Our guide Dillon, a Darwin local, made this Litchfield National Park and jumping crocodile day trip brilliant. The 430km round drive flew by thanks to his dry humour and stories, and the waterholes, views and crocs were all fascinating. He even had us try eating termites (they taste a bit like pepper) - a memorable day showing off NT nature.
We did the Litchfield National Park and Bird Wetlands day tour and it was a fantastic, one-of-a-kind day. Our guide Dylan, who'd also guided us on the crocodile cruise last year, made the bus ride so much fun with his Darwin knowledge, great stories, music and passion for the wildlife. Would definitely request him again.

A wonderful day out to Fogg Dam and Litchfield NP. Our guide Gemma was excellent - professional, pleasant and a great driver, with lots of knowledge of the area's flora, fauna, history and traditional culture. We saw some great places, never felt rushed, and had plenty of comfort and food stops. Really recommend the company and Gemma.

Autopia Tours
We had a magical experience on our day trip to Litchfield National Park with Autopia Tours on 20th May 2026.
Our guide Andrew met us on time and there were 14 passengers on the coaster bus. It was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well.
We travelled on the Stuart Highway out of Darwin over the Elizabeth River.
First stop was at Adelaide River to drop off half the passengers who were going on a crocodile jumping cruise. The rest of us continued onto Fogg Dam wetlands. It had originally been set to be rice paddy's. After some failed attempts with machinery and magpie geese eating all of the rice the project was abandoned. Now it is a haven for birdlife, native rats both fresh water and salt water crocs of which we saw a few. A couple of salties even were laying on the road sunning themselves. We saw a jabiru, and some non-native wild pigs and buffalo grazing near the wetland water, a potential meal for a croc.
A quick stop at Batchelor to grab some lunch and drinks for the journey. It is pretty much an Aboriginal community now.
Andrew took us to see the magnetic termite mounds which look like a never ending graveyard set in marshland. It's quite amazing how they all have both and are narrow unlike the other species.
Off to the Buley Rock Pools for an hour an easy walk and a refreshing swim. Several rock pools cascading down. It was like having a natural spa.
A few kilometres down the road we went to Florence Falls. It's about 350 steps down but so worth it. Alternatively you can take a 1.1km wander down. The falls did not disappoint. Just stunning. It is from the same water source as Buley Rock Pools. Incredible that in the current dry season the water all comes from sandstone which acts like a sponge. Through the wet season it soaks up all of the water. In dry season it releases it into these incredible waterfalls. There was a water monitor hanging out which was cool. This place was definitely a highlight of our trip.
From there 30km drive to Wangi Falls. They caught a couple of salt water crocs 4.5 and 4.9 metres earlier this year so it is fenced off one to keep any crocs still in there in and two keep the tourists out from swimming in the water. It is a beautiful photo opportunity all the same and it had a rainbow through the waterfall. Also a quick opportunity to grab a refreshment at the cafe.
Abouta 45 minute drive to the Litchfield National Park sign for a quick photo opportunity. There is also an enormous termite mound which is about 5 metres high.
Last stop was Berry Springs pub for a quick drink before heading back to Darwin via Palmerston.. There were many small controlled fires along the roadside which helps the bush regenerate and provides fresh, juicy grass for the agile wallabies etc.
Andrew our guide was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna . He enriched us with information about the land, it's history and how the different elements including the termites play an important part to these ecosystems. They feed many birds, echidnas, goannas etc. Andrew was a great guide and very accommodating.

We had a full day of fun and packed a lot of activities into it. The driver Tim was very knowledgeable and interesting and was very thoughtful with toilet stops/purchase of food etc.

My daughter and I had a wonderful day with Andrew as our guide and driver. We did the jumping crocodile cruise option - highly recommend - then visited three different swimming holes and waterfalls in Litchfield National Park. The best way to experience the park, with great info on Darwin, its history and nature along the way.
A big day with lots to see, informative commentary and safe driving from Andrew. Wildlife was plentiful and the swimming opportunities were great, with Wangi Falls the most accessible.

