Itinerary
This busy, action-packed day combines two of Tasmania's iconic experiences — a Tasmanian Devil feeding and time to explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site — plus the historic village of Richmond and the stunning Waterfall Bay clifftop track.
We make an early start from Hobart and drive to the stunning Tasman Peninsula, home to Australia's highest sea cliffs. Enjoy panoramic views from Pirates Bay Lookout, then pass through Eaglehawk Neck and 'The Dogline' as your guides share stories of the area. We begin one of Tasmania's Great Short Walks — a spectacular 45-minute, easy clifftop track along Waterfall Bay, concluding at the remarkable Tasman Arch and Devil's Kitchen.
Next is the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, arriving in time for a Tasmanian Devil feeding — watch the snarling, fighting and bone-crushing spectacle of devilish behaviour, hand-feed the wallabies, and walk among the local flora and fauna in the charming 'Unzoo' setting.
Continuing on, we arrive at the Port Arthur Historic Site. Entry includes a complimentary Harbour Cruise around the Isle of the Dead, 'The Port Arthur Experience' podcast, and complimentary guided site talks. With around 2.5 hours here, discover the grim history of the early Australian penal system — walk among the main penitentiary, see the solitary confinement cells and many more buildings in this World Heritage open-air museum.
On the return to Hobart, we travel via the historic township of Richmond, with time to meander the streets, stop for coffee, visit the lolly shop and chocolatier, and walk across Australia's oldest bridge still in use — a convict-built sandstone bridge, reported to be haunted! We arrive back in Hobart around 6:00pm.

We had a lovely day. Patrick was our tour guide and driver and he was extremely organized and caring. We had a magnificent day. Adding the unzoo experience is highly recommended as well.

I had an amazing time at my Rock to rock tour!!! The sights were amazing and the tour guides Lauren and Sara truly made this trip a magical experience!!! They shared interesting stories, answered endless questions and shared a lot of laughs with us. Within just a few days, we grew close together, which was thanks to our amazing guides and the exciting experience we shared. Sleeping under the stars, cooking on the fire and climbing and hiking some of Australias most magical rocks was a once-in-a-lifetime which I truly recommend!!! Mulgas adventures structured the trip very well, so we could enjoy a stress free few days!

Mulgas Adventures exceeded every expectation. We visited Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and Kings Canyon, and the scenery across all of them was absolutely breathtaking. But what really elevated the whole experience was our guide Sophie — her knowledge, storytelling, and energy made everything come alive. She clearly loves what she does and it shows. The whole vibe of the tour was warm, fun, and genuinely special. Can’t recommend enough — ask for Sophie if you can!

It was the best time. Small group with so much fun, relaxing & loads of historical history, excellent easy walking, Heather was amazing, very reliable relaxing & accomadating. Tassie Devil was so eye opening, the real up front with seeing it get feed, was WOW, & you really feed the kangaroos & birds. Port Arthur was big place to look at, you can do 3 hours with tassie Devil or 4 hours just at Port Arthur. We did 3 hours, was good for us. It's a must to do this tour. We fit in so much in 1 day. Oh thanks to Heather we got to fit in the jail at Richmond was the icing on the cake, that has to be a much to do, didn't even know of that place, & I have being to Tasmania 7 times, my husband first time. Was nice that all admission was taken care off, so u can just enjoy the day. Heather even gave you a choice if you hated to do Tassie Devil tour at a extra cost, but still cheap tour way, than paying more there. It's really value for money.
We did the Tasmanian Devil tour one day and Russell Falls at Mount Field the next — two fantastic tours. Our driver and guide Sean made it extra memorable; his commentary and dry wit made the bus trip whizz by, and his knowledge was first class. Nothing was too much trouble — 5+ stars in our opinion.

“Great Tour Despite The Rain”
It was a cold and wet day but don't let that discourage you! On top of being friendly and knowledgeable, our tour guide Matt was well prepared for the rain with extra umbrellas and raincoats. We started the day with a couple of sightseeing spots before heading to the Unzoo. This was such a fun stop. We feed the kangaroos, watched the tassie devils fight over their food and got to feed some birds during the bird show.
On to Port Arthur which was self guided so great to work at your own pace. The harbour cruise was informative but because of the rain it was foggy out at sea.
A quick stop in the town of Richmond was a great way to end the day. Plenty of little stores to pop in to in this quaint little village.
I had a great day and would definitely recommend this tour!

