A friend and I did the self-drive stargazing tour at the Pinnacles and it was a highlight of our WA trip. The Lumineer guides were both great guys, super friendly and knowledgeable, and had no problem catering for our diets (one gluten-free, one vegan) — the dinner was tasty and filling. An A+ experience; we'd certainly book with Lumineer again.
Highly recommend these guys — they really know what they're doing! We (two adults, a teenager and a child) went on the Pinnacles and stargazing tour and it was magnificent from start to finish: a comfortable bus, fun sandboarding, awe-inspiring nature, a yummy dinner and a guide with a wealth of knowledge on so many topics. Our tour guide Peter was friendly, helpful and entertaining — I wish I could have him for all my future tours. The barbecue was good and they even had warm blankets for the drive back. Bear in mind this kind of tour is weather-dependent: it's much better in summer, when warm days give way to cool, clear nights with a picturesque sunset and plenty of stars.

We did the Pinnacles Self-Drive Tour with Sunset Dinner and Stargazing, and it was amazing from start to finish. A special shout-out to our guides Peter and Aaron, whose knowledge of the region, wildlife, history and night sky added real depth — kind, genuine and full of humour and hospitality. Our family of 14 thoroughly enjoyed the Lancelin/Pinnacles tour — we secured a private minibus and a halal dinner, and intermittent showers didn't dampen our spirits for sandboarding, exploring and observing beautiful stars and planets. “Great Experience, Great Value! Do it!”
This was a brilliant way to spend the day - pickup in the CBD was easy, and the driver made the trip to Pinnacles Desert interesting. Of course there were stops for some sights, and of course the sand dune surfing was brilliant! We were on a small bus, which was adequate for the time/distance of travel.
The Pinnacles themselves are really quite a unique experience - the tour allows plenty of time to explore, and then as the sun sets (amazing photo opportunities) you return to the bus where a bbq feast has been laid out with dozens of salads, various meats and vegetarian options, a generous number of drinks, and even a lovely dessert.
While you eat this the tour guide gives a bit of a talk as the sky darkens, and then you get an astronomy tour with binoculars to use and a big reflector telescope for highlights visible on the evening.
Pro-tip - if you have your own binoculars, bring them - some of the ones they provide have seen better days!
The trip back in the dark seemed much quicker than the way there - I might have dozed off lol, but of course there were no stops on the way back either.
Well worth it!
“Great family day trip to see the Pinnacles”
Myself, my mom and my 2 kids (9 and 11) all really enjoyed this trip. Despite a super cloudy day which meant no stargazing we made the best of it (and obviously this is no fault of the tour). Seeing the pinnacles was great and we had plenty of free time to roam around at our leisure before returning to the bbq dinner they had set up. My kids also really enjoyed the sand boarding and our guide, David, was great with encouraging them to try it when they were hesitant at first.

An amazing experience on the Pinnacles stargazing tour. We went in early February and were awestruck by the stars we could see with Lumineer's guidance and equipment, and the staff did an impressive job explaining the night sky and enhancing the already-spellbinding Pinnacles. What an incredible experience! We booked the self-drive Pinnacles stargazing option and met Peter and the group at Nambung National Park to watch the sunset before an absolutely delicious BBQ. Peter trained the telescope on some brilliant sights in the night sky and was really friendly and informative. I'd definitely do this tour again.

First time in Perth for work, flying solo and this trip was exceptional! Hadrien was a fantastic driver, sand board coach, BBQ chef, astrologer, geologist and local knowledge guide. Adeptly nick-named Mary Poppins - he whipped out everything from a giant telescope, to cosy blankets whilst also providing iphone night photography lessons!

This was the best adventure ever. The instructions were so clear right from the start and made the whole process from pickup to drop off smooth and hassle free. Amazing experience with Lumineer Adventure Tours. The Pinnacles desert is an incredible sight, and the Lumineers staff made it even better by explaining how the pinnacles were created. The equipment and background info provided by the Lumineers team enabled us to see a gorgeous night sky and understand and appreciate what we were seeing. BE SURE TO BRING A WARM JACKET even at the height of summer as nights are cool. We did the self-driving option, and if you do that bear in mind you will also need to pay a fee to enter and park in the national park. Absolutely worth every penny.

Didn't disappoint — on-time hotel pick-up, then a drive with stops including sandboarding at Lancelin (easier than it sounds). There's plenty of time to stroll around the Pinnacles, take too many photos and watch a stunning sunset. The highlight was the stars: the whole night sky so clear, with planets and the Milky Way. Helpful, knowledgeable staff and a good BBQ to finish. Bring a light top for when the sun goes down. Well worth it.

An amazing day with Lumineer Tours — friendly welcome and pick-up, then sandboarding on the dunes at Lancelin, and plenty of time to stroll the Pinnacles before a fantastic sunset. A great BBQ, then stargazing — and unlike other tours that hand out binoculars, Lumineer set up a telescope and zoomed in on planets and constellations. Our host Leighton was great, and Gavin's astronomy knowledge is brilliant; we even spotted 12 satellites. A truly memorable day.
“Epic Pinnacles”
An incredible trip to the Pinnacles in early February. The stops en route were short and sweet, apart from the sandboarding, which was so much fun. At the desert we explored the mystical standing stones before a beautiful sunset, then enjoyed a great, plentiful BBQ with wine before the stars were explained to us. We were lucky with a clear night — I saw Mercury, Venus and a nebula — and after a couple of hours the moon gave us a beautiful moonrise.

Accurate pick-up, and the main event was stargazing at the Pinnacles. Having seen them by day last year, I wanted the full starry sky this time. Clouds rolled in and at first only a few stars were visible — then a sudden break revealed a sky full of them. Impressive and inspiring, with that strange feeling of being tiny in the wilderness, and the food was delicious too. Note it's windy and cold at the Pinnacles at night even in midsummer — I brought a light down jacket and was lent a blanket.

We enjoyed the stops on the way to the Pinnacles and the music en route, especially the sandboarding stop. The Pinnacles desert has more formations than I expected, beautiful in the late-afternoon light, the dinner was good, and being far from the city you see the stars really well. One of the best tours I've been on — very well planned, with a great balance of driving and stops, and plenty of chances to refill water and use the toilet. The sand dunes are a blast, and our guides reassured us about sandboarding (it looks scary but it's a lot of fun). Gavin is a terrific guide and driver — kind, personable and very knowledgeable about the history, geography and geology, and respectful of Indigenous knowledge — and Sam is a lot of fun. After an hour to wander the Pinnacles, we were welcomed with a beautiful spread of appetisers, salads, BBQ and drinks, then stargazing guided by Gavin with binoculars and a telescope. With no light pollution we spotted lots of shooting stars, and were back in Perth right on time. Extra points to Gavin for the bus playlist!

A fun tour with some unique experiences. The Pinnacles are beautiful, and this is the best time of day to see them — fewer people and more wildlife (kangaroos, emus, goats, birds) in the cooler evening. The guides were very knowledgeable about the area and the stars; if the stars matter to you, pick a tour near a new moon. The sandboarding stop was fun and approachable even for children. The bus legroom is limited, but otherwise great.

“It's a trip I think was well worth the price, and I highly recom”
I was exceptionally happy with Hadrien (our tour guide). He was a lovely individual who had a lot of great stories and played the part of tour guide well. As for the tour, the sandboarding was fun (you can stand, sit, or just watch). You get stops along the way for toilets, for tea and snacks, and at picturesque views of the ocean or the bush. Lastly, the Pinnacles are fun scenery with interesting history. You are treated to a meal around sunset, where there's hot chocolate, wine, sausages, potatoes, and various kinds of veggies (at least when I went). Hadrien has blankets for those cold, but be prepared for the desert to get a little windy. He also brings a telescope (we got to see the rings of Saturn!) and binoculars. Lastly, the low light pollution is perfect for star gazing. Such beautiful sights as the universe opens up.

Fantastic trip. Even though the bus was a bit unloved and the microphone didn’t work, we had a great time. Leighton, our driver/guide looked after us a treat. Safe driving, friendly, helpful and professional. The bbq dinner was terrific and our sunset watching and star gazing, just brilliant. I don't normally do google reviews but I needed to do one for this tour because of how spectacular the tour, and especially our tour guide Don was! Everything was well scheduled, from pick up to drop off, and you can be rest assured you're in good hands. Don is so friendly and inclusive towards every single person of the tour, constantly checking on the wellbeing of everyone. This is so appreciated and contributes to making the environment such a great one as we come to mingle with one another. I was initially afraid the journey to the dunes/desert was going to be long. However, Don had such knowledgable and fun commentaries, paired with a wonderful music playlist throughout the ride, and before I knew it, we had reached our destination(s). To top it off, the sandboarding and stargazing are activities I will certainly remember for a long time to come. It was an absolutely beautiful journey, and the tour is certainly recommended to anyone with an adventurous soul (-:

We had such a memorable and great time yesterday at the sand dunes and Pinnacle! Our guide Don along with his colleague in the second bus, Emma, were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and kind throughout the entire journey. Great day trip. Picked up at our hotel st about midday and we were dropped back at 9-45pm. Incredible clear skies provided us with probably a 9 out of 10 Stargazing experience. Our guide Adrian, was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout the day. He helped everyone with his extensive photographic experience to take an iconic Pinnacles /. Star photograph and his patient efforts to help we novices with our various Smart phones must be commended. Given it had been raining all week and we had beautiful skies - we were blessed. The dune sliding and lovely BBQ dinner really paled behind the incredible night sky and the star gazing opportunity we were provided. We had a great time.

The stops along the way gave us a good stretch of legs and photo opportunities. The picnic dinner was really lovely. Plus a glass of bubbly.

A very enjoyable tour. You visit some beautiful viewpoints along the coast and see stunning landscapes throughout the tour. As well as this you can try sandboarding which is great fun. Our guide Dom was fantastic and shared heaps of interesting facts and information about Western Australian. He added a good amount of humour and jokes too which added much to the experience. The Pinnacles were breathtaking and it was great to take in the views and also the stars and moon, although we did have some clouds during our visit (it happens). Finally the food was really good with some healthy salad and veggie options plus good wine, tea and coffee too. Overall

Everything was 10/10 - from collecting me from hotel to a walk in the Pinnacles, excellent bbq tea and salad and viewing the moon through the telescope! Guides were knowledgeable and pointed out the various constellations and planets. We also were shown what setting to put our phones on to take some amazing night photos! A great tour and a great, knowledgeable guide. Even though the weather threatened to be against us we still got to see what we came to see and learned a thing or two about star photography with our phones.

