Itinerary
Day 1: Hobart to Strahan
Our small-group tour of lutruwita / Tasmania begins with an exploration of the wild west coast, featuring a series of stunning short walks. The journey takes in three breathtaking national parks, starting with Mount Field National Park, home to the majestic Russell Falls and the world's tallest flowering trees. Next, stand on the shores of Lake St Clair — Australia's deepest freshwater lake — within the Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park. Continuing west, dramatic landscapes unfold, with rugged mountains, vast buttongrass plains and lush rainforests in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. A stop in Queenstown offers insight into Tasmania's pioneering history before arriving in the harbourside village of Strahan.

Day 2: Wild West Coast
Choose between two stunning options. For an active adventure, join a guided walk through temperate rainforest and the towering Henty Sand Dunes. For a more relaxed day, opt for the Gordon River Cruise (own cost), journeying through Macquarie Harbour, stopping at Sarah Island and into the World Heritage Area to stroll amongst the ancient Huon pines. Later, visit the windswept Ocean Beach, Tasmania's longest stretch of sand, and take in the world's freshest air.

Day 3: Cradle Mountain to Launceston
Cradle Mountain National Park is a world-class hiking destination deep within the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. At Ronny Creek, keep an eye out for wombats before choosing from several walking options — the challenging climb to Marion's Lookout, or the scenic 6 km circuit around glacial-carved Dove Lake. The journey continues to Sheffield, the Town of Murals, before arriving in Launceston.

Day 4: Launceston to Bicheno
Begin by exploring Cataract Gorge, a stunning nature reserve minutes from Launceston's centre — a short walk with wallabies about — before heading to the east coast. Stop for lunch in the fishing town of St Helens, then stroll the dazzling white sands and turquoise waters of larapuna / Bay of Fires, learning about its deep cultural significance to the palawa / Tasmanian Aboriginal people. The day ends in the relaxed seaside town of Bicheno, home to the little penguin.

Day 5: Freycinet National Park to Hobart
Discover Tasmania's east-coast jewel, Freycinet National Park. Hike 1,000 steps to the stunning Wineglass Bay Lookout and down to the pristine beach, or tackle the steep climb to Mt Amos for panoramic vistas across the peninsula. Alternatively, relax and enjoy views of the Hazards' pink granite peaks and coastal bushland from Honeymoon Bay. Finally, take in sweeping views of the Tasman Sea from the Cape Tourville Lighthouse, before journeying along the Great Eastern Drive back to nipaluna / Hobart, where the tour concludes.

It was an excellent tour, way exceeded our expectations. Keygun, our driver and guide, was the most enthusiastic guide we had so far and we had done many tours over the seven continents. We are retired active couples and really enjoyed the challenging hike such as climbing up Mt Amos with Keygun. He always offered easier options for those who wanted a more relaxed pace.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the 5-day Tasmania tour with Anthony — a knowledgeable, welcoming and well-organised guide who was easy to travel with. The coach was comfortable, the accommodation did everything it needed to, and the walks and scenery were beautiful, with plenty of stops for food and sightseeing along the way. A fantastic winter tour we'd happily recommend.
As a solo traveller I was slightly daunted, but Anthony made the whole group feel comfortable and safe. He was extremely knowledgeable, and I loved hearing his personal connection to Tasmania alongside the historical and natural commentary. The bus was cosy, the scenery gorgeous to watch roll by, and the accommodation was great.

Just finished the famous 5 tour, both guides we had Gareth (wombat) and Joe were fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. The tour itself was incredible, Tassie is such an incredible place and the tour really lets you see as much as possible in 5 days with plenty of unique experiences and some incredible hikes. The weather didn’t always go our way but didn’t spoil the experience at all :)

A fantastic trip with a wonderful group of twenty — all ages and nationalities, and everyone got on. Stunning places, and we were lucky with the weather. Keygan was a perfect guide: funny, cheerful, full of stories about wildlife and history, and he spoke clearly, which I appreciated as a non-native speaker. Cradle Mountain, Bay of Fires and Freycinet were the highlights. I wasn't sure about Tasmania beforehand and have absolutely no regrets.
A fantastic tour that takes in all the iconic spots and some less touristy ones too. Our guide shared plenty of anecdotes and made it good fun. Lots of iconic walks, with options for every level.

We had a great group and although I think 24 is a bit too large to be ideal for this style of tour, we were lucky with our mix of people. There were people from all over the world ranging in age from their 20s to 70s. Lots of solo backpackers so it was easy to meet people and make friends. There was lots of time spent in the bus which was squashed, but we visited so many fantastic places that it was worthwhile. We all contributed to a Spotify play list which made the long drives more enjoyable. Roads in Tassie are very windy so take travel sickness medications with you if you're prone to that! Our tour guide Tomi was friendly, helpful, gave us all the details we needed to plan ahead and told us information about the places we visited. He was also a safe driver! Accommodation was generally good (I chose hostel style). We got to do great hikes at Cradle Mountain and Freycinet National Park. Another highlight was the beach at Bay of Fires. The tour had long days and early starts but it was worth it!! Our group was awesome.

Would very much recommend! The tour was incredibly engaging, the tour guide was very knowledgable, and it was very well planned. I especially liked that we were given regular updates as to what we’d be doing, what meals we’d need to pack, and what wildlife to look out for, as it meant that I didn’t have to think about anything other than enjoying myself.

Phil was an excellent guide — knowledgeable, kind, calm, and incredibly well organised. The tour itself was amazing, taking us to so many beautiful spots, and the hostel accommodations were top quality, clean, and very comfortable. The only small challenge was that sometimes we arrived in towns with just about an hour before shops closed, which made grabbing food a bit tight before the next day’s activities. But given the long drives between destinations, it’s completely understandable and didn’t detract from the experience. Overall, an incredible trip and highly recommend!
An outstanding tour. Our guide Keegan was part historian, zoologist, botanist, geologist and entertainer — his knowledge went far beyond what I expected. The bus was a little cramped, but frequent stops and seat rotation made it fine, and the international mix and age range of guests was a real delight. We did the five-day and almost wish we'd chosen the seven.

Had the most amazing time on the 5-day tour with Phil, who was fabulous — full of knowledge and catering to the group brilliantly. So many fun and gorgeous sights. I'd recommend it to anyone thinking of booking.

Around 20 of us, aged 20 to 70s, made a friendly group, and I liked the choice of hostel or motel accommodation. Our guide Jason was great, with walks to suit different fitness levels. 10/10 Recommend this Trip! You would have seen a glimpse of how wonderful Tassie is. The landscape is nothing like any other Australian state has to offer. And you will surely want to revisit!
Under Down Under have done a fantastic job in creating the itinerary but huge kudos to our tour lead Hayden for executing it all. Hayden was patient, the best storyteller, super considerate, fun and a passionate local Tassie guide. The concoction of all this made him an absolute LEGEND of a tour guide and I feel grateful to have for the 5 days trip. I was traveling with my Mum (mid 50s), and we had a lovely couple in their 70s walking the hikes so its manageable. All three Motels were superb in aspects of cleanliness and amenities (microwave, kettle, toaster, mini fridge, tv and Wi-Fi of course). We were 20 odd people in the group, and we were a mini family by the end, everyone was accommodating and great to talk to. Hayden ensures frequent stops are made for grabbing a bite or grocery store stop and leg stretching. We were lucky with the weather but ensure you are prepared for all seasons but also pack light if you have booked through JETSTAR and have skipped buying baggage allowance. The platform Get your guide is efficient and no fluff, yes if they could connect me to the tour guide’s contact number before picking up experience could be better. Overall, everything was GREAT and you should BOOK the trip 😊

We went on the Famous 5 Tour to see all around Tasmania in one go. Such a great trip and much easier than doing it all yourself. The excursions were perfect and suited all the ages on our trip with options at each stage. Brendon was a great tour guide and kept us informed of where we were going, what we were passing along the way and everything in between - he certainly knows his stuff about Tasmania and it's history.
Cradle Mountain was amazing as was Freycinet Bay where we had chance to swim.
I would certainly recommend Under Down Under Tours to anyone who wants to experience all that Tasmania has to offer.

Highly recommended. The guide Jason was great, very clear and informative and fine click with the group. We had great days, there was always a choice between short, medium and intensive walks. Regular stops along the way at bakeries for breakfast and lunch and toilet. Great atmosphere in the group with different nationalities and ages, singles and couples. Every day was different in terms of scenery and sights. Especially Cradle Mountains day was great. We have seen a lot of Tasmania in a few days. The views are phenomenal, many different landscapes. Also seen wallabies, kangaroos, wombats and echidna. Optional boat trip from Strahan was a bit long, but the trips on the islands by the guides very informative. Accommodation in Strahan was less, the others were neat, with minibar and sometimes microwave.

A thoroughly organised round trip covering the best of Tasmania, from the rainforests of the west to the beaches of the east. The itinerary is well-balanced, with hiking activities that can be tailored to your fitness level and a strong focus on nature and wildlife throughout.
The guide was highly knowledgeable, and the fully-guided group format made for a fun social experience, mostly travellers in their 20s and early 30s. Optional extras like the Strahan river cruise and “The Ship That Never Was” theatre play are well worth doing. The play in particular is outrageously funny and interactive.
Accommodation was clean and tidy, and the logistics were seamless from start to finish.
Personal highlights: Bay of Fires, Freycinet National Park, and spotting a wombat at Cradle Mountain.
Highly recommended for anyone who loves nature, wildlife, and great company.

This was a fantastic tour which enabled us to see the most lovely places in Tasmania over 5 days. The tour group was small and everyone was very pleasant to be with. Out tour guide Brendan made it especially memorable as he was not only very knowledgeable and helpful but also humorous. The planned walks were lovely and could be taken at ones own pace and ability. It was the best way to really appreciate Tasmania and its flora and fauna.

Direct and honest review of Under Down Under's Tasmania Famous 5 (5 days & 4 nights)!
The tour operator suggests the tour for ages 9-90. This piqued our interest as our 27 year old daughter wanted to travel Australia with her 59 & 66 aged parents. My wife and I are in great shape playing pickleball 3+ hours nearly every day. So we made the reservation.
At every turn we were impressed with Under Down Under. They proactively emailed us, answered all our questions and reminded us of when and where to meet.
Our guide and driver, Joe Taylor, was amazing! He had done our tour about 20 times so really knew the ins and outs to create a great experience. He was very relatable to the 20 of us traveling with him as he had lived in Australia, Canada and the UK. He also traveled the world as a backpacker.
Joe’s first words to our group were along the lines of “you 20 strangers will become a family and will be very sad to say goodbye in five days time.” He was so right!
The twenty of us ranged in age from 19 to 76. We were from Switzerland, England, Ireland, Spain, Denmark, Germany, China, Korea, Vietnam, US and Australia.
We all got along so well and shared many stories. We ate, drank and joked together all day and night.
The sights were magnificent. Each hike always had an “easy” option, many had an “intermediate” option and a few had a “difficult” option. Everyone was challenged but not made uncomfortable.
Cradle Mountain and Mt. Amos were our favorites. At 59 I was still able to impress my Marine daughter with my ability to keep up with the two 19 year old Swiss boys. Don’t get me wrong, these were difficult hikes and the youngsters were not breaking the sweat as much as the old guy.
The accommodations were always clean and comfortable. We opted for the hostels as this was a new experience for us. The hotel option was more the norm for the more mature crowd but there were a few brave older crew that bunked with the younger generation… I really enjoyed the hostel vibe and would NOT have changed this decision.
The food options were many and satisfied all budgets and tastes.
The only additions to the info provided would be to bring shower slippers, ear plugs and eye mask.
If you are young, or young at heart, you will love this adventure trip!

We went on the Famous Five tour, we don’t usually do ‘organised’ tours, preferring to do our own thing. However we are so glad we chose Under Down Under to show us beautiful Tasmania. We had a fantastic time, our guide Hadyn, being born and bred in Tazzy, was extremely knowledgeable about the Island’s wildlife, geology and history. This made the bus journeys to each location very enjoyable and interesting. I think we would have missed a lot of this if we had toured alone. We went for the hotel option and all the accommodation was clean and comfortable, we had a chance to look at one of the hostels and that looked great too. Every activity was optional and there were always good range of things to do for all fitness levels but you had to have reasonable fitness levels to get the best out of this tour. The Famous Five ended too quickly for us, we wanted to stay longer and were very envious of those staying on for the 6 and 7 day options. Being a Tasmanian owned complany.

