Accommodation
- 2 nights in standard hotel rooms. The first is a pre-night at Kingfisher Bay Resort on the western beach, with full access to the resort and an afternoon at leisure. The second is at Eurong Beach Resort on 75 Mile Beach, in a recently renovated room with a private kitchenette and a balcony or patio. Rooms are dorm share, Private room upgrades are available.

“Great and Bad”
I took part in a 3 Day K’Gari Getaway tour in June 2026. This is my review:
Day 1. Mainland Arrival, ferry to island and night at Kingfisher Bay Resort
This went very smoothly and Kingfisher was an excellent place to stay. Good rooms, food and a great environment.
Day 2, 3 travelling.
This aspect was truly wonderful. The itinerary was good, the bus itself was nearly new and impressive. Taylah was our guide. She was warm, cheerful and kept us informed and amused throughout. In addition to that she was a very good driver on some challenging tracks. In summary she was a total delight.
Day 2 accommodation K’Gari Beach Resort.
After the excellence of Kingfisher and Taylah’s bus journeys I found this resort a shocking disappointment. The rooms that were assigned to us were very basic without heating or cooling. I had to search out a heater from the management. The restaurant was closed for refurbishing though we were fed adequately, in a basic setting. There was no entertainment or activities available. I was reduced to my IPad until 7.45pm when the internet failed. Management explained that internet was unreliable in the block to which we were assigned – a pathetic explanation in this Starlink connected age. Overall, especially when compared to the class of Kingfisher and the bus, my experience here was awful.
“Kimgfisher Bay Beauty Spots Day Tour”
We enjoyed the day tour from Kingfisher Bay Resort going to Lake McKenzie, Central Station, the wreck on the eastern beach and Eli Creek. Plenty to see and do and great value for money. It is the best way to view all the hot spots in a short time. The tour guide, Taylah, was exceptional, providing a wealth of useful information on the history and the local environment in an informative and friendly manner. The trip would not have been the same without her - a real asset to the organisation and to the guests on this tour.

We had the most incredible 3 day tour to Fraser Island! Everything we saw was breathtakingly beautiful! The tour was very well organised and our guide Mark (Sarge) was fantastic. His knowledge of the island was absolutely incredible and he made all explanations very interesting. He is super kind and caring. We loved that he arranged a table for the whole group so we could have dinner together (if we wanted to of course). I’m scared of every creepy crawly, snakes, the lot! However, being led by Mark made me feel very safe.
Thank you so much K’gari explorer tours, but especially Mark, who made our trip- you deserve all the recognition and credit! An asset K’gari explorer tours.

“Wonderful K'gari Trip”
We stayed 2 nights a Kingfisher Bay Resort and 1 night at K’gari Beach Resort. Both resorts had the good breakfasts, beautiful pools, big bed-rooms. The free transfers were arranged nicely between the airport to the ferry then to the resort for both ways. The tour was great, our tour guide was also the professional driver. Mark Sarge drove us smoothly and safely on the roads, explained details places to visit and dropped us the tourist attractions, arranged nice lunches, afternoon tea, and spent extra time with us to take photos with the milky way. With his experience, we had 2 times to spot Whales, a few times to see dingoes. As a group of 4, we enjoyed the tour very much. Big thanks to Mark!

“An adventure of a lifetime in an unbelievably beautiful place”
What an amazing adventure, from the moment we checked in at the River Heads reception everyone was really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. However the standout person was our guide Keith, his knowledge of the islands history, folklore, geology, wildlife and natural beauty is immense all delivered in an interesting way with depth and humour. He peppers all of this with a diverse music playlist ranging from traditional Aussie tunes through Greenday and on to AC DC ! Fantastic. Keith took us to all the must see locations and ensured we had time to enjoy them all. His driving was brilliant, motoring along 75 mile beach will stay with me forever. Thanks Keith for the best trip.

Abosolutely fantastic tour of the island with so many sights to see and Blair was super informative about them.
I will be coming back and bring my other family with.
If you are wanting to see more of Australia and don't have a four wheel drive you should definitely do this.
FYI there is many opportunities to swim so wear your togs and there is a 5km walk along a track with steps to see Lake Wabbi but you do not have to do this if you are unable or do not want to.
I would also strongly recommend doing the small plane ride to see the island from the sky, it was absolutely stella.