This tour had lots of fun activities wrapped into one tour.
The first activity involved sand boarding down sand dunes. Our guides provided boards and helped seat us and sent us flying down the dune. Great fun!
The second activity had us wandering among the pinnacles in the desert. The pinnacles are amazing. The sunset was gorgeous!
After dinner we looked at the stars. With no ambient light so many starts are visible. Our guides brought out telescopes and binoculars for our use. They were knowledgeable and pointed out many constellations. We even saw satellites!
This tour was so unexpected and I would recommend this to anyone who wanted to experience something out of the ordinary

“Wow”
This is a MUST DO tour to explore the raw beauty of WA’s natural environment just north of Perth. Lumineer Adventure Tours provided exceptional customer service from enquiry stage right through to drop off after tour. Emma (our Guide) was exceptional - her unlimited knowledge, genuine kindness to all guests & incredible love of nature gave us an adventure we will never forget! Sand boarding, whale watching with true breathtaking experiences of the Pinnacles & surrounding desert from sunset to stargazing night skies left us buzzing. The delish evening BBQ was perfect after a big afternoon of fun (so many different salads to choose from). Great resources for all to use was so cool (telescope, binoculars, sand boards, blankets). Extra bonus of Emma teaching us simple phone photography tricks to capture the stars & Milky Way. I wishes I lived in WA PS would strongly recommend taking plenty of media storage as is photography utopia.

We had a fantastic afternoon with Don. His patience more than I would have in this tour role. Don was super knowledgeable about the areas & good fun to banter with.
We were picked up from our hotel & eventually picked up everyone (including those that we had to return for bc they couldnt be outside waiting on time like everyone else...) then finally off on to an adventure.
It did rain hard but brief when we arrived to sandboard but what a great area!! Everyone still had the opportunity to sandboard down & were allowed to go again if they wanted to fight the rain... We wenrlt up to the lookout & it was beautiful looking out over the water.
Pinnacles were spectacular. A shame cloud cover ruined our planet viewing from the telescope but the clouds cleared to see the milky way plus a few other constellations I never knew about.

I took the Pinnacles Desert Stargazing Tour with them. It was great. I loved every moment. Leighton was our tour guide. First we went sandboarding, he help with tips and tricks on how to get down the best way. We then went to a beautiful beach for a quick walk and to the Nilgen Lookout. On the way Leighton explained about some animals living there and about the vegetation and bush fires, etc. Then we arrived at Pinnacles Desert and had an hour or so to wander on our own, take pictures, watch the sunset. It was amazing. When we came back to the vans, dinner was ready. First we got some appetizers, then sausages with salads. The salads were fantastic! I‘m not a big fan of sausages in general, but I enjoyed the ones they had, but for me the salads were the star of the dinner. While we were eating, Leighton set up a telescope and had us look at the moon and saturn. He gave tips on how to get the best night sky pictures. Then we headed back to Perth. Thank you so much! It was a great tour and Leighton was a great guide! Highly recommend!

We had a great time. Sam picked us up at our hotel snd did an excellent tour with Emma helping in identifying stars. We had enough stops to be comfortable and the Pinnacles were bizarre and wonderful to see. Dinner suited the day and we watched a beautiful sunset. Would recommend.
A great Stargazing Pinnacles tour. Our bus even had a puncture, so we had some time by the roadside, which actually added to the fun. Lunch was great, and our driver-guide was entertaining, with great insight into the areas we passed. The Pinnacles were fantastic, and dinner under the stars was amazing, with plenty of equipment to view the sky and a guide who knew his nebulae, stars and even a passing satellite. A brilliant day out and good value — totally recommend.

This trip was amazing. It's quite a drive to get to the Pinnacles desert from Perth CBD, but is definitely worth it. We made a few stops along the way, which broke the journey up a little, and also showed us some amazing areas of WA.
The actual desert was definitely the highlight and such an interesting place. We had a BBQ dinner in the middle of the desert, and then had the amazing experience of the star gazing. The guides were knowledgeable and informative, and obviously loved what they do.
We were picked up at midday in Perth CBD, and dropped back at our hotel around 10.30pm, so a big day - definitely worth it though. I would highly recommend this day trip to visitors to Perth.

This tour was simply amazing — we'd done other tours around Australia, but this was by far the best organised, thanks to our guide Hadrian, who was guide, driver, cook, astronomer and photographer all in one. After a 2 hour journey including an interesting stop at a National Park we arrived in Cervantes for a very good meal before making our way to the Pinnacles. Our driver and guide were excellent and knowledgable. The Pinnacles were just magnificent and being there in the evening meant it wasn’t crowded. We watched the sun set and then headed over to a beach - a dark sky zone and watching the stars, planets and constellations was out of this world!! Our guide was an astronomer and provided fantastic info and stats - just magical!
We spent a long time looking upwards before the two hour journey back to Perth. Would highly recommend this tour if you are in Perth for several days.

My friend and I had an incredible time on this tour. The pick-up and drop-off was very conveniently done from our hotel. There were plenty of rest stops along the way and the tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Sandboarding at Lancelin sand dunes was a fun activity along the way. The dinner spread under the stars was thoroughly enjoyable and the tour company was very kind to cater to dietary requirements. Sunset at the Pinnacles were a beautiful sight, only topped by the incredible night sky view at the desert!

This trip was a really enjoyable day out! It was well organised, the tour guides were super friendly and knowledgeable on different stars and planets which we were looking at! I want to give a special shout out to our incredible guides. There were two vehicles and one experienced a flat about an hour in to our drive. After a rather lengthy repair stop, we found out that a nearby fire had resulted in the closing of a highway, which meant that we had to take a long detour (both directions). I don’t know how they did it, but our guides still made the trip happen. They were by far the most efficient and hard working guides I’ve ever seen. Both were working full out at each stop to provide everything on the itinerary. Beyond impressive. It ended up being a very long and exhausting day (can’t imagine how tired the guides were!), but the pinnacles and stargazing made it all worthwhile. Truly an incredible, awe inspiring experience. Definitely recommend!!

We did the self-drive option, and despite a mix-up (our fault) about which group we were with, Lumineer sorted it out quickly with our safety front of mind. What a great experience. We didn't do the bus tour from Perth as we were staying in Cervantes so we met the group at the Pinnacles. Due to the cyclone up north, the park ranges wouldn't let the bus enter the park so we had to walk. We've never done it by bus so we can't compare but we LOVED that we walked in instead. We got to get up and close to the Pinnacles. The staff were all fantastic and we loved the stargazing and the knowledge they had about stars and planets. It was a fantastic place to see the sunset. This was a very nice trip to be part of. It starts midday and gets you back late, so plan accordingly. The coastal stop had a beautiful view. The sandboarding was very fun and pretty much anyone can do it. They use wax on the bottom of the board before each turn so it easily glides down the dune. Fun for all ages! The Pinnacles is an interesting place and the story of how it came to be makes it more so. There was a good amount of time to wander and explore and take photos while dinner was being prepared. Dinner was very nice! One of the two guides was very knowledgeable about the heavens and had a great telescope for viewing many celestial bodies. Most people were asleep on the way back to Perth after a long, rewarding day.

I loved every moment of this last August. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience, meticulously planned and executed, and just a seriously enjoyable adventure. Everyone was very kind, from booking the reservation from America late one evening, to making sure my pickup location was correct. I was so impressed by everyone.
Sam picked me up at my hotel and we drove out to Lanclin to the sand dunes, then Hangover Bay, followed by a most epic visit to the Pinacles. Sam, Skip, and Gavin went the extra mile in every way. Attentiveness, kindness, and comradery. It was just the little things, like hot cocoa in the evening, an overabundance of food, the swiftness which the guys set everything up. I look back over the photos of that adventure and want to go back so much.

A wonderful experience with Emma, Don and Hadrien. Emma was a super driver and guide, in a comfortable small-group setting; we sandboarded the Lancelin dunes and visited two ocean lookouts with great photo ops. The highlight was the sunset at the Pinnacles, a delicious meal with a wide selection of salads and sausages, and the stargazing, where the team set up telescopes and gave expert commentary on the stars, planets and constellations — we spotted two galaxies plus the Milky Way. Despite Perth being almost clouded in, we had the most wonderful evening under the stars. Skip, our driver, collected us right on time & we soon had everyone on board, a mixed collection of all ages & from a variety of countries around the world.
It's approximately 90 minutes to the first stop in a lovely little town called Lancelin where we stopped for a toilet break & some afternoon tea. The cafe had plenty of home made, delectable delights to choose from. There is also a bakery that is obviously a hit with the locals & an ice cream shop.
After a short stop we headed off to go sandboarding down the giant, pristine, whitest sand dunes you'll ever see. By all accounts everyone seemed to have a great time with lots of laughter & screams of delight.

Great tour - so well organised. I was worried beforehand re the heat as the temperature was forecasted for 41 degrees and we were heading out to the desert.
The tour guys on the two buses worked so well together to make us a brilliant dinner. The clouds parted at night time and we could see so many stars. Never realised how many satellites were up there. The pinnacle rocks are spectacular.

