A fantastic ten days from Broome to Darwin in June. Adam was a real character with great enthusiasm. It is a rustic trip and the facilities at some stops are basic, which is what I expected, but it is worth saying that it will not suit everyone. The Bungle Bungles were the highlight and we loved the helicopter flight, which costs extra.
Each night on this Broome to Darwin trip you stay in some amazing campgrounds, right by the Kimberley's best attractions. The 4WD truck is great and the guide really knows what he's doing.

All equipment is supplied and guides are fantastic. Be aware that there are really early morning starts each day to catch sunrises and to be able to fit all the highlights into four days/three nights. Also your clothes and belongings will be covered in red dust. There is lots of walking each day to fully appreciate the natural features of Uluru, Kata Juta and King's Canyon. The walks can be catered for all levels of fitness. So if you are prepared to rough it, then this tour will make a visit to the area affordable rather than staying at some posh resort. You will meet great people on the tour -because anyone who signs up for this type of travel is of great character. Highly recommend this tour to anyone travelling to Central Australia!

Very experienced with all related all the tour (time management, dealing with people, very respectful & clear with our daily routines & activities, plus he is a great cook!). I had the best time ever. I don’t think I have ever done somthing so wonderful. My guide was Mitch and he was informative, kind, and just enjoyable as a human. The swag was great and everything was breath taking. Mitch also knew a-lot about the indigenous people but was honest in not knowing everything. “Larapinta in Comfort 2025”
We did the Larapinta in comfort tour in late May/early June 2025 with Australian Walking Holidays. The whole experience was very enjoyable. The tour hosts were excellent. Mads, Meg & Samuel had a wide range of knowledge regarding all aspects of the experience. They shared with the group insights into the cultural significance, the geology, flora and fauna of each location we visited. This greatly enhanced the experience. As a team they worked well creating very nice meals each day at the various camps. The next day's events were explained clearly the night before ensuring that things went smoothly.
They were very conscious of the ability of each guest and maintained a safety first approach to all walks. The chocolate snacks on the walks were an added treat along with the killer pythons as a sugar fix.
When assistance was required, they were always there. Each camp site was well set up and easy to use.
We were very blessed with the weather which added to the experience.

The trip with Australian Adventure Tours was very well organized and our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, we had a great time, although the first night was bitter cold, and the tents had no form of heating.
The program was a little bit rushed, though; and we did not get much sleep, having to wake up at around 5:00 - 5:30 am in the freezing cold, three days in a row.

I absolutely loved the ten day trip from Broome to Darwin. Rik is the best guide - his communication, information, driving and well-planned meals all added to the experience. I loved the walk and swim each day, especially Emma Gorge, along with sunrise over the Bungle Bungles complete with warm pancakes, and the sunset cruise. Every day was packed and fantastic.

Great tour and a great guide in Adam. We always felt safe with him, ate surprisingly delicious food given we were out in the bush, and had good conversation and informative hikes. When we got a flat tyre he changed it quickly, which is no small job on a truck tyre in that heat. The Kimberley speaks for itself — spectacular scenery and swims, and we've rarely slept better than during those ten days. The truck itself is the one thing that needs money spent on it: old, loud, aircon not working in the cab and leaking onto two of the back seats.

Where do I begin?
I have done a lot of travelling in my life but the Perth to Exmouth Return Tour has to be the best trip I have ever been on!
This trip is truly magical, from sleeping under the stars to fulfilling a dream of swimming with whale sharks.
From start to finish, from booking the tour to saying our goodbyes, the trip exceeded my expectations.
Chanty helped organise the trip and Rainey was our guide. He was so knowledgeable and so attentive, he was just the BEST!
This tour really is the best way to see WA if you are a backpacker / solo traveller / couple or older guests looking for adventure and do not wish to hire a car.
The tour is a perfect amount of time and includes all the best stops and activities along the west coast. Some include seeing wild dolphins in Monkey Mia, visiting the Pink Lake and swimming with mantas and whale sharks in Exmouth, not to mention some of the best stars / sunrises / sunsets I have ever seen in my life!
This trip was just perfect and I would recommend it to EVERYONE. The East Coast is amazing but WA is sooooo underrated amoung travellers and is up there with one of the best places I have ever visited. You know what they say.. WEST is BEST!
Great tour into the heart of Australia.
Tye and Betty were awesome guides and kept things moving along really well. Campsites were great, food was awesome-nice to have some basic home cooking after travelling for weeks. Uluru was magical, especially the walk around the base for sunrise. I skipped heart attack hill in kings canyon but the river trail was beautiful. A lot of driving but it seemed to go quickly. Felt safe despite my worries about the creepy crawlers who live on the outback. Highly recommend this tour for people of all activity levels! You do have to beware of Tye’s awful jokes- come with a few of your own to give him a run for his money

Our tour was filled with great companionship, amazing views and an incredibly laid back and knowledgeable guide. The views of the stars at night were truly breath taking and will stick with me for the rest of my life. The sunrise hikes provided not only a cooler option to stay out of the midday sun but also beautiful photos that have my entire family jealous of this trip! Lastly, our guide Mishka West really made the trip worth while with his brilliant sense of humour and ease of approachability while on hikes. He was always happy to talk, usually had an answer to any questions about the surrounding area and wildlife and when stumped made it his mission to get us an answer as soon as he could. I was originally skeptical about this trip but I had a fantastic time and our guide really cemented my tour! Thank you for an amazing and unforgettable trip Mishka!!

Our guide, Mishka, was literally amazing. He managed to keep the whole group of 21 happy all the time even though it was a burning heat and we all run on 4 to 5 hours of sleep (you want to get up early since it's not as hot in the early mornings). Didn't run into any issues at all, the tour was planned and carried out smoothly. A recommendation for everyone who wants to experience the real Aussie Outback!

We went on the 3 day trip to Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon Camping
from Alice Springs from October 21st 2023 to the October 23rd 2023. The trip started in Alice Springs and headed to Uluṟu for a fantastic sunset to finish off day 1 and then a camp over night. Day 2 we took in a sun rise at Uluṟu and then set off to complete a trek around the Valley of the winds following which we camped over night. The 3rd and final day we did the trek around the Kings Canyon, and then headed back to Alice Springs. Our tour guide Ryan was brilliant. He went above and beyond to make our trip a very memorable one. He was very knowledgeable about all of the areas that we visited and

“Breathtaking unforgettable experience”
Over the past few weeks I have done both the Perth to Broome tour & Broome to Darwin tour. Both trips were incredible and honestly couldn’t recommend more.
My Perth to Broome tour (with guides Adam & Jack) gave me my first introduction into Western Australia and I loved very second of it. From the dolphins at Monkey Mia to the gorge walking in Karijini national park. The gorge walking was my favourite part of this trip with scrambling over rocks, scaling gorge walls and the odd swim in the cold Karijini water a must do to get to the great waterhole at the end of the gorge!
Broome to Darwin was next (with guide Rik) and i can say this was the best trip I have ever done. Camping in the outback, hiking at manning gorge, flying over the bungle bungles & a cruise at lake argyle were just some of the highlights of this trip! Amazing places to swim surrounded by wildlife, including the odd freshy. Maka’s campsite had the most amazing subset and sunrise location and each time we were the only people there! I would highly recommend paying for the extra helicopter ride over the bungle bungles and the sunset cruise at lake argyle
On both trips the guide were amazing. All very knowledgeable, treating us to talks on the local wildlife, landscapes and stars above us while also preparing some amazing food each day to enjoy round the campfire with the rest of the group!

“Most Wonderful Trip”
Darwin to Broome trip was amazing, so thrilling, fun, dirty and memorable! Shane our guide made camping for nine days easy, so organised and prepared. He also made sure we saw the best spots at the best times of the day. We loved the swimming, nature walks and laughs along the bumpy road. 10/10 Shane and Kimberely Adventure Tours. Pack lots of underwear as mostly just changing and swimming, there aren't any actual showers on this trip. Its a real Aussie outback adventure. Our tour group ranged from 20 years to 63 years and everyone was able to do everything.

