The headline price on an outback or island trip looks high next to a flight until you work out what is in it. On a three-day trip the price is usually your transport, your bed, nearly every meal and the park fees — which is most of what the days cost.

What is in the price

Transport throughout.The vehicle, the driver and the fuel, plus any ferry or boat the itinerary needs — the Bruny Island and Kangaroo Island ferries are both included, as are the Whitsunday and reef boats.
Accommodationon every trip with a night in it: a swag, a permanent tent, a hostel, a cabin or a motel depending on the trip. The trip pages say which.
Most meals.On the outback trips it is usually everything from day 1 lunch onwards, cooked by your guide at camp.
National park entry feeson most trips. Uluru-Kata Tjuta and Kakadu both charge at the gate and both are normally covered.
Your guidewho is also the driver, the cook and the reason the trip works.
Camping equipmentwhere you need it — swags, bedding and in most cases linen.

What you still pay for

Drinksbeyond the water, tea and coffee at camp. Most trips stop at a shop before heading out.
Optional activitiesa scenic flight over Uluru, an introductory dive on the reef, abseiling at Kalbarri. These are listed as optional on the trip page.
Meals in townat either end, and any meal the inclusions list doesn't cover.
Sleeping bag hireon some camping trips, which is usually a small charge and worth it in winter.
Travel insurancewhich is not included anywhere and which we would take.

The ones that are different

Day tripsinclude transport and park fees but rarely a meal — check the trip page.
Some short city-based trips do not include accommodation at all.They start and finish in town each day, so the nights are yours. The Tasmania two and three day trips and the Kangaroo Island plus Barossa trip work this way, and the tables on those pages say so.
The longest remote trips include everythingthe Kimberley runs cover all meals and nights because there is nowhere out there to buy anything.

Vegetarian, vegan and allergies

Catered for on every trip here, but the guide shops for the whole group before leaving, so it has to be known in advance. Tell us when you book rather than on the morning and we will put it on the operator's manifest.

Checking a specific trip

Every trip page lists its own inclusions, because they do vary. If anything is unclear, ask us and we will check it against the operator's sheet rather than guess.
