well as completing the challenging Marion’s Lookout hike at Cradle. First, typically I rent a car and create my own 'tour'. I am so grateful I spontaneously elected to book the 2 Day Cradle Mountain Tour with Trent. He has put together a truly amazing experience for all of us. He entertained us with tons of local history and informative narratives of what we were seeing on the driving parts of the day. And walking/hiking through the rain forests under giant ferns to spectacular waterfalls was amazing! Our night accommodations were very comfortable with a unique history of their own. I was wondering about the early starts to our days - spot on as Trent made sure we arrived before other large tours and had Cradle Mountain Park to ourselves. Breathtaking somewhat arduous hike to Marion's Lookout with stunning views along the way with a sweet wallaby sighting. Add this tour to your 'must do' reservations when you're in Tasmania!!!

The best tour we took in Tassie and the best way to see Cradle Mountain. The first day we saw all the gorgeous falls and rainforests, then stayed in a cabin with gorgeous lake views before travelling to Cradle ahead of the crowds, so we got real quality time there. In a word, spectacular — and our guide was fabulous. I planned the trip from the US by emailing Lauren, who made the whole experience so good, answering all my many questions and helping so much. My 2-day Cradle Mountain tour was absolutely wonderful! The tour guide, Trent, is very knowledgeable, helpful, and accommodating to the group.
The hikes and walks are suitable for anyone as most of the walks are very short except Cradle Mountain where there are options of different trails to take. The views are stunning and Trent takes you to the best waterfalls, bridges, and overlooks.

It’s a great tour around Tasmania although my main intention was to explore Cradle Mountain with plenty of time. Due to heavy snow fall Cradle Mountain was not accessible. The substitute walk at Liffey falls was fantastic. Accommodation was comfortable every night and luxurious at Bechino. It wound have been great if I had more time to complete the loop walk at Freycinet National Park. This tour would be perfect if Maria Island is included instead of Cataract Gorge in Launceston and Bay of fires near St. Helens. If opportunities arise I would love to do Cradle Mountain tour again.