This tour exceeded all of my expectations. I did not know what to expect as I had never done a tour like this, and was pleasantly surprised! It was indeed a once in a lifetime trip! Tim was most accomodating prior to the tour and our tour guide, Heath, was amazing. We went on great adventures with beautiful scenery and Heath made us all feel like we have known each other for years. He also endulged my love of cheese and good craic which was very special! The group dynamic was great as well and I now have new friends from all over the world with which I shared such special times. I would definitely recommend a tour like this any day!!

This is the ultimate fabulous 4WD camping trip in the Kimberleys. There is walking up and along rocks - easy pace and the magic watering holes, gorges, rivers and views make every step worth it. Never felt rushed, always time to totally enjoy the moment. Very organised, very professional. The camping gear was all good and swag comfortable - also tent available.
We were taken to the most gorgeous places and guided to get the best from every destination. Everyone was looked after. Thank you Sean - you are a legend and a GREAT cook. You certainly made a dream come true. It was the most awesome experience - so love the countryside. I totally recommend this camping trip.

The 9 day trip through the Kimberlys has been one of the best Trips I have ever done in Australia. The nature is fantastic and sleeping under the stars is just amazing. We explored wonderful gorges, did a lot of nice swims and walks (very brief recap of 9 wonderful days ;-))). Our Guide Trent was really knowledgable, a great cook and took care of everybodys needs.

This tour is the absolute best way to see the top end! The most fun and relaxed enjoyment you can experience in 10 days. Shane was our guide and our experience would not have been the same without him. Knowledgeable, fun, experienced, a great cook, guitar player, and singer;) My partner and I both agreed this was the best tour we have ever done. If you want a fun and relaxed bush camping experience this is the tour for you. If you can choose a tour led by Shane as you will remember and think about the tour long after you come back home. “Amazing adventure in beautiful Western Australia”
This 9 day tour from Broome to Darwin exceeded all my expectations. I knew from having done other trips to the top end and the West Coast that it would good but it was so much better! We started off in Broome and found ourselves on the Gibb river road before long. There are so many highlights which include Bell gorge, Manning gorge, El Questro and the Bungle Bungles at sunrise not to mention the scenery in general as we drove along the Gibb. However the absolute highlight would have to be the Lake Argyle cruise and multiple swimming spots, cliff jumps followed by a night under the starts on the isolated island. Waking up to the 5am sunrise on the island is something I will never forget. Aside from all these beautiful places the most enjoyable part of this trip was sharing it with a wonderful bunch of people and our adorable tour guide Heath. Most of us were strangers when we left from Broome and now most of us are great friends. The fun we had will never be forgotten. This trip was also very informative in terms of local ecology, Heath taught us about bush tucker, bush medicine, native flora and fauna and Aboriginal culture. anyone who is interested in seeing the Kimberley and all its natural beauty as well as having lots of fun and meeting new amazing people; then this is the trip for you!

If I could give this tour and tour guide Trent 10 out of 5 I would. I have dream t of going up the Gibb River road for along time and I wasn't disappointed. I don't have the words to describe what I saw, did, achieved and feel. I wanted the real camping (not clamping) and 4WD experience and thought to myself "now or never" and attempted more things than I thought I would. Thanks Trent for sharing the Kimberley's with us. I saw amazing waterholes and waterfalls, Australian animals in the bush and water, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, perfect rock formations and so much more. Sleeping under the stars and eating great camp food was fantastic. Nothing seemed to bother Trent and his boundless energy to do what ever he could to make the tour the best for everyone on board. I hope these tours will continue for many years to come as this is the real OUTBACK. I just finished a tour from Broome to Darwin and I must say it was one of the best tours I’ve done so far! I’m always a bit nervous to meet the group because you never know whether or not you will like the people. I was blessed! I was able to do this tour with a bunch of crazy, lovely, awesome people! It was a tour I will remember for the rest of my life. The guys on this tour and the tour guide made this tour.
It was quite hot so our tour guide tried to give us as many swim stops as possible so we could cool down, thanks! The food was amazing, the hikes were great. I would so do this trip again with the same people and same tour guide!!
Keep in mind that you don’t know who is going to be in your tour, you might like the people or you may not like them, but there is not much you can do about that. My piece of advice: try to make the best out of it and enjoy!

“Nine Day Broome to Darwin Trip”
Having already completed a 10 day tour with sister company Heading Bush, I was so impressed that I booked a 20 day tour, half with West Adventure Tours and half with Kimberly Adventure Tours. With Heading Bush we spent almost every night at real bush camps, did challenging hikes and learned a lot about Aboriginal Culture. The first leg of the 20 day tour operated by West Adventure Tours was not as intense, but still very much worth the time and money. See my 5-star reviews on both companies.
The itinerary and guide for Kimberly Adventure Tours were also top-notch. Our guide, Heath, was better organized and made better food than his collegues at Heading Bush and West Adventure Tours. It is incredible that he kept us on schedule considering the ground we covered.
I wish he emphasized Aboriginal culture more during the nine days. I also wish we camped more in private bush camps way off the beaten path more, as we had done with Heading Bush and West Adventure Tours, but the October heat and access to these kind of camps were limiting factors. Bush camping during early wet season rains is not my idea of fun.
The main disappointment however was the binge drinking by most others on the tour. That factor alone made this bush camping tour as authentic as Olivia Newton-John’s wrinkle-free face. Even Heath said he’d never seen a group drink so much. It was so extreme that I almost left after five days. This was not a bush tour. This was not even a tour for backpackers. It was a tour for alcoholics.
If I wanted to see a bunch of people get insanely drunk I could just go to any bar in W.A. after the AFL Finale. I can kick back a six pack of good craft beer by a campfire with the best of them, and certainly did so during my tours with Heading Bush and West Adventure Tours, but the binge drinking during this leg made me feel very uncomfortable. Especially disappointing was that much of the rapport developed with the other four that started the journey from Perth was ruined after picking up eight others in Broome, when the party and drinking component became unbalanced.
I began wondering if these people should join Keith Urban or Ben Stokes during their next rehab stint? They didnt seem to value much else than getting their grog on. One physician commented how she was drinking so much she was having problems with cognitive abilities, but still wanted a beer after breakfast. Beer-thirty is a good thing, but when it comes at six-thirty in the morning, or when a 30-something year-old physician is vomiting in the fire pit at El Questro, your group may have a drinking problem. After this crew, Heath is qualified to be a nanny or manage an rehab facility for alcoholics. In fact he may see some of this crew as future patients.
To avoid some of the pitfalls that dampened the experience, I suggest to not do this tour in October. It’s just too hot and rains can come at any time. And if you can muster up some other friends, do a private tour. This way you will not have to deal with the binge drinking drama, wondering if some hungover person sitting next to you will vomit on you.
“Trip of a lifetime”
I was a little nervous in the days before our trip - our family's part of the group ranged from preteen to late 70's*, and I was wondering how everyone would enjoy the trip.
I needn't have done :-D
Our trip was fantastic - great activities, incredible scenery, tasty food (& plenty of it), and lots of fun! Sean looked after us incredibly well; he was amazingly hard working, and looked out for every member of the group. This is an incredibly beautiful part of the world, and we feel very lucky to have explored it with Kimberley Adventure Tours.
This definitely isn't a luxury tour - but that's part of the appeal. Everyone takes part in collecting wood for the campfire. You sleep out under the stars in your swag (I cannot do justice to the beauty of gazing at the Milky Way as you lie in your bed). There are some days with hours in the truck (it's a long way from Broome to Darwin). There are jobs that always needs someone to help with - preparing food, washing up, repacking the truck in the morning, and not least, digging the dunny. But this was an essential part of what made the trip so amazing.
Thank you - we really will treasure these memories...
* Our late-70's person is pretty fit - regularly hiking & playing sport. This trip has a fair bit of clambering, not least to get in & out of the truck. It possibly won't suit everyone that age
“From Earth to the Stars, and everything in between, in just One ”