“An Adventure to Remember!”
My wife and I flew from Texas to Tasmania for the first time during the last half of March 2026. We are so happy Hadyn Chilcott was available to guide us (and 12 other adults) around the island on the 6 Day Comfort Tour.
Being a native of Tasmania who has led many tours, Hadyn’s knowledge of the plants, animals and history of the island kept us entertained the entire time. We highly recommend Hadyn and Under Down Under if you want to see the beauty of the island without the worries of driving on narrow, winding mountain roads, in the rain while dodging suicidal wildlife.
We visited so many sites and ‘only’ took about 1000 photos. If the weather is warm, you’ll have multiple opportunities to swim in fresh and saltwater. Bring comfortable hiking shoes as there are a fair number of trails to walk up, but the views are worth it.
The weather was almost perfect during our trip with only a small amount of drizzle and mostly sunny or partly cloudy skies.
At Unzoo, birds and kangaroos were eating out of our hands while we pet them. The Gordon River cruise to see Sarah Island was an eye-opener to the harsh history of Tasmania.
On the final night, Hadyn took out his guitar and sang a few songs after our dinner overlooking the Tasman Sea. The entire experience was certainly “An Adventure to remember” and we checked off most of the bucket-list items we had for Tasmania at a reasonable price for the experience we had.

“A spectacularly varied, action-packed time”
In all matters except maybe its inhabitants’ dietary habits Tasmania is a country unto itself, and in terms of landscapes actually several, so it absolutely merits a multiday guided tour to explore. The ones run by Under Down Under are really comprehensive and expertly managed. In just a few days we went from snowy peaks to incandescently glowing orange-red beaches, with glistening lakes, giant forests, humungous dunes and some of the most achingly beautiful waterfalls you’ll ever see in between. The variety really is amazing. I also enjoyed the panto in Strahan, which was the first I’d been to and so entertaining that it left me ruing that we didn’t have this participatory theatrical tradition at home in Central Europe. Through it all Will was an energetic, jovial and all-round fab guide. He definitely has the gift of story-telling, embellishing those long drives with detailed accounts of the local fauna, flora, history and Aboriginal practices, all very vividly conveyed and almost hypnotically captivating. My personal highlight was Mount Field National Park, which boasts a waterfall with what I can only describe an infinity ledge, and populations of monumental Huon Pines, and was just one of the most visually stunning and exhilarating places of natural beauty I’ve ever been to. I’m very happy I mixed up the constant, if lovely, warmth of the mainland with some of the refreshing crispness that the (smaller) island has to offer!
Joined the Famous 5 'Original' tour in February 2026. A well-planned itinerary that packed a lot in without feeling rushed, and good-quality accommodation on the motel option. The guide was helpful and hands-on, and I appreciated how he tailored the walking and hiking options to different abilities in a mixed group.
An amazing 5-day tour of Tasmania's west and east coasts, with an equally amazing group and guide, Will — knowledgeable, full of interesting stories, with deep knowledge of bush life and the first people, and an experienced driver who made me feel safe on narrow, winding roads. The group mixed really well.
Eighteen of us, a mix of backpackers and motel travellers. The tour was well organised and Joe, our guide, was motivated, enthusiastic and genuinely knowledgeable about the area. There's no better way to explore Tasmania — a must if you want to see more than just Hobart.

Our guide Will on the 5-day tour was amazing — passionate about showing us the area and sharing fun facts, and linking the land to the history of the Indigenous people; we even tried some bush tucker. The group was almost all solo travellers, which made it very cohesive and open. A fantastic introduction to Tasmania.

I did part of this tour six years ago and always meant to come back. A great experience with a friendly, capable guide and driver. I have arthritis now and allowances were made for me. Ten out of ten — and I couldn't find a comparable tour anywhere in Australia at this price.

Our guide was Tommy and the tour was excellent — knowledgeable, always keen to help, and he kept us informed so we always knew what was happening. The group worked well together and the motels suited us nicely. It works for all ages, since the walks can be taken at different levels of fitness.

An absolutely fantastic five-day 'Famous 5' experience exploring Tasmania coast to coast. The itinerary was exceptionally well planned, balancing activity and discovery — the wild waterfalls and rainforests of the West Coast, the alpine scenery of Cradle Mountain, and the white sands of Bay of Fires and Wineglass Bay in the east. A great variety of optional walks from easy to challenging.
We don't usually do organised tours, preferring our own thing, but we're so glad we chose Under Down Under for the Famous Five — a great decision.

Five days in late January with guide Joe Taylor, who drove and narrated flawlessly and taught the group a great deal about Tasmania's history, geology, conservation and wildlife. I couldn't have seen half as much in twice the time on my own. Very good value, with some great hikes and a few excellent bonus stops.

Among the very best small-group tours I've taken. Our guide Keygan had an encyclopaedic knowledge of Tasmania and a dry Tasmanian humour to deliver it. Unlike many five-day tours that are really three days of touring, this one was five full days, with plenty of rest stops and a good range of hiking. The choice of accommodation was a big plus, and a daily supermarket stop meant you could put together your own picnic lunch.

Pure nature — beaches, hikes and encounters with pademelons, wombats, wallabies, echidnas, platypus and countless birds. Plenty of learning too, about Indigenous culture, flora, fauna and controlled burning. All of it with a lively, interesting group.

A wonderful week exploring Tasmania, and I've come away with friendships from the people I met. The tour was very well organised and covered the length and breadth of the island. What made it special was our guide, known to everyone as Wombat, who had an encyclopaedic knowledge of his homeland — history, geography, geology, flora and fauna. Alone, I'd have gleaned a fraction of it.
I recently joined the 5-Day West to East Coast tour and it was the best experience I've ever had. Our guide Phil was incredibly kind, caring, humorous and accommodating — he drove us safely around the island, shared fascinating history at each place, always prioritised our safety on the hikes (even accompanying us), and gave practical tips on where to get food. One of the best tours I've been on — the amount they show you in 5 days is incredible. As a solo traveller I was daunted by getting on a bus with 23 strangers, but within hours we became close. Our guide Tomi was amazing, making sure we got to everything while adding extra local knowledge and stories on the bus. I can't imagine the tour without him. I'd recommend this to anyone with a few days to see the gorgeous sights of Tasmania.

Our guide Hadyn, Tasmanian born and bred, was extremely knowledgeable about the island's wildlife, geology and history, which made the drives genuinely interesting — we'd have missed most of it travelling alone. We took the hotel option and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. Every activity was optional, with a good range for all fitness levels.

The whole tour was very enjoyable, with Cradle Mountain the most breathtaking and memorable, followed by Bay of Fires, Henty sand dunes, Cataract Gorge, Freycinet and the stunning Wineglass Bay. Tasmania is beautiful and picturesque, with complete contrast from west to east. The time at each place was sufficient, though I'd have loved extra days. I didn't expect how active it would be, but it was worth it — suited to anyone young or old with reasonable fitness. Our driver/guide Joseph (Jo) was very good — easy to communicate with, passionate and knowledgeable, and he made sure everyone had a memorable time.
I'm at the end of Day 5 of my tour and truly grateful Phil has been our guide for the first five days — he took great care of us. What impressed me most was Day 5, hiking up Mt Amos for the view over Wineglass Bay: my climbing skills aren't good and it suddenly started raining, but Phil patiently guided me step by step up and back down. With him around I felt safe and well looked after — a very reassuring experience.
I did the Famous Five Original tour and it was beyond my expectations. Thank you Tomi for your awesome local knowledge and for creating a relaxed, fun atmosphere while connecting with each of us. We had a range of ages and nationalities, which made for a fun group. I'm from Victoria and wondered how different Tassie could really be — it IS different, with breathtaking nature. Climbing to Marion's Lookout at Cradle Mountain was a highlight. Comfortable motel accommodation, and as someone who doesn't like driving on windy roads, a bus tour was perfect. Highly recommended.

A fantastic time — a really broad experience of all Tasmania offers, and although the schedule was busy there was plenty of time to relax and watch the world go by from the bus. Our guide was knowledgeable about everything from history to geography, and clear on where and when to get food. We often arrived at accommodation in the early evening, so I'd recommend heading straight out to eat, as things close early in Tasmania!

From start to finish we were impressed with Under Down Under — from the booking office (thanks Torin) to our guide (thanks Keygan), the motels and the bus. We were a group of 14 elderly ladies from the Gold Coast wanting the Tasmanian highlights on a reasonable budget, and all our expectations were exceeded. Keygan had a wealth of knowledge about everything — Aboriginal culture, animals, nature and history — and surprised us with fun tidbits and detailed stories. The motels were high quality with thoughtful twin rooms. An excellent job at a very reasonable price — a big thank you from the girls and me.

I took part in the five-day trip through western and eastern Tasmania. It was a very interesting trip. Tasmania is incredibly beautiful, and we were able to gather many different impressions. We visited beaches, national parks, and cities as well as smaller towns. During the ride, I saw many places where I would have liked to stop, but it’s understandable that time did not allow for that. The accommodations were also great. Gerrit, our guide, provided us with extensive knowledge about the history of Tasmania, as well as the various locations and nature. His knowledge is truly impressive. I am very glad I booked the tour. For solo travelers, this is definitely the best way to explore a lot of the island in a short amount of time.

Recently finished the Tasmania Famous 5 / Winter Wonders Tour with our amazing tour guide Brendon—and needless to say we had the best time! Our jam packed tour was filled with breathtaking sceneries, unique experiences, and of course, the highly awaited cute animals! Each day was different from the last and no matter how many parks we’ve been to or beaches we’ve passed by, everything was exciting up to the very end. Brendon was indeed a very passionate guide all throughout the trip. From the detailed explanations about each place, the impromptu stops in remarkable areas, checking on the aurora just in case we were lucky, and even up to the banter we had on tour, Brendon truly went above and beyond to give us the best Tasmania experience ever (even if we might’ve tested his patience a couple of times—whoops! ). I went on the Winter Wonders tour this June and it was absolutely wonderful! Our tour guide Brendon was the perfect guide! He knew and shared a lot of history about the places we went, was easy going, respectful and genuinely seemed like he wanted us all to have an amazing experience in Tasmania. He even went out of his way to take us to a beautiful beach full of seashells which was one of my favourite parts! The few different places we went to hike had different level tracks which was really nice so you had some options depending on your physical capabilities or energy levels. I found it was very well paced with the activities and also the driving time. I felt like I saw lots during this tour and definitely want to come back! Tasmania is stunning but hard to travel without a car so going with Under Down Under was the perfect way to see it.

It’s hard to describe in words what I experienced in 5 days! The sheer diversity of Tasmania - beaches, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, rainforests, sand dunes, hikes, snow, wildlife, seafood, wine tasting, quiet little seaside towns. The unmatched energy of our driver-cum-guide Anthony. The brilliant pacing of things, which is so difficult to get right on a group tour - never did things feel rushed or tight. The motels were superb - clean and well appointed.
I came back completely soul refreshed and this was easily one of the best holidays of my life! Just book it - it’s worth every single penny!

Just finished a 5 day tour with Hadyn as my tour guide. The trip itself and Hadyn were absolutely fantastic! Hadyn was incredibly knowledgeable, a great storyteller and even an amazing musician. A highlight for me was sitting around with the other guests on the tour listening to Hadyn play guitar. I learned a lot about Australian history and about our flora and fauna on the trip and found Tasmania to be a beautiful place. I’m very glad to have taken this trip and highly recommend it to others!

Tasmania is a small reflection of New Zealand ( my own personal view). It's simple, not too busy , carefree country. Cheap if you are an Australian but quite expensive to travel there if you are foreigners from Asia or Europe.

We are usually not tour people however this active outdoor tour exceeded our expectations. We spent more time off the bus than on. The hike to Marion's lookout at Cradle Mountain was spectacular with the wild wombats as a bonus! Loved Bay of Fires and Wineglass Bay. Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is a must! There is nothing like feeding a roo! Our tour leader knew everything about Tasmania - history, plants, and wildlife. We would definitely go with Under Down Under if we make it back to Tasmania again.