The tour guide Ian was excellent, and very informative. The tour was a good mix with the Unzoo, a walk, Port Arthur and a short stop at the end in Richmond. We got a good range of information while on the bus travelling between stops as well.

We loved this tour. The kids enjoyed the hike and the Unzoo, and getting to pet kangaroos was an unexpected highlight. The devil feeding and stories were fantastic, and Port Arthur is absolutely beautiful!
I did the Bonorong and Richmond half-day and had a blast. After hotel pick-up we had a guided tour of Bonorong — seeing a Tasmanian Devil feed and wombats was great, and the kangaroo field was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for someone from overseas. In Richmond it was windy, so I found a spot near the bakery for a lovely, unexpected whisky tasting. Our driver was knowledgeable and entertaining.

We did the Port Arthur and Tasmanian Devil tour in winter. I had originally done some research months in advance and planned to book it, but found out it was sold out weeks before our trip. I reached out to them directly, and thankfully, they were able to make arrangements to squeeze us in. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing both historical insights and personal experiences. It was such a wonderful experience. I can’t quite remember his name now, but I do recall he mentioned being a lecturer. He gave us great tips on how to tour Port Arthur efficiently,which was super helpful since we only had about three hours there. I’d definitely recommend allowing more time if you can, as the site is massive and rich with history. Overall, I highly recommend this tourstas. They went above and beyond to accommodate us, and the experience was well worth it.

I really wanted a tour that had some element of outdoors activity to it and this one did not disappoint - the first half of the day consists of a long hike through the gorgeous Bruny surrounds, which helps build up the appetite for the many subsequent food delicacies the island has to offer.

Did the Port Arthur, Richmond and Tassie Devils Active Tour from Hobart. Loved the unzoo. Port Arthur was great but not nearly enough time to see it all or wait for the times to have a guide talk you through the history. We don't know if it was the weather but it felt like half of the Port Arthur buildings were closed also, it was raining. We walked it, read the placards of info, and we maybe got half way done before we ran out of time. You need a whole day to do Port Arthur history justice.

The highlight was the unzoo. Seeing T. Devils in person was amazing. The unzoo and explanations were a real highlight. The tour driver, Ian, provided more insights into Tasmania, the devils and local information. He explained goals of the island and much more.

Great tour. The Mt Field hike is about 3 hours long and has a lot of stairs in two locations. You can leave after the first couple of falls and go back to the visitor center, but at that point, we were 1/3 way through the loop and majority of the group wanted to continue. Tour guide went on full loop with us so whole group went. Great seeing it all but was too much walking for a couple of people in our group. The tour guide was fabulous and pointed out many interesting things on our hike. Fun time at the wildlife center and beautiful views from Mt. Wellington.

“Cruise Ship Excursion to Tasman Unzoo and Port Arthur”
We took the Hobart Cruise Ship Tour – Port Arthur & Tassie Devils with Ian as our driver for the day. He was very informative and kept us fully briefed during the trip. It's a fair trek out to the Tasman Peninsula from Hobart but it didn't seem to take too long at all.
Our first stop was the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo which turned out to be a great experience as our arrival coincided with their feeding time.
We would have liked to have stayed longer but due to the cruise ship timings, we were soon on the Port Arthur where we enjoyed several hours walking around on our own and learning about its history and enjoying the scenery. Prior to going in, Ian gave us lots of pointers and places of interest that would enhance our visit. The entrance fee also included a short cruise around the Isle of the Dead.
On the way back to Hobart we stopped at the Tasman National Park Lookout for some photo opportunities.
Back in good time for a quick stroll around Hobart CBD before going back to the ship.
All in all a great day out and one we could certainly recommend.

I booked the day trip of Port Arthur and Tasmania Devil from Hobart on Tours Tasmania’s website. It was a good day trip. Our trip guide Heather was friendly and informative. My hotel pick up was 720AM and the van was on time. It was a small group of 9. There were different options people took. Heather made sure she looked after different needs of the group. The trip started with an easy hike with beautiful ocean view, the Unzoo to see Devil deeding. Got to Port Arthur in the afternoon, and short stop at Richmond on the way back. Returned Hobart about 530ish. The small and friendly group atmosphere was great. I enjoyed the trip. Just wish I had more time at Port Arthur.