He also responded to the wishes of the group and was prepared to change the program spontaneously, also with regard to the weather. He did a great job!

“A great experience, educational and a fabulous tour guide!!”
I wanted to do this tour for so long but didn’t want to camp out, this was the perfect alternative.
The tour is basically the same as the two day getaway tour except the first night you stay in the kingfisher resort hotel. The sunset cruise for the evening was fully booked so I missed out on that and watched the sunset on the beach instead but it was gorgeous. I couldn’t do any of the walks or trails because I was on my own so in hindsight I would just do the 2 day getaway and save myself a few $100’s.
The 2 day trip was so fun, the island is absolutely beautiful. The weather was gorgeous. The hotel on the 2nd night was nice too! The food provided was nice and I treated myself to a steak at the beach resort which was so tasty!
Also the tour guide Andy noticed that I was travelling alone and spoke to me the whole trip, he was so friendly and full of knowledge and funny stories. We all joked that he was our ‘holiday dad’ (he doesn’t know this) because he had the group so well looked after and everything organised! It’s very clear that he loves what he does and works very hard! We got lucky with this driver and guide!
The order of the itinerary changes depending on circumstance but it worked out really nice for us!
The only negatives I can think of is that communication isn’t great, I had to email to get my booking documents as I booked through a third party and received an email from the resort with the wrong date. Then I had to guess where I needed to be on the morning of the second, and at what time as you aren’t told specifically. Also the backpacker deals website I booked through says that you receive two breakfasts and two lunches but you only get 1 breakfast and 1 lunch - the same as the two day tour. It should also be clearer that this tour is in a coach and not the small 4 wheel drive vehicles and it says max 30 people on the trip but the max is now 40. Anyway, super pleased I invested and went on the trip!
“K;gari 4 Day / 3 nights Experience Tour departing Hervey Bay”
We did the K'gari 4 Day Experience Tour in December 2022. Picked up from our Hervey Bay hotel by very friendly guys and taken to Ferry to cross to Fraser Island. Stayed in Kingfisher Bay Resort and found we had the room over the 3 nights so could leave luggage there when we went away to Eurong Beach Resort (now K'gari Beach Resort) for a night. Only taking our small wheelie bag and beach bag we started our 2 days full of adventure in our 4WD big blue bus. Lake McKenzie is something amazing for a swim in pure water so unique. 70 mile beach's golden sands is the east coast of Fraser Island freeway which we whipped along to great spots like floating down a fresh water stream to the beach and a nice lunch was provided. So many things even a flight taking off from the beach if you wanted. I an only thank our driver Steve for his patience, knowledge and the easy going friendly way he took us to all these places. The day trip was fantastic and our tour guide Martin was great he is a man that knows everything about Fraser. Only one thing I was disappointed in was the lunch it was cheap and nasty so don't think you are going to get something lovely because your not. I think if you pay a lot of money for a trip you deserve a nice lunch.

We did the K'gari 3 Day Getaway Tour with Warren. It was the best way to see K'gari without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We learnt about the history and got to experience Champagne Pools and Lake Mackenzie. Highly recommend and can tick K'gari off the bucket list.

We definitely made the most of our time with our outings (highlights- Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek and Lake Allom with the turtles!!!!) and the food was delicious as well :) definitely don’t doubt it and just book!! We had such an amazing time on the tour and couldn’t recommend it enough! Couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Jamie. As we were a small group of 8 he did basically everything for us, was relaxed and friendly. There was always more than enough food and nothing ever felt rushed. The camp itself was v comfortable. The island itself is beautiful and we loved going to the beach in the mornings before the days activities to watch the sunrise and we saw heaps of whales going past. 10/10, if you’re thinking about going then definitely do!

“A fantastic 3 day trip with great facilities”
Had a great experience with this tour over the weekend. The tour guide (Jamie) is easy going, knowledgeable and a very good cook. We all had more than enough really tasty and satisfying food. He gave great camping tips for other trips and let us do what we wanted to do.
The campsite itself is really well equipped for all camping needs, with a fire, extensive cooking equipment and games to play. It is right behind the beach and a short walk from a great sunset spot.
All in all the tour was really enjoyable and I'd recommend anyone goes with this tour.