Was a lot of sitting gor long times on the bus. If you want to take photos it's impossible while the coach is moving. Fogg Dam was ok, i would do the crocodile cruise. The walk to the aboriginal drawings in Kakadu National Park was wonderful. You were on a time restraint so it felt rushed even though it was a long day.

“Wilderness experience”
A fantastic experience seeing crocodiles in their natural environment, with a very knowledgeable guide. It was fascinating to see the waterfalls at full flow after the cyclone, and Rick's commentary was great. The only downside was the cramped bus, which was a squeeze for taller passengers.

A great introduction to Litchfield, including the croc jumping cruise, which is a well-run set-up with good viewing from any seat. The waterfalls were lovely and there was a nice swim, though not all spots were open due to flooding. Our guide Bogdan was informative and kept a careful eye on everyone's safety, and we finished with a welcoming local pub. A must-do to start your Litchfield adventures.

A great day trip around Litchfield with Rick, taking in the croc jumping morning cruise, plenty of lovely waterfalls, termite mounds and lots of wildlife, from crocs and wallabies to buffalo and birds. We finished with a pub stop at Berry Springs on the way back. Thoroughly recommend it, and great to see it all in the wet.

Rick showed us around the park and really knew his stuff, taking us to all the beautiful waterfalls. The termite mounds were interesting too. I would have loved a dip in one of the falls, but just seeing them was great anyway.

An excellent tour, with Pasqal a wonderful guide full of history and information about the wildlife, geology and surrounds. He took us to amazing waterfalls and added a couple of extra ones when a swim spot was closed. The one drawback was the tired, cramped and noisy old bus, which even broke down at one point, though Pasqal got it going again; a more comfortable bus would have made a brilliant tour even better.

Our guide Darrel was very knowledgeable and engaging, sharing relevant information but also knowing when to give us some peace. We really enjoyed the swimming and learning about the NT ecosystem, and the cathedral termite mounds were amazing. The jumping crocodile cruise was good too, with our humorous and knowledgeable skipper Wookie, and we even saw a croc nest as it was the right season.
My wife and I visited Darwin for a taste of the north, and Rick's tour delivered. The bus was clean and comfortable, pickup was prompt, and Rick was knowledgeable about Darwin's history, culture and nature, keeping us entertained throughout. Fogg Dam had plenty of wild birds — wet-season crocodile risk kept us on the bus there, but we still got good photos through the clean windows. The waterfalls were spectacular for both viewing and swimming. Highly recommend this one-day trip, thanks to Rick.

Litchfield National Park made for a lovely outing with just a few of us, guided expertly by Leigh. Cooler, overcast conditions meant we saw loads of birds and wallabies, and we capped it off with a swim at the falls.

Great day trip to Litchfield. As a solo traveller, I think the Northern Territory gets missed by many. Litchfield had my favourite swim spots from my travels around Australia (maybe because the water was warmer haha) .

“Bogdan’s bus - autopia tours - a must”
We had Bogdan as our guide and he was amazing, very knowledgeable and accommodating. It was beautiful to see and swim in the water holes and to watch a wild crocodile jump for its food. If you come to Darwin this is a must, and a ten-star experience on Bogdan's bus.
Litchfield National Park made for a beautiful, easy day trip from Darwin. We started with a boat tour on the Adelaide River feeding the crocodiles, with a wedge-tailed eagle swooping in during feeding time as the highlight. Guide Tim was excellent on the park's history and the ecology of the termite mounds, and we finished with a swim at two waterfall-fed pools.
“Unreal and Spectacular Croc Cruise and Litchfield National Park”
Both the Litchfield National Park and Crocodile Cruise were terrific adventures. The Crocodile Jumping Cruise with Dylan was an absolute treat. Did not expect to be that close to the crocodiles, it was incredible. There was ample opportunities to get photos as Dylan made sure he covered all sides of the boat so that everyone got a good look at the jumping crocs. They were fantastic
Litchfield National Park - Florence Falls and Wongil Falls were just like you see in the pictures. Loved being able to swim and go under the waterfall, it was heaven. Nice work by tour guide Aaron to keep us on track and up dated with just enough commentary that we could get a bit of sleep on the bus.
“Another fantastic trip with Tim”
With such a diverse group on the tour, retirees, a young family and our large group of 14 across three generations, Tim’s knowledge of the areas we were visiting, and their significance from a cultural, geological and native wildlife perspective was outstanding.
The sites we visited were gorgeous and were very much enjoyed by the whole family - although we did underestimate the time it would take to walk back out from the Florence Falls with Granny. Tim had communicated well with the group and set a lovely tone for the day so people were very understanding and accommodating, although we felt terrible for keeping them waiting.
The waterholes were well worth the walk in and out - beautiful rock formations, crystal clear water and so refreshing on a hot day.
Charlotte guided us through a terrific day at Litchfield National Park, with incredible wildlife, huge termite mounds and three lovely waterfalls and swimming holes. She was entertaining and clearly knew the region well, from bush tucker to local history - even had us try green ants. Would definitely book again and ask for Charlotte.