Had an absolutely amazing Tour with Lumieer from start to finish
They collected us in Perth city where we were introduced to out Driver Don and our Mercedes Benz bus "Nova"
After collecting our tour mates for other locations we set off on our drive up north .
During the drive Don told us facts about the area in which we were travelling, including local flora and fauna and the history behind the area.
We stopped at a local bakey/ ice cream shop to stretch out legs before heading the the Lancelin Sand Dunes!
There we went sand surfing. All equipment provided. We then proceeded on to the Pinnacle Desert for an exploration around sunset followed by star gazing.
Dinner was provided an awesome BBQ with salads made by the Owner Claire with wines, hot beverages and soft drinks.
The team, Don, Gavin and Emma told us stories about the indigenous history as well as stories about the sky and constellations. Telescopes and binoculars were provided to see the stars close up as well as blankets to keep us warm

The sandboarding was incredibly fun and the stargazing was super cool — we got to see the planets up close! The guides were astronomically great: super funny and very knowledgeable, and they cooked a great dinner too.
I've been on many tours, and Lumineer's Pinnacles stargazing tour easily makes my top three. Everything was very well organised, and our guide Don was extremely knowledgeable and went the extra mile to make it memorable, with the itinerary covering more places than expected and the sunset and stargazing in the Pinnacles the highlight. I was hesitant about an organised tour and chose this small-group one. The scenery grew more beautiful as we drove, and Sam told stories animatedly and went out of his way for a great experience — I could never have seen so much on my own. Sandboarding was an experience in itself, and the Pinnacles were the dessert. I couldn't get enough of the stargazing, with clear astronomical explanations, and the three drivers had a BBQ ready in no time. I enjoyed it from start to finish and was safely brought back to my hotel. My first Australia and desert experience — a memory for life!

“Amazing and well organized experience”
The whole tour was so well organised, which shows real professionalism. Pick-up was smooth, and our driver Sam was knowledgeable and funny and genuinely wanted us to have a good experience. The sandboarding was so much fun. When the wind picked up they switched to a lookout, then at the Pinnacles the team set up Aussie wine, snacks and a wonderful buffet-style BBQ. As it got chilly they handed out blankets and set up two telescopes, explaining what we were seeing and being patient with everyone. An energetic, knowledgeable team — highly recommend!

An absolutely brilliant tour guide in Don, who made the whole thing magical even though clouds meant we couldn't see the stars. My one note: I was at the back of a full vehicle and struggled to see out of my window, which had the firm's logo on it — a shame, as everything was so beautiful.

From the start our guide Emma was amazing, as were all the guides — full of information on the local area, people and history. It's a long trek to the Pinnacles, broken up by frequent stops to see the sights, and the sandboarding was a fun interlude. We had a lot of cloud cover on arrival but still saw some stars, and the area is well worth a visit. The food was amazing given it was prepared in the desert, with plenty to go around. The guides made this the great experience it was — definitely recommend.

Had an amazing tour of the Pinnacles Desert with our driver Emma (and the other drivers Hadrion and Don). This was such a well thought out day by the tour company and a great way to fit a lot in of this spectacular region.
The sandboarding was pure exhilaration and the boards themselves were in great condition. Definitely a highlight.
Then the sunset and stargazing was pretty special. You could tell that all the guides were passionate about astronomy, and the sky was ideal for seeing the stars and nebulas. The provided binoculars meant you could see the rings of Saturn if you squinted!
The food spread was also way better than expected.

I can definitely confirm the positive reviews. We booked the Pinnacles Star Gazing tour which was an amazing experience that you should not miss when in Perth. Sam was our tour guide that day, he is a great guy and an excellent driver. But on top of everything that made the tour unforgettable - the service was outstanding. When we were on the bus back, my friend recognized she had lost her bracelet at the Pinnacles while sitting on one of the blankets they had provided for us to lay on the sand and watch the stars. I told Sam when he dropped us at the hotel, and the next evening, we got a call from Claire, the director of Lumineer that Sam had found the bracelet (which means he has looked for it). He even brought it back to our hotel, and we cannot thank both, Sam and Claire, enough for helping us like this. Highly recommend!

Thank you for the amazing experience! We had a quite cloudy day and we only got a little glimpse of sun during at the sand dune and a little during sunset at the pinnacles that made everything special! We had a yummy dinner at the Pinnacles and our guides were very nice and friendly.
We unfortunately were very unlucky with the weather but our guide Adrian really tried to find different spots for stargazing on the way back to Perth and even if he could not find any as it was clearly raining we really appreciated the effort. To make the night special anyways he stopped on top of Kings Park to let us enjoy the views of Perth at nights as a consolation which we really appreciated!
Seeing the stars would have been cherry on top of the day but it is okay, they can’t control the weather and made it special anyways! I am sure on a clear day the experience is amazing!

Sam was fantastic, picking us up and dropping us back on time. The whole experience was amazing — sliding down the sand, the jaw-dropping Pinnacles desert, stargazing, and seeing the rings of Saturn through the telescope (wow!). Then a delicious dinner with a cheese board, drinks and salads, with a vegetarian option kindly made for my mum. The highlight for me was Sam's bus playlist — entertaining, informative and inclusive of the children. Highly recommend!

The tour, led by Don and his team, was phenomenal in every detail. Don handpicked the songs and made sure everyone was well looked after, giving my children clear, easy sandboarding instructions and great photos. “A good day out”
A very good way to spend a day out of Perth without the hassle of a rental car. The Pinnacles tour is professionally run by experienced, funny driver-guides, and includes sandboarding at Lancelin and a beach walk. The sausage sizzle and a glass of wine among the Pinnacles at sunset was charming, even without much of a sunset this time. Great people and a good day out.
Super well organised, with beautiful beaches, fun sandboarding, and the Pinnacles desert incredible both before and after sunset. The BBQ had a big variety of amazing salads, and the stars were so beautiful — we even saw two other galaxies, and the Atlas comet showed up in the photos. A great experience!
We recently took a tour with Lumineer Adventure Tours in Perth, and it was an unforgettable experience — stunning beaches followed by an incredible evening of stargazing in the Pinnacles desert. The absolute highlight was our guide Hadriel, who went above and beyond: a skilled, safe driver, and incredibly helpful, friendly and fun, he even taught us how to take amazing photos of the Milky Way, an unexpected bonus. We did a self-drive version of the Pinnacles stargazing tour, meeting the buses and guides on-site from Jurien Bay, which was no hassle — the guides were welcoming and flexible. The Pinnacles were amazing, especially at sunset, and we all loved the stargazing. It was enjoyable for the whole family (two adults and two teens), and my daughter's food allergies were very well catered for. The guides are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We'd definitely recommend this tour for travellers of all ages.

It includes a decent amount of time to explore and ride the sand dunes at Lancelin before the main event. Seeing the limestone formations at sunset was truly unique, topped off by the native wildlife, and the dinner was great with real effort to cater to dietary requirements. We got lucky with a clear night to see the stars and a comet, and the team's light-hearted, friendly commentary made it memorable. Highly recommend!

A five-star day trip outside Perth. Our driver and guide Emma was fantastic, along with Hadrian (thanks for the phone-photography lesson) and Don (great astronomy narration at the Pinnacles). The Pinnacles, the stargazing and the Australian BBQ dinner under the stars are the highlights. Sandboarding the dunes was fun, though not for you if you dislike wind and flying sand. It's a long day, but well worth it.

A really amazing, unforgettable experience. The Pinnacles are so numerous, large and magnificent, beyond my imagination, and I was intoxicated by the changing light as the sun set. Once dark, the sky was full of glittering stars I hadn't seen in ages, and I even glimpsed two kangaroos running among the Pinnacles. We had snacks with wine and soft drinks, then dinner, and one of the drivers was humorous and knowledgeable about astronomy, letting everyone observe through the telescope and taking photos with the stars behind us. We spent nearly three hours in the desert — a once-in-a-lifetime experience I'll never forget.

Such a fun time — real characters running the tour and driving the buses. Not too crowded, with a few stops along the way, so a great choice. The views were amazing, we took great sunset shots, the stars were so clear, and the resident amateur astronomer was very helpful!

We took the trip with Skip in late September and it was the most fun experience of our Perth trip. Skip picked us up at our hotel, and we headed to Lancelin, where the fine white sand dunes were a blast (and amazingly the sand didn't stick to our clothes). After a beach walk we reached the Pinnacles, wandered the park, waited for sunset, had a picnic dinner and looked at the night sky, with Skip and Gavin giving us stargazing basics and telescopes. We were blessed with clear skies despite the cold, and they had rugs for anyone underdressed. I love that Lumineer uses small vans, which reach places large buses can't. Terrific value and a day very well spent — thanks Skip and Gavin!

Well, that was an experience we both enjoyed, with some strange sights all around. The main guide was a hoot and very knowledgeable about the stars, and the dunes were amazing. The BBQ was very tasty (the flies are a pain when it's hot) and the guys were very good. My tip: go on a moonless night for the best stargazing.

Our tour director was very friendly and knowledgeable, and we saw a lot outside Perth on a fun evening. The stars weren't at their brightest, but we still saw the Milky Way and even a kangaroo running across.
I couldn't have been more impressed with the Pinnacles Stargazing Tour. From my first interaction about a prior injury and a request to be picked up first, they were professional and courteous. On the day I sat next to our driver Skip, who was a delight throughout — knowledgeable, with a great sense of humour, making everyone feel welcome. The tour was fantastic, taking us to several locations and helping me achieve a life goal of seeing the Milky Way in person. If Google had a sixth star, I'd give it.

An experience of a lifetime — we surfed the sand dunes, saw amazing coastlines, were enthralled by the mystical Pinnacles and dazzled by the Milky Way and Southern Cross. Even though rain and an early park closure changed some plans, it was an enchanting experience — and when I left my sentimental cap on the bus, Claire, the company's owner, personally came to my accommodation to return it. Exceptional from my first interaction with Lumineer. Because of a back injury I need space to shift about, and they were very accommodating, letting me board first so I could chat to the driver — who was very funny, articulate and knew his stuff. The sandboarding was fun, the golden sunset at the Pinnacles beautiful, and seeing the Milky Way was a dream come true (it shows up even better on camera). I'd definitely do this trip again and highly recommend it. Tip for iPhone users: set the exposure to the maximum 10 seconds for night photos.