Alex thoroughly elevated our Tasmania vacation. He had amazing energy, and deep knowledge of the area, which gave context to attractions and fun to the experience. He was also very punctual and communicative about schedules without making anyone feeling rushed, going along with the pace of the group. We loved our time with the animals at the Unzoo! Up close interactions with the kangaroos and wallabies as well as the parrots and birds were a highlight.
Port Arthur was interesting from a historical aspect. Would recommend to get the audio for the self directed tour. It is a walk to get around. Be prepared for the weather ( there was an hour or so down pour)
Richmond is quaint town but nothing really to see. Just enough time to enjoy a glass of wine/ beer and treat

Just had an amazing and memorable trip to the Freycinet National Park! Our tour guide, Alex, was one of the best we ever had. He was very knowledgeable about the place and very friendly too. His enthusiasm for Tasmania was infectious and really elevates our trip. We got to know a lot of things while enjoying the beautiful views in the national park. Don't let his appearance fool you, despite his old age, he was very energetic and full of stamina, didn't even break a sweat throughout the hike, unlike my family and I who struggled a bit. Definetely will recommend this tour to our friends and family or anyone who are planning to visit Tasmania in the future!

I went on the Port Arthur, Richmond & Tassie Devils tour with Trevor as a guide. I cannot express how great he was. He truly made it the best tour I've been on in my travels to Australia. He was so informative and knew so many statistics I had to write them down to remember them all. It was so impressive. I learned more about Tasmania on that tour than I ever thought. He was a great guide and I cannot express how memorable that tour was thanks to him. I would recommend that tour with Trevor as a guide as the number one thing to do in Tasmania.

“Wildlife at Unzoo a delight”
Our driver and tour guide was Ian, he was very knowledgeable of the places we went to specially it's history, he interacted with the group some asked interesting questions and I'm sure everyone learned from each other. My favorite place was Unzoo I got the chance to see the tassie devil and interact with wild parrots at feeding time. I got one literally feeding off my hand.

This day trip was the highlight of my time in Hobart. The bus was very comfortable, and the driver/tour guide Trevor was so knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. There was plenty of time to spend at all the stops along the way to Port Arthur and back again to Hobart. We were able to pet and feed kangaroos, amazing! The Unzoo was wonderful, and seeing a Tasmanian devil was so interesting. I definitely recommend taking this trip. The sights in the Devil's Kitchen was spectacular as well.
“Terrific Small Group Tour of Tasman National Park and Port Arthu”
We had a terrific day with Tours Tasmania. Our guide, Ian, kept a perfect pace with the commentary and interesting, relevant information. We had a great group for this active tour. At the Tasman National Park, Ian took us to a couple of viewing sites, and we then had about 45 minutes to walk independently down a well-marked, easy trail, with several great overlooks along the way. I even saw a wallaby in the forest on my own! We met up with Ian for the last couple of views.
“A full day of views, history, nature, wildlife, and tasty lunch ”
Jarrod was our tour guide and driver. He took the 8 of us on a tour covering 4 locations. We did an easy downhill hike through a beautiful temperate rainforest with waterfalls, then an animal rescue conservancy that included a guided explanation of several indigenous species, then the picturesque village of Richmond for lunch (we loved the scallop pie and for dessert lavender ice cream, both of which he recommended) and wandering, then the Pinnacle Lookout over Hobart. We covered over 100 kilometers and much of it on scenic 2 lane roads.
We were picked up from our hotels at 7:45-ish and dropped off about 4:40: an all day experience with lots of panoramic views from the van interspersed with narration about history, nature, and local culture.
We were thoroughly pleased.

A wonderful day trip to Port Arthur from our P&O cruise ship in Hobart. Organised for our group of 12 at the very last minute...literally an hour before disembarking the ship. Tarren was a wonderfully informative and accommodating guide, and the mini bus was super comfortable and immaculate. We all enjoyed the extra stops along the way, including the chocolate factory and beautiful lookouts. A great day thanks Tassie Tours Tasmania!

“Amazing”
I did this tour when I was visiting Tassie and it was absolutely amazing. I had Andrew as my tour guide, and he was very informative and took the time to get to know you. He was super friendly, and made sure that the group was having a good time. The Tasman peninsula was really breathtaking, and Andrew let us explore on our own. He was super flexible and I never felt rushed taking in the beauty. The Tassie Devil experience was fun, for an extra $10 it was worth it. The zoo isn't big, so I was able to see everything in the hour that was given. I expected a feeding frenzy for the devils, but there was only one devil there, so don't get your hopes up for that. Port Arthur was definitely the highlight. You can choose to do the introductory tour, but I opted out of it to explore on my own. You only get 3-4 hours at the site, which includes the river cruise. This was the only part I felt rushed at, but otherwise I was still able to walk through the entire park and make it in time for the river cruise.
“Devil feeding, kangaroo petting, port Arthur and more”
This was a nice tour but you'll be on the bus a long time. With our guide even longer as he drove very slow. He also talked so much it was almost too much. That's just a personal preference. The sites were awesome. The cliffs we saw and the 40 min hike was incredible. The unzoo was small but cute and you got to see the devil feeding. And of course port Arthur. They really should add some food options as opposed to just stopping at one random place to get food.

