How long does it take to cross the Nullarbor?

Ten days, coast to coastPerth to Adelaide, with a night camped out on the plain itself.

Ten days between Perth and Adelaide, in either direction. The distance is about 2,700km, including the longest straight stretch of road in Australia at 146km. On our crossings the plain itself is night four, camped out under the stars on the Nullarbor, and the other days go on the coast either side: two nights at Lucky Bay, then Fitzgerald River and the Eyre Peninsula going east, or Margaret River going west. Everything is arranged, with a guide driving a 4WD mini bus, from $2,219 Perth to Adelaide or from $2,450 Adelaide to Perth.

Checked on 28 October 2026.

The Nullarbor is about 200,000 square kilometres of limestone between Western Australia and South Australia, and the name means no trees. Crossing it is the reason for the trip, and the coast at each end is the reward, so a guided crossing takes ten days and does not race straight over.