I picked Kimberley Adventure Tours, because they have smaller vehicles that would get further from the beaten track, to share experiences with an active group of travelers. I am so glad I chose the right tour for this "once in a lifetime" experience: travelling across the Kimberley.
The 4WD hummer sits where organized in a “U” shape that helps sharing with the others our experiences while traveling. The full air-conditioning, was not always necessary as the windows could be opened to get the morning breeze (later of course, windows closed and air-conditioning was demanded by the group).
But what was really exceptional, was our guide (Trent) who made our trip unforgettable, taking us to special spots having a great connection with the earth, rivers, animals and mountains (even the music that he plays to wake up us for the sunrise sighting was great). He managed the travelers group with smooth manners that makes easy to keep the group connection. Thanks Trent.
Trend turned to be a good driver, safe guide, aboriginal art teacher, chef and guru of the Kimberley nature. We have felt very safe with him, all the time (day and night). And we was also very happy of sleeping in the bush, next to boabs and under a thousand of stars that brought a smile to our face when we got to bed looking to them.
The downside of the trip is that after 8 nights touching the stars with our hands, we need to go back to grey concrete cities where we live. We miss Kimberly's land and skies.
“Beyond expectations”
This trip took camping to a whole other level. Sleeping beneath the stars and waking to birdsong at sunrise was only the beginning. Niall packed the days with adventure, local stories, delicious fresh food and a genuine love of country. Our girls (aged 10 & 12) especially loved swimming in a different gorge every day and the fire-side sing-a-longs. The ever changing beauty of The Kimberley has deepened our appreciation for Australia and the incredible connections our indigenous people have with its ancient history. We are so lucky to be able to access it and be touched by its spirit. Thank you Kimberley Adventure Tours.
“Awesome experience - Must do!”
Travelling solo is not always easy, especially if travel in more remote places. Doing the tour from Broome to Darwin with Kimberley Adventure Tours was the best decision I could have made.
Our guide Niall was not only incredibly experienced he also has an imense knowledge about flora and fauna in the area and we shared always a good laugh.
Sleeping under a 1000 stars, walking in breathtakingly beautiful gorges and refreshing ourselfs in nature pools. There is an adventure on every corner and you will most certainly have the best Kimberley experience possible.

“Amazing adventure ”
Every day from Broome to Darwin was an action packed adventure. The tour was lead by our exceptional tour guide Niall who was so competent in his knowledge about the Kimberlys and the surrounding wildlife. He was always professional and cooked up a great feed every evening! We were initially worried if we were able to handle the heat, however the structure of the day always catered for this and there was plenty of swimming most days which was always refreshing! Would definitely recommend this trip to all who seek adventure and want to see real Australia in it's most raw and natural state.

“Incredible experience”
As someone who had never been camping before, I was a bit nervous of doing this trip but it was one of the best experiences of my life! We had the opportunity to see so much incredible scenery, do some great hikes and swims and we felt very looked after by our guide Sean who cooked us delicious fresh meals every night. A really varied itinerary too and so well planned so it didn’t feel like we were driving too much. Also my partner Tom is partially sighted and despite struggling with some of the rockier hikes, he felt very comfortable giving it a go and didn’t feel any time pressure if things took him a bit longer so thanks Sean for accommodating his needs so well!
Really recommend this trip, nothing quite like falling asleep under the stars next to a lake and waking up to a beautiful sunrise every morning thanks so much Kimberley Adventure Tours! Ellie and Tom x
“Add to your family's holiday bucket list”
This holiday is a must for all families. The Kimberley is where heaven and earth touch with spectacular landscapes and starry nights so vivid you feel you can touch.
True to promotion and other reviews, this is real camping adventure to share especially with your teens; jumping into rock pools, walking through breathtaking gorges, camping on Lake Argyle, rough roads, swagging next to the camp fire, reading and swapping books. The remoteness is invigorating especially with the added bonus of no wifi or phone coverage. Delicious camp fire food that even the fussiest teen will eat … well done Tim on a true adventure that our family will never forget. Our teen girls are keen to go again … breakdown, crocs, thunderbox and all!
(and ladies, don't be put off by the thought of no loos ... there are frequent loo stops when travelling and each bus has a thunderbox for remote camping stops, so no squatting is required!)

“Adventure experience of a lifetime”
Where do I even begin to summarize the incredible nature of this tour. Days spent trekking through towering gorges, cooling off in clear blue water holes, nights spent sitting around a crackling fire, feasting on delicious fresh food cooked over the coals, sharing in laughter and stories. Waking up every single morning to the rising sun and the call of birds, and falling asleep beneath the vibrant milky way each night.
Though the tour only ran for 9-days, i feel as though i have been away for weeks, completely detached from the hustle and bustle of life.
I expected the Kimberley to be beautiful, but what I wasn't prepared for was the amazing group of individuals with whom I would share this adventure. Your tour group will literally become your family, and the shared experience is what makes this trip magical.
I will be forever grateful for our Guide Niall, as he truly made the experience what it was. His passion and enthusiasm for the local area, traditions, culture and wildlife are absolutely contagious, and you will find yourself hanging on his every word. His first hand experience of the Kimberley’s is second to none, and tales of his many adventures are a real asset to this tour. He handled every situation with expert care and ease, going above and beyond on countless occasions to ensure that every member of our group was comfortable, happy, and well looked after. Quickly acquiring the nickname of the ‘crocodile hunter’, he made it feel as though we were on a trip with the closest of friends, rather than a tour with strangers.
From day 1, you will be immersed in Australian culture, surrounded by jaw dropping natural beauty, and living up close and personal with the delightful Kimberley dust! Stints of sitting on the bus are rarely too long, broken up with service stops, short hikes, and lunch breaks at scenic locations. It is certainly no exaggeration in saying that the Gibb River Road is nightmarish in sections, but the corrugations do prevent you from getting restless legs!
Highlights of the trip for me were waking up to watch the sunrise every single morning and the sound of ‘Spirit Bird’ echoing through the camp.
Hiking through Manning Gorge was incredible, and upon reaching the end i wished i could turn around and do it all over again! Clambering over boulders, skipping from rock to rock, with long swims between sections of the bank, surrounded by the red rock cliffs. Having the whole group finish this trek was a magical experience and Niall is a true legend for encouraging us all to tackle it.
Emma gorge for me was the most breathtaking, and its diversity from what we had seen previously made it an absolute stand out in my eyes. Laying on your back, floating in the icy clear blue water, looking up the bright green moss covered cliffs, watching the 100m tall water droplets fall down to you as if in slow motion. A truly magical experience well worth the trek in.
Lake Argyle was a real surprise for me as i had no idea of its vastness and size. Cruising across the glass-like surface, the horizon looks like an enormous infinity pool that goes on forever. The sunset was as magical as expected, and there was a surreal element to camping on the island overnight. With several birthdays in our group, It did coin the name of ‘party island’, and it certainly lived up to its name! We were lucky enough to witness a ‘staircase’ over the lake as the full moon rose later in the night and the sunrise the next morning was like fire on the horizon, with the brightest of orange lighting the sky.
I could literally go on and on about the magical moments i had on this tour, but you need to experience it yourself to believe it! Strangely enough some of my favorite parts were actually the chores, collecting firewood, helping with the cooking, and setting/packing up camp each day. For anyone wanting to get a true taste of the Kimberley, and Australian Culture, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

“Broome to Darwin”
I initially booked this as a Perth to Darwin trip but due to numbers I was only able to complete Broome to Darwin section with this company.
I loved every minute of it, I am not normally a camping kind of person and I still didn't want it to end. The locations we camped in were great and away from all the other tourists and tour companies. It was nice to spend the evening watching the sunset around the camp fire and then looking up the stars as we fell asleep.
The food on tour was also 5 star, we got to experience different meals every night cooked on our camp fire and our tour guide was able to cater for everyone including vegans and vegetarians.
This tour was amazing and made even better with a very passionate tour guide that had so much knowledge that he was able to share with us. He was very organised and had us at the locations before any one else so that we got to experience them without the swarms of people.
There was lots of hiking, that including scrambling over rocks and uneven ground, swimming through waterholes and jumping into rock pools.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience Australia in a back to basics away, it is such a shame that I did not get to complete the Perth to Broome section with this company