“A quick visit but a good one!”
We started out at the Fogg Dam wetlands - great scenery and birdlife but despite great commentary from our guide, it would have been nice to stop for a bit at one of the viewing areas, so we could get some photos. Once we reached Litchfield, the waterholes and waterfalls were fantastic. Our thanks to our guides for the day
A fabulous day at Litchfield National Park with guide Boggie. Despite having a fractured ankle and using crutches, Boggie adjusted the plan so I could still get in a swim, which meant a lot given all the driving involved. My one suggestion would be a newer bus, as the gearbox was temperamental. Otherwise an amazing day with stunning scenery.

“Fantastic Activity Packed Day”
Fantastic whole day filled with many activities, getting back to Darwin about 6:30pm. Very informative and interesting commentaries along the way. First stop, about one hour jumping crocodile cruise. It was awesome to be able to see the crocodiles close and jumping up; guide Wookie was very entertaining! Next we looked at some fascinating termite mounds. Then we swam at Florence Falls and Buley Rock Hole. Lastly we visited beautiful Wangi Falls.
Our Litchfield National Park tour with Autopia was unforgettable. The itinerary covered stunning waterfalls, great swimming spots and beautiful scenery, all well paced. Our guide Daryl was outstanding, knowledgeable and attentive, with plenty of great stories along the way. A memorable day I'd highly recommend to anyone visiting Darwin.

We did the one-day Litchfield tour out of Darwin - best day out ever. Saw plenty of nature and wildlife, loved the swimming, and heard great stories about the area's history. Darryl was the perfect blend of professional and entertaining, recommend him 100%.

Our Litchfield National Park day out with Boggie was really interesting - we saw Fogg Dam, two different termite mound types, plus Buley Rockhole, Florence Falls and Wangi Falls, and were able to swim safely at the first two spots knowing they're free of estuarine crocodiles. A great way to fit in so much in one day.

Great day exploring Litchfield National Park and its waterfalls with guide Adrian. Only downside: my legs were too long for the bus seats.
We did the Litchfield tour with the crocodile cruise, guided by Dani. She was extremely knowledgeable and clear, and though it's a long day, the stops came often enough to keep it pleasant. When she saw part of the group couldn't manage one stop, she adapted and took us somewhere everyone could enjoy instead.
“Wonderful day at Litchfield”
We had a great day with Tim. We chose the wetlands option and he was so knowledgeable about the birds and everything we were seeing. The stops at the swimming holes were fun. My son loved the explanation on the termite mounds. We were very happy with the tour.
Our family had the best time seeing the jumping crocs at Adelaide River and swimming in the Litchfield National Park water holes with Aaron as our guide. He's full of energy and genuinely passionate about sharing Darwin and the surrounding area. Autopia is definitely the way to go in Darwin!
Aaron gave excellent service on our day trip to Litchfield. I tripped a little on the stairs down to the waterfall, and Aaron treated my arm from the first aid kit, cleaning and bandaging the cut for me.

“Fantastic Tour!”
The tour start with a crocodile jumping tour which is interesting. The crocodiles come to boat for food and jump really high. Then went swimming and spent time visiting a few waterfalls. It is relaxing although without dramatic scenery.