The affable Sam picked me up, and we set off for Lancelin for a snack and the amazing sand dunes — sliding down on a board was spectacular — then a short ride to Hangover Bay. Then came the greatest adventure: the Pinnacles. Gavin, Sam and Skip were incredibly kind, outgoing and professional. Sadly the clouds hid much beyond the moon, but the barbecue was outstanding. We picked the right operator for a day trip to the Pinnacles desert — thanks to Gavin and Skip. Special mention to Skip, a funny, knowledgeable guy who shared everything he knew about each stop. Lumineer isn't a big company, which means personalised service: when my wife, who doesn't eat beef, ran out of food, Skip and Gavin found a way to cook chicken for her — remarkable. We also dined inside the Pinnacles desert, which the big companies can't do — a lifetime experience — and finished with stargazing, learning to identify patterns in the sky and leaving with a beautiful photo each, moonrise behind us. Attended the Pinnacles tour this evening with Gavin, and my partner and I loved it! Gavin was polite, friendly and knowledgeable, and went out of his way to interact with every attendee. The Pinnacles Sunset Dinner Stargazing Tour is a bucket-list activity. We did it in July 2024 with cloud patches during the day but a clear, moonless night — perfect conditions for stargazing. A good itinerary: the sandboarding was so much fun on soft white sand (some fitness needed to climb back up), and Hangover Bay is beautiful. The absolute highlight was the sunset and stargazing — we saw the Scorpius constellation, a few shooting stars and satellites, and even faint patches visible to the naked eye.
We booked the stargazing Pinnacles tour with Lumineer, and our guides Gavin and Skip were second to none. Their professionalism was outstanding and they made the tour so entertaining — I'd highly recommend Lumineer Adventure Tours. We'll definitely do this tour again when in Perth. Thank you so much. “Terrific day out in the Pinnacles”
After an inner-city pickup by our excellent, knowledgeable guide Skip, we drove out to the moon-like dunes at Lancelin, where many slid down on boards, then paddled in the warm Indian Ocean at Hangover Ledge before reaching the Pinnacles — a landscape like no other. Nothing prepares you for the beauty. Skip found the best spot for sunset as the BBQ and drinks were set out, and the telescope revealed wonderful views of the moon's craters, the Southern Cross, the Milky Way and the Magellanic Cloud. Skip answered every question and returned us safely home. A memorable day with hundreds of photos — well done Skip and Lumineer Tours.
I'd wanted to do this for over a year and booked it for my birthday, and it exceeded expectations. When I called with a couple of questions beforehand, Claire in the office rang me back — so lovely, helpful and informative — and even arranged little cupcakes for my birthday. We were picked up promptly from the hotel and kept informed by our driver Gavin about the restroom and snack stops. They went above and beyond to make it so special.

The destination is far and it's a long trip, but for me it was worth it — my first time in a desert. The stargazing was great; living in a city, I hadn't seen so many stars in years. We weren't sure what to expect, but it was immediately clear we were in good hands with Erin and Summer, who engaged the whole group from the moment we boarded. Erin was a wealth of knowledge, sharing interesting anecdotes on the way to the Pinnacles — an amazing geological phenomenon still steeped in mystery. After a delightful picnic meal, the darkening sky took our attention, and Erin took us on a journey through dreaming stories and celestial highlights. The whole evening was awe-inspiring, and Summer drove us home with quiet competence and skill. We couldn't have hoped for better guides.

The views were amazing, and I loved sandboarding — my first time, and so much fun. Gavin was an excellent guide, very respectful and knowledgeable, the stargazing was dreamy, and the Aboriginal stories in the Pinnacles desert were insightful. I'd certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Perth.

Communication before the tour was great, with email, SMS and calls to confirm. Our guide-driver Skip was very funny and made the event very enjoyable, and I loved the itinerary — sandboarding, a short native bush-food tour and lookout, and finally the Pinnacles and dinner. Dinner was simple but tasty and included wine. Even though we didn't see stars that night, we thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

We couldn’t resist the idea of stargazing in the desert - no light pollution! - and we loved the whole experience. Gavin is a super knowledgeable and friendly celestial guide, and the two telescopes and sets of Astro binos give ample opportunity to see some amazing night sky views. Also fun was the sand dune board riding on the way to the Pinnacles, and the relaxed BBQ sausage sizzle at sunset hit the spot, with lots of tasty and healthy salad options. The itinerary of this tour alone makes it a worthwhile trip; every activity was fun and memorable. Loved sand surfing and learning about the stars at pinnacle dessert. On top of that, the tour was very well-organized and sustainably run. With two groups combined, we had maybe over 30 people in the group, yet the tour guides brought reusable utensils for everyone and offered many vegetarian options which I found impressive. Really enjoyed the experience and it’s worth every cent!

A fabulous adventure. Neal and Gavin are registered astronomers with two large telescopes, and after the BBQ dinner we saw the most beautiful stargazing across the Milky Way — you must also try their binoculars, which reveal countless stars around the major planets. The weather was perfect with a crystal-clear sky. The Pinnacles themselves are a startling landscape, and on the way we stopped at the sand dunes for sandboarding, with plenty of history lessons making the trip especially memorable. Bring warm clothes for after dark. A real delight, and a great chance to meet people from all over.

This tour was amazing. From start to finish a wonder of different landscapes, scenery and sky views. Our tour guide Gavin was great. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Shares lots of stories of the areas we are driving through. The Pinnacles are a wonder that seem to appear from no where. It was a very windy day but Gavin and Jack managed to set up a nice wind break and serve up a delicious dinner. The best part for us was the night sky views. Great way to kill a day. Skip was a great guide and kept things light hearted and fun. We went on the night of the Geminid meteor shower but ran out of time since the shower really picks up at 2 AM but the park closes at 9 PM. However Skip was cool with stopping on the way back so we could get another chance at catching a few meteors (and we did!) Amazing day, highly recommend it you'll be absolutely spent by the end.

“Highlight of our time in Perth”
We've been travelling across Australia for a month, but only in Perth did we feel somewhere really different. Easy pickup at Perth CBD hotels, with stops for bathrooms and sandboarding. Gavin had interesting tidbits about local history, flora and fauna, but the astronomy was where he really shone — being out in the desert looking at the planets and stars is about as close to a mystical experience as you'll get. Dinner was tasty with good options for non-meat-eaters. A tip: flies are annoying during the day, so bug spray and a head net help, and be aware it's a long day, landing you back in Perth around midnight. Would not have missed it for anything!

Yesterday, I attended the Pinnacles Sunset Stargazing Tour and had the best time. I have limited mobility but can walk a little. When we got to the sand dunes I assumed I would have to just wait in the bus BUT with the help of our tour guide, Gavin, (and The Happiness Crew team) I got to go down the sand dunes twice! I felt so happy and included. Also, sorry if you have a sore back today Gavin - soft sand mixed with a fully grown adult is not the best combo haha. Gavin was also happy to help get my walker in and out of the bus at every stop. The experience itself was very well planned and organized too. I loved learning about the stars and the Pinnacles (especially the dreamtime stories). Really could not recommend this company enough! Would give them 100 thousand million stars if I could (that's an estimate of how many stars in the Milky Way).

I absolutely loved this tour. Gavin our guide was fantastic and knowledgeable. I loved learning about the trees and flowers we drove past as well as the stories of the stars. The sand boarding over the beautiful white sand dunes was so fun and we were able to have many goes and even stand up!
This tour was not rushed. We got to spend ample amounts of time at the sand dunes and at the pinnacles which was very relaxing and meant we got to properly experience the sunset and see all the stars!

Where do start:
First of all loved that they offered pick up and drop off service.
Sandboarding in 'Australian Dubai' was soo much fun.
Afterwards on our way to the Pinnacles National Park we got to see an Emu and serval Kangaroos in the wild!
Once we were in the Pinnacles the sunset was just wow amazing and afterwards seeing the stars in the sky so clear was just another next level experience.
Thank you soo much to Gavin for taking some pretty amazing pictures of us with the stars in the background.
Uhhh did I mentioned we camped out there and had some lovely drinks and a barbie?

You can visit the Pinnacles on your own with a car, but this tour made it so much easier. Pickup and drop-off were smooth, the sandboarding good fun, the Pinnacles an amazing sight, and dinner in the desert simple but satisfying. It's a big afternoon out, but totally worth the effort. The Pinnacles are definitely worth seeing, and we had plenty of time to relax there. The stargazing was really good — I loved that they supplied binoculars, comfy chairs and blankets — and go on a night without much moon if you want to see more. I also loved the crystal-pyramid sound experience one of the drivers offered, and tasting some indigenous plants. Tips: take your own toilet paper for the Pinnacles and a really warm coat.

Gavin kindly picked me up from my Airbnb north of the CBD, so I didn't have to travel into the city. The sandboarding was fun and not too scary, and dinner was sensational — sausages, salads and wine. There were lovely touches that enhanced the stargazing, like binoculars, telescopes, blankets and picnic mats. Gavin is an amazing, knowledgeable guide who explained the sights along the way and pointed out features in the night sky — the Milky Way, the Scorpio constellation, the Jewel Box and Butterfly clusters, and Mars — and even took photos of us with the Milky Way behind. I'd recommend bringing gloves, as it got cold. An enjoyable and memorable experience.

A wonderful trip to the Pinnacles — Skip kindly picked our group of six up from our Airbnb, saving us the trip into the city. The sandboarding was good fun even though it was cold, and at the Pinnacles we were fortunate to see the half-moon and some stars despite the cloud, with Skip passionately pointing out constellations and planets. The Pinnacles are unique and surreal, especially at night; dinner was sausages, salads and wine, and there were plenty of blankets and chairs for all. An interesting trip — thank you.
“Excellent from start to finish”
Gavin was excellent and we loved the tour from beginning to end. Pickup was ideal, we stopped to stretch our legs and grab a bite while Gav told us about the village, and the sand surfing was great fun. Then on to the Pinnacles with time to explore before a BBQ and stargazing, with Gavin sharing lots of information about the sky and the stories of the Pinnacles and taking beautiful photos for us. A great night.

My partner and I had a memorable trip and really enjoyed the sandboarding, sightseeing and stargazing. Watching the breathtaking sunset over the Pinnacles desert was a highlight, and even with a nearly full moon we still saw stars (check the moon phase and opt for minimal moonlight if you can). We were pleasantly surprised by the telescopes set up by the guides, and our guide Skip had lots of energy and humour. Thank you to Gavin and his wife for the delightful birthday cake for my partner — a lovely surprise. Overall a great experience we'd recommend.

Absolutely loved this tour and would highly recommend to anyone. Its very informal and perfect for anyone who wants to experience something a little different. The sandboarding was great fun, but, it wasn't obligatory and an alternative was available for those not so nimble on their feet. Catching the Pinnacles at Sunset is just magical. It brought an emotional moment for me that just made my trip to Oz.

