Situated on the traditional lands of the Yawuru people, Broome is a pearling and tourist town in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, 2200 km north of Perth. Its remoteness and aboriginal culture make it a sought after destination for many travellers.

Named after the Governor of Western Australia in 1883, Broome was first visited by Europeans in 1688 and again in 1699. The first being William Dampier who named many of the coastal locations that still exist today. However, it was not until the 1800's that Broome was selected a pearling town and thus kick started its famous heritage in the maritime industry.  

Like the rest of the surrounding regions, Broome enjoys a tropical climate comprising of two different seasons; the Wet and Dry. The town is famous for its intense heats which seem to dramatise the regions landscapes and natural elements.