I took the Famous Five Tour with them and was incredibly happy with my experience! Going in July was proof that Tasmania is also worth visiting in winter. The booking process was smooth and there are a bunch of pick-up spots around Hobart, so I only had a 2-minute walk to get on the bus from my accommodation. All hostels we stayed in during the tour were clean, comfy and well equipped, and the locations visited by the tour are a really nice mix of hikes, stunning outlooks and time on the beach. Our guide Brendon went out of his way to make it a great trip for everyone. He adapted the schedule flexibly, adding a stop here and there if it was necessary due to weather. Because the show starts early in winter, we were even able to attend the „Devils in the dark“ Experience in Bicheno, which was absolutely amazing! Tasmania has loads of fun animal warning signs on the streets and thanks to Brendon pointing them out and slowing down everytime, we now have a perfect photo collection of Wombats, Devils, Wallabies & co pictograms.

I am able to visit exquisite locations like Gordon river in West Tasmania all the way to the famous Cradle mountain and Bay of Fires. This whole trip couldn't be more perfect without Anthony's guidance as tour guide. His diverse fun facts and history commentary about every place we've come across has turned from a mundane bus ride to an exciting journey throughout every location's history. His clear, detailed explanation and advice on various scenic routes has immensely helped us in preparing for every day's journey, and his funny puns and jokes always provide a warm and homey atmosphere during all those long bus rides. Tasmania has just earned an additional returning tourist.

It’s hard to describe in words what I experienced in 5 days! The sheer diversity of Tasmania - beaches, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, rainforests, sand dunes, hikes, snow, wildlife, seafood, wine tasting, quiet little seaside towns. The unmatched energy of our driver-cum-guide Anthony. The brilliant pacing of things, which is so difficult to get right on a group tour - never did things feel rushed or tight. The motels were superb - clean and well appointed.
I came back completely soul refreshed and this was easily one of the best holidays of my life! Just book it - it’s worth every single penny!

We are usually not tour people however this active outdoor tour exceeded our expectations. We spent more time off the bus than on. The hike to Marion's lookout at Cradle Mountain was spectacular with the wild wombats as a bonus! Loved Bay of Fires and Wineglass Bay. Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is a must! There is nothing like feeding a roo! Our tour leader knew everything about Tasmania - history, plants, and wildlife. We would definitely go with Under Down Under if we make it back to Tasmania again.

With Tim as our tour guide/driver, we covered about 1400 km of Tasmanian wilderness in 5 days. We felt like we saw everything and then some! Tim was informative and a great storyteller, but definitely not annoying. He was also punctual, which is important when there is so much to do and see.
The vehicle fit 20 people and was very comfy. I appreciated the well spaced breaks for bathrooms and snacks. We chose the motel option and each one was clean and comfortable.
The itinerary is planned and full of great hikes, a boat tour, etc. We had a great time. Having done this tour, I can say that we would have never been able to navigate Tasmania on our own with this kind of efficiency and detail. Thank goodness for a knowledgeable and skilled driver!

Recently finished the Tasmania Famous 5 / Winter Wonders Tour with our amazing tour guide Brendon—and needless to say we had the best time! Our jam packed tour was filled with breathtaking sceneries, unique experiences, and of course, the highly awaited cute animals! Each day was different from the last and no matter how many parks we’ve been to or beaches we’ve passed by, everything was exciting up to the very end. Brendon was indeed a very passionate guide all throughout the trip. From the detailed explanations about each place, the impromptu stops in remarkable areas, checking on the aurora just in case we were lucky, and even up to the banter we had on tour, Brendon truly went above and beyond to give us the best Tasmania experience ever (even if we might’ve tested his patience a couple of times—whoops! ). A well deserved thanks are in order for being so wonderful with all of us, especially my mum! I recently joined the Famous 5 tour with Down Under Tours and had an exceptional experience. Our guide, Tim, was outstanding—extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and approachable.
Accommodation in Strahan was very comfortable, featuring spacious rooms, cozy beds with electric blankets, and all the necessary amenities, including access to a communal microwave, washer, and dryer. The motel stays in Launceston and Bicheno were also of a high standard.
The tour itself was very well-organised, offering full, activity-packed days that maximised the time we had. The small group size (a maximum of 24 people) made for a more personal and enjoyable experience. I met some wonderful people along the way, many of whom I’ll be keeping in touch with.
Tim's genuine passion for his work greatly enhanced the trip, and I sincerely thank him for making it such a memorable journey. I had an incredible time and highly recommend Down Under Tours. I’ll definitely be booking with them again on my next visit to Tasmania.

We made plenty of stops near bakeries and supermarkets to grab food and drinks. In the evening we had enough free time to cook.
The views were amazing. Our highlights were the echidna and wombat we saw, the Bay of Fires and the Wineglass Bay walk we did.

We joined the Famous 5 tour with Anthony as our guide. It was the best tour I could have signed up for! Must see scenic spots are fitted right into a 5 day schedule without being too jam packed. There are always options of short walks and hikes for people with different activity level, so as a couch potato, I can still complete these courses. Anthony is a chill guy, very informative and has a great sense of humour. His on-the-road playlist sets you on the mood for the day ahead! We had a nice mix of guests from all over the world on the tour, people are friendly and the atmosphere is light. I would definitely recommend Under Down Under! I took the Famous Five Tour with them and was incredibly happy with my experience! Going in July was proof that Tasmania is also worth visiting in winter. The booking process was smooth and there are a bunch of pick-up spots around Hobart, so I only had a 2-minute walk to get on the bus from my accommodation. All hostels we stayed in during the tour were clean, comfy and well equipped, and the locations visited by the tour are a really nice mix of hikes, stunning outlooks and time on the beach. Our guide Brendon went out of his way to make it a great trip for everyone. He adapted the schedule flexibly, adding a stop here and there if it was necessary due to weather. Because the show starts early in winter, we were even able to attend the „Devils in the dark“ Experience in Bicheno, which was absolutely amazing! Tasmania has loads of fun animal warning signs on the streets and thanks to Brendon pointing them out and slowing down everytime, we now have a perfect photo collection of Wombats, Devils, Wallabies & co pictograms. Totally recommend!

There are not enough words to express how amazing this trip was!!! I never write reviews but this was an exceptional experience from start to finish. I originally chose this tour because I saw good reviews on reddit, and I’m glad I did. This was my first tour ever and first solo backpacking tour as well, so I was worried about safety. The tour guide (Phil) and group was absolutely amazing. Under down under is a local company and you can tell - everything was thought out and authentically local from start to finish. During booking, the online chat service was available 24 hours to answer any questions I had (and I had a lot of questions). We stayed at three different hostels and naturally I was worried, I also thought I wouldn’t be able to make any friends. There were a lot of solo travellers and some duos but we all got along very well - the safety and security of the group, as well as the fun, was thought out well. At the start of the tour, our group of 11 immediately got along and are still friends to this day. Phil was available to answer any questions at all times, reassuring us and letting us know about everything local - where to buy oysters, what’s nearby, what’s the best place for dinner etc. he was prompt, punctual, you could tell he knew his stuff. I wish I have a tour guide like Phil for every trip. One of the hostels was a house that was only for our tour group in a beach town and that was phenomenal - we made a lot of great laughs and memories. We got to see wombats and wallabies in their natural habitat, we got a private tour of the boring wildlife sanctuary where we got to see Tasmanian devils and feed kangaroos, and we got try leatherwood honey icecream at a local ice creamery (a Tasmanian special). The hikes and nature accommodated all levels of fitness and I felt supported and safe throughout the experience. The expectations were clear, Phil clearly communicated everything from the start, and I saw everything I wanted to and more during this tour. I could go on for pages complimenting each and every single detail that was well thought out about this tour but you get the picture. I can’t recommend this tour enough and I wish there was a local tour like this for every city I visit. The entire customer service and experience was personalised, smooth and spectacular. This is a trip I’ll remember for a lifetime. The only bad thing I have to say is that I wish I was there longer.

Went for the Tassie 5 highlight trip for my birthday. Our tour guide was Phil. Had an amazing time. Learnt a little bit of landscape, history, random facts. The banter was lovely and the information is interesting. Felt safe and properly guided throughout A trip that I will always remember fondly! Couldn’t have reached the top of Mount Amos without Phil (literally. We went wrong to the direction). Highly recommended. Truly. Even if you go alone, you’ll make friends on the trip. The only 1 thing that would have made it even better for me is the choice of lodging along the route.

A 5-day guided tour of Tasmania (Famous 5). Our guide Brendon was top — very friendly and always in a good mood. It was my first multi-day tour, and it really let us see Tasmania's beauty, with very varied landscapes from rainforest to mountains and beaches. It involves several hours on the road each day to reach the highlights — Cradle Mountain, Bay of Fires and Mt Amos (Freycinet) were the standouts. I recommend this tour if you only have 5 days to tour Tasmania!

I took part in the five-day trip through western and eastern Tasmania. It was a very interesting trip. Tasmania is incredibly beautiful, and we were able to gather many different impressions. We visited beaches, national parks, and cities as well as smaller towns. During the ride, I saw many places where I would have liked to stop, but it’s understandable that time did not allow for that. The accommodations were also great. Gerrit, our guide, provided us with extensive knowledge about the history of Tasmania, as well as the various locations and nature. His knowledge is truly impressive. I am very glad I booked the tour. For solo travelers, this is definitely the best way to explore a lot of the island in a short amount of time.

Just finished the 5 day Tasmania West & East coast tour. Totally brilliant. 22 of us aged between 25 and 85. It was such fun and everyone was able to have a fantastic time and access adventure and beautiful places every day thanks to our guide Phil. We just completed the Famous Five tour and it was everything and more than we thought it would be. Our guide Brendan did an excellent job herding the cats to stay on schedule while accommodating us for plenty of stops and extra site seeing activities. It is a great way to see Tasmania and this tour really hits the highlights while being a good value with the places you get to go and experience.

I took a 5-day Tasmanian tour west and east coast with the guide Brendon, it was an incredible tour, the guide took us to the tourist site and gave us several options to choose from and waited for us when we returned, we made several stops to stretch our legs and we had options to go to supermarkets or buy food in restaurants, I want to highlight Brendon's kindness, his attitude and his punctuality as well as the information he gave us and how funny he was with his jokes, I will definitely return to a tour with you guys

I was 50/50 whether to squeeze Tasmania into my trip but I’m 100% happy I did and equally happy that I booked this tour to make the most of the time and see as much as possible! The group was great and our guide Phil was amazing - he’s lived the majority of his life in Tasmania and was extremely knowledgable + got involved and did everything he could to make the group’s experience as great as possible. If you have limited time and a modest budget this Famous 5 tour of Tasmanian is perfect. We had long days but covered a lot of area and saw as many wilderness sites as possible in that amount of time. Our guild took us to places where we were able to see wallabies, wombats and lots of different birds. There was a hostel option which was less expensive and a motel option which we used. The motels were clean and had everything needed. Our guild was efficient and very punctual. I would book with this company again. The only negative would be the bus was very squishy and bumpy but given that the roads were very narrow and twisty and not in great shape at times this might be unavoidable.

Our party of three had a wonderful family holiday on the Famous 5 tour (25-29 January 2025). The itinerary is well thought out, covering all the main scenic sites with plenty of time for hiking, and the logistics are well arranged. Our guide, driver and host — and friend by the end — Anthony grew up on the West Coast and shared many insider and personal stories that gave us a deeper sense of the places, and even the background music was chosen to match the mood. His enthusiasm for welcoming guests and showing them his beloved island is infectious. An excellent tour with lots of different things to do. There is a good mix of hiking, swimming and relaxing on the beach. As well, we saw a lot of different small towns and the historical site of Port Arthur.

Tassie 5 Highlights Tour
We recently returned from our tour of Tasmania with Under Down Under and our guide Hayden. We are so glad that we took this tour to get to see Tasmania. Hayden did a fantastic job of safely driving the group from destination to destination, keeping us up to date with the plan of the day and giving us information about what we were seeing. The highlights of the tour are mostly nature but also include the prison sight that really gives you a feel for how this nation started.