Great day out with the family. Well organised and non stop with lots of fantastic new memories made at all of the key stop off’s. Highly recommend this tour if you have the stamina of close to a 10 hour day!
“Port Arthur & Tassie Devils”
I had an excellent day yesterday touring Port Arthur and around the Tasman Peninsular. We drove to Richmond first and early on in the day which was the best way around to do it I think. Quiet streets and the beautiful morning sun made Richmond look even more picturesque. We then drove to the Tasman Peninsular and looked at a number of natural cliff formations and went for a 40 minute walk with stunning views. Some of our party were then dropped at the Tassie Devils sanctuary whilst I and another were driven straight to Port Arthur as we didn't sign up for the wildlife sanctuary. I think this was best decision as we had a lot more time to explore Port Arthur (which is a large site with loads to see) than the others. A great, action packed day!

“Mt. Field, Tassie animals and Mt. Wellington”
I chose this day tour because Visitors Centre Hobart recommended with no second thought when I said I like nature.
The tour was fantastic. I loved 1 1/2 hour tranquil walk to Russel Fall and further, and half an hour walk around Lake Dobson. Our guide Russel, who joked thatRussel Fall was named after him, was knowledgeable and deepen my understanding about Tasmania and Hobart. Photos of Tasmania Tigers at Mt.Field visitors center, and Tasmanian devils and friendly wombats at a zoo(I forgot the name) added attractive taste to the tour.
I joined this tour by myself and there were 3 other individual participants in the tour but Russel's "self introduction time" helped us to feel comfortable to have friendly conversations. It was a long day (10 hour) and Russel must have been tired but he was no nice and thoughtful until the last moment to drop us at different places.

I did this tour as part of the 'Big Three' three-day tour from Hobart to Launceston. The weather on the day of the tour was not ideal, lightly raining nearly the entire day, but I still had a lot of fun. The day started early picking everyone up from their hotels before making a quick stop shortly outside on Hobart for anyone wanting to grab a quick coffee/snack and use the restroom before getting on with the day. We made our way to the Waterfall Bay Cliff Top Walk and seeing the Tasman National Park highlights including the Devil's Kitchen and Tasman Arch. The walk itself was pretty easy. From there, we made our way to the Unzoo where we got to feed kangaroos and see a Tasmanian Devil being fed. We then went to the Port Arthur Historic Site which had two small cafes to purchase lunch from and much to see. You are free to roam about and explore as you want. The tour also included a short cruise through the bay. I personally enjoyed a glass of wine and snacks while listening to the commentary from the guide. After leaving Port Arthur, we made a stop at the Federation Chocolate Factory where we tried unique flavors of chocolates. Last stop on the trip was Richmond where we were able to walk around and explore the various shops on our own. The day was long with so much to see and do, but it was very enjoyable, even with the rain, and I learned a lot from the guides.

A great Tassie Devils and Richmond tour that supports a wildlife sanctuary rather than a zoo — we saw wombats, koalas, kangaroos and the fiery little devils. Sue was a good guide, sharing history throughout, and Richmond (explored on your own) has great buildings — the churches, the bridge and the gaol are all interesting. Thank you Sue for making our day so enjoyable.

I really enjoyed my day, bad weather aside — so happy to see Tasmanian devils, kangaroos and more! We visited the old village of Port Arthur, Richmond, walked in the national park and saw the Tasman Arch. Our guide Nick was great — very knowledgeable, sharing lots of interesting information, smiling and attentive to the group. I really recommend this tour and company!
“Devil Of A Good Time”
This well-organised 10-hour tour combined historic Port Arthur and the Unzoo, where we interacted with kangaroos and birds in a less-restricted environment and learned how the Unzoo is working to protect the Tasmanian devils from disease. The interactive bird show was loads of fun, and our three-hour Port Arthur exploration was fascinating on the convict impact on Tasmanian culture. On the way back we stretched our legs at the Tasman Arch and Pirates Bay. Our guide Nick was very informed about Tasmanian culture and history and always ready to answer questions. A long but well-spent day.
“Action-packed day”
The Port Arthur and Tassie Devils day trip was billed as 'active' and certainly moved quickly between attractions — a great introduction to the Tasman Peninsula for someone with limited time, with an enthusiastic, knowledgeable guide. Winter may not be ideal (Richmond was almost dark and mostly closed by the time we arrived), and it's not for those who like a leisurely pace, but for a quick introduction to the devils, Port Arthur and the scenic highlights it was well worth doing.