Although I have never been a big fan of camping I decided to go on a trip through the Kimberleys the most "basic" way I could find - and it was the best decision I could have made. Our camps in the middle of the nowhere without any other people around in the most beautiful spots made the trip the special expirience it was... and by the second day not having any toilets or showers on the campsite didn't worry me at all! The nights around the campfire with great meals perpared by our guide Trent were the most relaxing evenings...
Trent made us get up with the birds every morning, so we could beat the crowds of other people in most places we went to. We discovered amazing Aboriginal art sites, gorges, went for plenty of swims in nice fresh water and met many friendly freshies along the way... Trent had an answer to just about any question we asked and told us heaps of intersting stories and facts about the Kimberleys, Australia, animals, birds,...
I went on the trip on my own without knowing anyone before and it was really easy to get in touch with the other people of the group. Make sure you bring a pair of good shoes, since there is a lot of climbing over rocks and boulders on the walks - after all it's called adventure tours... if you don't feel to comfortable swimming longer distances or in deep water like I do don't worry - there are a few pool noodles on the truck!
“Epic scenery, big distances, wonderful tour”
They don’t lie in their advertising. This was an adventure from day one. Although things didn’t always go to plan, the tour company handled the issues well.
Our guide (Niall) gave us a real feel for the country and it felt more like a camping trip with friends rather than an regimented, time focus tour. Camping under the stars each night, most nights away from camping grounds and other tours, meant we had unique experience every day. Meals most nights where done on a campfire which just added to the great experience.
I can not think of a better way to see this part of the continent in such a short time. This was probably the best tour i’ve ever done.

“Best Adventure of my family's life, thank you Shane our tour gui”
We went on the Broome to Darwin 9 day tour with Kimberley adventure tours. It is a trip of a life time!. The Kimberley changes you! My husband and 11 year old daughter want to go back every year! It wouldn't have been so life changing without our Warrior of a guide Shane! He is the perfect balance of passion and knowledge. He had special stories about every single place we visited, he is also fun and caring. The kids adored him, jumping off cliffs and swinging off ropes, he inspired you to try things that you would never have imagined trying. He also can cook, he served up delicious food around the campfire every night.
We were up every morning before sunrise and watched every sunset in the most spectacular places. We learnt about indigenous culture and had spiritual moments. One was in the Cathedral Gorge with a child from our tour singing. Breathtaking!

“Trentastic awesome tour with seven amigos!”
Back in the uk after a 10 day tour with Trent and 7 others from Germany , Australia and Netherlands. The trip was a bucket list and we made friends which we will have for the rest of our lives. The people and Trent made the tour visiting only places he and Kimberly adventure know about. A true asset to the company, wow did he know his flora, fauna, aboriginal art and way out scenery. We are nearly 60 and a bit over weight, but we did everything swimming, rock bouldering and swimming. Camping using Dutch ovens roast beef, barramundi, and peach cake all cooked on coals, and a frilled neck lizard to finish up with, I want to do it again, it was amazing the friends we made were brilliant . I am so impressed I have bought a swag and a Dutch oven for use here at home, Angus and Joy Cottey, UK We just lack the southern night sky. Lake argyle camping just awesome.
“Amazing Adventure Tour of the Kimberley's”
I am so grateful to the KAT team for the extra effort put in to keep this tour on the road, with only a delay of a day and all the organisation gone into finding a driver and vehicle at very short notice so we could all enjoy this amazing adventure of the Kimberley's.
Ben was an amazing tour leader (not guides on this trip) he was so energetic and full of stories to keep us entertained for the 9 days/nights. He was an amazing cook and he worked tirelessly from sunrise (morning song) to swag time to make sure we were all happy.
We visited amazing spots and did some amazing walks, we camped at very secluded spots and had a good mixture of people in our group tour.
Fantastic memories created and great to meet you Tim & Duffy in Darwin.

“True adventure in the Kimberleys!”
What can I say about this trip - absolutely outstanding. While the spectacular beauty of the Kimberleys is ever present, this adventure was made complete by our super guide Beno. Called up at the last minute, we were all very grateful for his commitment to ensure our trip went ahead with his epic mission from Darwin in under 48hours. From guiding us through gorges and off rock jumps, his zest for life was infectious and really created a fun atmosphere within the group. Not to mention looking after us all with his exceptional masterchef skills and musical entertainment around the fire - thank you!
Expect to see beautiful gorges, waterfalls and breathtaking mountains but to get the most from this adventure be prepared for swimming, hiking and scrabbling over rocks. Whilst there are easier options for those less able, a degree of fitness is really required.
My highlights were missioning it down the stunning Manning Gorge, sharing a moment of tranquility in the very special Cathedral Gorge and of course watching the sunset whilst sipping mojitos on Lake Argyle. In addition, the feeling of absolute escapism is something I will treasure.
A huge thank you again to Beno and the crew for the trip of a lifetime!
“Adventure of a lifetime”
Wow, wow, triple wow!!! I have no words to describe this trip, as it definitely was a trip of a lifetime!
My husband and I took the 10 day tour from Broome to Darwin, enjoying one outstanding day after another. Thanks to our amazing guide Trent we were offen the first to go on trails, explore gorges, take a dip in remote pools, and so much more.
What we enjoyed most was that it really was an adventure tour - and this means a lot, me being a city girl... But we loved going on difficult hikes, with amazing waterfalls as reward, we went swimming with freshies, collected firewood, slept in swags and admired unbelievable sunsets and moonrises.
Every night we set up camp at a unique spot, all different, but equally gorgeous. There, Trent took care of our wellbeing by preparing really great fresh meals - he even surprised me with a birthday pie on the fire (thx again!!!)!
We learned so much about plants, animals (especially birds, as they are his favourite ;P), the places we visited - so basically everything we encountered - from Trent, and he really made us excited about the Kimberley!
So if you're planning on exploring the Kimberley and if you're willing to get dirty for this adventure instead of just exploring through the windows of a 25-people-bus - I cannot praise Kimberley Adventure Tours highly enough!
“"Unbelievable"”
My wife and I were looking forward to this holiday but had no real idea what it would be like or how we would fit in with the 12 other people for 8 nights bush camping.
From the moment we were picked up by Shane in "Tonka" we were immediately made welcome and our adventure began. Shane's ability to draw out the best from the diverse group of people was immediately evident and his cheeky/fun personality was infectious.
I can't recall being so completely transfixed by the locations I was taken to over the those 9 days. I think this was because Shane was able to speak with knowledge about the aboriginal heritage of the area, geology, flora and fauna.
The food was fantastic and a highlight of the day was watching Shane "whip up" another masterpiece using the camp fire. He is a wizard at bringing it all together.
I met the most amazing people during the trip and we formed great friendships.
The tracks were rough in some areas and this resulted in a significant break down coming out of the Bungle Bungles. It was too much for Tonka and he retired hurt for the rest of the adventure. In true bush spirit Shane was able to facilitate another vehicle, find another camp site and cook up the best meal.
The whole experience has been quite transformational for me. I feel more connected and grounded. Thank you Shane (and FMDM) I hope I can repay the favour to you in some way

