Itinerary
We depart Hobart heading east, then follow the coast north through the seaside towns of Orford and Swansea to Freycinet National Park — one of Tasmania's first national parks, where pink granite mountains form the backdrop for secluded bays, pristine waters, white beaches, wildlife and walking trails.
We walk as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout — a moderate uphill walk of around 45 minutes (1.3 km up, then down), one of Tasmania's Great Short Walks — for that world-famous view.
Keen walkers can continue down to Wineglass Bay Beach (a 2.5-hour return walk) to swim, relax, eat lunch or wander the white sands. Prefer a shorter option? Explore other areas of Freycinet with your guide — Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay and Cape Tourville Lighthouse.
We regroup for the return journey, with a final stop at the stunning Devil's Corner Winery (wine tasting, wood-fired pizza, fresh seafood, oysters and ice creams available at your own expense), then on to Launceston, arriving around 6:00pm.
Please travel with one suitcase/travel pack per person plus a day pack; let our team know in advance if you have excess luggage. We pick up and drop off door-to-door from an extensive range of hotels; if your accommodation isn't on our list, you'll be collected in Hobart and dropped at a central location in Launceston.

“Would highly recommend”
I booked the rock to rock tour and it was incredible. Our tour guide Nat was just amazing, so knowledgeable and everything was organised so well. She worked so hard through out the trip to ensure we were on time and everything was smooth. Sara was also such a vibe, extremely knowledgeable as well and brought the laughs and great tunes. The tour in itself was everything I thought it would be and more! We had enough time at every place, the food was delicious and catered so well to me being a vegetarian, even being conscious about contamination with meat. The sleeping arrangements in the swags was one of the highlights and the company was also cautious about hygiene. Everything was so well organised and it’s such a great experience, if you are thinking about booking with Mulgas just book it, one of the best things I’ve ever done!

Lucas was great. Informative and mostly went at a pace. I could keep up with. Wild life preserve was fascinating. Very cold on top of Mount Wellington, but worth a visit!

So, a long day, but worth it for the views. Some overseas visitors were more interested in the wildlife, wombats, echidnas, roos / wallabies / paddymelons, they got to see the lot.

The Tahune Airwalk is easy for most people to do. I enjoyed doing the Franklin River walk (50min)but wish I walked faster to fit in the Huon Pine 20minute walk. I heard that was amazing!

“Maria island day trip”
An active day walking over 12km to view the fossil beds, Darlington convict station/settlement and the coloured cliffs. The bonus was our guide had a great knowledge of the island and native flora and fauna and the best places to locate these, especially on the windy day we experienced. Lucky enough to sight a critically endangered swift parrot drinking and bathing in a creek. Lots of wombats, Bennet's wallabies and Paddymelons to top it off. Probably one of the best day trips I’ve been on.

I had a lovely time on this tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and happy to answer all of our questions. The bushwalk took us through some amazing scenery, and we saw quite a few pademelons and a number of different bird species. I would definitely recommend hiking boots and not runners though. We arrived at the wildlife sanctuary in time to join a tour to hear about native animals, then we were let loose to hand feed kangaroos (just don't try to feed the geese). We finished on kunanyi, which was cold and windy - definitely rug up - and had a fantastic view. Definitely recommend this tour!

Be prepared for a long winding drive. You need to be aware and take care as there are logging trucks using the road. There also isn’t any wifi service.
The area had a significant bushfire in 2019 so be prepared for fire damage which has impacted the vegetation.
The entrance fee is about $30 per person for unlimited access to the walks and small info centre. The staff were very helpful and we were able to access the buggy for a person with less mobility. The airwalk was very good and we enjoyed the cantilever.
Food was good with some reasonable choices and prices were ok.