Everything on the list of activities was better than I expected. The sandboarding was so much fun on soft white sand — you sit on the board, so it's not scary at all. From there we swapped white sand for golden quartz to see the amazing Pinnacles, but the true star was the stargazing, clearly the guide's passion. What we could see of the moon through the telescope is something I couldn't have imagined, and he went out of his way to show us constellations and, by popular demand, Mars. A wonderful experience I couldn't recommend more highly. (Take warm clothes — and then take more.)

Highly recommend — just make sure you have a good sense of humour, as the guides are sharp and witty. Gavin and Skip are also well versed in the geography, environment and astronomy. The whole tour — the Pinnacles, the stargazing, the sunset — was phenomenal, and I'm still talking about it three months later. P.S. Gavin's partner makes the best salads; dinner was superb.

Gav and Sam were absolutely fantastic on our sunset Pinnacles stargazing tour. After delays to our cruise ship's arrival, Gav offered to wait at the terminal to collect us and our luggage and drop us at our hotel before the tour. Dinner in the desert was a lovely home-cooked meal with fascinating stories of how the Pinnacles came about, and we stargazed through binoculars and telescopes as Gav shared Dreamtime stories and astronomy. They topped it off with an incredible sound-healing ritual. The highlight of our holiday — 10/10, would do it again in a heartbeat!

Our Community Centre recently organized an outing with a private tour company, who drove 30 of our members to the Pinnacles. The outing proved to be a wonderful success.

I'm still relishing in my experience yesterday of a trip from Perth to the Pinnacles culminating in watching sunset ( glorious) from Pinnacle Dessert, bbq meal and wine while listening to Gavin tell us history and stories of the Pinnacles , then being able to view magical galaxies through telescopes( how magical is the Jewel Casket galaxy ) Gavin's knowledge of and ability to share his knowledge is awesome. The evening was beautifully ended with a Sound Healing meditation. Nothing beats this experience of sights sounds and cameraderie.
“Stars in my eyes”
Our driver's sense of humour was dry, which is just how we like it — non-pretentious is the best. Even when the bus had a mechanical issue, the company had a plan B, and we were only delayed an hour, which meant we saw more stars. Lovely BBQ dinner with wine or non-alcoholic choices, a sandhill toboggan that's a must on the way, and awesome Pinnacles. Book this — you won't regret it.

The whole day was really good, from pickup right through to drop-off. Our driver and host Gavin was very friendly and knowledgeable. The Lancelin sand dunes were amazing — I didn't sandboard but my son did and it looked fun — and the stargazing at the Pinnacles was out of this world. Highly recommend.

Our community centre organised an outing to the Pinnacles for 30 of our members, and it was a wonderful success. We left in the afternoon and stopped en route at a lovely beach for a most informative talk from our driver on Aboriginal bush tucker and the medicinal uses of the local plants. We arrived at the Pinnacles before sunset, and although an overcast sky had threatened rain all afternoon, it cleared almost magically as we arrived, giving us time to walk about and enjoy the stargazing. A wonderful experience.

Awesome tour! Despite the weather being unseasonably cold, wet and windy, Gavin still delivered a very worth while experience. From the convenient and on-time pick up, to the amazing BBQ (including a variety of salads, wines and accommodating different dietary needs) at the pinnacles, everything ran smoothly. While we weren't able to use the telescopes due to cloud cover, Gavin tried his best to find clear night sky for us and still provided us with amazing facts and stories from the first nations people of the land we were on. This trip was absolutely amazing! First the sand dunes — great fun, and be prepared to get sand everywhere — then a quick plant guide with a taste of one (very salty), then the breathtaking Pinnacles with time to walk around and take pictures. We sat in chairs in a circle with wine and food, listened to stories about the Pinnacles, then looked at Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn and all the stars. A great day and night — definitely do this if you have the time!

Our guides Gavin and Sabine were great. Sabine introduced many aspects of Australian nature along the way, so the long bus journey didn't feel long, and Gavin gave us a snippet of the solar system that got us thinking about our place in the universe (sadly it was cloudy so we didn't see stars, but that's beyond anyone's control). Dinner was nicely prepared with loads of healthy salads and grilled sausages. Thanks Gavin and Sabine — we hope to give the starry night another chance one day!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The guides were welcoming and very knowledgeable about both native plants and astronomy, and we were lucky to have a clear night with a beautiful view of the stars despite the bright moon. Dinner was an Aussie barbecue with a generous selection, the hotel pickup and drop-off were prompt, and the bus was well air-conditioned. Definitely recommend, especially if you'd rather not hire a car.
“Simply Wow”
We did this tour to experience something unique, and it delivered. The sand surfing and Pinnacles desert were once-in-a-lifetime, and the stargazing was amazing — so far from town there are no lights to dim the view. Gavin knows his stuff and was very informative, and using the telescopes was a huge bonus. Dinner was good, and the setting made it even better. Be aware there's a fair bit of time on the bus, but it's comfortable enough. I'd definitely suggest this tour.
“A Little Bit of Everything”
The Pinnacles, part of Nambung National Park, are thousands of limestone structures believed to have formed over 25,000 years ago, and the area is known for its dark skies, ideal for stargazing. Before arriving we stopped at the Lancelin sand dunes for sandboarding, drove the Turquoise Coast to Hangover Bay, and took a guided walk to see native plants used by Aboriginal people for food and medicine. Then came a sunset dinner and stargazing — using a computerised telescope we saw the moon in detail and could photograph it with our phones — while our guides prepared a delicious barbecue and talked about Indigenous culture and astronomy. It finished with a sound-healing session using a didgeridoo and crystal bowl.

A relaxing and informative way to spend an afternoon and evening. We skipped the sandboarding for a quiet drink at the beachside bar before the wildflower wander and the amazing Pinnacles — they really are something, with plenty of time to wander among them as the sun sets and the BBQ sizzles. Cloudy skies meant travelling back towards the coast for better stargazing, which was terrific, and our guide's explanations of why we're all here were wonderful. A great tour for all ages and interests.

A wonderful, super-organised tour run by Gavin. The starry sky was already very impressive with the naked eye, but through the telescope we could see the rings of Saturn and Jupiter's moons. We also got a special, delicious vegetarian dinner by prior booking, and when it got cold after sunset there were extra blankets to keep us warm.
“Enjoyable!”
Gavin and co. hosted us with warm hospitality. We were picked up at our hotel and brought to Lancelin for some sand-dune boarding, with a wildflower and bush tour where we learned how First Nations people used the land's resources. The pièce de résistance, the Pinnacles, was a sight to behold — catch lots of pictures as the sun sets. It was a pity the skies were cloudy, though we did see some stars and an almost-full moon (check the moon phase and weather when you book). We ended with a cosy barbie, snags and wine.
“Quite an experience to try out”
Expect a couple of hours on the road each way — it's a desert, after all. We went sand surfing before the Pinnacles and had a lot of fun (you'll be covered in sand, but the wind at the Pinnacles helps). It was cold and windy at night, but blankets are provided, and the BBQ was a nice touch. A lovely experience listening to the stories of the Milky Way while lying on the benches and seeing the moon and other planets through the guides' telescopes.
“A great tour - well worth the drive”
I enjoyed the whole tour and thought it was good value. The sandboarding was very fun (don't go to the pub instead!) and the landscapes were spectacular — great for photographers. Gavin was a very good guide, knowledgeable about the natural history and making sure we got the most out of it even when the odd rain shower passed through. I'd recommend this tour for solo travellers — people were friendly and I had a great time. Dress warmly in Oct/Nov; blankets are provided.

A good-value trip. We stopped at Lancelin to surf the sand dunes, took a side trip to Hangover Beach and finished at the Pinnacles, where there was dinner and telescopes to look through. I had a great day on this tour. The sandboarding was fun to try, and the bakery we stopped at had delicious vanilla and caramel slices. The talk about edible plants and their uses by Indigenous people was interesting, and the Pinnacles were great to see. Our driver Gavin was so lovely and knowledgeable about the Aboriginal culture, stars and much more. They picked me up and dropped me at private accommodation in north Perth, which made it very accessible. The sand dunes were beautiful and going down them was a lot of fun, and the Pinnacles at sunset over the ocean was incredible. The park was closed for flooding so we couldn't drive into the desert, but we still saw Saturn's rings through the telescope, and the stars through binoculars were incredible. Would 100% recommend — they're the only ones with proper stargazing equipment.

Don't overthink it — book before you miss out! I'm so glad my 75-year-old mum and I booked this. We've been on many tours and seen a lot of the world, but nothing like this — the unique landscapes, sunset, night sky and serenity speak for themselves. Gavin made it a memory of a lifetime, with a small group and personalised, knowledgeable service throughout, a great desert BBQ, blankets, binoculars and telescope provided, excellent commentary, complimentary photos at the end, and great stops to sandboard, learn about Aboriginal food and stroll an untouched beach, plus hotel pickup and drop-off. A great day out in our own backyard. Grab a bite at the Lancelin Bakery before some fun on the sand dunes, then check out the wildflowers and views at Hangover Bay while learning about Aboriginal culture and the use of native plants — we were lucky to see kangaroos, an emu and a fox. At the Pinnacles we wandered and took photos while Gavin set up and cooked dinner, then watched the sun set and saw the stars through binoculars and the planets through the telescope. Just awesome — thanks Gavin!

An excellent small-group tour, from 11:30am until 11pm. Our all-in-one guide, driver and narrator Gavin was excellent, giving lively commentary on the history of the land and its people and lots of information about the flora and fauna, and guiding the sand surfing at Lancelin. In the evening came the sunset at the Pinnacles desert, followed by a great dinner while observing the stars — we saw a globular cluster through the telescope and, on a perfectly clear sky, a stunning view of the Milky Way. An excellent tour I recommend to anyone who loves landscapes and stars. Check the forecast, as clear days are perfect for it.