We had been wanting to visit the top end for a long time and finally chose the Kimberley Adventure Tours Broome to Darwin 9 day adventure. We had an amazing time and I feel the bush camping just helped us appreciate the country so much more. We had sunrise, sunsets and the night skies all from our swags. We were so lucky to have Trent as our tour guide, driver and food organiser. We arrived at our spectacular locations at the best time of day, learned about the areas we visited, bush camped at isolated areas just to our group and cooked our evening meals in camp ovens over the fire. The food was fresh, healthy, varied and delicious- something often missing on holidays. If you don’t mind doing without some conveniences I would highly recommend this tour as it was such a memorable way to be immersed in the fabulous Kimberley environment with each day bringing a new highlight. “10 day Broome to Darwin trip”
This trip is up there with my life highlights. Trent, our guide, is a super young man. His attention to detail, knowledge of the outback, humour, enthusiasm and encouragement made my trip. I felt safe and while out of my comfort zone, i enjoyed every minute. The walks can be challenging,the swimming is wonderful and the meals were soooo good after a long day. “The Best”
Kimberley was fantastic, 10 day trip from Broome to Darwin. So much to see and experience.
Our guide Shane was the best of the best, clearly loves the country and was with us every step of the way, every bump, twist and turn... He did everything, driving, camp fire building, cooking, telling us all about each place including the Aboriginal background, entertaining us and always being one step ahead with what needed to be done to get the best visits and thinking about what we wanted too.
Expect very early starts, heat and dirt and to have to muck in, but rewards of great bush tucker and fascinating sights and experiences, along with excellent care and an overall brilliant time.
We were lucky to also have the best group ever, with everyone adding to the overall experience.
“10 Day Broome to Darwin”
The trip was a fabulous experience of both the KImberley's and the Northern Territory. Very enjoyable to sleep under the stars every night and to do some things I would never have dreamt of being able to do. The scenery is incredible.
We were very lucky to have Trent as our "super guide". The knowledge, experience and enthusiasm of the guide is the determining factor in making a trip like this a success or not and Trent was everything we could have asked for.

My girlfriend and I have just returned home from going on the adventurous trek from Broome to Darwin . Our guide Trent was just amazing, his knowledge of the outback is very extensive and educational. We had a great day everyday on this adventure, gorges, hiking, swimming are daily activities. Trent enlightened our group with these amazing adventures that left us with a huge wow factor. This is one trip my girlfriend and I will never forget. We really enjoyed Trent's gourmet meals that he delivered every night they were so delicious it was hard not to go back for seconds. We loved all the sunrises and all the sunsets and most of all laying down on our swags gazing up at the Milky Way. Trent thank you for such a fantastic holiday you are a credit to Kimberly Adventure Tours. I strongly recommend this trip it's awesome.

My biggest thanks goes to our tour guide Trent. Thanks to him every day was full of highlights, we learned a lot about the Kimberley area, we had delicious meals cooked on the campfire and we felt safe at any time during the trip.

“Beyond my expectations”
A trip that had everything - the days were full of activity, challenges and fun. Trent, our guide, had everything happening seamlessly - he was extremely well organised in his quiet way - the logistics for this type of trip must be huge but he made it seem like little effort. I have been on many various trips with guides, and Trent would be up there with the best of them. This trip is for those with the right attitude who are willing to go outside their comfort zone occasionally and also are willing to help out with packing up, cooking, cleaning, collecting firewood etc. The rewards of seeing sunrises/sunsets and going to amazing spots where many public don't go, are immense. My highlight (of which there are many) was probably sleeping under the stars
“Every Single Day is Outstanding !!”
The 10-day Broome to Darwin was a total adventure and surpassed all of my expectations.
Our guide Shane provided a generosity of knowledge, enthusiasm, love of country, cracker jokes and a fantastic soundtrack. As an adventure there were hiccups along the way such as flat tyres and later than expected Chopper flights, however Shane's initiative and flexibility were spot on..
The early rises were worth every opportunity to have the Gorges, Waterholes, hikes and sunrises all to ourselves. The trek through Manning Gorge was unforgettable and the magic of Cathedral Gorge was incredibly special.
Sleeping on swags / tents under the billions of stars was the most unexpected surprise, I've never seen anything like it before and have been raving about it to anyone who will listen.
I was lucky enough to have an amazing group of people of all ages and some from around the globe.
Lots of laughter, lots of fun.
I did not sleep very well at all the entire trip as a swag on the ground is not my usual glamping but I'll know for the next one to bring an extra roll of padding.
Some plungers and decent coffee are the only other things I can possibly think of that could've added to this trip.
These things seemed so irrelevant at the time as I was too busy having such a great time.
This really is a bucket list experience. I'd do it all over again.

“This is a must tell experience with Kimberley Adventure Tours”
With a wee bit of trebidation I joined our group of 13 with Shane as our "family leader" guide, driver, mechanic,cook, naturalist, lover of music and great guy. We began in Broome and over our 9 days together travelled the kimberley outback over the gibb river dust road, swiming in so many beautiful waterholes and canyons with wonderous immence cliffs. Collecting fire wood for our evening dinners aroung our campfire. We were challenged each day to see the sunrise and sunset - always spectacular and memorable.
Always first to experience the tunnels or gorge for the day Shane encouraged our appreciation of the history with great stories and music which echoed throughout the trip.
Thanks so much to Shane for his heatfelt approach and to all the wonderful buddies I was privileged to meet, who helped me in so many ways ... least of all to laugh at oneself and chill.... thats what I'm doing now

“Its all about the guide”
I have just completed the 9 day Broome to Darwin tour with my wife, 10 year old daughter and her friend. I want to express my admiration for the professionalism of our guide Shane. Nothing was too much trouble and he was quick to recognise the group dynamic and keep things together the whole way. Reading people and their strength/weaknesses is a great skill and Shane has this rare ability. I wish him every success in life because he works hard and actually cares about the tour, the land, the custodians of the land and the wildlife. His spirituality and love for life rubbed off on me, my family and the rest of the tour group. We all came away enriched with a greater understanding of not only the area but life itself. I could do the tour with my own 4 wheel drive but no amount of research could match Shane's knowledge and genuine love of the area. Well done! A tip I can give is to bring only one camera as I spent a lot of time switching between charging camera batteries for a GoPro, SLR and waterproof camera- there is limited charging available for I-phones, camera batteries etc! My family loved it so much we might have to make it a twice in a lifetime experience. A girl from our tour group sang in the Cathedral Gorge in the Bungle Bungles and it was the highlight of the tour for me, very moving Thanks to my fellow travellers for all pitching in and making the trip truly memorable. “Spectacular scenery, awesome guide, the best way to experience t”
I took my two grandchildren aged 12 and 8 during school holidays. We had an amazing time action packed time and we didn't want it to end. Although we are used to camping this trip was much more close to nature. Our first time sleeping in swags, looking up at the stars each night. Cooking over an open fire, Trent our guide came up with delicious meals. It is fast paced due to having lots to see and it is worth the early morning starts to get to the spectacular gorges and lookouts before the crowds. On this tour we saw and experienced far more than I had expected. Lots of hiking, swimming, wonderful scenery, changing 4 flat tyres (handy skill my my grandson learnt) as well as Trents willingness to share his knowledge made this such a memorable trip. The Kimberley is everything and more than I had expected. Awesome !
“Broome to Darwin, not bad.”
Absolute cracker of a trip I cannot recommend enough, not bad to say the least. Stunning experience swimming in remote waterholes, climbing waterfalls, camping under the stars and taking in some stunning vistas. Trent may look like a 16-year-old girl who has spent too much time in the sun but he really made the trip, passionate, knowledgeable and a consummate professional.

This trip, we did Broome to Darwin, was a series of wonderful days, one after another, great camping locations, great swims, wonderful sunsets, beautiful gorges and a super guide. I highly recommend travelling on this trip.
“Amazing scenery, great swims, fun camping”
It looks like a lot of driving, and it is, but what driving! Stunning and varied scenery, river crossings and lots of interesting stops. With Shane in charge, it's rare to drive for more that an hour and a half before you come to a roadhouse or stop to look at something. Shane has a real depth of love for the area and interest in the place and its people (Thanks for recommending "Jandamarra and the Bunuba Resistance", Shane).
We were in a group of 13 (aged 11-66) --a great group of people who all pulled their weight in the camp activities. Making camp and helping with the food is all part of the fun. You don't get waited on on this trip! The camping itself is wonderful -- sleeping under a full moon and then under the Milky Way was just amazing. Food was plentiful and good, cooked with flair on the big fire.
This is a great trip for swimmers, with at least one swim every day. The swims are also the way you get clean. Showers? Toilets? Internet? Pajamas? Ha ha.
Bring boots for the walks -- a lot of them are on river beds over cobblestones.
We had a breakdown on the second day. This serious problem was brilliantly solved by Shane and a whole team of people in a complex series of phone calls (complex because mobile phones seldom work in this area). We ended up being delayed only by a couple of hours. We had a brief experience of luxury buses, and then got two vehicles, complete with Aaron, a second guide. Many thanks to all who sorted this out -- it must have meant the company made little profit from our group and a less committed company would have put us on the Greyhound bus back to Darwin.

