Kings Canyon tours from Ayers Rock

Join at Ayers RockA three or four day trip, with a night near the canyon.

Join a three or four day Red Centre trip at Ayers Rock, and Kings Canyon is part of it. Kings Canyon is about 300km from Yulara, around three and a half hours' drive, so the trips spend a night near the canyon and do the rim walk: about 6km, three to four hours, along the top of 100 metre sandstone walls. The 3 Day Uluru Adventure collects you at Ayers Rock between 1pm and 2pm, from $759, and the 4 day version finishes back at Yulara with a free transfer to the airport, from $819. Trips with Kings Canyon start from $729.

Checked on 28 October 2026.

Kings Canyon sits between Uluru and Alice Springs, and you do not have to start in Alice Springs to see it. Several trips let you join at Ayers Rock in the afternoon, straight off your flight, so you see Uluru and Kata Tjuta first and Kings Canyon after. It is the best way to see all three.

The rim walk

  • About 6km, three to four hours. This is what the trips come for.
  • It starts with around 500 stepsand after that it is level along the top of the canyon.
  • The Garden of Edenis a permanent waterhole in the middle, surrounded by cycads.
  • There is a shorter creek walkof about 2km along the bottom, for anyone giving the climb a miss.
  • The trips start it at first lightthe best light of the day and the coolest; the walk closes when the forecast is 36°C or above.

Why not a day trip?

At about 300km each way, a day trip would be seven hours in the car for a three to four hour walk. Every trip we sell to Kings Canyon spends a night near it instead, which is what gets you on the rim at first light. Our Kings Canyon page has more on why it is many people's favourite day in the Red Centre.