I absolutely enjoyed this tour with very skilled tourguide Naomi! Not only did she have a massive amount of knowledge about the area and nature, but also her communication- and people skills were outstanding (to me that’s very important in a tourguide!). There was so much to see along the road and she made sure that we got the best out of our experience as a group - including a perfect swim in the (crocfree!!!) Florence Falls! A perfect day and 100% recommended!
We joined the Litchfield National Park day trip from Darwin and had a brilliant time. We covered several different spots in the park, saw plenty of wildlife, and fit in two swims along with lunch. Our guide was lively and full of great stories and knowledge.

Nice and comprehensive tour through the Litchfield NP and very nice spots. All in all a quite enjoyable tour, thanks to our guide Rick. Just be aware that there can be a lot of people at some spots.
This Litchfield National Park day tour was fantastic, and our guide Lloyd was very informative. The bus was nicely air-conditioned, and we stopped at several sites including Wangi Falls, where you could swim right up to the falls, and the cool, refreshing Buley Rock pools. Good small group size, and the termite mounds were impressive too.
Lloyd made our time in Darwin really memorable. His deep knowledge of Litchfield National Park and the surrounding area gave us a better appreciation of what we saw.

The tour started with a convenient pick-up, easily arranged. It began with a jumping crocodile cruise and was meant to continue to Litchfield, but the road was blocked by a bad accident. Our local guide simply rearranged the whole day and we still had a fantastic time. The commentary was excellent, she had an answer to every question, we saw things we'd never have found, and she was super friendly.

Litchfield and Wangi Falls had spectacular scenery, and the Buley Pools were great fun. I'd definitely recommend fitting these into any trip to Darwin.

Very well run and knowledgeable lo al guide. The jumping croc tour was great. We stopped in 3 different locations in Lichfield, swam in 2 of them, plus the termite mounds. Its a full day but most enjoyable. Tour size was ot too big.
Lloyd gave us a wonderful introduction to Northern Territory wildlife on the Litchfield Tour, with deep knowledge of First Nations hunting and gathering practices. He explained the waterfalls, birdlife, crocodiles and plants really well.
Such a memorable, fun day with our guide and driver Tim, who was both knowledgeable and professional. We took in stunning scenery, learned plenty about the country's history, and swam in three different waterfall-fed rock pools. Litchfield National Park was magical with Autopia.
Our guide Ethan was excellent, especially considering he had to handle a medical issue with an older passenger plus a difficult, aggressive tourist on the same trip. The waterfalls were an absolute must-see. Florence Falls was physically tough for me — I wish I'd taken the longer, easier track — but I was glad I did it in the end.

“Do the croc cruise!!”
A fantastic day! We were picked up from our accomodation on time. Our guide for the day Danny was an absolute legend! Great communication and organisation, highly knowledgeable, safe driver and took us to a cracking waterhole for a swim when the regular one was unavailable for swimming due to crocs. Highly recommend doing the croc cruise. It was so cool!
“Look at other tour companies...”
The experience itself was amazing but we would choose a different tour company if we had our time again.
The bus seats were really uncomfortable with our knees pushed up against the seats in front of ours. The rear of the bus had very limited suspension and the driver Carlos was speeding so we were bounced around a lot. Carlos was so focused on driving fast that he missed our turn-off a couple of times.
To top it all off, we were left behind at the croc cruise and had to contact their head office to phone them to come back and get us, as they didn't even realise that they were two customers short. It was lucky we were left behind where we still had phone reception - had it happened at Litchfield Park we would have been stranded for goodness knows how long.
The croc cruise was amazing though, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We can't remember their names but very knowledgeable and entertaining. We highly recommend including the croc cruise in your tour!

I absolutely loved this tour of Litchfield National Park + Fogg Dam. The waterfalls, and their surroundings are beautiful and full of wildlife and the Fogg Dam is very impressive.
The tour guide, Leigh, was very knowledgeable and provided all types of information helping the group geting to know not only the park but also Darwins history and nature.

Litchfield was amazing. Spectacular waterfalls and beautiful swimming spots. Well worth the day trip. Croc cruise was disappointing. $50 to see 2 crocs! If you want to see Crocs up close I recommend Croc Cove. Fantastic!

