See MapAn action-packed tour day from Launceston to Hobart via the world-famous Wineglass Bay and the East Coast.
We depart Launceston ready for an action-packed day out exploring Wineglass Bay, Freycinet National Park and the delights & highlights along the way.
Our drive this morning takes us through the well-preserved Georgian townships of Evandale and Campbell Town. We make a short stop in Campbell Town where you can collect some lunch to take along for the day ahead. You will have time to discover the Convict Brick Trail that extends through the town, visit the Red Bridge, and check out the tree sculptures depicting the history of the town.
After a brief stop in Campbell Town we travel to the East Coast.
Once inside Freycinet National Park we begin a series of walks and exploration of the area. We walk as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, this is a moderate uphill walk of around 45 minutes. Once at the top you are rewarded with that world – famous view of Wineglass Bay and the stunning Freycinet National Park. Enjoy the moment, take in the views and let our guides help you with those sought-after photographs. The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania and requires good mobility and adequate fitness. It is 1.3 km uphill, before returning downhill.
From the Lookout you have the option to return to the start of the walk with our tour guide, or for the keen walkers you can choose to spend the rest of your time completing the walk down to Wineglass beach.
Wineglass Bay Beach Walk – This is a 2.5 hr return walk and adequate fitness is required. Our tour has ample time for you to do the full walk to Wineglass Bay Beach and return. Once on the beach you can enjoy your lunch in this stunning setting, jump in the pristine waters for a swim, or wander along the white sands. This is one of the most rewarding walks in Tasmania to a stunning location.
If you prefer to select the shorter walking option, then we return from the Lookout with our Tour Guide and explore other areas of Freycinet National Park. Visit Honeymoon Bay & Cape Tourville Lighthouse.
We re-group ready for the return journey. Our final stop on the East Coast is the stunning Devil’s Corner Winery, where you will have time to take in the magnificent view. On site you can enjoy a wine tasting, wood fired pizza, fresh seafood and Oysters from Freycinet Marine Farm and ice creams all available at own expense on the day.
We return to Hobart around 6.00pm.
We anticipate you will travel with 1 suitcase/travel pack per person, and your day pack for the day. If you have excess luggage please let our team know prior to travelling. We have an extensive range of hotels that we pick up and drop off door to door. However, if your accommodation is not part of our selected range of hotels/hostels, you will be picked up / dropped off from a central location.

Do I need to take any medical supplies?
It is not necessary to bring any medical supplies other than any personal items you may require. Each tour will carry an first aid box and our guides are all certified in First Aid.
How fit do I need to be?
Our tours are made to be fun, informative and active and can be enjoyed by anyone with a moderate degree of fitness and agility. Travellers should be comfortable with hiking/walking up to 5km each day.
Do I need travel insurance?
Insurance is important in protecting visitors from loss or damange of goods, medical problems, cancelation by passengers or other casualties. Its highly recommended. Some tours on this website require you to have travel insurance. If you are Australian then it is not necessary.
Will I be able to use my mobile whilst on tour?
You can use your mobile while touring in Australia or New Zealand, but coverage may be limited in remote areas. For best connectivity, consider purchasing a local SIM card or an international roaming plan.
Can we depart Tasmania the day our tour finishes? Can we be dropped off at the Airport?
Yes, you can depart Tasmania the same day your tour finishes; to be on the safe side we advise all flights leaving Tasmania should be booked for 8pm or later.We can arrange an airport drop off on the final day of tour the following tours: 7 Day, 6 Day, 5 Day, 4 Day. If you wish to be dropped at the Airport on either of these please ensure you have all possessions with you on tour as you will be dropped at the airport on the way back into Hobart.For all other tours you will be dropped into the city centre.
Can I arrive in Tasmania the day my tour departs?
No, You will need to arrive into your departure city at least the day before your tour is scheduled to depart, due to the early start to our day tours and multi-day tours you cannot arrive the same day your tour is set to depart.
How can I get from the Airport to the city centre?
HOBART AIRPORT INFORMATIONLOCATION – Hobart Airport is located 17 kilometres (roughly a 15-20 minute drive) from the city centre of Hobart. You can get to and from the airport via the SkyBus, Uber or taxis.SKYBUS HOBART EXPRESS SHUTTLE SERVICE – Skybus operates a regular express bus service between Hobart Airport and select locations in Hobart’s city centre.TAXIS – Taxis are located directly out the front of the building and cost approximately $40 to $60 each way to/from Hobart’s city centre. Do I have to book this tour online?
Definitely not. Our website is designed to make is easy and convenient for you to schedule your tour. However we understand sometimes its nice to talk to someone directly. So by all means give us a call and we can organise your trip over the phone.
If I book more than one tour can I get a discount?
Absolutely! If you are booking multiple tours then we may be able to offer you a discount. Send us an email at info@lostinaustralia.org and let us know what you thinking of doing and we can put together a price for you.Also, be sure to look out for monthly specials on tours. We often have some great bargains.
How do I know when a tour is available?
You can check the departure dates of tours by using our calendar on the top right hand corner of the tour page. This will tell you what days the tour departs. For availability of seats please contact us directly at info@lostinaustralia.org or call us.
Does the tour price include flights?
No. Tour prices do not include any travel arrangements other than for the duration of the tour itself. If you need assistance with booking flights or buses our travel team and certainly help - Just ask!
How far in advance do I need to book my tour?
As a rule of thumb we generally say AT LEAST 2 weeks prior to departure, this will usually get you a seat on the date you want. That being said, we cannot guarantee that spaces will be available at the time of your booking so, if you can, book as soon as possible. Bookings can still be made right up until the departure date of the tour if seats are available. If you know when you'd like to travel, please contact us and we will let you know if you need to book soon or if you have time.