I had an amazing time on the Maria Island tour, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area! Our guide, Carl, was fantastic and truly made the experience unforgettable. The route itself offered brilliant views, and we even had the chance to identify several species of animals, which was such a rewarding part of the tour.
Carl’s knowledge about the island’s history was impressive. He shared so many fascinating facts about the island, and I especially loved learning fun tidbits about specific plants and animals. His expertise added so much depth to the tour, and it really enhanced our experience.
The whole trip was perfectly organized. It was a full-day tour, but it never felt too long. The two routes were a comfortable length, and we got to experience a lot without feeling rushed. The well-planned itinerary allowed us to enjoy both the stunning landscapes and the wildlife, making the day feel both relaxing and enriching.
Overall, this tour was an absolute highlight of my trip, and I can’t imagine having the same experience if we had explored the island on our own. Carl’s guidance made everything so much more inform

Had a great day touring the Tasman Peninsula guided by Trevor who regaled us with interesting facts of history and local culture. Loved the cliff walk seeing Devils Kitchen and Tasman Arch. Spectacular scenery.
Visit to Port Arthur and seeing Tassie Devils in action was great. A full day but would recommend.

“Reasonable hiking and great animal spotting”
We caught the 830am and 230pm ferry and did two easy hiking trails on the island. Enough for wild animal spotting like pademelon, wombat, kangaroo and kookaburra. Highly recommend if you are an animal lover

A most enjoyable day out from Hobart, with a visit to the Tahune Airwalk with it's impressive views and lovely walk through the forest and over the suspension bridges. Then on to Hastings Cave with it's amazing formations and informative guided tour. (There was an option to swim in the thermal pool which I didn't bother with... full of wriggling children on school holiday!... although the short walk near the pool was very pleasant). Guide Nick was great company, knowledgeable, full of entertaining stories and interesting information. We stopped at a farm-gate stall on the way home and I got some of the most delicious cherries I have ever tasted!

We bought our Mt. Field & Bonorong Wildlife Park Adventure excursion through “Shore Excursion Groups” for our cruise ship’s stop in Hobart, TAS. The instructions provided were excellent and got us to the visitor center where a nice man could tell we were looking for our group and checked our name off his list. This was Ben, our phenomenal tour guide. A Sydney transplant to Tasmania, Ben is a font of knowledge, about geology, culture, flora, and fauna from Australia and the state of Tasmania. He is also a very kind and humorous man who kept us engaged and laughing for the entire day-long tour. We greatly enjoyed the naturewalk through Mt Field park, culminating in a stunning view of the falls. The picnic lunch we picked up from a quaint bakery was excellent. And the Bonorong wildlife sanctuary was really about rehabilitation and focused on native wildlife- a really wonderful thing to see especially since we are not big fans of zoos - this was not a zoo! Overall, we had a truly lovely day and Ben was a huge part of that. Thank you Tours Tasmania!!

Our very friendly and knowledgeable guide Luka met us at the meeting place to begin our Bruny Island Walking and Tasting Tour.
Luca was knowledgeable along the track to explain the flora and fauna aspects which was great and the pace moved at a speed relevant to the group.
The inclusions of the Natural Bridge, Two Tree Point, Coal Mining in Adventure Bay were well balanced with a visit to Bruny Island honey, Get Shucked Oysters and the Bruny Island Beer and Cheese Factory, oh and of course Bruny Island Chocolates to stack up on freckles for the grandkids, made for a well balanced tour.
There were good choices for lunch options!
As it’s one of the busier times of year Get Shucked and the Bruny Island Beer and Cheese Factory couldn’t tantalise our taste buds as it was too busy for the time allocation but it didn’t detract from the experience as there was plenty to see at both venues to get a feel for what processes on there.
We highly recommend this tour to others.

Fantastic day visiting 2 amazing places of natural beauty. Not for the faint hearted if you don’t like steps, as there are 400 of them, but well worth the effort. Lucas was a brilliant guide, very friendly, enthusiastic and full of knowledge about the areas, the wildlife, the plants and trees. The wildlife sanctuary was good too, and we got to see the Tasmanian devils. If I had the time I would do the whole trip again.

He took us to all the usual spots and kept searching, and right at the end of the day—boom! We found a mum and her little bub. I honestly couldn’t believe it. Best. Day. Ever.