“Kimberley Tour”
My mum and I went on the 9-day Broome to Darwin trip in June this year. It was such an amazing journey through the Kimberley. Bush camping, hiking and swimming in some of the most beautiful locations I've ever seen. It was made all the better by our guide Trent's knowledge and genuine love of the region. I would whole-heartedly recommend this trip to anyone.
“A lifetime experience with the best tour ever!”
We took our 7 year old son, who is high-functioning autistic, on the Broome to Darwin trip. Thanks to our tour guide, Duffman and the incredible group we travelled with, our adventure was the best family holiday we've had! What can be more spectacular than sleeping under the stars, waking up to amazing sunrises, spectacular sunsets and camp fire dinner/drinks. I've travelled to over 30 countries around the world, been on many tours, but I'm totally blow away by the Kimberley region and the way this tour was managed. Thanks guys at KAT, you are 10/10!!
“An unforgettable, epic adventure of a lifetime!”
What started out a little bumpy, turned out to be one of the best travelling experiences we have ever had. Our fantastic group of 11 adults and 9 kids were a well drilled machine by the end of the trip, our days filled with breathtaking gorges, sensational hikes, delicious meals and swagging under the stars. Tim took us to places we could never have seen on our own, with a highlight being getting up at 4.30am to walk into the Bungle Bungles in the dark to see the sunrise. Incredible.
Sunset drinks and waking to see the sunrise over Lake Argyle, the creation story told by Bill while showing us ancient rock art, hiking and swimming the length of the river out of Manning Gorge, getting up close to freshwater crocs at Windjana Gorge - so many memories.
If you want your kids to remember what it's like to make their own fun, play cards, read books around the camp fire, learn about aboriginal culture, help with cooking and washing up, jump off cliffs into magic fresh water lakes and rivers, adventure their way along rivers and boulders and appreciate the real Australia, then you really can't go past this trip.
Make sure you bring good sturdy shoes, a good head torch, and pack light if you can.
If you're wondering whether or not to book this trip with Kimberley Adventure Tours, do it. You won't regret it, and you will certainly never forget it.

“The Kimberley”
Just came back from 3.5 month traveling and one of the highlights of my journey was definitely the trip from Broome to Darwin! Trent was our tour guide and showed us the most mind-blowing waterfalls and nature!! Every night we had the best food and stories around the fire! I had a great 10 days!
“We became a tribe”
We went on the family tour - this meant we had four kids on tour from 7-13. One Poppy, 3 mums, 2 dads and two overseas single travellers, by the end of the tour we were our own tribe, where everyone pitched in and looked out for each other. With an age range of 7-69. Duffman did well to cater for everyone, in regards to food, physical and mental health. Duffman must be commended for his ability to be positive through everything that is thrown at him. The vehicle threw a code after the Bungle Bungle track, even though it needed to be fixed, we did not feel that we missed out on anything. Duffman just changed the itinerary and added a few extra excursions for the parts that we missed. So you didn't feel like you missed anything. Duffman goes above and beyond for his tribe including losing a knuckle and still twirling a fire stick. Driving until 11pm and still cooking a meal for everyone. One amazing person.
“Stunning country”
We, two 60yr olds, did this trip recently and had a wonderful time. KAT delivered what it promised which was getting away from crowds, real bush camping, sleeping under the stars in swags every night, swimming in stunning rock holes with no-one else and campfire cooking. Our guide Trent was terrific, a treasure for the company. He was patient, considerate, a very safe driver, whipped up great food and an was informative guide. He has fantastic organisational skills and was excellent at looking after our diverse group.
This is not silver service, it's hands on helping with food prep, cleaning up, packing up and firewood collecting. Need to be fairly fit and mobile. Lots of bush toilet stops, bathing in cool rock holes, sometimes with fresh crocs nearby. Also plenty of opportunities for coffee at truck stops so bring your keep-cup!
It would be good for KAT to provide some assistance for the guide at the start and end of the trip as they are long full days and Trent was always working with good humour to make the best trip possible for us. We did enjoy the mixed ages and the friendly companionship. Meeting elder Bill Harney and visiting rock art on his home lands was a highlight. This is not on the usual tourist tours. Thanks to Tim at KAT for providing a backup truck which in the end we did not need. A memorable trip and highly recommend.
“Totally awesome exhilarating experience”
Sleeping under the stars was breathtaking in the pristine wilderness of central Australia. Wayne, our guide, chef, driver, and accommodation provider, was faultless. First-class meals prepared and cooked from scratch by Wayne. We felt safe and happy at all times despite the Covid19 pandemic. Wayne was in daily contact with his employer and authorities via satellite phone even when we were out of range on our mobiles. Wayne was a very experienced and safe driver at all times. He coped brilliantly with each twist and turn of the lockdown, altering our plans to accommodate authorities and his boss.

“Awesome adventure”
Just completed 10 days Broome to Darwin. It was a fantastic trip and was really well organised. Trent was the best guide. He had spectacular private camp sites every night, he was considerate of everyone, a great driver and a great cook! He also had lots of local information to share. If you want to get a real feel for the Kimberley’s then this trip is it. Swags under the the stars every night and camp fires. Don’t expect hot showers or luxury but the truck had everything we needed. Expect to pitch in and help with camp chores. So many highlights to experience it is difficult to mention them all- lots of swimming,not so many long hikes as I expected but spectacular scenery and I enjoyed every minute. Great variety of activities and although we had great distances to travel it was always split up with rest stops which even included coffee stops! Some roads were very rough but that was all part of the trip. I am older age (62) but don’t let that stop you if you are reasonably fit and in for an adventure!! I would do it all again!!
“Adventure In The Kimberley”
Just returned back to the UK after a month long trip to Australia. The first part of my trip was with Kimberley Adventures on the Broome to Darwin tour, it was absolutely amazing and the guide 'Trent' was fantastic. It really was an adventure, outdoor camping (saw the stars every night) delicious meals cooked in the fire and incredible walks/swims going to places where no other tours go. Trent was great making sure we made the most of every moment and also training us to set up, put down camp. We were fully trained by the end - shame we had to leave. I'd recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys adventure, is prepared to 'muck in' and not to worried about not having a wash for a few days (swims always possible). The Kimberley itself is an amazing landscape and I've fallen in love with the Boab trees, so nice falling to sleep and seeing these amazing trees through the darkness. It was so great I'd like to do it again!
“Epic Trip”
There are a few options if you are travelling Broome to Darwin on a Tour. Glad we chose this one. We chose KAT because it was small group, sleeping in swags and going to more than just the usual places. Capacity is 13 we had 7 which made for a great team but sadly not so good financially for the owners. The little yellow truck got in under the radar to some cool out of the way bush camps and with the exception of Manning Gorge were never close to any other tours. Cooking on the camp fire (you gather the wood) by driver/guide Sean was always very good and some times exceptional. Sleeping under the stars in a swag, highly recommended - especially as nights were hot (although can be cold apparently). Highlights were Bungle Bungles and Manning Gorge swim through. Programme is busy, fast-paced and jam-packed - a strength and a weakness. Some locations would have warranted more time and a few things felt rushed, but thats just our opinion. Driver-guide was new to this route so was not up on all the information. Sense of humour generally good but a bit brash at times. We thought the locations merited peace and quiet in the mornings to max out on the atmosphere, but we felt music intruded a bit at times.