“Wonderful tour”
Four friends and I did the Lumineer tour to the Pinnacles and can't recommend it highly enough. Picked up and dropped off on time in a comfortable bus. To our surprise we went sandboarding — hard to believe as three of us were over 70 — and it was well worth it and a lot of fun, with Gavin encouraging us to give it a go. He was knowledgeable about the uses of native plants and shared little-known WA history, and the highlight was the Pinnacles, where he let us off to explore an area I'd never seen despite several previous visits. The meal was delicious, with allergies and gluten-free needs well catered for. A terrific day, and Gavin was an excellent driver.

A long day — you don't get back to Perth until after 11pm, but the travel is required as WA is huge. Great hosts in Gaz and Natalie, and the dinner at the Pinnacles lookout on sunset was a treat. The snippets of bush-tucker info were fascinating and never boring, and after dinner came star- and planet-gazing with Gavin's telescope and binoculars. A special and unique experience out in the desert with an almost-full moon, plenty of planets and stars and a subtle Indigenous understanding.

A really cool experience. The sandboarding is fun and super safe — anyone can do it — and the dinner was really great. We had a super-bright moon, which was awesome to look at, though I'd choose a small crescent moon next time so it didn't hide so many stars. Take a jumper, as it was windy and cool even on a 31-degree day. Being at the Pinnacles during sunset is surreal!

“I Have Never Seen So Many Stars!”
For me the sandboarding and the stargazing in the Pinnacles desert were the two highlights. The Pinnacles are really interesting to wander and explore, but seeing so many stars was truly fantastic — there's almost no light pollution, and we each had binoculars and use of a large telescope. We were picked up on time in the Perth CBD, stopped at a chocolate store and a coffee shop for a tasting, and drove a couple of hours seeing kangaroos and emus while our guide shared fascinating facts. After a quick lunch we went sandboarding on the shockingly cool sand — everyone joined in, including a couple in their 60s — then reached the Pinnacles, where we wandered while our guide prepared a simple but delicious dinner of salads, sausages, rolls and wine. The magic happened when the sun dropped and the stars appeared — I've never seen so many in my life. The price was reasonable and well below a private tour.

A brilliant day. We were picked up in Perth and went to the Swan Valley for a chocolate shop (I could have spent a fortune!) and coffee tasting, then on to Lancelin for sand surfing — we didn't think we'd do it but loved it. From there to Hangover Bay for a barbecue and on to the Pinnacles, which surprised me with how vast it was. We watched a beautiful sunset, then studied the stars through telescopes and binoculars and got a photo of the moon. We were split into two buses, and my guides Roy and Mick were very knowledgeable and great at giving a large group enough time at every place to truly enjoy ourselves. I thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon in the Swan Valley as the tour got underway, and sand surfing in Lancelin was fun, but the highlight was stargazing at the Pinnacles that evening. Gavin is very knowledgeable about the local nature, sharing lots on the drive, pointing out wildlife and even stopping to pick 'bush tucker' for us to sample. The dinner he provided at the Pinnacles was quite good (thanks to his wife!), and afterwards we watched Venus and then the whole sky fill with stars — an incredible scene even cameras can't capture. Gavin pointed out constellations and set up high-powered equipment for a closer look at star clusters and dwarf galaxies, then took a group shot with the stars behind us and emailed it as a special souvenir. After ten years of extensive travel, this will long be one of my favourites. Thank you Gavin!

We enjoyed this truly unique astronomical experience, together with the wildlife stopover and the beautiful lobster dinner at Cervantes. We'd have liked an extra hour at the Pinnacles before sunset to see the landmark in daylight, but overall a great day and experience.

The Pinnacles Sunset Stargazing Tour was awesome. Along the way there were stops for a chocolate factory and sandboarding, but the Pinnacles were out of this world — you could imagine being on another planet. Our guide Gavin was fantastic with good communication, and we stargazed through binoculars and telescopes to see the moon and stars, with Gavin very knowledgeable in this area. A BBQ and drinks were provided, and Gavin did it all — setting up the BBQ, explaining the stars, driving. Great tour, Gavin.

The Pinnacles are certainly worth the journey and the stars are amazing. The initial part of the trip to various places in the Swan Valley is nice, but if you're after a full wine-tasting/gastronomic experience this isn't that trip — the stargazing is the star. “A MUST for Tourist & Locals!”
Light pollution in the city makes it impossible to enjoy the night sky, but the guide has invested in equipment — binoculars and a telescope — so tourists and locals can enjoy the stars. Many of us saw shooting stars and orbiting satellites with the naked eye, and the special cameras capture photos with the stars that you can only get from the guide. We were super lucky to be there with no moon to fully appreciate all the stars.

Great value for money and a really good way to see and do a huge amount in a very short time. With only half a day to spare in Perth, we packed in Perth's 'taste valley' (chocolates, wine, coffee), sandboarding, the Indian Ocean, stargazing, a BBQ and, of course, the stunning Pinnacles (we even saw a snake and a couple of kangaroos). We were picked up from our hotel in a minibus and enjoyed the sights of the Swan Valley with stops at a chocolate and a coffee place, then the Lancelin sand dunes for the amazing experience of sand surfing, a beach to dip our toes, and plenty of rest stops. The final destination, the Pinnacles, was absolutely beautiful — we arrived as the sun was setting and wandered the dunes, then enjoyed a BBQ dinner with salad before the telescope came out for the night sky, with binoculars handed out too. I booked this after reading the reviews, and four of us couldn't stop talking about it. Sandboarding was a great experience — people like us never thought we could do it in our 60s! — and we appreciated the BBQ prepared by Gavin. “Amazing trip despite weather”
I went for my girlfriend's birthday and found it amazing. The guides were really friendly and knowledgeable, and the afternoon was really informative about the local culture. The evening meal is a traditional Aussie barbecue with plenty of food, and then the stargazing — despite a cloudy sky we all had a great time, with the guides doing their best and even driving us to another point to try. We saw families, couples and solo travellers, and everyone had a great time. I rarely leave reviews unless something is genuinely bad or spectacular — this is truly spectacular.

I went with my mother and was super excited to see the stars in Western Australia, and the trip did not disappoint. Nicole was amazing — very friendly, and no question was too silly (trust me, my mum asked a few). Even though it was a massive day, we both loved it, and the yummy homemade salads at dinner were almost as good as seeing the rings of Saturn through Gav's telescope. It might seem expensive, but for what you get it's really cheap — we've been telling everyone we meet!

The guides are really fun and entertaining (especially Mick), and if you live in a city, seeing the night sky in the desert will leave you breathless — I hadn't seen a sky like that in decades. This was a small-group tour with a mid-morning pickup — a nice change from early starts. Heading to the Pinnacles, we had a couple of stops to taste wine, chocolates and honey, a most enjoyable morning, with just enough commentary to keep you interested. At the desert we did a wildflower walk, then reached the Pinnacles at dusk for a fantastic sunset, topped off with a telescope to look at the sky — the moon, WOW, we could see the craters and even attach our phone to photograph it, then Jupiter and Saturn. Incredible, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and the best tour of our whole holiday. I can't stop talking about it.

Gavin picked us up on time and we had a comfortable ride with nine fellow travellers. Ample time at every stop, and we all had a fabulous time sliding down the sand dune. We arrived at the Pinnacles in late afternoon and witnessed a fabulous sunset while Gavin prepared a sumptuous dinner, and as night fell we took turns with his telescope to view the moon, Mercury and the ring of Saturn, and he helped everyone photograph the moon through his equipment. With the sky in total darkness, the finale magically appeared — millions of sparkling stars and the unbelievable Milky Way overhead. Speechless! Thank you Gavin for a once-in-a-lifetime experience and getting us all safely home.
“A full day tour that covers a lot of places and experiences”
My aim was to visit the Pinnacles and do some stargazing and astrophotography, and Gavin was helpful throughout the booking so I knew exactly what to expect. The 15-seat bus is quiet, reliable and air-conditioned. Gavin took us to the Swan Valley with commentary on places of interest — a chocolate place with more varieties than you can imagine, a providore with wine tasting, and a lovely coffee specialty café overlooking a lake and vineyards, then a honey shop. After a brief wildflower walk and a stop at Lancelin for a bite, we reached the spectacular white sand dunes, where Gavin was well prepared with boards and clear instructions. Then the main attraction, the Pinnacles, where Gavin set up a small BBQ with a spread of fresh salads and wine as we wandered among the pinnacles waiting for the magical sunset with its long shadows and golden glow. He set up his telescope and we each photographed the moon through it. A highly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful operator — I can understand why this tour is so popular. Well paced over a full 11-hour day. Thank you.
“It is busy because there is a lot, but it is substantial”
The final stops run from the main Pinnacles to stargazing, and it's quite exciting, with plenty packed into a single day — wine, chocolate, honey, bakery and more. It's fulfilling to see so many different points in one day during a short stay, and the stargazing at the end was amazing! The cloud was thick at first, but I was impressed as the starry sky peeked out and the clouds cleared — I was very happy to see the Southern Cross and shooting stars.

It was a full day but we saw many places — the Swan Valley winery and chocolate shop to sample local wines, jams and chocolates, a quirky coffee shop for lunch, and a local honey producer. Then a sand-dune area where most of us tried sandboarding (Gavin offered to take photos or video), and finally the Pinnacles for a magic sunset and a great dinner. Afterwards we stayed to stargaze through the telescopes, with great views of Jupiter, Saturn and the moon on a clear night. Worth every cent — we'll never forget it.

Those who sandboarded enjoyed it, and Gavin's explanation of the visible planets was easy to understand — we were even lucky to see the International Space Station pass overhead. On top of all that, he's a great cook.

From hotel pickup to drop-off the day was great. We started with some shopping in a small, friendly group, and though it was a long drive with plenty of breaks, the highlight was definitely the sunset at the Pinnacles and the stargazing. Highly recommended.

I took my sister on a short birthday trip — our first travelling without our parents — and booked this to get out of the city. The experience was amazing: we saw bits of Perth and Australia, with beautiful scenery and a couple of stops on the way, and spotted emus and kangaroos. We ended with dinner in the desert, watching the sunset and admiring the star-filled sky, lucky to see some planets and the Milky Way. Gavin was very professional, knowledgeable and hospitable, with warm blankets available, and he kindly offered to drop us at a friend's house even though it was out of the way, and took a group photo with his professional camera capturing the breathtaking stars and Milky Way.