I had the pleasure of joining a tour guided by Nathan at the Tahune Airwalk and Hastings Caves, and it was nothing short of amazing! Nathan was incredibly nice, accommodating, and made a genuine effort to remember everyone’s names, which added such a personal touch.
The Tahune Airwalk was breathtaking, the swinging bridge was thrilling, and the Hastings Caves were absolutely magnificent. To top it all off, I enjoyed the best-tasting apple crumble of my life—it was a real treat!
This experience made my birthday truly memorable, and I can’t recommend this tour enough.
“What a great thing to do in southern Tassie.”
It’s a drive, but a beautiful one. The road is sealed all the way and it’s in good condition. The staff were friendly and the air walk was amazing. We also did the eagle hang life/zip line. Well worth it. The long loop traversed 2 swing bridges and was an easy 1 hour walk.

Great tour. The Mt Field hike is about 3 hours long and has a lot of stairs in two locations. You can leave after the first couple of falls and go back to the visitor center, but at that point, we were 1/3 way through the loop and majority of the group wanted to continue. Tour guide went on full loop with us so whole group went. Great seeing it all but was too much walking for a couple of people in our group. The tour guide was fabulous and pointed out many interesting things on our hike. Fun time at the wildlife center and beautiful views from Mt. Wellington.

Absolutely phenomenal tour! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, and was more than willing to answer the group's questions. A word of warning - there are over 400 stairs to complete the full loop to see all of the falls, so be cautious of your fitness level before booking - though I will say it is definitely worth the effort! The Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary was a great experience, seeing the Tassie Devils up close is a must do, even as an Aussie. And of course kunanyi/Mt Wellington was absolutely beautiful! We were lucky to go on a clear day and the view across Hobart and the surrounding islands was incredible - photos really don't do it justice. It was quite windy, so definitely pack a jacket and a hat with a strap. A great day out, and a wonderful way to see some of the many natural highlights of Hobart.

Enjoy the Mt. Field visit very much despite a bit of challenges in the walking trail such as climbing steps. But the view was special. Enjoy the Mt. Wellington visit with breath taking view on top. The Tassie devil visit, we got to see the little fellow, she was special and cute.

“Surpassed expectations - Breathtaking scenery, adorable animals ”
Just back from this tour and still buzzing. Our guide Karl was absolutely brilliant. He was so informative with historical and nature information, but equally patient when our small group stopped to oooh and aaah and take many photos of passing animals. We never felt rushed and our walking pace was perfect for me, as someone who enjoys a long walk, but doesn’t have the stamina for a hike.
The Fossil Cliffs were fascinating and the cliff top views were spectacular, but the Painted Cliffs left me absolutely speechless with their unique and beautiful formation.
Then there were the animals, and my new favourite animals are definitely wombats. We saw both dark and blond, and the highlight was seeing a female carrying her joey in her rear pouch (see photo - look at her behind!). Wallabies were also abundant, some too with joeys and the cuteness factor was over the top! In addition we saw rock pool marine life and some interesting sea birds, as well as Cape Barren geese.
This day out ticked so many boxes. Karl made it fun and entertaining too. If you haven’t already booked this trip, I can’t recommend it highly enough. We booked through Viator and the whole day was absolutely faultless. Karl… if you’re reading this review… thank you!

“Brilliant flora and fauna”
The highlight for me was the Mt Field walks among tall swamp eucalyptus and rain forest. Trevor was a terrific guide, highly knowledgeable and full of fascinating info. The forest and waterfalls were beautiful. I enjoyed Bonorong too, though maybe we needed a bit more time there to see all the animals. Mt Wellington was icy cold. The trip in the van was comfortable and the three components made up a nature-based trip that I would absolutely recommend.

“Brilliant flora and fauna”
The highlight for me was the Mt Field walks among tall swamp eucalyptus and rain forest. Trevor was a terrific guide, highly knowledgeable and full of fascinating info. The forest and waterfalls were beautiful. I enjoyed Bonorong too, though maybe we needed a bit more time there to see all the animals. Mt Wellington was icy cold. The trip in the van was comfortable and the three components made up a nature-based trip that I would absolutely recommend.