I loved the Famous five tour. I'm not usually a tour person, but this took me places I wouldn't otherwise have seen. And they were all spectacular! Brendan was an excellent tour guide.
So glad I booked the 5-day tour. Keygan was an exceptional guide and wonderful host — as a lifelong Tasmanian he knew so much about everything, and I can't believe how much we saw in such a short time. The accommodation was good (only one subpar hostel), and I appreciated the flexibility of cooking or eating out. A good, friendly mix of solos and couples.

We just finished the famous 5 tour and it was an absolute blast! The itinerary was well-organized and we covered a lot of grounds within a few days! Not only did we get to swim in the freshest waters at Bay of Fires and Honeymoon Bay, we had some amazing short walks to Nelson Falls, Henty Dunes and Cataract Gorge which were a great challenge to my parents yet still manageable.
The Famous 5 was an absolute blast! Well organised, covering a lot of ground in a few days. We swam in the freshest waters at Bay of Fires and Honeymoon Bay and did amazing short walks at Nelson Falls, Henty Dunes and Cataract Gorge — a great challenge for my parents yet still manageable. Our group was lovely and diverse, all sharing a love for nature. Our guide Brandon was friendly, passionate and knowledgeable, with great food recommendations, and led us to spot wombats, wallabies, pademelons and more — accommodating our needs with well-timed stops (and the best ice cream). We also enjoyed exploring Strahan, Launceston and Bicheno in the evenings, and the spacious motels (one even had a pool). An amazing way to start the new year — definitely recommend.
I loved this trip so much — I visited all the beautiful places I'd dreamed of for years, without having to drive or navigate myself.

Largely thanks to the tour and Tim, Tasmania is now one of my favourite places on earth. Every day is jam-packed with hikes, beaches, wildlife, food and more, and Tim shared so much about the places, Tasmania and Australia in general. The 5-Day West & East Coast Tour in November 2024 had a great overall atmosphere — unforgettable! We couldn't see Montezuma Falls due to the weather, but our guide Anthony shared his love of Tasmania, took good care of us and kept the program on track with clear instructions. We saw many beautiful things — a shame I couldn't do the 7-day tour. There's the language barrier, which wifi on the bus could help with.
Tasmania is an amazing island, and travelling with Andrea as our guide, driver and now friend made it all the more special — an amazing guide.
Highly recommended! I did the Famous Five, west to east, and instantly fell in love with Tassie. A great experience, good accommodation, and our knowledgeable (and funny!) guide Campbell was a real asset. Keep it up, Cam!
I just finished the 5-day Tassie Highlights tour — an amazing experience. Our guide Justin was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the area's history and a great storyteller, so I learned a lot while having a good time, with excellent timekeeping at each stop. Our group ranged from late 20s to late 80s and Justin tailored each stop to everyone's needs. I chose hostels, which were mostly very good — the Bicheno one was fantastic; I found the first-night Hobart hostel less clean and a bit noisy, so a different Hobart option might improve the experience. Overall an excellent tour that's left me wanting to explore more, and I'll no doubt book with Under Down Under again.
A stunning 5 days in Tasmania on the '5 Highlights' tour — everything was perfect! The views are spectacular and the program fascinating and varied. The tour covered almost everything in five days, and the arrangements were very good — we opted for hotels and they were good. Our guide Andrea was really exceptional and made the tour special. As vegetarians, we still had decent options at each location. Driving ourselves, we'd never have covered so many places or avoided the hassle of arranging stays and parking. A cool, worry-free trip.

Itinerary: Excellent!! Loved all the stops, and decent breaks during the drives.
Guide/Driver: Really liked Anthony, he gave us some great commentary.
Motels: Clean, comfortable, quiet, and centrally located. Except for the poor wifi at the Hobart Travelodge, we were really pleased.
Bus: Comfortable if you are no taller than 180 cm, else your knees will be right against the seat in front. There is no overhead storage and barely any under the seat, so if the bus is full, you'll have your daypack on your lap for the drives.
Group Size: My rating is based on the fact that there were only 12 people in our group, so there was room to spread out on the bus. But the max size is 24, and it seems like that would slow everything down--at at least one of the bakery stops, there was only one toilet.

I have just finished the Tassie 5 highlights tour and it was an amazing introduction to Tasmania. Our guide Anthony was just fantastic. He was so passionate about his job and so knowledgeable on all of the areas we were travelling to and passing through. Tasmania is unlike any other country I’ve been to and I was blown away by its’ beauty. A particular highlight for me was definitely the Bay of the Fires. Photos of the place look impressive but it’s nothing like being there (luckily on a beautifully sunny day). The accommodation was comfortable and the tour itself was very well organised. I opted for the motel option but the hostel option also sounded more than adequate from the one person in our group that had opted for that. The transportation was really comfortable and a great playlist and beautiful scenery made long drives pass quick. For the amount that was packed into a very short tour, I never felt rushed nor that the days were too long. I was with a lovely group (obviously not within the tour company’s’ control but it makes a huge difference!) and I think the good vibes amongst the group were definitely aided by Anthony’s great personality.

Booked Famous 5 tour in July and though winter is not a popular season for travel to Tasmania, it was really good that all places were much quieter and we got to visit places that usually will be hard for a mini bus to park and visit. Gareth, our guide, was so knowledgeable with all aboriginal history, exploration history and explanation of nature sights and animals. Absolutely will recommend the tour!

This year I did a Famous 5 tour and was thoroughly impressed. Because it was winter (June), we had all the attractions — beaches, lookouts, waterfalls, hostels — to ourselves, and we were incredibly lucky with the weather. The hostels were all fantastic and the group atmosphere great, with loads of fun. Our guide Tom was truly a 12/10 — he made us feel at ease immediately, answered all our questions, and was so passionate and enthusiastic it was contagious. The Tassie 5 tour takes you around some of the most beautiful places in Australia. While driving it is amazing to see how the Tasmanian scenery changes from white sandy beaches, to temperate rainforests and mountains, to farming countryside. The hikes were scenic, with different levels of difficulty to suit everyone’s capabilities. There was lots of wildlife - we saw wombats, wallabies, and a platypus! The hostels are comfortable, especially the one in Bicheno.
Our tour guide Tom was a lovely and genuine person who really made this whole experience as great as it was. He shared with us some very interesting and important Australian history and his passion and enthusiasm for the places we visited was infectious. He made sure the tour was always running smoothly, stayed upbeat throughout, and kept us safe with his excellent driving - especially in some challenging stormy conditions. Tom has an ability to make everyone feel included and he’s a real credit to Under Down Under.

I was in Australia for 2.5 weeks, and this tour was undeniably the highlight. I would recommend Under down Under if you are keen to see a lot in a short time, are comfortable with staying in hostels / motels and travelling a lot on buses, and if you enjoy a good hike. If you do, this is absolutely the tour for you!

I had the best time on the Famous Five with Justin as our guide. The itinerary hit the big-ticket items like Cradle Mountain and Freycinet, plus many of Tasmania's top short walks, stunning waterfalls and beaches, and bonus stops like sunrise viewings and platypus spotting. Even in cold and rain I had a great time and saw a lot of wildlife. Justin was personable, entertaining and knowledgeable, accommodating all activity levels and going above and beyond, and he gave great advice for what to do after the tour. I took the affordable hostel multi-share option, which was social with functional kitchens and comfortable rooms — the only low point was the Launceston hostel, but that was one night of four. Highly recommend this tour and Under Down Under.

We were booked for an around Tasmania tour but unbeknown to us it's mainly for young fit people who love walking. My mother (92) and my partners mother (82) plus both of us on the other side of 60 and not in peak condition struggled terribly. Thank goodness our guide and best driver, Evan, made our trip enjoyable, well, as much as possible and we saw quite a lot of interesting places. Next time I will investigate more thoroughly.

Choosing this tour was the best decision I made while traveling in Australia. The 5 days with Justzen were absolutely amazing. He is an outstanding guide, always friendly, caring, and full of energy. The bus rides were long, but he kept us entertained with lots of stories about Tasmania, playing and singing songs, making the time enjoyable. He always put us first and made sure we were comfortable. I'm so happy and satisfied to have met him. This tour took us around the whole of Tasmania for 5 days, showing us unbelievable beauty. Just back from the 5-day Famous Five with Phil — the most wonderful time. Tasmania is so beautiful, and even with a lot of driving you never feel like you're on the bus too long. We saw a variety of landscapes and animals and the group was lovely. Phil was a fantastic guide — down to earth, chatty and up for a laugh — and you can tell how passionate he is about sharing Tassie. My only suggestion would be a confirmation email a day or two beforehand to confirm pick-up times.

Had an incredible five days in Tas with Justzen, best tour guide ever!! So knowledgeable and a lovely guy who looked after us every minute of the tour. Always spot on with food recommendations and managed expectations about wildlife spotting perfectly (bonus for getting us in with the wombats, wallaby’s, platypuses). The natural beauty of Tasmania was amazing; waterfalls, beaches (even got a dip in the Bay of Fires), rainforests, lakes, mountains, the works! The tour was very full on which was great for seeing so much stuff and getting very active, maybe the bus could be a bit more comfy though!

Brilliant tour, I highly recommend it! Beautiful Waterfalls, gorgeous views, crystal clear turquoise water at white beaches, impressive rock formations,... Each day was better than the last. I loved the different options we had each day so everybody could do something according to their fitness level. It was such a lovely and funny group, all kinds of nationalities and ages from 20 to 60 and everybody chatted with everybody. Transport in the bus and the accommodations were fine (I slept in a dorm). Except one little glitch in the accommodation in Launceston the tour was perfectly organized and ran smoothly from A to Z. Our Tourguide Tim was very knowledgeable and could always tell us some interesting facts about our surroundings, history, animal life etc.. He was very informative, funny, patient and knew his way around the route blind. I've never had a better Tourguide. Thanks for amazing 5 days!!!

We had a great diverse group of people and we spent the week doing so many cool hikes including cradle mountain and wineglass bay. Tim was very knowledgeable and great at pointing out animals such as platypus, wallabies, paddy melons, and an echidna!

We just did the Famous Five tour of Tasmania. It was fantastic.
We had Tim as our Guide and he was very knowledgeable about plants, wildlife, towns etc as we toured Tassie. He was extremely helpful to the group.
We had a mixed group of ages (21 to 78) and from many different countries. Solo travellers , couples and mates on the tour.
Everyone got on and had a few laughs.
There’s lots of walking, waterfalls and views as well lots of animals to see. There is So much to see and enjoy here.
Motel accomodation is clean and good on this tour, not 5 star and that’s ok, it’s clean and comfortable.
If I had one small gripe it would be that food in Strahan is either a rip off $42 a main at Hamers or The Kitchen ( sorry that’s Sydney /Melbourne Prices not a town of 700 people ) or barely average food at Molly’s or the Fish and Chips. So maybe tour operators need to reconsider this town. So for me Strahan was a disappointment.

The Famous 5 day Tasmania tour was absolutely fantastic — a great way to see a slice of Tassie, which rain or shine is incredible. Tom is the best guide hands down; he made us all feel safe and comfortable and shared his knowledge and guidance (good taste in music, poor taste in footy teams!). Don't expect glam accommodation, but be grateful you're in the wilds of wonderful Tassie.

I did the 5 day - Famous 5 - Tour. You’re driving around the Island in 5 days, from the west to the east coast. We saw all important and great things and visited beautiful spots. I really enjoyed Tasmania and loved it over there.
Unfortunately our tour guide, Natalie, wasn’t great at all. She was really rude and disrespectful to the group. Especially if you have trouble speaking English.
Nevertheless I recommend this tour to everybody. Especially I you don’t have much time or no possibility to rent a car.
And the company already responded to me, that there are going to do something about the situations with our tour guide.

