Day 1: Explore Kangaroo Island
Your journey begins with an early morning pick-up from selected Adelaide hotels between 6:30–6:45 AM. Travel to Cape Jervis while enjoying expert commentary about the area. Board the ferry for a 45-minute crossing to Kangaroo Island. As you sail, enjoy a toasted sandwich and coffee (own cost) or head to the top deck to soak in spectacular views. If you're lucky, you may spot dolphins playing in the bow of the ferry as Kangaroo Island comes into view.
Upon arrival in Penneshaw at 10 AM, your group will embark on a scenic drive through this charming seaside town, known for its tranquil coastline and rolling hills. While we won’t stop here today, it’s a great place to note for a future visit.
Our first stop is the Cygnet River’s Duck Lagoon for a serene 15-minute Koala Walk. Stroll under eucalyptus trees and spot koalas lounging in their natural habitat. Keep an eye out for abundant birdlife as you enjoy this tranquil start to your adventure.
Next, visit Kingscote, the largest town on Kangaroo Island. Take some free time to relax, grab a coffee, or explore the foreshore at your own pace. Kingscote’s charming coastal vibe and quaint shops provide the perfect opportunity to unwind before continuing the journey.
For lunch, we head to the Kangaroo Island Brewery, a rustic and inviting property where you’ll enjoy a delicious platter lunch featuring local Kangaroo Island produce. Sample some of their craft beers while soaking in the scenic surroundings.
Our next destination is the picturesque Emu Bay Lavender Farm, where fragrant fields and a tranquil atmosphere await. Explore the farm, shop for unique lavender-based souvenirs, and take a moment to breathe in the relaxing aroma of this serene retreat.
Continue to Emu Bay Beach for a rejuvenating walk along its pristine coastline. Listen to the gentle lapping of waves and watch for dolphins frolicking in the bay. The soft, white sand and vibrant aquamarine waters provide a stunning backdrop for photography and relaxation.
Before the day winds down, we visit Stokes Bay, a hidden gem along the northern coastline. Swim in the calm, protected waters of a natural lagoon formed by a rocky reef, or simply relax and take in the breathtaking scenery. Watch for dolphin pods that often visit the bay, adding to the magic of this spot.
In the evening, arrive at Eleanor Downs Farm, your overnight accommodation. Enjoy a traditional Aussie BBQ dinner prepared in the rustic Old Shearing Shed. Feast on locally sourced meats, fresh salads, and crusty bread while sharing stories with fellow travelers around the fire pit. Vegetarian options are available. Choose from cozy glamping tents, single beds in shared tents, or sleep under the stars in a traditional Aussie swag for a unique experience.

Day 2: Kangaroo Island Highlights
Wake up to a delightful breakfast featuring local Kangaroo Island produce in the Old Shearing Shed at Eleanor Downs Farm. Soak in the tranquil farm surroundings as you prepare for another day of exploration.
The first stop of the day is Flinders Chase National Park, one of the island’s most iconic destinations. Marvel at the Remarkable Rocks, an extraordinary cluster of granite formations sculpted by time and the elements. Next, visit Admirals Arch, a natural rock bridge where New Zealand fur seals bask and play by the ocean. Enjoy breathtaking coastal views and immerse yourself in the pristine wilderness of this unique landscape.
For lunch, enjoy a relaxing picnic surrounded by the natural beauty of Kangaroo Island. This break offers a moment to recharge before the adventures continue.
After lunch, head to Little Sahara, a fascinating natural wonder featuring massive sand dunes surrounded by bushland. Adventure seekers can opt for sandboarding or tobogganing down the dunes (own cost), while others can take a leisurely walk across the shifting sands, capturing incredible photos of this surreal environment.
Next, visit Seal Bay Conservation Park for a guided walk along the beach with a knowledgeable ranger. Observe endangered Australian sea lions up close as they bask on the sand and frolic in the surf. Learn about their behaviors and the conservation efforts that protect their fragile habitat. This is a rare opportunity to connect with these incredible animals in their natural environment.
The tour concludes with free time in Penneshaw, where you can grab dinner (own cost) and reflect on your unforgettable Kangaroo Island adventure. Stroll around the picturesque town, explore nearby beaches, or relax before boarding the ferry back to Adelaide. The ferry departs in the evening, and you’ll arrive back in the city at approximately 10 PM, leaving you with lasting memories of an incredible 2-day journey.