A great experience. Gavin picked us up on time and we had a short drive to the Swan Valley for wine tasting, chocolate sampling and a café stop, with great commentary on attractions along the way and a safe, considerate drive (dipping the high beams for oncoming cars and slowing for wildlife). The Lancelin dunes were a great time, and the sunset and stargazing at the Pinnacles were absolutely breathtaking, with Gavin describing the planets, moon and stars and helping with photos. Dinner was fresh salad and good sausages. The drive back to our hotel was much appreciated — thanks Gavin and company for an amazing trip.

An amazing day out — we got to see a lot. Starting in the Swan Valley we had a few stops for chocolates, coffee, honey and wine — a chance to grab a bite and taste lots of interesting things — before venturing into the hinterland for some great natural experiences. Gavin was a fountain of knowledge, pointing out things of interest and, at a nature reserve, identifying lots of plants and how the Indigenous people used them. The sand surfing was great, even if the sand was a little wet for much speed. The weather clouded over at the Pinnacles, so Gavin took us back to the nature reserve and set up his equipment for a barbecue meal, and it was great to see 'The Emu', an Aboriginal astronomy figure, and get good views of Saturn and Jupiter through the binoculars and telescope. A long trip filled with activities — a wonderful experience.

The Pinnacles desert was spectacular, with plenty of time to explore before dinner, and when clouds rolled in we went to another location for stargazing. Although chilly, we had an amazing clear sky full of stars! Gavin was great as driver, guide and chef all in one. Be prepared for a long day, and bring warm jackets.

My family started out as customers and ended up feeling like friends. On an endless rainy night, Gav and Nat went to extreme lengths to find an opportunity for us to see the stars, and Gav's endless energy setting everything up was fantastic. Because my flight was late, Nat drove to the airport to collect me with the other members so I didn't miss this wonderful day. We got to try sandboarding (safe, though climbing the sand hills is tiring) and watch the sunset at the Pinnacles desert over a delicious dinner. At night the desert sky was full of stars, and Gavin set up a telescope so we could photograph them, finishing with a group photo under the starry sky — a beautiful end to a beautiful day.

My partner and I didn't know what to expect, but it was beautiful weather and Gavin was a great guide. The Swan Valley stops were great — wine, chocolate, coffee and honey, with the House of Honey particularly good and offering mead tastings. The sandboarding at Lancelin was really fun on such soft sand, and the highlight was the Pinnacles: a stunning sunset followed by the stargazing. We came away with great memories and photos, and were even dropped back to our Airbnb 25 minutes out of the CBD. The best thing we did on our whole trip. Thanks!
“Amazing day, worth the money!”
We were picked up in the city around 11:30 and headed to wine and chocolate tasting, then coffee and honey — all cute places, and I never felt pressured to buy. We met our guide Mike, a real Aussie with a love of wildlife, eager to point out any animals, then set off for the sand dunes at Lancelin, one of the most fun things I've ever done — the sand was the whitest I've ever seen. After a beautiful isolated beach, we reached the Pinnacles just before sunset. I expected a few stone structures but found 30,000-year-old formations as far as you could see, with time for amazing pictures, and after dark Mike had a nice meal ready with cosy pillows and blankets to lie down and watch the stars. I've never seen such an amazing sky. On the way home Mike, with his love of animals, rescued every creature in danger on the road — our own Steve Irwin experience — and dropped us right at our house.

A wonderful day culminating in the most spectacular night-sky show, with a couple of shooting stars to wish on. It's a long way, but a good chance to catch up on some sleep. Gavin was brilliantly informative and very patient with our nine-year-old son. I'd recommend this to anyone with a little adventure in them.

Really enjoyed this small-group tour with Gavin — timely, professional, knowledgeable, likable and a good communicator. We had a full bus but it was roomy, and Gavin gives details about the area and wildlife as you drive. There are four main stops: the Swan Valley for wine tasting and Margaret River chocolates, then coffee and a honey house, a quick pub stop for bathrooms and an Indian Ocean view, then sandboarding, and finally sunset and a picnic dinner at the Pinnacles. Sandboarding was really fun, and the Pinnacles at sunset were lovely despite some wind and cloud. Gavin brings blankets, pillows, binoculars and telescopes so you can enjoy the starry night, with in-depth info on the stars and constellations and some group photos. Definitely recommend this organised and friendly tour — I'd book with Gavin again!

It's a long day — over 12 hours — but worth every minute for the wide range of activities. The food tastings can be hit and miss on these tours, but these are interesting producers with plenty of variety. The sandboarding was unexpected fun, fairly easy to manage, and the Pinnacles were of course the highlight, with their picturesque setting and statuesque rock formations, followed by a night-sky experience with Gavin's explanations. In between he set up a comfortable resting spot and cooked us dinner including wine. Well worth it.

We loved this tour. The stops along the way are fun (coffee, chocolate, wine and honey), the sand-dune surfing was something you rarely get to do, and the Pinnacles at sunset were spectacular, with time to roam and marvel at them. Dinner was a simple but lovely BBQ and salad with wine and soft drink, and we were lucky to have a clear night and saw heaps of stars from the great viewing platform. Gavin was a great guide who went above and beyond — it was my partner's birthday and Gavin's wife baked him an awesome chocolate cake, which was very thoughtful. A long day but well worth it.

The lovely couple who run this tour are kind, easy company and extremely knowledgeable — Natalie answered almost all my questions. The chocolate/wine/coffee part can feel a little rushed with the crowds, but the tastings are really good, and the best was the honey, which is saying a lot as I don't usually enjoy it — even the mead was delicious. It's a bit of a drive in the afternoon, but really enjoyable if you chat and ask questions, and they point out kangaroos and other wildlife. The sand surfing is fun with incredible views, and the guides make sure you're safe. The Pinnacles at sunset are one of the most breathtaking sights you could hope for. The guides finish the night with a thoughtful, delicious meal and, of course, stargazing — by then I felt they were my friends. I can't compliment them enough; they could charge a lot more but don't. A long day, and unfortunately the clouds weren't kind for the stargazing, but the sandboarding was fun and the Pinnacles are amazing — seeing them at sunset was a highlight. The BBQ dinner and salads were fantastic, and Gavin and his wife work very hard. The scenery along the way was something we'd never seen before, and the Swan Valley stops help break up the long journey up the coast.

The short visits from the city to the Pinnacles were fantastic, and the kids enjoyed sandboarding at Lancelin. Even though the weather wasn't favourable at the Pinnacles, the guides made the effort to bring us to another place called Gingin, where we were lucky the sky was clear to view the beautiful stars. A fantastic trip and great value for money. We visited the Margaret River Chocolate Factory, a winery/providore, a coffee roaster and a honey place in the Swan Valley before heading north for sand surfing at Lancelin (a fun new experience) and finally the Pinnacles, with plenty of time to explore before dinner. We had cloud cover so moved to an alternate location to stargaze. The Pinnacles were amazing, and this was a really good way to see and do a lot in a day in WA. Well worth it.

The husband-and-wife team are friendly and thoughtful, with warm blankets, binoculars and telescopes for guests — the blankets came in handy on a chilly night even in summer. We selected this tour before leaving the UK, and everything was efficient and on time — an email to confirm, a reminder the day before with the full itinerary, pickup time, driver and exact location. Gavin took us on an amazing 11-hour tour: chocolate factory, wine tasting, coffee producer, honey shop, sandboarding on the white dunes, then the spectacular Pinnacles desert for the most amazing evening of food, drink and stargazing — the most amazing night sky I've ever seen. Gavin's knowledge is remarkable and we learned so much, and he chatted to everyone, especially those travelling alone — no one was left out. His wife was lovely too and fed us. “A grade tourism with a personal touch”
The tour was a gift, so we went in without much research, and we absolutely loved it from start to finish — a great example of why I prefer a small, family-owned business to the large tourism factories. The stops on the way were fun in themselves, and presented for what they were: breaks on the drive to the Pinnacles. The stargazing was definitely the highlight. “Varied, fun and awe inspiring”
Thoroughly enjoyed our Pinnacles Stargazing tour with Gavin and Natalie. We first stopped at a vineyard/chocolate shop, coffee shop and honey shop, exploring and sampling at our own pace, before Lancelin for sandboarding — great fun, and everyone took part — and a quick stop at Hangover Bay. At the Pinnacles we had a good half hour to explore around sunset while Gavin and Natalie laid out a delicious dinner of BBQ sausages, bread and sides with soft drinks and wine. The stargazing didn't go to plan on an unusually cloudy evening, so we drove back towards Perth and clearer skies, pulling up in a small car park to check out the stars with binoculars — I've never seen so many. Dropped off at our accommodation about 10.30pm. It's a long day for the hosts, but they were friendly, informative and great company throughout. One of the best bits of our Perth trip — thank you both.

One of the best things we've done in Australia! It was a last-minute plan with only three nights in Perth, but this tour not only exceeded our expectations, it awakened our interest in stargazing, rewarding us with incredible magnified views we'd never seen before — and we were blessed with good weather. The Pinnacles Sunset & Star Gazing tour was recommended as something a little different, and how true that was! A must-do if travelling to Perth. Gavin and Natalie are amazing hosts and guides, keeping their tours personalised and much better than a large, impersonal company. The Swan Valley and Lancelin stops break up the 2+ hour drive nicely and let you pick up some lovely wine and chocolate, and the Pinnacles are best described as magical, with sunset arrival allowing amazing photos. The included dinner under the stars is lovely, and the stargazing is a perfect finale. I can't thank Natalie and Gavin enough for a memorable adventure.

It starts around noon with a few winery and chocolate stops, but the main courses — sandboarding at the Lancelin dunes and dinner and stargazing at the Pinnacles — are more than worth it. At the Pinnacles you have dinner watching the beautiful sunset, then stargaze with various professional devices or just lie back on the blankets, with explanations of the stars, and they even photograph you under the Milky Way and email it. You'll never regret it — I'm from Korea, so all of this was marvellous and new to me. Highly recommended!