The tour guide, Ben, was very informative and enthusiastic and always looked out for everyone in the group! We went on a beautiful walk around mount field (about 10k but with lots of breaks) easy track with lots of scenery. About 200 stairs at the end though, just to be warned. Animal sanctuary and mount wellington also a great experience! Would deffo recommend

Despite a light drizzle we decided to give the airwalk a go and what a great decision it was. There’s a walk for everyone here and we did them all. Included in your entry ticket is a guided walk to introduce you to the forest and Bill, our tour guide was brilliant; knowledgeable, funny and clearly totally engaged in the environment he kept us interested for an hour and we walked away just that little bit more knowledgeable! Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience the temperate rainforest.
The airwalk was surprisingly not scary and gives a great perspective on the canopy!

“Devils, rainforests and mountain peaks”
We had to the best tour of Hobart with Ian. We went to really great places like the animal sanctuary and Mount Field. I will say that Mount Field wore me down but we did get to see quite a few padymelons having breakfast which was so cool!!!!
Ian was great. He was engaging, enthusiastic and plays the BEST music!
This tour was the first we took on our trip to Australia and we commented on each tour after how much better it would be with Ian navigating.
“A brilliant day out.”
The early convict history of the island was the reason for our visit but the island has so much more to offer its visitors. The landscapes are amazing, such rugged coastlines and the wildlife on it is wonderful. We were fortunate enough to see many wombats (several with their young) as well as bandicoots, Cape Barren geese and a variety of birds. Our guide Heather was enthusiastic and passionate about the island and its environment which made the tour all the more enjoyable. It was not too strenuous to walk and the timing of the tour was just right for a day out from Hobart. Thank you Heather and Tours Tasmania we had a brilliant day out.

My father and I enjoyed the 3 Day Tasmanian highlights Tour – Hobart, Port Arthur and Bruny Island. The tour was a great mix of history, food and gifts, sights and scenery, and nature and wildlife all fit within 3 days. Good weather allowed us to go to visit all planned sights such as Mount Wellington and we were lucky to see a white wallaby in Bruny Island and Tasmanian devils in Bonorong wildlife sanctuary. We found the tour very comfortable, almost all stops had toilet access, good local food options (we didn’t need to pack lunch) and could cater for people with different fitness levels. The tour is convenient with pick ups and drop offs at your hotel. Rob, Anni and Bunzy, our driver tour guides were warm and friendly, very informative, entertaining and organised, making sure the trips go smoothly. The tour was as described. They let you know extra costs upfront which are worth it. We found the 3 day tour was great value and a perfect way to get to know Hobart and surrounds, particularly on a short trip. Our luggage is full local food and gifts to enjoy Tasmania a bit longer when we get home. If only we could take the oysters with us! Highly recommend!

Don't normally write reviews but I highly reccommend Tassie Tours! We were in Hobart for a short break and didn't have a car so were relying on tours. We went on the Port Arthur tour and loved it so much we booked the Bruny Island tour when we got back. Small-ish groups so feels very personal, guides were very knowledgeable - I didn't catch their names but they were both locals who knew of secret spots and took us off the beaten path. Weather slightly spoiled Port Arthur but can't be blamed on them!

There was a great mix of activities from checking out the honey, chocolate and cheese stores to exploring The Neck, Two Trees beach and a mini hike through Marvista. “Felt like a race on time”
Wet and cold. Can't control weather. But it was a hike. Tour guide man said it takes 40min to an hour for the dove circuit... unless your as fit as an Olympic athlete, you can complete in 2hours if you keep going fast and not stop. Sad I couldn't enjoy it.

An amazing experience all round! We were the only couple on the tour and despite the company likely losing money by only taking us around they still did and treated us like a full group. Trevor (I hope I’m remembering his name correctly) our tour guide, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and a safe driver. We ended up leaving knowing a lot more about Tasmania’s native flora, caves, and hot springs and had many awesome photos as memories. I can definitely recommend this to others who are on the fence about going, and am grateful to Tours Tasmania for such a great day out.