I had the most amazing time traveling from Broome to Darwin with Kimberly Adventures Tours! This trip is definitely an adventure with lots of walking and swimming in the most beautiful locations, admiring the local wildlife, as well as sleeping in swags and looking up into the bright starry sky every night. Trent, our guide, was excellent. He was a fantastic cook (and easily catered for different diets), had a lot of knowledge about area and it’s history, was very patient and easy going, and really made my trip enjoyable. Can’t wait to travel back to this part of Australia again soon!
“No regrets”
An amazing trip!! I was absolutely blown away by the landscape and destinations we visited. Plenty of short bushwalks leading to serene waterfalls and gorges. Once off the Gibb River Road exploring the Bungle Bungles and Lake Argyle are both must do’s. This trip includes a boat trip on Lake Argyle with an overnight camp on one of the private islands.
The tour itself is well thought out, the bus and trailer fitted with all our camping needs with just the right amount of creature comforts for a (not too modern) outback adventure- air conditioner and plenty of USB charging ports.
Our guide Nicko was awesome, very informative, friendly and easy going. We all helped with the cooking but Nicko whipped up some delicious food along the way, he catered for members of our group who are gluten intolerant and vegan without a fuss and taught us that camp dinners can be just as good (if not better) than cooking at home. Could not have had a better guide.
It was a great change to go camping stress free! No need to worry about food, cooking gear, gas, swags, tents, planning destinations, wear and tear on the vehicle, camping fees, driving all day, fuel prices- they take care of everything!
Saying that tho I would recommend this trip to people who enjoy camping and getting amongst nature. Toilets and showers aren’t always available and the bush walks include a lot of rock scrambling, so be prepared it is physical.
10/10 would recommend to anyone who thinks they’re ready to tackle the Kimberley’s.

me and my husband recently went on the tours from Broome to Darwin. what unique and fantasica tours experience . we absolutely loved and I highly recommend .it's not most luxury tours. but it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you will treasure forever. we have exceptionally super good tourist guide Nick . excellent cooking excellent multitask . have a passion for wildlife and natures . have the ability to show us the true Kimberly. we have the opportunity to get to know all our travel buddies . that's also best the part of tours as well .

“Amazing Adventure”
This tour is exactly as explained: an adventure tour. If you enjoy sitting in a bus all day, getting off to take a picture for 5 mins then moving on and staying in a 5 star resort then this is not for you. If you can't easily hike 5 km then you may struggle with a few of the activities but you can sit them out if you want to be boring.
It was definitely one of the most memorable experiences of my life. A special mention to our tour guide Duffman. He was very knowledgeable, patient, friendly, funny and resourceful. His cooking exceeded my expectations for camp food and every night was a delicious meal.
The tour offers the things that you wouldn't find on your own such as very well hidden aboriginal artwork and spotting wild animals.
It is real camping complete with swags under the stars, campfire cooking, a "bush dunny" and no showers (although you have the opportunity to do a fair bit of swimming).
The only criticism is that the bus can be quite crowded and not all the USB chargers were working so a powerbank is recommended if you use your phone for pictures.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I very highly recommend it.
“Great trip with Nicko our guide”
Really enjoyed the overland trip Broome to Darwin. Nicko took us to great places, and he does great camp cooking. The group size of nine on our trip made it easy to get to know each other.
The island stay on Lake Argyle and meeting Boris, the freshwater crocodile, was a highlight of the trip.
“Awesome adventure with great food, entertaining and hard-working”
I (31) did this tour in june 2018 with my girlfriend (34) who was in her fifth month of pregnancy and it was one of the most memorable experiences in my whole life.
This is an adventure tour. This means the following:
* You will be sleeping in a tent or under the clear sky in a sleeping bag in the bush
* It can be quite cold (down to 0° C) in the outback, make sure that you have a warm jumper. Pro tip: You can close your swag over your head.
* You have to wake up most of the days with the sunrise which is in Western Australia around 5:30 am in Northern Territory at 7:00 am. One time we woke up at 3:30 am to see a beautiful sunrise
* You will only have a warm shower and a flushing toilet on road houses or caravan parks. On the campsites there is a bush dunny.
* Your drinking and hand washing water comes out of multiple tanks
* You will be sitting in a truck for around 30 hours driving 2500km through australia
* Around 1300km are unsealed roads and around 150km are very rough
* You can only charge your phone while the truck is running
* You have to collect your own fire wood
* If you need hot water, you have to start a fire and cook it first
So why should you do this tour?
Our guide James Duffy a.k.a. Duffman was one of the most impressive persons I ever met. The different jobs he did gracefully were: beeing a tour guide, fixing the truck, doing shows and entertainment on the evenings and cooking dinner. He was always decent and welcoming. Duffman had great knowledge about the country and the people and took us to a lot of secret places.
The tour started in broome where we were picked up. The truck was scheduled for 6am and showed up at 7am. Were were the last to be picked up. Be a little bit patient. A soft bag or backpack that weights no more than 15kg makes sense because there is only limited space and all bags have to be unloaded and loaded daily.
Everything gets dirty in the kimberleys so don't take expensive dresses with you.
We were a mix of 12 awesome people with different backgrounds that worked gratefully together.
The highlights of our tour were:
- An old boab tree
- The whole Gibb River Road
- Windjana Gorge
- Bell Gorge
- Tunnel Creek at night
- Tour through Manning Gorge including rock art (1,5 hours of walking in the heat and 3 hours of swimming. If you are not a good swimmer you can walk back)
- Emma Falls at El Questro
- Having scons at ellenbrae station
- Seeing crocodiles at multiple places
- The Bungle Bungles (Purnululu National Park). You can book a helicopter flight for 30 minutes for $399 per person. We did that but I don't think that you miss a lot if you don't book the flight.
- Lake Argyle with the young skipper Mitch and the possibility to do some rock jumping, be careful it is dangerous and Mitch is quite good at rock jumping
- Edith Falls
We saw the following animals:
- Crocodiles
- A Snake
- Multiple birds
- Toads
- Frogs
- Wallabies
- Wallaroos
- Kangaroos
- Lizards
- A lot of kettle (Brahman and Shorthorn)
- Different kind of fish
- Brumbies (wild horses)
- Wasp nests
- Green ant nests
A short summary of the dishes that I can still remember that Duffman cooked in the evenings over the fire as dinner:
- Potato and sweet potato bake
- Green curry with chicken
- Lamb with vegetables
- Steak and sausages with coleslaw and noddle salad
- Spaghetti bolognese (with meat and without meat)
- Chicked with mixed vegetables
- Roast turkey and roast beef
- Damper
Useful things you should bring with you:
* Beer
* A warm sleeping bag
* A warm jumper
* A head mounted torch
* Working gloves
* A lighter
* Swimmer shoes
* Sun protection
* Mosquito protection
* Plasters
* Tweezers
* Multiple cheap sun glasses (you might break or loose one)
Besides the awesome experience there are a few things where is room for improvement. It would have been nice if all 6 usb outlets in the truck would have been working. I could also imagine that a helping hand for Duffman in Broome and Darwin when preparing the bus would be helpful. A clear measurement of fitness level like you should be able to run 10k under an hour for doing all the acitivies would be nice. A short message when the pick up is later than 6:30 would have been nice. Add gloves to the "What do I need to bring?" list in the FAQ.
Overall it was an amazing experience that I will never forget. Thanks a lot to all the participants and the guide who made this a wonderful endeavor on the australian continent.
“West is the best”