The Sunset and Stargazing tour was an experience I'll treasure for years. The one thing I knew I had to see in Perth was the Pinnacles desert — I'd dreamed of it since primary school — and thanks to Gavin and Natalie my visit exceeded my wildest dreams, visiting the park at sunset to see the rocks glow and staying on when no one else was around to watch the night sky light up. I also loved the extra stop at the Lancelin sand dunes, where we tried sandboarding down the snow-white sand. Don't hesitate to book if you want a unique, intimate experience of Western Australia's natural gems.
“A different, varied and well-delivered tour”
I did the Pinnacles Sunset Tour and wasn't disappointed. Gavin, who owns and runs the tours, goes the extra mile to ensure people have a memorable time — he happily picked me up on the outskirts of Perth rather than making me travel in, and dropped me at a convenient point afterwards, which made a big difference when you don't get back until 10pm. He has a comfortable, modern, air-conditioned 12-seater and gives commentary along the way with sufficient toilet breaks. It's a packed itinerary, but the time at each stop is about right. The sandboarding is fun, and the highlight is the Pinnacles — seeing the moonscape before and during sunset when most people have left is special. Gavin then sets up dinner (BBQ sausages, delicious salads and wine) and, as the stars emerge, his stargazing tripod and super-zoom binoculars, through which I could see Venus. Absolutely amazing. Bring extra layers as it gets cold quickly after sunset. A great, if long, day out.

This tour offers an off-track way to visit the Pinnacles, and you leave having gained so much about Aboriginal culture, the uses of the plants around Perth, and the stars and planets. Gavin was an awesome guide, clearly passionate and knowledgeable, and I really appreciated that he ran the tour despite just the two of us (my mum and I) after another family's flight was delayed. He went to great lengths — bringing us to spots along the way, running up and down the Lancelin dunes with the sand board, being our cameraman, and preparing blankets, pillows, binoculars, a telescope and a dinner of chicken kebabs and hotdogs with wine. The most personalised tour I've been on, and I travel extensively. The highlight was the sunset at the Pinnacles and the stars and planets, and although a full moon dimmed the Milky Way, I saw two shooting stars, seven emus and four kangaroos — no regrets. One of the best tours I've done in Australia. Gavin was a lovely guide, friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. One of my favourite bits was the sandboarding — amazing fun, with loads of tips from Gavin, and I even managed most of the way down standing up. But my absolute highlight was the stargazing: with no light pollution, the Pinnacles are the perfect place, and Gavin had a telescope, binoculars and a laser pointer to help us see the stars more clearly and know which was which. The food was excellent — a spread of salads and a BBQ with sausages, and a choice of wine or water. Well organised and well run. You really must go on this tour if you're travelling around Perth!

The best tour I've ever done — I'll never forget the sky, the stars and the amazing Milky Way. If you go with them and see the other tour teams, you'll know why this is the best. If you're in Perth, this is the one thing you must do!

A superb tour with this couple of genuine, careful south-westerners. Everything was perfectly taken care of: the stops, the explanations, the Aboriginal culture and history, the astronomy, the food (Nat is an excellent cook), the table arrangement, the telescope, binoculars and laser pointer. We were after a last-minute sunset tour to the Pinnacles, as most regular tours only do day trips, and we were pleasantly surprised from beginning to end. Gavin is a very informative, friendly guide who delivered more than expected — a pretty sunset dinner overlooking the Pinnacles, then full equipment for stargazing. A worthy experience!

Lying down to see a whole sky full of stars, after a beautiful sunset over the Pinnacles desert — magical. The tour provided a telescope so we could view Jupiter with three of its moons, and a nice BBQ dinner just before sunset. At the end, our experienced and alert driver-guide Sam gave us a safe ride back to Perth in the dark.

A really good tour. Our driver Skip was amazing — funny and knowledgeable. We had the option to go sandboarding or to the pub, then stopped at pretty Hangover Bay to step into the water. At the Pinnacles we walked around at our own pace and watched a beautiful sunset, then had sausages and salad and gazed at the stars. A wonderful night.

An excellent tour — the guide was extremely knowledgeable, pointing out constellations and their age and distance from Earth. Binoculars were supplied and we observed through some high-powered telescopes, and we were fed an excellent barbecue with salad. On the way from Perth we also had the chance to sandboard on the dunes and were shown edible plants used by First Nations people.

A unique and very well-organised experience I highly recommend — about a 12-hour tour with pickup and stops along the way to the Pinnacles desert. The drive begins with an incredible ocean view, then a café stop and super-fun sandboarding, then the desert with a native-plants tour (we even saw kangaroos and rabbits). At the desert you get free time to explore and photograph the Pinnacles, then a barbecue dinner and telescopes set up to view planets and stars — I saw the moon very clearly and even photographed it, plus Saturn, Jupiter and lots of constellations, all with the guide's commentary on local Aboriginal traditions and the universe. The team is very caring, providing blankets for the freezing desert night, and the drive was comfortable. It was so light under the moon we didn't need a flashlight, and the dome of stars left us speechless. If you're limited on time and wondering which tour to join, definitely try this one!

Such an experience — the sun going down around the Pinnacles and the sky coming alive with stars. Our driver and guide Gavin was so informative and cooked us a barbie in the desert, and we also had a sandboarding experience and looked at some native plants and flowers on the way. A very memorable night — you get back to Perth late, around 11pm, but you can snooze on the bus.

A great day out — picked up from Perth and driven into the countryside. Sandboarding was cool (a bit slower in the rain, and hard work climbing the dunes!), and the Pinnacles desert was a very interesting, unique landscape. The guide cooked us a very good dinner (flag dietary requirements in advance) and was very knowledgeable about the stars and constellations — much better than trying to do it yourself. Blankets provided for the cold Perth winter, and we spotted wild emus and kangaroos from the minibus!

My husband and I took this tour during a week's holiday in Perth. It was well organised and we were made comfortable from the start, and we were lucky to have a private car as the bus was full. Natalie made wonderful conversation, and we had three Swan Valley stops to sample local produce before some great fun sand surfing and reaching the Pinnacles. We had a lovely dinner and were shown the planets and stars through a telescope. A really great day out — and they don't mind if you fall asleep on the way back!

An amazing trip — highly recommend. Great communication about pickup and what to expect the day before. Our driver Skip was funny and very informative, especially about the night sky, and the sandboarding was brilliant (take goggles, as it gets windy). We stopped at a quiet beach to dip our toes, then had about an hour of free time at the amazing Pinnacles while Skip and Sam set up dinner and drinks under the sky. The sky was patchy with cloud, but they waited until everyone had seen Jupiter and Saturn, even staying later to make sure. A great day out — the bus picked me up and dropped me at my hotel. Sandboarding was awesome (beware, the dunes are steep), and the Pinnacles desert was something else, with free time to walk the circular route before sunset and a BBQ where the guide explained how the rocks formed. The stargazing was spectacular — I was a bit anxious it wouldn't live up to expectations, but it was amazing, with the guides explaining exactly what we were looking at through the telescopes.

Our guide and driver Gavin only speaks when necessary but is very knowledgeable and efficient. The tour is a good size (15 maximum), so there's not much waiting around, and they offer hotel pickup with alerts the day before. What's exceptional is the stargazing against the backdrop of the Pinnacles, with binoculars and a telescope — we're no experts, but we really enjoyed relaxing under the starry desert night, quite an exclusive experience as we were the only ones on the observation deck. A great tour.

Our guide Skip was great and knew a lot about the area. The trip was really well planned, with a rest stop for drinks and snacks and some fun sandboarding in the dunes before we reached the stunning Pinnacles, where we had plenty of time to explore before dinner on the observation deck. Skip even brought veggie patties for the BBQ, as I'd asked beforehand. The wait for darkness was long but totally worth it — breathtaking scenery with Skip telling us all about the stars and planets. One of the best things I've done in WA. Lots of variety — from sandboarding on magnificent white dunes against a blue sky to sunset over the Pinnacles and stargazing in a true dark sky, seeing the Milky Way with my own eyes and checking out Saturn and Jupiter through the telescope. Friendly guides and a nice Aussie BBQ dinner, with lots of time to view the sky (I prefer the simple dinner so there's more time for viewing).

The Pinnacles are cool and look great. The weather was great and the sand golden yellow, and the guide showed us around and briefed us thoroughly on the stars.

We chose the night of the dark moon, when you can view the stars best. It had been cloudy all day, but our committed guide Natalie kept monitoring the radar for cloud movement over the desert, and by the time we reached the Pinnacles the clouds had cleared and we caught a stunning sunset. The dinner prepared by the couple was fabulous, and afterwards we lay back on the observatory deck to watch the stars, with Gavin bringing out binoculars and a laser to point out the constellations. One of the most amazing experiences of my life — if I could choose only one tour in Perth, I'd do this all over again.

I joined this tour alone but it was still an amazing trip. I enjoyed the shopping at the chocolate factory and honey shop, the interesting coffee tasting, and lots of fun sand surfing at Lancelin, and my guide Natalie gave great commentary on the drive — we even met a few kangaroos on the way to the Pinnacles. The sunset at the Pinnacles was really good, adding pink colour to the rocks, and after the BBQ dinner the stars came out — I couldn't believe I could see so many, even the Milky Way. What a fantastic day! Gavin picked us up right on time and whisked us through the Swan Valley and Lancelin to the Pinnacles, where we saw these amazing natural features. We had a delicious dinner (including cake for my birthday!) and finally a huge star-filled sky — or as much as the weather allowed. Gavin shared lots of information and has the fitness of a racehorse after running up and down the Lancelin sand hills. We were safely delivered back to our pickup point. We were informed of every step — what we'd see at this time of year, the timings and all the important toilet stops on such a long, remote trip — and the journey out was broken up with activities. The desert night can be freezing, but armed with Gav's pillows and blankets I stayed warm and cosy, and the stargazing was one of the most magical nights I've experienced. Big thanks to Gav!
“Incredible Tour 😊”
By far one of the best tours if you want to see many highlights of WA in one day. The lovely couple who run it are dedicated, passionate, efficient, knowledgeable and helpful. We started with coffee, chocolate and honey tasting, then sand-dune surfing (lots of fun), then the magical sunset and, to top it off, the amazing stargazing. A great experience, and we met some lovely people. Highly recommend.
