Itinerary
Day 1: Port Arthur & Tasmanian Devils
Departs: Hobart 7:30am
Returns: Hobart 6:00pm
Overnight: Hobart (accommodation by own arrangement)
We make an early start from Hobart and drive to the stunning Tasman Peninsula, home to Australia's highest sea cliffs. Enjoy panoramic views from Pirates Bay Lookout, then pass through Eaglehawk Neck and 'The Dogline' as your guides share stories of the area. We begin one of Tasmania's Great Short Walks — a spectacular 45-minute, easy clifftop track along Waterfall Bay, concluding at the remarkable Tasman Arch and Devil's Kitchen.
Next is the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, arriving in time for a Tasmanian Devil feeding — watch the snarling, fighting spectacle, hand-feed the wallabies, and walk among the local flora and fauna.
Continuing on, we arrive at the Port Arthur Historic Site. Entry includes a complimentary Harbour Cruise around the Isle of the Dead, 'The Port Arthur Experience' podcast, and guided site talks. With around 2.5 hours here, discover the grim history of the early Australian penal system in this World Heritage open-air museum.
On the return, we travel via the historic township of Richmond, with time to meander the streets and walk across Australia's oldest bridge still in use. We return to Hobart around 6:00pm.
Day 2: Hobart to Launceston via Wineglass Bay & Freycinet National Park

Returns: Launceston 6:00pm
Overnight: Launceston (accommodation by own arrangement)
We depart Hobart heading east, then follow the coast north through Orford and Swansea to Freycinet National Park — one of Tasmania's first national parks, where pink granite mountains form the backdrop for secluded bays, pristine waters and white beaches.
We walk as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout (an easy but uphill walk of around 1.5 hours), where your guide helps with photos and outlines your walking options. Keen walkers can continue down to Wineglass Bay Beach (a 2.5-hour return walk) to swim, relax or eat lunch on the white sands. Prefer a shorter option? Explore other areas of Freycinet — Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay and Cape Tourville Lighthouse.
We regroup for the return journey, with a final stop at the stunning Devil's Corner Winery (wine tasting, wood-fired pizza, fresh seafood and ice creams available at your own expense), arriving in Launceston around 6:00pm.
Day 3: Cradle Mountain World Heritage Area
Departs: Launceston 7:30am
Returns: Launceston 6:00pm
After departing Launceston, enjoy a short stop in Sheffield — the Town of Murals, Tasmania's own outdoor art gallery with over 100 paintings depicting the history of the Cradle Mountain region.
Arriving in Cradle Mountain National Park, we aim for 4–5 hours on the trails. We begin with the Enchanted Walk, an easy 20-minute circuit following Pencil Pine Creek. The main hike begins from Dove Lake with two options: the iconic Dove Lake Circuit (6 km, easy, 2–3 hours) around the lake beneath Cradle Mountain, or the climb to Marion's Lookout (about 4 km, medium grade) at 1,200 m for breathtaking 360° views. Stop for lunch, watch the famous friendly Cradle wombats, and visit Weindorfer's Chalet and the ancient King Billy pines.
On the return to Launceston, we refuel at the Van Diemen's Land Ice Creamery and Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, arriving around 6:00pm to conclude your Big 3 Adventure!

Meals aren't provided, but there are plenty of opportunities to stop for lunch and snacks to suit your taste and budget, or bring your own.
Book your own accommodation to suit your budget and style. We pick up and drop off at select Hobart / Launceston central-city hotels only; the nearest location to your accommodation will be allocated. Please ensure you can load and unload your own luggage on Day 2.

“Enchanting”
Graham the guide was always helping everyone be informed and enjoy their hike. It was a wet grey day but it didn’t matter it was a delight to be there. The landscape is enchanting, other worldly. I half expected a goblin to jump out from behind a lichen covered tree in the enchanted forest.

We just finished the Big 3 and wow it was really amazing how much you see in those short 3 days. We had 3 tour guides for the trip one for each day but they were all unique and equally great tour guides (Ian, Nick and Damian) they all provided a lot of information on many locations and also answered any questions asked with insightful knowledge of the area. Awesome tour I'll be recommending it to my family. ❤️
A great way to experience Tasmania if you don't have a car. You join a different tour each day, but everything is organised seamlessly. Highly recommend for seeing the best of the island in three days.