Is this tour for me?
Our tours are made up of small groups with a range of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Generally people who travel with us are between 20 and 49, though we also get alot passengers much older onboard - everyone is welcome! On tour we get equally as many males as females and everyone shares an enthusiasm for the out doors, nature, adventure and culture. Our tours are for those wanting to really explore and share the experience with likeminded travellers. Whether we are camping by a billabong in Kakadu National Park or sharing a cabin in Tasmania, our travellers want more than just a site seeing tour. They are chasing a hands on group experience. The trips are packed with many highlights and the pace can be fast. There may be some long drives and passengers should expect to help out when setting up camp or cooking food - this is a group adventure. However, there’s always time to chill out, have a cold beer ( or wine! ) and soak up your surroundings. As always, if in doubt then contact us directly with your concerns.
Cost and Fees
Will I need additional money?
Visitors are advised to bring some cash as ATMs and banks can be few and far between depending on where we are during the trip. Its handy to have some extra cash as we do stop by local shops and cafe.
Do I need to tip our guide?
If you had an amazing time on tour and wish to tip the guide, then that is completely up to you. However, tipping is not customary and is not at all expected.
Are there any hidden fees I need to know about?
Our tour prices are completely transparent. There are no additional fees involved that are not included in the overall tour price shown. If you wish to do optional activities such as helicopter rides or wildlife safaris, then an extra cost may be needed. However, this will always be made clear at the time of your booking.

What will the weather be like?
Between the months of April and August Central Australia is quite cold so be sure to bring warm clothing. Temperatures range from about 20c during the day right down to 2c at night.Between October and March temperature are warm, so light clothing during the day is ok. However, night times can still be quite cool so its wise to bring light winter clothing for extra warm.

Is food included on this tour?
We believe that our guests prefer to do their own thing when it comes to meals. We allow them their own space each day to dine out and enjoy the local fare and provide recommendations, and we also assist by taking guests to the local supermarket to purchase items that can be prepared in the kitchen at each hostel, either individually or as a group. If there's something you can't do without, just bring it with you! Please advise your dietary requirements at the time of booking.
What vehicle do we use to explore Tasmania?
For our Tasmania tours we generally use one of our custom prepared 4WD Mini buses. However this depends on the size of the group and the amount of days we are out and about. Each Tasmania tour varies so please refer to your tour info panel on the top right hand side of the page.
What is the weather like in Tasmania?
Tasmania weather has four distinct seasons. The warmest months are December, January, February and March. Autumn (Fall) has many sunny days and the landscape produces a mass of colour as 200 year-old oaks, elms, birches and Tasmania’s own native beech, turn from gold to red in preparation for winter. Winter runs from May through August. Spring spans September, October and November, and brings oceans of wildflowers. The average summer temperatures sit between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius (62 and 73 degrees Fahrenheit) and in winter, between 3 and 11 degrees Celsius (37 and 51 degrees Fahrenheit). Tasmania’s location below the 40th parallel means the summer evenings display a lingering twilight

Wonderful landscape from the Wine Glass bay lookout. Having lunch close to Honeymoon beach was good. We enjoyed hiking with the guide. But we didn't go to " Freycinet Marine Farm" and "the historic Ross Village-“Kiki’s Kitchen” on Overview.

This was a fantastic tour. I spent the day with Simon who had many interesting facts about all of the areas we visited and was very flexible with the day. Beautiful views and all of the stops were lovely! We also saw quite a few wombats, kangaroos, and wallabies! I would recommend bringing proper rain gear as it apparently rains in the Cradle Mountain area 300 days a year and it was certainly wet and rainy when we went. Proper hiking shoes are recommended as well! Will definitely recommend this tour :)

First of all, there are a few things to keep in mind when considering this tour. The policy does not allow any cancels after the booking, so make sure you have made your mind before the final click. Also, be prepared for chances of strong winds and rain, which will affect the choice of gear and sometimes of the trekking route. Both of these points are made clear on the site and we did not experience any problems, but should be kept in mind when planning for your trip.