“Famous 5 tour- showcasing the best sights in Tassie”
The most amazing experience lead by the most awesome tour guide Evan. I was a little apprehensive about going to Tassie on my own, but under down under had been recommended by a friend and this tour really exceeded my expectations.
Each day we packed so much adventure into the day, so many beautiful sights to see, the weather was perfect.
So many lovely people on the tour, there were lots of solo travellers like myself as well as some couples. Mixture of ages of travellers in their 20s, 40s and 60s and older. Each day the activities had options for more strenuous or more energetic activities based on what you were wanting from the day and your energy/ ability levels.
Our guide Evan made sure we were all looked after, and that we had our “squeeze the lemon” ( toilet) stops. Evan also entertained us with lots of interesting facts about each area we went to. He made sure everyone was happy and safe on each excursion and was always friendly and chatty.
And for those that love coffee there were plenty of coffee/bakery stops.
For vegans like myself, there were limited options for food in regional areas . So recommend taking your own,or downloading the happy cow ap. There was a great cafe in st Helen’s that did have some vegan options, otherwise grab yourself something from the local IGA or pie face. Having a list of where to get vegan food would have been handy so check online before you go.
The whole tour showcased many of the best parts of Tassie, I made lots of friends on the tour, which being I’m a mature traveler ( mid 40s) I was a bit concerned but I need not have been.
We stayed in backpackers accom and it was really good too. No problem there. However you can opt for a single room or motel accom for an extra fee if you don’t like sharing a room. All round an amazing trip and I can’t wait to do another one with this company !

I've just returned from this trip and wanted to gush about it to keep the experience alive for a bit longer!
I went solo on this trip, but was immediately made feel welcome by our wonderful tour guide, Evan, and the rest of the group. Met such fun people who really made the experience even better! The sights ranged from rainforest waterfalls to mountain lakes to the turquoise of east coast waters. There was so much to see and I can't believe how much we managed to pack in in just 5 days -- yet without ever feeling rushed or short for time! They really know what they're doing, and years of experience running this tour really shows.
And a shoutout still for Evan, who was all smiles and positive energy throughout the whole trip. He would tell us interesting stories about the locales, about the flora and fauna -- and he was also great at informing us about the plans for the days (where we'd grab food, where we could take a bathroom break), so it was easy to plan ahead. He was genuine and you could tell he loved his job. His energy was infectious. We got incredibly lucky with the weather, but I have my suspicion that Evan had some hand in that, too... Wouldn't put it past such an A+ tour guide.
This is such a great way to get the highlights of beautiful Tasmania in a short time, while also meeting like-minded people to share the experience with. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely loved this Famous 5 tour! In just 5 days we saw loads and still had some evening exploring time. Evan was a great guide — full of good information and making everyone feel welcome and cared for. We had a range of ages, and he ensured there were options for everyone. I chose the hostel accommodation, all great, and Evan told us ahead what facilities each had so we could plan meals. The hikes and views were gorgeous, always with harder or easier options, and we got lucky with lots of wildlife — wombats, pademelons, wallabies, peacocks, echidnas and more. Really enjoyed it; I'll be back!

A fantastic 5-day tour with our guide Tom — engaging, caring and full of great insights, perfectly balancing excitement with enough downtime to relax each day (ending around 5pm). It's energetic, so a bit tiring, but absolutely worth it. The only downside was the van seats, which could be more comfortable. Highly recommended — 5 stars!

We did the Famous Five as a family (parents and adult children) and I thoroughly enjoyed it — beautiful sights, well organised, hitting great highlights (in five days you make some choices about what to see). Our guide Evan was fantastic — enjoyable, informative and very patient — and our group was lovely. There are different walk options for a wide range of abilities. A few things to consider: the first-day pick-up around Hobart felt a bit long; the accommodations are modest but clean (the Strahan Holiday Retreat was the exception, though Strahan was a great stop, and we liked Launceston and Bicheno); and the bus is small (fine unless you're very tall). Overall a great trip and very good value — I'd recommend it to anyone with limited time in Tasmania.

Unfortunately the Tassie 5 tour has come to an end. I had great days, with a super fun group and a great tour guide. Tom always approached the group with a lot of calm and respect. He had a lot to say and talked with passion about the beautiful nature reserves, the animals and the inhabitants of Tasmania. He took the time to get to know everyone and made you feel like you could say anything to him! There is alternative routes you can take catered to all fitness levels! We also evaded the rain from the start towards the end of the trip! We were persuaded to do this by our daughter, and at 65 I feared I was too old for the physical demands. I was wrong. It was superbly organised with options to suit your ability. Our guide Keygan was the absolute best — a consummate professional, superb driver, with vast knowledge and palpable enthusiasm; we all enjoyed his company immensely, and the trip exceeded our expectations in every way. We chose the motel option: basic but perfectly clean with everything we needed. The only slight issue was limited food choices in the small towns, but we didn't go hungry. Would I travel with Under Down Under again? You bet — especially with Keygan!

I decided on this trip almost on a whim in November and it was a great decision. Even when our bus broke down, he got us going quickly and made sure we missed almost nothing. I'd booked the 5-day and added a 6th day to see the Tasmanian devils. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Tasmania!

This tour is definitely the best way to see Tassie. I did the five day tour with my family (husband and two kids aged 13 and 17) and we all loved it. Keygan, our tour guide, was brilliant - he kept everyone organized, took us to some beautiful spots away from the normal tourist route, kept up some very informative and interesting commentary, drove the bus beautifully and kept us all safe on our varied hikes - he even cleared the road of a fallen tree which was blocking our path! All the accommodation was basic but comfortable and there were plenty of stops along the way to stock up on food and snacks. I can highly recommend this company and tour.

If you want to cover all the best spots in Tasmania, I would highly recommend this tour. We covered a lot of ground but nothing was ever rushed. We had plenty of time in each location to explore. Our guide, Tom, was fantastic. Very enthusiastic and passionate about what he does. He was conscious of the varied abilities/fitness levels of travellers and made recommendations accordingly. He was very knowledgeable, and super-friendly! Could not have asked for a better guide. If you have the money, I would highly recommend going for the motel accommodation as the hostels/backpackers are very basic. Excellent value for money regardless!

Just got back from the 5-day tour. We visited great places, did beautiful walks and saw amazing things (penguins, dolphins, waterfalls, nature). The tour guide Josh was very nice and informative. We had a great group, did funny things in the evening (trivia quiz, theatre). The accommodations were also very good. I would certainly recommend this tour.

For such a small Island, there is a lot to see in Tasmania. By driving in a small van with an excellent guide, there’s no better way to get up close to nature: Mountains, Beaches, Waterfalls, Rainforests, and a lot more.
Our group of 16 was very fortunate to have Tom as our guide and driver on the 5 day tour all around the beautiful and surprising Tasmania. Tom, always with a smile on his face and wearing shorts when the rest of us were bundled up as Spring had just started, was a proud local showing off his Tassie home. Tom gave us lots of history along with personal stories to bring meaning to the many places we visited. He was knowledgeable of the animals and plants, interesting, engaged, passionate, and spent time getting to know each of us.
While there was a lot of driving, it’s the only way I could imagine to be able to visit so many National Parks, hike to see waterfalls, and get close to the unique animals of Tasmania.
This was a great tour with a great tour leader. I highly recommend you spend 5 days with Under Down Under Tours especially if Tom is your leader.

Highly recommend this tour! I did the Famous 5 with Tim and Josh, the best guides ever — walking encyclopedias full of energy, and you can feel how much they love Tasmania and their jobs. All the hikes and walks were beautiful, the oceans fantastic, and the motels my family stayed in were great. Thanks for the great experience!

I am so thankful and satisifed with my experience on the 5-days tour of Tasmania with Under Down Under Tours. We were a smaller group (14 people + guide) with lovely people and our guide Anthony was the best tour guide I have ever had. He showed us all of his favorite spots in Tasmania and he was so open to all of us and you could really feel how much he loves Tasmania which we all also ended up doing. Fantastic — I wish we'd had time to upgrade to the 7-day. As a Queensland couple in our 40s visiting Tassie for the first time in winter, we had no idea what to expect, but the rainforest, beaches, lakes and walks were amazing. Our guide Keygan was fantastic, and having hard and easy options for walks was great. We took the optional Strahan harbour cruise, the 'Ship That Never Was' play and the Bicheno penguin tour — all highly recommended — and upgraded to comfortable motel accommodation. Definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed every single moment, since the beginning it was easy to get to know the rest of the crew..some of them became friends and certainly will meet them again!
Anthony, our guide tour and bus driver as well, has such a good knowledge about every single corner of Tasmania! I couldn't ask for a better character to show us what the local communities are about, he really knows how to entertain people with his stories..

An amazing experience — I did the shorter western-Tasmania segment ending in Launceston and was really impressed by how well planned it was. An excellent tour to explore Tasmania — I did the Super 7 in mid-March as a solo traveller and had a fabulous time. KP guided the first five days and Rob the last two; both were friendly, professional and knowledgeable, with so many facts about Tasmanian history and wildlife, and they made everyone feel safe and welcome. We saw amazing places — white sandy beaches, forests, waterfalls, lakes and breathtaking mountains — with plenty of stops and good restaurant recommendations. I stayed in shared hostel accommodation, basic but clean. Highly recommend Under Down Under to see the real Tassie beauty!

There were 24 of us on the bus from all over the world and we made many new friends. We hiked a lot and saw so many beautiful parts of Tasmania. We never knew how diverse this island was. It's a time commitment but worth it!
I did the 5-day tour with Keygan, an awesome, knowledgeable and friendly guide. It was great to see and do so much around Tassie, and my favourite parts were the hikes with amazing views and all the animal sightings.
Wow — I was on the 5-day tour and am amazed at how many sights we took in. Our guide Justin was wonderful, knowledgeable and a great driver; we saw and did so much that 5 days felt like two weeks. Do yourself a favour and take this tour — you'll never see so many places on your own. Our group of 24 was diverse in countries, backgrounds and age; I'm in my 70s and travelled with people in their 30s. Fantastic!

Tassie welcomed us with fantastic weather over the five days — clear Cradle Mountain views, nice hiking, considerate toilet stops every hour or two, and a knowledgeable, humorous guide. “good tour company but long days of driving”
We did the Famous 5 with the motel option (private room with bath); most passengers took the backpacker option. This tour is geared a little more toward backpackers, as breakfast and lunch are bought at local bakeries or supermarkets, with those stops timed so backpackers can also get dinner supplies. It's very reasonably priced even with the motel option compared with other companies on a similar route, and I liked the optional alternatives if you don't want to do a hike. We enjoyed the Gordon River cruise, and most passengers saw the Strahan play. The days are long with a lot of driving, but well organised.

We did a 5-day bus tour around Tasmania and saw lots of top spots and beautiful scenery — Bay of Fires and Wineglass Bay were favourites. Justin, our guide, did an awesome job looking after us and sharing local knowledge and history — a really nice guy and good driver. Happy to recommend this tour.
A really well put together 5-day tour (first 1.5 days with Wombat, then Justin) — you see so many beautiful places and the timing is impeccable; I couldn't have reached half of them travelling on my own. The group and both guides were great. One suggestion would be radio headsets so the commentary and music come through like an audioguide, with only essential info on the speaker, as I sometimes found it tiring to listen to everything.
The trip was very well organised, and I especially liked that there were different walking options for every wish and fitness level. Lauren was a great guide.
Pros: a great, complete tour, Justin is awesome, we got an upgrade at one accommodation, and the first five days are really complete with a cool group and a great time. Cons: the guide changed for days 6 and 7, one of the day-tour add-ons was cheaper booked directly, and the Hobart hostel check-in was very long.

A great trip led by KP. Early starts but lots of activities and locations to fit in. We were a varied group age wise but everyone's needs were catered for. Plenty of humour and fun facts and a great playlist was provided by KP.
I have a knee injury and I was kindly loaned a walking pole. The need for sufficient water was stressed and there were less strenuous options available.
The trip does not include meals so if you have particular dietary needs bear that in mind.
The tour covered most of the Tassie highlights so you certainly get 'the feel' of this State.
If you are short on time I thoroughly recommend this tour.

An absolutely brilliant 5 day tour with Keygan. We had a fantastic time, feel like we saw so much but never rushed. Keygan is probably the best guide I have ever had on a tour - knowledgable and fun, without overloading you. And clear and concise with plans and instructions on when to buy food, where to stay etc. The group bonded really well and the bus was comfortable. I would 100% recommend this tour!