I was one of 13 on the first trip of the season, after coming off the Perth to Broom adventure, which had been amazing. I was lucky to have met Niall our guide as he had joined our trip two days before we got to broom, and what a credit to the company he is, with his organisation skills, knowledge of the region and its geological history and his love of the wild life was refreshing, Catering for dietary needs was outstanding having Vegans vegetarians is a challenge! his meals were to die for, all cooked on the open fire , even baked a cake.
Niall would always be on the look out for wild life to find us,be it a fresh water crocodile, lizard, Frog, sadly we never came across any spiders or snakes but I’m sure he would have been right there! Through out the 9 days we had two punctures on the trailer, which he just took in his stride fixing them in no time at all, even when the whole wheel came off the bumble bee on the last day, only being 1 and a half hrs from Darwin! He just got on and dealt with it without a fuss. He was our Hero!!
Our day would start at 5am before the sunrise, rolling up our swags, all working as a team to get things out for breakfast, washing up and then packing everything up in to our 4x4 the bumble bee..... ready to hit the road by 7am to our next adventure. We would stop at lunch time and it would be all hands on deck, getting everything out chopping salads to put in our delicious wraps, and then clean up pack away and on our way again. We would stop and collect wood so we could set up our fire when we arrived at camp which would be around Sunset or after.....( there was just 1 person in the group I felt didn’t pull their weight,but wasn’t going to let them spoil my trip)
Sleeping out in a swag was amazing, even being so hot and not being able to sleep, looking up and seeing the Southern cross / The Milky Way and other constellations.... I was in my element! (may be invest in a small fan)
our adventures would consist of going to the Kimberly region with its rugged ranges dramatic gorges isolated coast line, taking in the amazing scenery of the landscape, Hiking through those gorges swimming in billabongs, the Argyle lake which was breathtaking, sleeping on an isolated island on the lake , another special day was spent swimming and hiking through Manning gorge ...what an awesome adventure !!
Another day Arriving at the bungles, we rose at 4am and drove and walked for half hr to watch the colour of the rock formation change as the sun rose....Stunning.... Then a few of us took the opportunity to take a helicopter ride over the Bungles just takes your breath away!! And walking in the Purnululu national park among the bungles. Every day we were swimming in pools with spectacular waterfalls, most days with the fresh water crocks so exciting!
I could go on and on, I loved the whole experience and would do it all over again tomorrow.

“Wonderful bush camping experience”
This is a perfect adventure for those who like to get off the beaten track and sleep under the stars. Everyday was a new experience, a new water hole, gorge, lake, hot spring, swim and walk. Trent our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the region and its geological and Indigenous history. He cooked well on the camp fire including vego and was very supportive of all on the tour including me, a basic swimmer with my noodle on the big swim at Manning Gorge. Absolutely fantastic. Of course the scenery incredible. No one place stood out for me. All stops had their own beauty. The tour includes pick up and drop off at your accomm. So if you don't mind sleeping in a swag, roughing it a bit, sleeping under the stars, seeing Freshies and having a great outdoor adventure then this tour will give you a wonderful adventure.

Huge shout out to Niall for being a laid back yet engaging guide helping the group push themselves and get a real sense of adventure in this beautiful part of Australia! The highlight for me was the route back from Manning gorge barefoot, something only this company do (you don't have to do it barefoot tho)!
If you like lots of hiking, swimming and exploring this is the tour for you, be warned there aren't a lot of facilities. I think we had showers for three of the nine days. If you like swag camping in the bush, you'll love this tour.

“Best tour of Australia”
I did whole Australia but this tour is absolutely the best! Almost everyday campfire, cooking on the campfire. You swim everyday at beautiful spots and not forget to mansion lake Argy what was stunning! We had the best tour guide there is in Australia thanks Trent your awesome and I will see you again!
“What an amazing trip/experience ”
Niall our tour guide was amazing, he really knew what he was talking about and was eager to show us everything. The places we saw where beautiful and so different to the rest of Australia. We had most of the places we visited to ourselves! I did struggle a bit with the camping side of things as I dont normally go for as long. Had to get use to peeing in the Bush!
“Amazing”
We did the Broome Darwin tour with our guide Trent.
We were a group of 11 . We all agreed to say that it was just an incredible journey through the Kimberley.
Trent knew few places where we were the only ones to access. We discovered aboriginal arts in some remoted caves. We swam in rivers. We slept on an uninhabited island on Lake Argyle. Trent always was on top of his game. We can't thank him enough for his professionalism his knowledge and also for his amazing cooking skills!!
We can't wait to go on another tour with him.
“A great way to see this remote region of Australia”
This is the way the Kimberley should be experienced, up close and personal with the rugged scenery - no glamping. Cooking fantastic meals on a camp fire and sleeping with a perfect view of the Milky Way overhead. Our guides Niall and Mick are real adventurers and they drew each of us into this spirit of adventure.The places we visited were breathtaking and some were extra special because they were places infrequently visited by other tours (a special touch added by Niall and Mick). Great fellow travellers too. Loved it.
“Amazing and breath taking”
One of the Best tours I have ever done in Australia and I have already done a lot. The beautiful landscape and the organisation of the tour Was perfect. We made IT nearly very time to Set up the Camp before Sunset. Our guide Trent did a very good Job - a lot Information, good cooking, plenty of Snacks. We also were a good Group and Teamwork was amazing. I enjoyed IT so much that I will do IT again. The Sleeping under the Stars in the Swag and the non reception days - a cut in the normal life. Beautiful. To Bush toilets and the dirt you get used and to be a little wet after the swims is in that temperatur not bad.
I really loved and enjoyed IT.

“Incredible!”
We're a married 31 year old couple and did the 9 day group trip from Broome to Darwin. We had an amazing time! The trip is full of adventure, challenges and natural beauty.
Having lived in Sydney for 4 years prior, we hadn't done anything too adventurous apart from long full day hikes, so saw this as a great chance to push ourselves.
The daily walks (we didn't find them difficult) and swims are truly breathtaking at times. It's like different little bits of paradise every day. Our favourite was Manning Gorge.
We were a little apprehensive about sleeping in swags out in the wild and possible animals, bugs, etc but it was great! No real problems. Sleeping under the stars and having a camp fire every night was amazing. The swags can get warm but they have a thin mattress in them and are comfy enough.
You'll get out of the trip what you put in. Expect to be pretty dirty and dusty at all times.
Bring a fly net! Although we only really found it a problem in the mornings. Bring bug spray for nighttimes.
Bring wet shoes for some of the swims. Luckily we bought a pair the day before in Broome.
Our group ranged from 18 year olds to us being the oldest at 31. I did think at first oh no we're a bit older, but it was fine and fun getting to know people from different parts of the world. We met some lovely people who made the trip so much fun.
We had Damo (Damien) as our guide who was great! The amount of effort and work he put in to make it all run smoothly and safely was unbelievable. The food he cooked every night was delicious - ranged from stir fry to a full on roast dinner on the fire to a Michelin starred risotto! He also had some great games for us to play around the fire each night. He also made sure we all met up when we arrived in Darwin for some food and drinks. I will say that the guides aren't super human, so do help out with things like setting up camp, helping prepare lunches, gather wood, etc. It's part of the fun!
All in all, one of the best trips we've ever done.

“Amazing trip!”
This tour has been one of the highlights of my Australia travels. Niall, our guide, was so passionate about his work & explained a lot about the Kimberlies. We hiked and swam every day in beautiful gorges and under waterfalls. We watched the sunrise at the Bungle Bungles and even spent one night on a lonely island at Lake Argyle, with nothing but water around us. I can definitely recommend this tour to everyone who's looking for a bit of an adventure.

The itinerary was full, each day we visited delightful swimming holes with fresh water tumbling off the rocks. Amazing scenery, ancient rock formations and brilliant skies. A privilege to visit.

“9 day Broome to Darwin”
I can sum it up in one word. Awesome. Alan our tour guide was superb with a sense of humour as dry as winter in the kimberley. I couldnot fault the trip and even the long off road journeys squashed in the van were broken up with frequent stops. The night on the island was the highlight for me. If you want to see off the beaten track Australia I would defo recommend this trip.
“Nothing. But. Awesome!”
I went on this tour with Sid and it was amazing!! Sid knew a lot about everything, he shared all his knowledge without being boring or bothering us, he's a great cook (we had selfmade bread, cangaroo, sweet potatoes - just for the food it was worth it)! Furthermore he's a cool guy, has great driving skills, conforms his plans with special desires.
We had a very lot of fun during the tour, it was a great experience. There's absolutely nothing to complain about. I really loved it!