Great experience with Joel as our tour guide. The food was great, and the campsite was nice too. We particularly loved the 'rave cave' for night time parties. Couldn't recommend Pippies enough! Walking sand dunes & swimming in amazing lakes with your new-found friends in the tour group, camping with your friendly neighbourhood goanna, camp-fires with marshmallows and a talented guide Joel who plays guitar & sings some awesome hits, star gazing on the beach .... and the rave cave, down away from camp-site, is a whole lot of fun too!

Nathan is an amazing guide and is so laid back and has the perfect manner! It was a really well planned trip and Nathan was always flexible to change plans depending on weather/crowds at each area. The campsite was a lot better than I expected and you are provided a mat, sheet, sleeping bag and pillow. The showers and toilets are in a general campsite and were perfect. There was lots of food including pancakes for breakfast, cookies with lunch and fruit also. There was a really lovely community feel within the group with taking turns driving and helping with cooking dinner. You are given lots of time at each stop and have the freedom. Once you get back to Rainbow Beach you can also use the facilities in the hostel which was great before heading on the next bus.

We LOVED our trip!! Jamie our tour guide was fun, knowledgable & so easygoing it honestly felt like you were on a holiday. Both my friend and I are gluten/dairy free & he went above and beyond to accomodate our dietary requirements. The food was incredible and not once did we feel like a “hassle”. We met some amazing people and the whole tour was perfectly set up so everyone got decent/fair amount of time driving the 4WD.
“Highlight of East coast”
25 and 30 YO couple. I was worried we'd be too old for this tour but it was incredible, brilliant mix of 18-35 year olds. Great atmosphere, opportunity for those to have a drink in the evening if wanted but no pressure to do so. Tents were clean and spacious... Keep the inner shut and u won't make any spider friends! Great shower and toilet block which were cleaned each morning. Pack lightly, there isn't much space in the car for big bags. Loads of food and there's a shop near the tents if you need snacks. Tour guide Scott was amazing- I told him I was nervous to drive but wanted to give it a go, he found an appropriate spot on wet sand for me to try and I loved it. He was great at directions and kept a close eye on all the cars at all time. Saw loads of dingos and the swimming spots were just incredible.
It's been the highlight of our east coast trip so far, made some amazing friends and great memories... wish we could do it again.

Such a good tour. Nate was a hilarious guide and was super chilled and allowed us tons of free time while also keeping us informed about everything. Jamie is an absolute legend and made our trip, the place is amazing nothing we’ve ever seen before.

! It made seeing all of Fraser Island seemless! Our tour guide Nate made everything run smoothly and he was so laid back and chilled, it made everyone relax and have fun! We saw so much in the 3 days and all got a chance to drive the 4WD if we wanted which I highly recommend! The campsite has running water, toilets and hot showers. Definitely the best way to see Fraser Island.

This was by far the best trip on my east coast journey. We started off in Pippies hostel where we met our amazing bunch of people and our fantastic tour guide Jamie. This man is an absolute legend. He was such a laugh and a wealth of knowledge. The tour was so well ran and so organised. The food was delicious I couldn’t fault it at all. We went to so many amazing places like lake Mackenzie, champagne pools and Eli creek. We got to drive the 4X4 around the island which was so fun. I Would love to go back and do it again. Did to 3 day tour with our tour guide Simon. Even though it was his last tour of Fraser, he did not disappoint. He was full of enthusiasm and knowledge, wanting to show us everything including some great wildlife finds along the beach, inc a dead headless snake.
Accomodation we stayed in was really nice and the food provided was great. Both lunch and dinners were plentiful and the cookies were really good. I had a lot of these :)

“Loved every minute”
We decided to take the three day tour. Our tour guide Tom was great fun, well educated and knew lots about fraser island.
We were fed really well from start to finish. The food was really good..the cookies were just so delicious.
The trip was jam packed for the three days and we were not disapointed. Fraser island itself is gorgeous and has loads to offer. On day 2 we paid an extra $75 to take the plane ride over fraser. I would recommend this. We were delighted as we got to see whales in the sea fron the air. The view is also amazing.
The lodges were clean and cosy..we slept really well. We opted for the four bedded room. There were five rooms in our lodge and everyone staying there was on our tour so it was a great way to meet new people. We have been travelling now for over two months and this trip has been the highlight so far.