“5 day Best of Tassie tour”
We saw so much and had a great time. We chose the motel upgrade and the properties were good quality with comfy beds and 2/3 had toaster and crockery for Own breakfast. When we added up the cost of car hire, fuel, accommodation, park entries, plus time saving the tour was so worthwhile. Our guide Courtney was fantastic, always accommodating and helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Traveling with a mix of age groups and mostly Aussies (due to Covid) we all got along well. Highly recommend this option if you have limited time and want to see the highlights of Tassie. We will be back to see more in the future. Well done Under Down Under!
I did the Famous 5 — great places to visit and a very informative guide. The bus is a bit small for a group of 23, so it gets bumpy and a little claustrophobic at the back, and one accommodation wasn't great. But the places we visited more than made up for it, and I have great memories of the trip.

So many positives it's hard to pick a favourite. The nature walks were brilliant, with flexibility to take trails I could manage; Bay of Fires was awesome and the 'Ship That Never Was' play fabulous. Misty is an excellent tour leader — I had a lot of fun and would book another tour. My only disappointment was the cramped bus legroom.

The best 5-day tour in Tassie! I met a group of lovely people and even experienced my first Bollywood dance with them. A shout-out to our awesome guide KP for making us feel safe and having fun throughout. Cradle Mountain was the highlight — I'd recommend everyone see it at least once.
“Connecting to the nature and people!”
Misty created an experience on another level! The tour covered all main national parks in Tasmania including the beautiful Cradle Mountain, Bay of Fires and Wine Glass Bay and you’ll surely discover breathtaking views you rarely find in other places. What I loved the most about the tour though was how close all the participants got towards the end of the tour. Our tour guide Misty made us “family” and we all learned a lot from each other.
I’ve joined many tours before but I’ve never felt so comfortable and connected with people on a tour. We ended up spending our New Year Eve night together after the tour was over and it became such a memorable night as well.
“Wonderful Tour of Tasmania”
I took this wonderful tour with James December 14-18, 2018. I was picked-up at my hotel on time and we began our 5-day journey. The vehicle in which we drove around the country was good although the space between seats was a bit slight for tall people, where the knees were in contact with the seat in front (I am just under 6-feet). But, it was not too bad and I dealt with it painlessly. I do wish the vehicle had had overhead racks for stuff but, again, we each dealt with it; a less than filled vehicle certainly helped. The choices of places to visit were quite varied and seemed appropriate for seeing and learning about this highly varied place. Hikes were excellent with appropriate time given. The hostels we stayed at varied but ranged from I'd say very good down to certainly acceptable. Sleeping and bathroom accommodations were all acceptable, which is something I worried about a bit! The leader, James, was knowledgable and most friendly. The group, which ranged in age from 17-75, was fantastic! It was the best group of my month-long trip to Australia; this tour was the longest of my trip, which might have made a difference in giving time for getting to know people better. The hikes provided wonderful opportunities to get to talk with individuals and get to know them. There were sufficient bathroom breaks. Various countries represented included Australia, US, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Holland, Japan, China, Viet Nam! Hard to beat that. Sure, I expect a few other choices might have been made but I do not know what they might be. Thus, I recommend this trip highly.
I was really looking forward to the trip and wasn't disappointed. Our guide was friendly, open-minded and always in a good mood, and the route was well chosen.

“Heartwarming Tassie memories!”
Doing the "Famous 5" tour with Justin was definitely the highlight of our family trip around Australia.
I used to be a bit skeptical of group tours, but not only did we go home with so many memories of beautiful places, but also with a warm heart after what felt like a trip with a big family. We were a full group (24 people) of a wide range of ages, and Justin always went out of his way to create a great atmosphere and make sure everyone had a great time. He has a deep knowledge of Tasmania's nature and history and kept us entertained with stories, anecdotes, and great music.
We would go on another tour with Justin anytime, anywhere, and I would recommend it to anyone!

“What an awesome tour it was”
This was the first time I was travelling in a group tour as mostly in the past I have done only travelled as solo traveler or did a day tour. The experience from this tour has been so great that I am thinking of doing more such tours in future.
Keygan who had been our guide throughout this tour was very polite, humble, very knowledgeable, humorous and friendly. All the tour mates were very friendly and humorous. I made new friends which is great. The best thing about this tour with Under Down Under was that they had taken to places more than I expected and cost of your was reasonable. Apart from that, accommodation was good and everyone were very well taken care of.
Now I am back in Brisbane but feel like going back and doing the tour again. I would like to return to tour with Under Down Under in future.

What an awesome 5-day tour we had! Surely the best way to see the best of Tassie including loads of amazing views, wild animals and scenic drives.
Bonus: a tour guide like Justin makes your holiday definitely a memorable one! The amount of info he was able to provide along the funny stories and comments was just amazing, made the drives go by so fast too. We also loved the accommodations. Every single one was well equipped and clean, food options and grocery runs were always planned well and clearly communicated.

Living in Sydney I figured this was a great tour to do to get away from the hectic lifestyle and enjoy Tasmania. Sid was our tour guide and I can honestly say after the five days that my head is packed with new information. So much knowledge in one human brain, thank you Sid.
We were offered options for basically all the different activities based on difficulty so there were always something to choose from.
Incredible scenery throughout and always small pit stops for toilets, stretching, filling water bottles, etc.

I just finished the Famous 5 and the whole experience was amazing — we saw all the main spots with rich information about each. The “Famous Five” Tour of Tasmania was brilliant, covering most of the Island with walking options at each location. Misty was amazing as our tour guide creating a great atmosphere and bonding the group of 24 so well.

“Best Tour Guide”
A tour with Misty is one I'll miss greatly — I enjoyed her commentary and poems, and her cheerful, friendly personality brought the group closer and made the trip more enjoyable. She has great knowledge of Tasmania, and a bonus was the Australian BBQ she organised in Strahan, where our group cooked and ate together. She's extremely helpful too — when I misplaced my handbag at a Sheffield cafe she collected it and delivered it to me in Singapore, even after the trip. Thanks Misty for an unforgettable, helpful experience!
I did the Famous 5 and it was amazing! The accommodation, the places they took us and how organised everything was were nothing short of exceptional. A big shout-out to our guide Misty for making it wonderful with her knowledge and fun-loving zest for life. Highly recommend!

“A brilliant experience”
I have to start by saying this was one of the most memorable and enjoyable tours I have ever been on.
During the 5 days we saw so much beautiful scenery, did some energetic and picturesque walks and hikes through rainforests, across beaches and up mountains.
Our guide Matt was friendly, knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to meet. I was lucky enough to be at the front of the bus on our last day and we had some great banter.
The tour group consisted of different nationalities, backgrounds and ages but everyone seemed to get on so well and I personally met a few who will remain as true friends way beyond the end of the trip.
Overall highlights were the walk around Cradle Mountain, seeing a wombat cross the road and even watching a bizarre play in Strahan.
I can’t recommend this tour highly enough and the experience will stay in my heart forever.
A very great experience — our guide Misty was a real entertainer over the famous five days, and despite her young age she did her best to keep everyone informed and entertained.

This was one of the best backpacking trips I've done. The guide Matt was one of the main reasons why the whole trip went so well. Knowledgeable, humorous, and fun are a few words to describe him. The trip was well planned out with all the necessary arrangements in place. The stay at Strahan was truly memorable because of Bumpy. I met some wonderful people in the group, making the experience of the whole trip truly wonderful. I have recommended Under Down Under to other friends looking to make a trip to beautiful Tasmania.
“Fantistic 5 Day Tassie- What a Trip!”
An amazing trip! Five days jampacked with Walks, Climbs, Lookouts, Waterfalls, Lakes, Beaches, Animals, Cruises, Tall Trees, History, Conservation, Fresh Produce, Wine, Theatre, Fine Dining... we did it all under the expert guidance of Ian Cordwell. Ian personalised the tour to individuals, which I, as the least fit member of the group, really appreciated. :) The days didn't end early for Ian- he was always available to make sure we were happy, and this was much appreciated. We couldn't be happier with our 5 Day Under Down Under Tour- thanks very much to a great local company for a fantastic Tassie Experience. Support them- they are awesome, and much, much better value than hiring a car!
“Thoroughly recommend”
Famous 5 tour. Joined this in November 2022. It was a full tour, 24 people, of varying nationalities and age range (25-78). The tour guide was a girl called Misty who was absolutely brilliant in managing, driving and communicating with the group. Full days from 7am to 6pm which made the most of the time available. Thoroughly recommend as a tour to see the best of Tasmania.
“Great trip!”
This was an amazing trip. We had Phil as a tour guide and he worked hard to make sure we had a good time. I was a single traveler and booked this tour because I heard it had a backpacker vibe, and was happy to find about 10 other single travelers around 20-30 years old. We got to see so much of Tasmania in a short period of time. The group made meals together on some nights, and we all got together a few days after the tour as well. My highlight was making it up to Marion's Lookout at Cradle Mountain We all had a great time!! Thanks, Phil and Under Down Under!
“Wonderful tour with the best guide”
A wonderful experience with our lovely guide Misty. In five days we swam in the Tasmanian ocean, hiked an alpine mountain and saw rainforest waterfalls, learned local history and spotted plenty of wildlife. The activities and accommodation suit all types of travellers — our diverse group of 20- to 80-year-olds all came away really satisfied, and we bonded and shared meaningful moments. Misty always welcomed us with a big smile and was ready to help however she could. Totally recommend.
Wombat — 10 stars! He made our 5-day tour through Tasmania, so glad we went. Full of knowledge, a good driver and so kind, he knew each place in detail and told us everything. I just got back from the 5 days tour of Tasmania, visiting from ouest to east! Such beautiful and different landscapes. I absolutely recommend this tour if you want to see things that you will nerver see somewhere else ( Tasmanian devil, hurry up, this specie is in great danger of extinction).
Comments from the tour guide were complete and interesting!
Breakfast were shared but not the meals, that's my only regret.
But defenetly go for it!!

“Perfect tour of Tasmania thanks to Rick and Under down Under”
We were a couple visiting Australia from Catalonia and wanted to get a taste of Tasmania. Our 5-day tour with Rick (under down Under) was excellent. We had a group of about 20 people and our experience was very good. Rick was really fun and easy-going, and explained to us lots of things about the culture of Tasmania. In spite of the fact that some days the weather was not optimal he cheered us up and proposed alternative visits and walks. We really appreciated it. In short, a highly recommended experience in Tasmania and its great landscapes!
The Famous 5 was amazing! Our guide Doc was really experienced and super fun, helpful and ensuring we all had a good time in Tassie. The itinerary was arranged nicely with enough rest between the long-walk days. Definitely loved the national parks and ice creams!
“Nature and wildlife!”
Perfect tour of the island for backpackers. Plenty of hikes to beautiful scenic spots such as waterfalls, beaches, and mountains. Basic hostel accommodations and light breakfast provided. Also, we had the chance to interact with Tasmanian wildlife and there was an option to see penguins come ashore one evening. I loved the group I was with--all twentysomethings from all over the world. Would definitely recommend, especially to younger travelers!

Our family of four booked the Famous 5 day tour and it was fantastic — cold in winter, but a lovely experience. We chose the motel option and all four nights' accommodation was very good, some better than where we stayed in Hobart. Our driver/guide (they call him Wombat) did his job very well — a big thank you — explaining the history, weather, and the Indigenous people and history. A very worthwhile trip covering three-quarters of Tasmania, and the rainforest tour was a great, unusual experience.
“Spectacular trip”
I think it was the best way to see Tasmania. We four girls had a lovely tour with lots of fun and we got to know all the facets from beautiful tassie. We would definitely recommend this tour. Rick was the best tour guide and looked after the group very well.
We did the 5-day, 4-night tour of Tasmania, and from boarding the bus to the airport drop-off it was all go! From nature walks and group trivia (we came 3rd of about 8 teams) to the winery, local cheese factory, river cruises and the perfect motel accommodation, we couldn't ask for more. Our tour driver was exceptional — ridiculously informative, kind and attentive, the best driver ever. Just one teeny suggestion: a bigger, comfier bus for next time!
“5 day tour arnd Tasmania”
This was a wonderful short tour operated by Under Down Under tours. Our tour guide Lee (or Leigh), picked us up as scheduled and we joined a small group of 14 ppl from different countries in a small minibus.
Lee was full of interesting tidbits and showed that he really loved Tasmania and his job.
The group was fun and friendly and most important no idiots that made the group late or caused problems.
The different places we visited were all pretty interesting and the optional extra Gordon River cruise was worth it. Wife enjoyed the Nature reserve the most, as we could get close and personal with a cute Wombat, Tassie Devils, Roos and Quoll.
The only little complains I can think of, were the seats in the bus and lack of cupholders in the bus. Seats could be a bit more comfortable. Other than that it, was a veey lovely way to spend 5 days
“Amazing time in Tasmania”
The best way to see Tasmania. The tour guide Darcy was very friendly and had a fantastic personality. By the end of the tour we were one big family regardless of age differences. There were some challenging walks but we were able to go at our own pace and were well looked after. Everything was explained really well so we had a good understanding of the history. This tour is well recommended.. we were all sad to leave..