“Terrific tour with Dani”
A day trip to some amazing places, made extraordinary by Dani. She's a true local. We not only got amazing detail about the places we visited, plants, animals and insects etc., We also got insights about work in NT. Everything from how to harvest eggs from salties (carefully), how to sort crocodiles by size (treat the cuts and bites you get with croc blood). Plus so many stories from Cyclone Tracy to Bob Hawke at Humpty Doo. Thoroughly recommended!

Great tour. Andrea was an excellent guide telling us lots of facts about the history and the wildlife of the area with an enthusiasm that is infectious. It made the drive very enjoyable particularly as a solo traveller. I very much enjoyed bird spotting at fogg dam and swimming at the two water holes they were absolutely beautiful (worth it despite the crowds) . Lunch not supplied but the lunch stop sells great sandwiches. Definitely recommend this tour. It's a bit rushed in that you don't get to stay in any one place for long but that's inevitable on a tour and I felt like we got to see all the highlights so maybe one day I can go back and enjoy my favourite spots. I also might not have felt safe to swim without going on a tour and having the knowledge and information of the guide telling me it's safe.

We got so many infomations and we had just a perfect tour. Thank you again so much! Very well run tour. Lee the guide did a great job, natural story teller and made the road trips enjoyable. He’s a wealth of info. Safe driver, read the group well. Highly recommended. Croc jumping is a bit dependent on how the crocs feel that day but enjoyable if never seen them in natural habitat. I suggest actually swimming to kill time at the falls otherwise it’s hanging around for about an hour and can get tiring if warm day.

“Litchfield & Fogg Dam experience”
We travelled with Tim for this excursion. Tim was very well versed with a great knowledge of the various sites that we visited or drove by and was very much involved with us to make it a totally awesome adventure. As well, his mix of music and stories made the day fly by, whilst we were travelling between locations. With Tim, we had a seven star tour.
“Relaxed and engaging trip”
A relaxed, engaging and personal trip. Despite being wet season the tour was full with a big mix of people, 20 in total.
We knew we wouldn’t be able to swim due to heavy rainfall but we did benefit from the waterfalls being in full force and the area being very green. We had limited views on one stop because of the conditions so Tim put an extra waterfall stop in.
Tim was really informative and is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the area, and Australia.
There were plenty of toilets stops and no long stints on the bus. The bus was comfortable and air conditioned. Ice box provided to put lunch in although the first stop was a nice cafe which sold lovely looking rolls and good coffee.
“Great day out”
As we were travelling in the wet season it meant that swimming in the usual spots was not allowed due to the pure force of the water. However, this also meant the waterfalls were spectacular. We also did the Croc cruise which was fascinating and just a little bit thrilling to be so close to these awesome predators. Our guide Tim was great, we had many stops and git to get a bit of a feel for tha national park and aboriginal culture. His play list on the bus was appropriate, informative and sometimes funny. We had a couple a good walks and had a few obsticals to deal with that day between, the weather, the wildlife and the flooding but the group was great and we all had a great day.
“Best tour ever! ”
Accomplishing the entire itinerary with another stellar guide (Norm, from Offroad Dreaming) who drove safely, played music on the bus to match the region, told stories and jokes, and exhibited thorough knowledge of the area. We were also impressed with the selection, freshness, and preparation of the "picnic lunch." Our experience on other tours in other countries led us to expect maybe a sandwich, a piece of fruit, a soda, and some chips. But we got spring greens, freshly sliced avocado, tomato, and onion for us to build a wrap The bus snacks were also above par - chocolate nut bars, Anzac cookies, and fresh apples.
Highlights: Termite mounds, all the waterfalls, and especially the interpretive cruise on the Adelaide River with Pat.
“The day trip to Lichfield was a real winner”
The day trip to Lichfield was a real winner. The two driver / guides (girl in the morning and guy in the afternoon) were both great people. I was planning on spending some time in June with the family exploring a bit further but have decided that I'd rather see Lichfield, Kakadu etc in the wet season and will come back to you guys as most other companies seemed to be shut during the Wet.