He had every base covered with location maps, ability to have guests on side to adhere to meeting times, variety which he thoroughly enjoyed too, quality destinations, good advice on how to tackle each destination, keenness for us all to have good photographic memories, love of the nature, history, food, wine and Launceston and near destinations. Awesome trip! Damian was kind and the mountain is amazing. I did Marion’s lookout and can confirm that it’s not a hike for the faint of heart or legs, but worth the views. We also saw two wombats and a couple echidnas, and the raspberries were the best I’ve ever had

This was a really great day out, and Graeme was friendly and very knowledgable!
Some in the group seemed a bit miffed that Graeme didn't go on the actual hike, but I think fair enough! That's a lot of walking to do every day, and also - if you read other reviews (like I did beforehand) you'll know to expect that.
Would recommend to any Tassie visitors. Graeme was a delight!!

Decent way to get from Launceston to Hobart and the big 3, guides were friendly and knowledgeable.
It was raining pretty much constantly during our first two days (cradle mountain and wineglass bay) but we still had a good time, the views were awesome despite the rain and fog. We also got to see lots of wombats which are really cute.
The third day to Port Arthur is the only reason we didn't want to give the tour five stars. I wish we could spend more time in Port Arthur instead of the Unzoo (which was okay but unremarkable) and Richmond (lovely town but by the time we got there most shops have already closed). The Port Arthur ferry was also really underwhelming.

I did this tour as part of the 'Big Three' three-day tour from Hobart to Launceston. The day started early picking everyone up from their hotels and heading to the first stop, a place offering coffee and all sort of breakfast/lunch options for eat-in or takeaway. After purchasing our breakfast/lunch for the day, we headed towards Cradle Mountain. The first walk was a short but peaceful walk inside the national park. We then hopped back into the van to drive deeper into the national park and closer to Cradle Mountain. We parked by Dove Lake where the guide explained the various options for trails before we all parted ways. A girl I had met on the bus and myself opted for the hike up to Marion's Lookout together. It was a difficult upward climb, especially since we were moving at a fairly quick pace. It took us approximately an hour to reach the top, but once we got up there the views were spectacular. Because we had made such good time, we were able to relax and have lunch without being rushed. Once finished, we headed down towards Dove Lake. The climb down was steeper than expected, but they have a chain rope most of the way you can hold onto. I was grateful for this when my foot slipped a couple of times on the loose stone. We were good on time so we were also able to do the walk around Dove Lake (counter-clockwise from the parking lot). There were a couple of spots with an uphill climb, but this was much easier than the hike up to Marion's lookout. Once we all met back at the van, we drove to another area of the park for a brief chance to roam around and try to spot wombats. Last stop on the tour was to the Ashgrove Cheese Factory to sample cheeses and purchase goodies or ice cream. Overall, it was a long and tiring day, but it was so exhilarating and worth the effort. The guide was also extremely informed and experienced, making the day more enjoyable and run smoothly.

I can't speak highly enough about the two days we spent in Cradle Mountain.
Spectacular scenery, wildlife and walking trails, which are created so that there is no impact on the environment.
Firstly you decide which level of walker you are and then choose what walks you would like to take from a map. Buses take you to a number of different walking points. Everything is super well organised.
Wear layers of clothing. The weather can change quickly, hot, windy, rainy, cold then hot again!

We went on the Bruny Island day tour, and boy was it amazing! Our driver Andrew was amazing he had a lot of personal experience growing up on the island. Our tour guide, Nathan was very friendly and responsible. He is always looking around making sure everyone was on board and tried his best to make everyone happy. We had an amazing time zipping around Bruny Island with Anni! Anni was a wonderful guide, she struck a good balance between providing information about the island and allowing us to enjoy a chill atmosphere with the group. Had a great time with Andrew on the Bruny Island Day Tour. Mum said it was the best tour she has been on. Andrew was very thoughtful and accomodating. The stops are a great mixture of beautiful landscapes, lovely walks and importantly of course, FOOD. What can we say, we are foodies. The day flew, and we made so many memories. It is a bit pricey for $150 each (at $130 each, it would have been ideal) but we did our research and this tour had everything we wanted plus more so it was worth it.

Really enjoyed the tour of Bruny Island. Our tour guide Annie was fantastic and her knowledge of the area made the tour really interesting. She was also really accomodating of our requests and friendly to talk to. This tour is highly recommended, it is good value for money and time!