My husband and I did the 5-day taste of the Tassie Tour with the best tour guide we have ever had Darcy. Darcy is a vibrant, fun, hilarious informative, and interactive guide who made the trip exceptional. The places visited were very scenic and beautiful. We stayed in hotel accommodations and all were of great quality. Highly recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough you will get Darcy as your guide
“Explorer 5 trip”
Me and my friend took the Easter Uni break and traveled Tasmania through Under Down Under. I’m so glad I did this trip with you guys. The gorgeous national parks, Marion’s lookout and omg the cute kangaroos, wombat and Tassie devils, it’s so well planned.
I would like to say thank you to our tour guide Matthew. He showed us the unique parts of different towns, told us interesting stories and ‘scary safety warnings’... He’s such a nice and thoughtful guide!
I like how the tour would give us different hiking options so you can choose according to your own physical condition. Also, the bus ride is fairly comfortable as it allows regular toilet break.
This is definitely the company I recommend.
“5 Day Best of Tassie”
My wife and I recently took this tour with Under Down Under.
Highly recommend!! Was a great way to get a whistle stop view of this beautiful place. Just enough time taken in each place to get a taste of it without feeling rushed.
By far the highlight was our guide Darcy. We were admittedly blessed with a great group of people on our tour with whom we clicked with from the first day. But the way in which Darcy facilitated us getting to know each other by being open herself and encouraging group interaction was great. She was attentive and ensured to consult with the group regularly to ensure we all were happy with where and how things would run day to day. The information from Darcy as we went along on tour was interesting and informative without being boring. Felt like cruising around Tassie with a group of old friends. Take note Under Down Under you’ve got a great asset in this guide!
Great value for money tour for the backpacker or anyone who wants to see a lot of Tassie in a short time on a budget.

The highlights were the National Parks - Gordon- Franklin, Lake St Clair, Cradle Mountain, Freycinet etc. Tasmania has a unique landscape, and we were given an opportunity to explore it.
We had a lovely group of 18 people of mixed ages and nationalities, and that was another highlight for me. I enjoyed the backpacker experience, but if you are looking for five star accommodation this tour is not for you. We bought our own food, but were given the opportunity to buy fresh local oysters, amazing ice creams and Tasmanian baked goods. Even when it rained, our days were full of interest. Thank you particularly to our guides Tim and Ian who made sure that everything ran smoothly. They were always patient, informative and pleasant.

“The ONLY way to see Tassie on a shoestring”
I'm a Sydney-sider and have been wanting to see firsthand whether this alien land across the Strait lives up to all the hype, so I booked the “Taste of Tasmania” tour with two days to spare and laced up my hiking boots. I wasn’t disappointed…
Despite the name and the ‘basic’ style of this trip, this tour is more than just a taste of Tassie – it’s an eye fillet steak. The best cut of the state. And, fortunately for our tour group, it was paired with a fine red wine in the form of an exceptional tour guide, Evan, whose knowledge, enthusiasm, sense of humour and good spirit were the perfect complement to round off each juicy morsel. He is easily the best tour guide I’ve ever travelled with.
Evan guided us through the various must-see attractions of Tassie, starting in Hobart and travelling north to the pristine wilderness of the Tarkine Forest (think fifty shades of GREEN) before moving along to get our hike on at Cradle Mountain, where there were different options for the varying fitness levels in our group. Other highlights included sunning and swimming at The Bay of Fires and hiking at Freycinet National Park (Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach). Again, this was all accompanied by insights from Evan, which is not something you would get on a self-guided tour.
Being in my thirties, and having left my dorm room days behind in my twenties, I was reluctant to return to this style of travelling, but the rooms were comfortable and cosy and accommodated a maximum of 6 people. We also had a great group of 15 people ranging in ages from 25 up to 61, which quickly eliminated any concerns I had about this being a young, Contiki-style tour.
I’d recommend this trip to anyone travelling solo or otherwise wanting to experience Tasmania's natural beauty and do some hiking. It is exceptional value for money, especially when you compare it to some of the other tours through Tasmania (most of which are over $2k).
I’ll definitely be back again soon for dessert!!!
Top tip: Make sure you pack lots of layers, a thick jacket, a beanie and a rain jacket! Tassie is COLD, even in summer.
“Top Trip”
We had an amazing time with Wombat (Gaz) as our guide, he was so knowledgeable about flora, fauna, history and the local attractions. I am so glad we chose this tour with motel upgrade, rather than try to drive ourselves and organise everything. There is no way we would have seen so much or covered so many kms by ourselves in such a short time. Its definitely a busy 5 days, but gave us such a good overview of the main attractions, and we will definitely be back to Tasmania.

Evan, our guide, was fab. He knows his stuff, has oodles of energy and was a genuine pleasure to travel with. He made sure everyone was comfortable and had a good time, anticipating our needs before we knew we had them so everything went swimmingly.

“What an awesome tour it was”
This was the first time I was travelling in a group tour as mostly in the past I have done only travelled as solo traveler or did a day tour. The experience from this tour has been so great that I am thinking of doing more such tours in future.
Keygan who had been our guide throughout this tour was very polite, humble, very knowledgeable, humorous and friendly. All the tour mates were very friendly and humorous. I made new friends which is great. The best thing about this tour with Under Down Under was that they had taken to places more than I expected and cost of your was reasonable. Apart from that, accommodation was good and everyone were very well taken care of.
Now I am back in Brisbane but feel like going back and doing the tour again. I would like to return to tour with Under Down Under in future.
“Amazing Tasmania”
Our tour guide Rachel is so nice and friendly. She is very knowledgeable about Tasmania. The tour itself is packed with adventures and really worth it considering the cheap price. I've met some awesome people of all ages in the tour which is a plus. Some parts of the tour felt a bit rushed and i feel like i didn't have enough time to take in the new places. The hostel at Launceston that we stayed at didn't have an accessible powerpoint in the room so that was pretty disappointing cause I had to use my powerbank to charge my phone but it wasn't enough for the next day. Other than that this tour is good value for money and you get to see a lot of Tasmania in 5 days.

His knowledge and insights of the places we visited was awesome, giving us tips and options along the way of towns , natural wonders we went too and was extremely helpful with any questions we had along time way. The places we stayed in where comfortable and the local communities we met along the where lovely. The group was great , some fab! connections made. My parents and I did the 5 day trip. Our tour guide Evan was very knowledgable and took great care of all 24 of us! We were the only family among lots of young backpackers but we had the best of times and made some good friendships along the way. The adventures were amazing and the memories from the trip are unforgettable! This tour is such a great way to explore the entire island.

I had a great week on this tour. We were able to cover alot of ground in a short time and see many beautiful locations. Lush rainforest, waterfalls, hikes, beach, and wildlife!

Accommodation at the hostels were good and comfortable.

“5 Day Tasmania Tour”
Under Down Under provided the perfect taster to my first Tassie trip. We saw and experienced so much that I could not have done it on my own. Our tour guide Courtney was exceptional! Given that she is a Tasmanian girl now living interstate, she had a wealth of knowledge but was also just as excited as we were to see the sites. Courtney gave us options and was always professional in her dealings with us and the broader community. While she must have been exhausted, she provided an outstanding and fun tour.

It was an amazing tour package ( reasonable price, visited many many popular towns, restaurants, coffee shops, seafood restaurants especially hiking at famous mountains at Tasmania.

“Such a wonderful trip”
Before joining this tour, I hadn't expected that I would have such an amazing experience like this ! Although the weather wasn't good but I did enjoy the activities :D. Our driver was great as well ! His name is Sharby. He had a good sense of humor and took a good care of us. The accommodations of 4 nights were fine if compered to the price, it was reasonable ! We went to the 7 must-see Tasmania attractions. Wineglass bay and Cradle mountain are my favorite places ! The view is breathtaking and magnificent. If you look around everything is just like picturesque ! I couldn't stop taking pictures even if I took the same view hahaha. I love it so muchhh !! For those who are still thinking or hesitant to book this tour, I assure that you won't be regretted to explore Tasmania with Underdownunder !
“GREAT TOUR, GREAT EXPERIENCE!”
Hi there, I'm Steve from Brisbane, Australia. This was my first visit to Tasmania I wasn't sure what to expect.... I have to say I really enjoyed my experience. For such a small place there are so many magical sights to see. It was great meeting new people not only on the tour, but the locals were always more than happy to have a chat. I found my tour guide (Sid) to be a wealth of awesome information and knowledge with the history, scenery and wildlife during my tour. I found the 5 day duration to be just right. After debating on whether I should have done something shorter, I'm glad I took this tour as it covered all major highlights.

We got a nice blend of outdoor activities like hiking and swimming in the morning and cook-ups and dinners in the evening. It was an amazing tour package ( reasonable price, visited many many popular towns, restaurants, coffee shops, seafood restaurants especially hiking at famous mountains at Tasmania.
This was my first time to Tasmania but taking this tour I had chance to experience a lot of things in Tasmania, culture, history, beautiful natures and seafood in Tasmania….
I was enjoyed every single moments of each day tour. It was an amazing experience in Tasmania through this Tour package to me. I had so many beautiful memories from this tour which I can’t share all by words…!

A great way to get a huge amount of sights into a week with energetic and friendly tour guides, great information and explanations and an insight into Tasmania history.
“Super 7 Tour experience”
Completed the Super 7 tour in November 2021. Five of the seven days our group was with Ian. Ian was extremely professional and knowledgeable about every activity and hike we did on those five days. He put in his extra touch on every place we travelled to by first explaining the history of the place and how it linked with the previous activity. He also accommodated all of our additional requests. I had to make an important phone call on a packed day with limited reception and he was able to provide me a time and area for me to make that call. Furthermore, he helped the group immensely when deciding on what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I had a great time on this tour, especially at cradle mountain and wine glass bay. I would highly recommend under down under if you are looking for a way to explore most of Tasmania in an efficient way.
“Fantistic 5 Day Tassie- What a Trip!”
An amazing trip! Five days jampacked with Walks, Climbs, Lookouts, Waterfalls, Lakes, Beaches, Animals, Cruises, Tall Trees, History, Conservation, Fresh Produce, Wine, Theatre, Fine Dining... we did it all under the expert guidance of Ian Cordwell. Ian personalised the tour to individuals, which I, as the least fit member of the group, really appreciated. :) The days didn't end early for Ian- he was always available to make sure we were happy, and this was much appreciated. We couldn't be happier with our 5 Day Under Down Under Tour- thanks very much to a great local company for a fantastic Tassie Experience. Support them- they are awesome, and much, much better value than hiring a car!
“One of the best trips”

This was one of the best backpacking trips I've done. The guide Matt was one of the main reasons why the whole trip went so well. Knowledgeable, humorous, and fun are a few words to describe him. The trip was well planned out with all the necessary arrangements in place. The stay at Strahan was truly memorable because of Bumpy. I met some wonderful people in the group, making the experience of the whole trip truly wonderful. I have recommended Under Down Under to other friends looking to make a trip to beautiful Tasmania.
Under Down Under's western Tasmania tour was excellent. Tim was a fantastic, very knowledgeable guide, and we fitted a lot into each day.
“Top Trip”
We had an amazing time with Wombat (Gaz) as our guide, he was so knowledgeable about flora, fauna, history and the local attractions. I am so glad we chose this tour with motel upgrade, rather than try to drive ourselves and organise everything. There is no way we would have seen so much or covered so many kms by ourselves in such a short time. Its definitely a busy 5 days, but gave us such a good overview of the main attractions, and we will definitely be back to Tasmania.