“Totally Worth the Money”
This was an excellent full day tour of three great events. It's a fairly long drive to the Huon Valley through Kingston but very lovely, lots to see. Keep in mind that the Skywalk is about a 2 hour walk on this tour and that there is a lot of steps. You need to be fairly fit and a regular walker. It was a brisk walk but you don't have to do all of it , you could sit in the cozy kiosk and enjoy bush views or just do a short walk and go up to the canterlever part. There are also two suspension bridges as well and the skywalk is very high up. All very safe.
The thermal pool is a fun swim. 28 degrees, so warm in but cold underfoot. Very hot showers when changing and open fires for warming up, great fun. Be brave!
The Caves are close by and magnificent. Lots of steps but absolutely worth the trip. Very safe and talented tour guide.
A really fun active day, we'll worth the money. Take a packed lunch and plenty of nibbles

I joined this tour at the last minute and was not disappointed. I really liked that there were several options of walks to take. Being a small group meant we could pick and chose a bit what we wanted to do. It was also really handy for me that I was able to be picked up and dropped at my accommodation
“Excellent day trip”
An excellent day trip from Hobart. The driver was very informative throughout and the tour covered all of the key sights Bruny Island as well as some local "product shop visits". There are amazing beaches and views on the Island and also wildlife - mainly wallabies and the albino wallaby. We did think that the tastings at the "product shop visits" could have been better organised as some the tastings (chocolate shop and cheese shop_ were nil or very limited / the shop owners just seemed to expect tourists to buy.

What an amazing day! I booked the day tour to Bruny island. Our guide Bunzy knew everything, and from the start had a great interaction with everyone who joined the tour. He definitely made the tour more exciting and interesting. Although the price looks a bit expensive, it gives you a full day of great experiences and education about as well Bruny island as Tasmania. I recommend this to everyone!

I can honestly say that this trip was fantastic. Our drivers,Trevor and Graeme, were exceptional. They were fun and were able to answer all our (my?!!) questions.
Without Trevor’s help, I would not have completed the walk to Wineglass Bay lookout without possibly holding the group back. It was harder than I thought and with age and resulting lower fitness not on my side, it was a struggle. Without a rail I felt unsteady and I don’t normally have trouble with tour outings. Trevor was simply incredible. He stayed with me all the way to make sure I made it. His knowledge was awesome in everything Tasmanian (and lots of topics not) and he made it the most wonderful day. If older, please be aware it is not an easy walk- harder than I thought.
The bakery staff where we stopped to buy our lunch were wonderful but there was not a lot there for vegan or vegetarian. However, the staff quickly made me a salad sandwich that was most appreciated. If concerned, better to take your own. Plenty of beautiful sight seeing at bathroom stops as well.
I would definitely recommend this trip, especially with these fantastic guides.

This is such a fantastic place to visit. It is so well worth the drive. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. I was unable to walk the 100 steps to the entrance and then 70 steps back. So, one of the staff drove me to the entrance on the buggy. The walk was so wonderful, and it is elevated so high from the ground. The different vantage points are so great, and they offer unforgettable panoramic views. Well worth the entrance fee. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

My partner and I have been to a lot of caves in our time and we rate this one quite highly with well formed stalactites and some stalagmites. Yes this is a long trip from Hobart but is broken up with the sky walk and a lunch stop before the caves. Our guide was very informative and friendly. I rate this as a must do if you like caves.

Great tour! David our tour guide was super friendly, extremely knowledgeable and comedic too.
My friend and I chose to do the full walk/hike to the viewing platform of wineglass bay, and continued the hike to wineglass bay beach and went for a swim. Weather was perfect, a little overcast but quite nice when you’re hiking. On the way back we stopped at Devils Corner Winery and got Van Diemens land Icecream (highly recommend!) and some others on our tour bus got some oysters and pizzas which they said was amazing.
Highly recommend the tour, especially if you’re unsure of what to do in Tassie or just looking for something to do outdoors. It’s a great experience for all ages.

“A fantastic dayout to one of the most pristine place in Tas”
Although the island itself does not belong to one of famous attractions in Tas, it definitely worth a visit. It is relatively untouched and a natural, The scenery it offered is unparallel. Our tour guide, Clinton is great at telling stories and offerinng insights regarding the wildlife living on the island--there were so many, everywhere. We set off nice and early and spent ~6 hours on the island, but time passed by so quickly becauss it was so fun. I don't consider myself as a "fit" person, but the walking distance was not an issue at all. There was no stairs, no steep slopes and very leisurely paced. You get to sit down and enjoy a lunch with no rush. We returned to the hobart CBD before 5pm.