Second time with Under Down Under Tour and did not regret doing this again. In fact, it exceeded my expectations in many ways this time around. Kudos to my guide, Tim for making the visits, walks and experiences come alive! He is amazingly attuned to nature and could point out all the cute Tassie animals and native plants. He goes above and beyond for everyone- helping the weaker ones with their bags, extra TLC for elderlies, unlimited patience in answering questions and even went the extra mile to get a bday cake. One of the most awesome guide I have met. Tim has a heart for everyone. Under Down Under also organises its programme, pace and diversity of the tour really well. It showed us the beauty of Tassie, both the Tasmanians and the beautiful island!

Had a fantastic tour of Tassie with Under Down Under. Covered so much and saw some spectacular sites we would not have been able to get round or see alone. Great options for varying abilities and freedom to choose what to do. Really lovely group of people, and enough space on the bus (16 of us in total I think). “An amazing tour - not to be missed!!”
This tour did everything we wanted and more — well organised and excellent value. The early departures and long days let you see so much: historic Port Arthur, the special Unzoo where animals roam naturally, stunning clifftop walks, Richmond and the Hobart lookout on day one; the climb to the Wineglass Bay lookout and lunch at Honeymoon Bay on day two; and Cradle Mountain — a highlight of our whole Australia trip — on day three, with short walks and the Dove Lake hike full of wildlife. Excellent guides (Dan and Rod), comfortable air-conditioned buses, and a baggage trailer so no luggage limits. Ticks all the boxes, especially if you're short on time. Highly recommended.
“Active Tour in Scenic Destinations”
Very good value — several stops each day with all entry fees included, prompt pick-up and drop-off, and friendly, knowledgeable, efficient guides. As three seniors, we appreciated how flexible each guide was about doing as much or as little as we wanted, and we still got beautiful photos even when we skipped a walk. Wear sensible shoes and bring a hat, water, sunscreen and a light jacket.

“Big 3 tour”
I did the Big 3 from Hobart to Launceston — a good tour I'd recommend for anyone who doesn't want to drive; you just sit in the van and the guides take you everywhere. I liked being given the option of different hikes individually rather than all doing the same thing. All the guides were good, and I particularly liked Connor, who had lots of Tasmanian stories to share on the drives.
“Brilliant Big 3!”
A fantastic way to cover lots of Tasmanian highlights and combine visiting both Hobart and Launceston. We saw and did so much — stunning scenery, fascinating history and close-up native wildlife — with plenty of walking but always hard, medium and easy options (with good guidance) at places like Cradle Mountain. My favourites were feeding roos and wallabies at the Unzoo and visiting Port Arthur. Our guides — Clint, Dan, Graeme and Steve — worked hard combining commentary with lots of driving to make sure we got the best out of the tour. Thank you all!
“Great itinerary and great guide Greyam”
We took this tour to cover Tasmania's best destinations in three days, and it did just that. Very well planned, and our Launceston guide Greyam was a star — explaining everything well, answering all questions and keeping time so we did everything we wanted. He kept it flexible, with 2-3 options at each place depending on fitness (there can be a fair bit of hiking). A wonderful experience — highly recommend, especially if you like outdoor activities.

Generally a very good tour that crams a lot into each day for good value, giving a good look at a lot of Tasmania without too much time on the bus. There's some steering toward specific businesses for coffee, food and souvenirs, but they're generally good shops. A couple of listed items are slightly overrated (the 'wine tasting' is really a quick winery stop where you can try something if you like). Our four guides over three days were generally personable and knowledgeable, and the more active days had options for different fitness levels. Overall I'd recommend it as good value.

With one week in Tasmania, this three-day tour covered all the main highlights and more — excellent value, fantastic guides, a small group of 12, great commentary and well looked after. We didn't want the stress of hiring a car, and you learn so much on a tour. Our three guides — Julian, Andy and Graeme — were each uniquely great and made it fun and informative (Graeme is especially passionate about his hometown and an asset to the company).