We did the Port Arthur and Tassie Devil day tour and had a great time. Everything was well organised and, although packed, we had enough time at each attraction. Simon was our friendly, efficient guide, handling everyone's different options and add-ons well.
“A day-long, delightful dip into history”
A lovely full-day trip combining scenic lookouts, a quick sea-cave trail walk (Devils Kitchen), a brief Richmond visit (Australia's oldest bridge and church), a chocolate tasting and, of course, historic Port Arthur. Our guide Ian was superb, pointing out places of note and giving easy, helpful history lessons about Tasmania and its peoples. I added the Tasmanian Devil park — well worth it for a kangaroo feeding, a fascinating devil feeding, and a campy but entertaining, interactive bird show. Port Arthur itself is a fascinating mix of restored and original buildings you can explore, and I recommend the well-narrated boat tour, including the extended trip to the Isle of the Dead. A stunning sunset Hobart lookout finished the day. My only suggestion: put a mic on the guide, as Ian had wonderful things to say.
“Great day out”
A great, well-organised day tour to Port Arthur. We started with a quick Sorell stop for lunch supplies, then the first scenic stop at Eaglehawk Neck with views of the Tasman Arch. Those of us visiting the devils were dropped off for an hour while others went ahead to Port Arthur; we then had 2.5 hours there, which was perfect for a good overview. Port Arthur was fascinating (a short boat cruise is included), then Richmond for bakery treats and a stroll past the iconic bridge, and a final lookout with views of Mt Wellington. Back in Hobart just before 6pm — a long day with so much to see. Loved it!
“Brilliant day”
Highly recommend this tour group, especially our guide Sarah. I wanted to visit Port Arthur without hiring a car and this was perfect. Sarah was brilliant from the start — relating to everyone, young and old and from every country, clear and organised about each stop and always happy. I skipped the Tasmanian Devil activity for more time at huge Port Arthur, and beforehand we did an easy walk among amazing rock formations and blowholes. We finished at a lookout over Hobart — a great way to end.

I did the Port Arthur and Tasman Peninsula tour with a stop at the Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park, plus Richmond and a beautiful brief clifftop walk at Tasman Arch. Our guide 'Cino' was fantastic and so informative — it's great when the guide clearly loves what he does and is passionate about the area.
“Port Arthur & Tasmanian Devils Tour”
An activity-filled day tour I enjoyed tremendously — Sorell, Devils Kitchen, a good bush walk, Doo Town, and the highlights of Port Arthur (a stunning former prison site), the Devils conservation park (small and uncrowded, with devils, a bird show and free-roaming kangaroos and wallabies) and Richmond (with three of Australia's oldest structures). Good job by our knowledgeable, friendly guide Chino, an excellent driver too. I liked that it was a small group with genuinely interesting stops and no souvenir-shop hard-sell.
“Beautiful city and surrounding area”
Loved Hobart — New Year's Eve was magical with fireworks and the Taste of Tasmania, with lots of fresh food and friendly vendors. The countryside is inviting, with small towns and more friendly people, and I especially enjoyed the game reserve with its native animals, including the Tasmanian Devil.
“Great day trip to Port Arthur”
I'm not normally a bus-tour traveller, but without a car this was the easiest way to see Port Arthur — and I had a lovely day. About 13 of us were picked up from our accommodation, with plenty of stops for food and water. Our guide (Theresa) was friendly and very knowledgeable. I added the Tassie Devil Park, which was great, though it meant only about 2.5 hours at Port Arthur — in hindsight I'd have skipped it for more time there. All in all a great experience, and I look forward to the company's other tours next time.
“Port Arthur and Devils Tour- well worth it”
Not normally a tour person, but this seemed the easiest way to reach Port Arthur, and adding the Tasmanian Devil Centre was excellent — small, uncrowded and informal, with great views of the animals. As well as Port Arthur and the devils, you visit lookouts, do a short clifftop bushwalk, a chocolate factory and Richmond. Really good value. Our guide Lauren was fun and friendly, and when I asked something she didn't know, she went and looked it up for me.