“Wombats in the Wild - Maria Island”
Seeing wombats grazing on the island and sleeping in disused machinery in an old shed were the highlights of this trip. Our guide, Nick, suggested that we might see some Pademelons in a particular area, and sure enough under the trees we saw several adults and some infants too.

A miserable wet day but we thoroughly enjoyed this tour and the falls were incredible. Very informative tour and really enjoyed the sanctuary, sadly we couldn't get to the top of Mt Wellington because the road was closed due to snow.
“Quite a slow drive there but we’ll worth it”
A long slow windy drive to these Tehune Adventures. But very impressive. We did the Airwalk, the Suspension Bridges walk, and the delightful Huon Pines walk. The giant stringybark Eucalyptus trees are amazing. The Huon Pine walk with the Tress Ferns and Man Ferns was great. The only problem was we arrived at 9 am and the place was inaccessible and not opened till 10 am - we can’t recall their website saying so. Highly recommended.

A 35 minute drive inland from Geeveston brings you to the Tahune Air Walk and other adventures. We started with the Airwalk that takes you across the treetops ending with a Cantilever hanging out towards the Huon River for a lovely view, even on a rainy day and with the cantilever moving it's well worth a visit. Can also recommend the Swinging Bridges Walk and Huon Pine Walk.

This tour was awesome. Trevor the tour guide is an absolute legend. He is witty, knowledgeable, passionate and intelligent. His love for Tasmania is so evident in the way he talks about it. He has an incredible understanding of the natural environment, imparting his wisdom about flora and fauna. He is also well versed in environmental advancements taking place in Tasmania. He incorporated the history into the tour, acknowledging the atrocities like the killing of the aboriginal people when settlers arrived. He incorporated the traditional names of Hobart/Nipaluna and Mt Wellington/kunanyi. Trevor made this tour so special and I hope you have the pleasure of touring with him too.
My only feedback is - don't expect a 3 day tour with a group who you would get to know. Only a few of us did all 3 days, others were doing individual days of the tour - so maybe not so good if you're solo traveling and looking to make connections.

Small groups, great guide/driver, lovely day out walking in nature, crossing high bridges and rivers. Hastings cave guide very knowledgeable and great to see so many different formations. A nice treat at end, passing by to get apples from a local farm (bring some coins). Thank you!

An enjoyable trip with David as our guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable and experience.. Lovely walks in Mount Field. Russell Falls was beautiful. We didn't get to Lake Dobson. Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary was interesting and you get to see cute wombats, Tasmanian devils and feed kangaroos.
It was misty at the summit of Mount Wellington and we missed the panoramic view of Hobart. But we did stop at a lower level for photos.

3 short walks with excellent friendly guide explaining different forest vegetation as you travel up Mt Fielding.Take your warm gear for Mt Wellington- do not have to carry on the walks. Wild life park also much better than expected. Great to have someone else do the driving.

Overall, the days were long and tiring. By the end of my trip, I was exhausted. However, I would do it all again. I was able to see and do so much, and the guides were friendly, knowledgeable and experienced, making every day more enjoyable and run smoothly.
“A perfect day out in the real wilderness”
This is the trip to take if you want to experience Tasmania beyond the standard tourist fare. It takes you literally to the heart of wild and beautiful Tassie passing through some most lovely towns and villiages on the way, giving you a look at the most interesting hydro-electric operations which have been so essential to the development of this state. This was an absolutely fantastic tour which the operaters did not hesitate to undertake despite us being so few in number, their profit margin surely undermined by that- testament to the value that they give to their work. Nick, our guide, was delightful and able to well handle my friend who has some psychological issues and I (who some may well suggest that I can be similarly demanding). We went on 3 amazing walks to the most stunningly beautiful places I'm likely to ever see, stopped for lunch at a perfect spot and had arvo tea in a charming sandstone Georgian cottoge on the way back. A perfect day to remember!

