When is the best time to visit Freycinet?

Dec to MarchAnd the coast stays mild enough to go in any month.

December to March for the warmest days, and there is no bad month. At Bicheno, on the edge of the park, January and February average 22°C by day. The surprise is the rain: every month of the year gets between 44mm and 67mm, so Freycinet has no wet season to dodge. Winter is mild for Tasmania, 14°C by day in July against 12°C in Hobart, and it is the quietest time to have Wineglass Bay to yourself. A day trip from Hobart is from $159.

Checked on 28 October 2026.

Freycinet sits on Tasmania's east coast, and its weather is the gentlest on the island. The days swing from about 14°C in winter to 22°C in summer, and the rain barely changes from one month to the next. So the question is less when it is good and more what kind of visit you want.