We loved our Bruny Island Tour. Anni was a great tour guide, she was organised and her commentary was awesome. I would have preferred to have spent more time at some of the locations such as the light house rather than the retail experience but it was a great tour. I would recommend Tassie Tours to anyone wanting to explore this lovely island!

I had a great day with Bunzy on the Bruny Island day tour! He was a fun guide who gave us a lot of information. He made sure we found a white wallaby which was cool. The itinerary is done well with the maximum amount of time off the bus. I would book more tours with TTT when I got back to Tassie!

We rated this tour highly as it combined an easy pick up from Hobart with travel in a minibus with 19 other people to Kettering where we boarded the ferry to Bruny Island. We spent a brief period on the North Island but then moved to the South Island via The Neck rated one of the top 10 beaches in Australia. Our guide Andrew had access to a family shack on the island and so was able to show us places that other tours would not see. Along the way we tasted honey, chocolate, cheese and oysters and had a superb seafood meal at Adventure Bay.

We did the Hobart Highlights Day tour and Tassie Tours picked us up at the cruise terminal. We went to Mt Wellington, Richmond and Boorong Wildlife Park. Our driver, Mark was very knowledgeable and interacted with all the passengers on the tour.

Had an amazing time with Andrew, a local with lots of titbits about the Bruny and also knew how to avoid the other bus schedules so we had a lot of places with minimal people. The itinerary wasn't fixed but it was very smooth going from one place to the next, we never felt rushed and the views were stunning. Food was amazing, oysters and cherries were fresh and delicious! We had an excellent tour to Bruny Island on Monday. Pickup and drop off was super easy from the hotel and was on time. All of the stops on the island were great and just the right amount of time allowed at each. A table for lunch at the Bruny Island hotel was prebooked, we just had to work out what we wanted while on the tour and he phone ordered for us. We got some photos at the neck, tried some fresh oysters, had cheese, chocolate and beer. Visited the light house and tried to find some albino wallabies. Great day and excellent tour

We went on the Bruny Island day tour, and boy was it amazing! Our driver Andrew was amazing he had a lot of personal experience growing up on the island. His insight with the views around the island was a well worth experience! Make sure to try the Oysters and Beer and Cheese farm definitely the highlights of the day!

Bunzy is an amazing guide! He is so engaged and funny!! And also know a looot about the island telling fun facts and stories.
On the second day we went with Anni she is fascinated by animals and knows all the facts. Very friendly and helpful.

Our tour guide, Nathan was very friendly and responsible. He is always looking around making sure everyone was on board and tried his best to make everyone happy. He has great knowledge of the plants and shown us bush tuckers. The car was also so new and clean. We felt very safe and steady throughout the day on Bruny Island. Love it. Will recommend Tassie Tours to others.

We did 2 tours with Tassie Tours via Viator. And they were fantastic tours. The tour to Cradle mountain was awesome took us for walks. And Hobart tours was very knowledgeable and informative. As we were from a cruise ship, they ensure we make it back to our ship on time. Definitely will use them again when in Tassie.

Heather is an excellent guide. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
The island is like an ark for native animals. Wonderful experience seeing many wombats, pademelons, bandicoots, cape barren geese and green parrots. This is what I came to see. For others with different preferences there is the historical side which is well preserved. Great experience.

Simon was our tour guide/ driver. He was excellent at delivering local knowledge at places we visited, knew the best bakeries to shop at for lunch. Tour was really good. Was a friendly and informative environment. The rainforest was refreshing and very nice to walk through. Bongarong was amazing, shame we only spent an hour there but I would’ve stayed there all day if we could. No koalas to be seen, none in Tasmania apparently. Mt. Wellington was good; bumpy ride but great view from the top.

A very enjoyable trip, in a small group. A minivan ride from Launceston to Cradle Mountain, and then a choice of hikes. The walks were a little challenging in places, but manageable for most people of reasonable fitness. It was nice to meet people in a small group, and it was a very enjoyable day.

Had a really good day the Tahune Airwalk was a beautiful walk it’s a good hike if you have nice weather and the cave at Hastings is a really good experience as well unfortunately for my particular tour the thermal springs was closed but overall really good day I highly recommend if you are staying in Hobart.

My husband and I really enjoyed this tour with our friendly guide Alex who was also very flexible and patient for a couple of requests we asked of him.
We felt very safe and relaxed with his driving too.
Favourite part of the day was seeing the massive boulders and terrain on our hike up the mountain.
AMAZING!!
We are going to tell our friends to do the tour when they visit Hobart .

My kids and I took two tours organized by them. The team was small, nine people the first time and only five the second time. This makes it very relaxing for us and we don’t have to spend time waiting for others. Both tour guides were excellent. They patiently explained, answered questions, and accompanied us throughout the entire process. Special thanks to Lucas for taking us to a cherry farm to buy fresh and delicious cherries on the way back.