Lovely bush walking with good challenging swing bridges and Ariel treetop airwalk - can give shivers. But unmissable. Great picnic area. Take a picnic as the Cafe is very poor - very little on offer except expensive fried stuff, gift shop poor too. Staff a little offhand.
“Loved the Caves”
It was a long day and lots of driving but well worth it. I have some mobility issues and chose not to do the sky walk but still had a lovely walk down the the river and a very nice coffee at the information centre.
My adult nieces did do the walks and said that they were fantastic. Nicholas the guide was very knowledgeable and looked after us well, except for feeding us pepper berries lol.
The Hasting caves were what I came for and they were excellent. The tour guide was so patient with me and even got me out a chair to sit for a minute mid cave tour, so lovely of her.
Such a beautiful cave system well worth all the steps.
“Beautiful ACTIVE Day Trip”
I did this tour as part of the 'Big Three' three-day tour from Hobart to Launceston. The weather on the day of the tour was not ideal, lightly raining nearly the entire day, but I still had a lot of fun. The day started early picking everyone up from their hotels before making a quick stop shortly outside of Hobart for anyone needing to purchase lunch to take with them for the day. We made one additional stop along a beach before getting to the Freycinet National Park. From there, we had three options of walks, a short walk to a cafe/lunch spot, a walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout (a 45-minute uphill walk), or the option to extend your walk to the actual sands of Wineglass Bay (approximately 2.5 hours). Normally, I would have chosen the longer walk, but given the weather was rainy, and the guide advised there were a couple of sections of the walk to be careful on, our group of four opted for the walk to the lookout. Two of the members of the group stopped halfway to the lookout before turning to head towards the van as it was an uphill climb and a bit too much for them. After taking in the views overlooking Wineglass Bay, we headed to Honeymoon Bay and did the Cape Tourville Lighthouse Walk. The description says you stop at the Freycinet Marine Farm for oysters, but we did not, so maybe that is a seasonal thing. We made one last stop for coffee/snacks/ice cream before arriving in Launceston. Overall, the day was long and tiring, but fun, and I learned a lot from the guides.
“Stunning Views and Devils’ Droppings”
We were not sure how well we would manage this tour. We are the wrong side of 65 but hoped we would have the necessary fitness for a full day out and about. We were glad we took the chance. We were picked up from our hotel by Trevor, our guide, and driven to the ferry. From there we crossed to the World Heritage Maria Island. The island turned out to have a jumble of buildings left over from its previous incarnations as convict settlement, farm and cement works. It also has an odd assortment of native and introduced wildlife. We saw pademelons, wombats, Bennett wallaby, kangaroos, ‘turbo chooks’ and Cape Barren Geese. We walked a loop via the limestone Fossil Cliffs admiring the jaw-dropping scenery along the way. We relaxed in the shade at the old settlement at Darlington, ate our lunches (bring your own), and refilled our water bottles. Trevor gave us the option of exploring the settlement further on our own and meeting up later, or joining him on the second loop walk to the Painted Cliffs. We chose the latter and were delighted we did. The beach and cliffs were stunning. The day concluded with the ferry back to Triabunna and the drive back to Hobart. All day Trevor was a font of knowledge about Maria Island in particular, and Tasmania in general. He is rightly passionate about Tasmania’s wilderness areas, fauna and flora. I will treasure many of his anecdotes and, in particular, his learned lectures on Tasmanian Devil droppings. Throughout the day we covered 10 kms but there were no stairs, the walking was on either open ground or well-marked paths, there were two moderately challenging hills and a bit of a clamber at the Painted Cliffs.

My husband and I made the tour on Jan.,21st. Our guide was Beth, a very attentive and knowledgeable young lady. Beth answered all our questions, she was very confident and she was great fun as well.

“Very encompassing tour”
Nick was very descriptive of all parts of the trip. Scenery and stops were fantastic. Pickup was prompt. Location of pickup was easily accessible. Bring walking shoes for hikes. Bus speaker system was intermittent. All tour guides should speak a little slower for non-Australians.

Needed to get to Launceston. This was the perfect trip. Enjoyed, great staff. Much better experience than with Tasmania Expeditions.

What a great thing to do in southern Tassie.
It’s a drive, but a beautiful one. The road is sealed all the way and it’s in good condition. The staff were friendly and the air walk was amazing. We also did the eagle hang life/zip line. Well worth it. The long loop traversed 2 swing bridges and was an easy 1 hour walk.