Travis, our guide was amazing. His knowledge and insights of the places we visited was awesome, giving us tips and options along the way of towns , natural wonders we went too and was extremely helpful with any questions we had along time way. The places we stayed in where comfortable and the local communities we met along the where lovely. The group was great , some fab! connections made. I would definitely recommend Under Down Under Tours for those wanting to explore the breathtaking nature that Tasmania has to offer.

“5 Day Tasmania Tour”
Under Down Under provided the perfect taster to my first Tassie trip. We saw and experienced so much that I could not have done it on my own. Our tour guide Courtney was exceptional! Given that she is a Tasmanian girl now living interstate, she had a wealth of knowledge but was also just as excited as we were to see the sites. Courtney gave us options and was always professional in her dealings with us and the broader community. While she must have been exhausted, she provided an outstanding and fun tour.

“5 day Best of Tassie tour”
We saw so much and had a great time. We chose the motel upgrade and the properties were good quality with comfy beds and 2/3 had toaster and crockery for Own breakfast. When we added up the cost of car hire, fuel, accommodation, park entries, plus time saving the tour was so worthwhile. Our guide Courtney was fantastic, always accommodating and helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Traveling with a mix of age groups and mostly Aussies (due to Covid) we all got along well. Highly recommend this option if you have limited time and want to see the highlights of Tassie. We will be back to see more in the future. Well done Under Down Under!

“5 days of tassie”
It’s probably the best way to explore Tassie! During the five days you get the chance to see the wide spectrum of Tasmania. You always have weather depending opportunities and even if it’s cold and rainy it’s still beautiful and definitely worth it! Along the way, our tour guide Rick taught us a lot about Tasmania, took care of everybody and did a great job! I would definitely recommend this trip to my friends!
“Famous 5 Tasmania Tour”
We have recently finished the famous 5 tour of Tasmania and had a great time on the trip. The tour is perfect for people to get a taste of Tasmania and see many of the different environments it has to offer. From the rainforests of the West coast to the Bush in Freycinet National Park the tour really has something for everyone and does a great job of catering to the different fitness levels of the people on the tour. Our tour guide Rick was fantastic as well, he was enthusiastic about the whole trip putting a smile on people's faces all the time as well as providing a great commentary about the areas we were visiting allow us to all learn something along the way. The accommodation on the trip was good as well especially the stay with Bumpy at Strahan Backpackers. Overall a great trip we would recommend to anyone.

Our tour guide, James, is super nice and friendly to everyone all the times. There are elders, hard listening people, and single traveler in our tour. We attends 5days tour. He is the guide and also the driver for 5 days. I feel the working hour is very long, but he treats everyone patiently always!!
The tour is well-organized and the stops are all the most famous sightseeing. The accommodation are all clean. Tour includes the breakfast. It saves our time to prepare in the morning. In the end of each day, James takes us to supermarket to buy food for the dinner and accommodations all have kitchen for use. Of course, it's easy to find restaurant around the accommodations if you are lazy to cook by yourself.
It's fun to travel with who are from a totally different background and age. Guide must be a plus in this tour!!

The tour is a little rush as you don't get too long in each location, it feels like a tick box exercise of the things to see in Tasmania. Some of the accommodation on the tour is interesting with quirky hostel managers and guidelines.
The tour guide (Storm) was very informative and thoughtful, making an effort to make sure everyone was ok and comfortable.
“Famous Five Tour”
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to go to Tasmania! This tour goes both to the West and the East coast of the island, offering the most incredible scenery and views. This includes a lot of hiking, usually with a hard or easy option offered. There is also the option to go swimming at a lot of places, I highly recommend that!
The itinerary of the tour is great but what made the tour so awesome was our tour guide, Evan. He was very helpful, knowledgable and funny! A lot of driving and early mornings were involved but Evan somehow managed to always be in a good mood and he also provided us with some great tunes on those long drives.

“Must not miss in Australia”
Homestly was the best tour I have done in Australia. Having done pretty much everything else Aus has to offer, the famous 5 tour of Tassie really gives you everything you want out of coming to the state. Climbing to the top of Cradle mountain was a personal highlight and swimming at every chance we got. Staying at Bumpys hostel for the first 2 nights really brought brought the whole group to together with how welcoming it was there. If anyone does this tour then make sure to get onto the one with Evan as your tour guide. Best tour guide I’ve had in Aus and is genuinely the coolest and most chill guy, more like a mate showing you around for 5 days and hanging out with you the whole time but also being so informative about all of Tasmania. Also he had some top jokes to dish out.

“Famous Five”
The Famous Five was the perfect amount of scenery and hiking. Options throughout the tour made it perfect for everyone, from casual walker to marathon runner. Our guide, Evan, was excellent. He clearly knows the island well, and had great recommendations throughout the tour.
Definitely recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see the most of Tasmania in a short amount of time.

We had an enjoyable trip. It was relaxing as we had a good guide cum driver. Matt is very good with the local history and was able to recommend good places to dine in. We had a fun group and everybody was cooperative and punctual. Our guide is very polite, well mannered , responsible and tries his best to accommodate us. We could joke with him, tease him and have nice conversations too. Our requests for music onboard was granted. We cracked jokes and he interacted well with all of us. This trip by Under Down Under is good.

“Fantastic”
We took this wonderful tour with Matt Februar 14-18, 2019. We were picked-up at our hostel on time and we began our 5-day journey. The vehicle in which we drove around Tasmania was good although the space between seats was a bit slight for tall people, where the knees were in contact with the seat in front. For me was wonderful cause I'm 1,72 Mts. The hostels we stayed at varied but ranged from I'd say very good good. Sleeping and bathroom accommodations were all acceptable till good! The leader, Matt, was knowledgable and always friendly. The group, which ranged in age from 19-60, was fantastic! It was the best group of my trip to Australia; this tour was the longest of my trip, which might have made a difference in giving time for getting to know people better. The hikes provided wonderful opportunities to get in touch with each oder and to know them. Of course HIGHLIGHT was "Matt" our Guide, he was really gut informed and helpfully, he explained us each Name, Corner and way we are very happy about this opportunity to know Tasmania with a very professional and top Tourist guide. We will of course highly recommend this tour to all the people we meet.

I really enjoyed the opportunity to see some amazing places in Australia- it’s a very beautiful country. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and made the tour experience unique.
Jacob was the best guide — so enthusiastic and fun to be around, going out of his way to make everyone happy on the tour.
Chris was very friendly and knows lots about Tasmania. The tour even provided a festive Christmas dinner, and we visited beautiful sights and did stunning hikes.

I just came back from the Famous 5 (5 Days) Tour. IT WAS TASMAZING!!! I have done lots of tours in Australia already and this was honestly one of my favourites! Tasmania itself is just beautiful. We saw parts of the west coast and also the most important spots on the East Coast. I really liked that we had plenty of time at each of the spots so we were flexible. There was the chance to do lots of hikes and everyone could choose a hike that suited personally. The breakfast was included, not lunch or dinner. But at each spot was the possibility to purchase groceries at the supermarket to prepare a cheap meal in the accomodation (and plenty of options to dine out). Thanks Under Down Under for this awesome experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!
“Wish I could have stayed longer”
It feels like a lifetime ago! But it was a great trip - I only
wish that I had been able to stay for longer and actually this was a
mistake, I should have done the whole 8 day tour.
Ian, our tour leader was exceptional and really made the difference. I
guess he works for your partner in Tasmania? His knowledge and kindness
and humour but also his leadership in getting things done and on time -
all exceptional. It was great fun. The small vehicles were great too. I
would highly recommend the tour.
My only feedback would be that the cost of the single supplement seemed
too high and I know that this was a grievance felt by several of us on
the tour. I am 45 years old and a seasoned traveller and spent many
years staying in hostels and low budget accommodation. I have no issues
whatsoever with doing so and the accommodation on this tour was
perfectly adequate. I didn't take the single supplement offered at time
of booking as it was so expensive. However, one night I upgraded myself,
as there was a serious snorer in my group and the simple single room
that the YHA host gave me cost an extra $20 - seemed super reasonable.
We realised that in many of the places we stayed in that this would have
been the case. In Launceston one of my fellow travellers was very angry
as the prices she had paid for her single supp upgrade as it would have
been much cheaper to go directly to the hostel and get the upgrade that
way. I would use you again if this were the case but in fact some of the
options I have looked at give me a single supplement at lower prices.

We were a bit older than the other travellers. We have been on tours with the fancy upmarket stuff with somebody looking after you every step of the way.
Our tour guide Robert was entertaining (dry laconic wit) knowledgable, and caring.

The only negative comment would be that the transport provided has more comfortable seating with back pockets for storage of water bottles etc whilst on the move.

I had a wonderful trip to Tasmania - I really loved it. I had a great tour group and all of us had lots of laughs! Weather was superb with the day we were at Cradle mountain at about 30°C! You can't ask for better!
I don't really have any feedback to offer because I really thought the tour was well run i guess if you had to twist my arm i didn't realize i could do day tours with you guys out of Hobart - so the only thing i could offer is that on your tour advice page when you state we start in Hobart if you could have links to your day tours to like Port Aurther and the day trip down to MONA - and you know you might already have that it could be i didn't look closely enough!
But otherwise our tour guide was great (Leith) he had great knowledge was happy to chat to all of us and answer questions. Accommodation was mostly great. Tasnmania was beautiful! I'd def score it 4 out of 5 - and the only reason i didn't give it a 5 out of 5 was probably Launceston accommodation - and it wasn't terrible it could just do with a little updating - it was really hot and stuffy (not really their fault just summer and a hot day that didn't much cool down at night - rare i'd say for Launceston!) and i thought the bathrooms were a little under the weather - and we didn't have a microphone in the bus which did mean sometimes it was hard to hear Leith when giving instruction in the bus but it wasn't really an issue as he would always make sure we knew what we were doing and seeing and if we asked questions he was really good about answering them and everything - so it wasn't an issue but just as an overall feedback.

The trip was fantastic and I would score it 4.5.
Every thing was great, but for the meals and accommodation. It seems that no chances to enjoy famous Tasmania seafood in a proper restaurant there and that’s a pity for me.
If the accommodation could be a Twin-bed shared room, not bunk bed dorm, that would be great, too. No one wants to sleep in the top bunk apparently. There is an old gentleman,73 from Japan who is forced to sleep in the top bunk because the young guy in our tour didn’t want to go to the top. Or, if the dorm could be no bunk beds, that would be also much better.
I definitely will go to Tassie again because there are still so many other beautiful places to explore!

Loved the tour! I ended up adding on an extra day last minute and regretted the fact that I had to catch a flight after that because I would have loved to stay on for the last two days of the tour as well. Paddy was an excellent guide, I learned a lot, made a bunch of friends and had lots of fun.

The tour was allot of fun. We had A combination of A great guide (Bruce) and A fun group. The days were well spend and full of cool things. We recommend this tour to anyone that goes to tassie. The hostel of the 3e night was not so great. A huge kitchen but no supplies to make anything. ( like pots, pans and silverwear)

“The trip was great!”
The trip was great! I give a score 3 out of 5. Unfortunately I think more meals can be include, at least the first lunch, the only place where we can eat for this lunch is pretty expensive (around $10 for just a sandwich), and it’s a bad start for a trip. Otherwise the bbq was yummy, the guide nice and walks and landscapes amazing!! Also, I expected only people aged from 18 to 40, but we went only a few young people it's made 2 groups in the group it’s a pity.

The tour is great. My friends and I enjoyed the trip very much.
But one thing i would like to make a compliant. From the information on your website, it is a small group tour with maximum 16 people. But come out it was 24 people group tour. Then the 25p Car is comparatively small, with 24 people plus tour guide driver, 25 seats were fully occupied. It was very uncomfortable, especially for those big, tall and long legs.
