Discover some of Adelaide’s best-known sights, charming towns, wine regions and coastline on this relaxed full-day small group tour.
With convenient pick-ups from selected Adelaide CBD locations, the day combines city sightseeing, Adelaide Hills scenery, free time in Hahndorf, wine tasting in McLaren Vale and a scenic coastal drive through to Glenelg.
Start the day with a drive through Adelaide as your guide introduces you to the city and points out some of its best-known landmarks. Travel through the CBD, past the city’s parklands and historic buildings, with sightseeing through North Adelaide and around some of Adelaide’s key attractions along the way.
From the city, we make our way into the Adelaide Hills and up to Mount Lofty Summit, one of the best viewpoints overlooking Adelaide. Take some time to enjoy the panoramic views across the city and, on a clear day, all the way towards the coastline.
We then continue to the historic German township of Hahndorf, where you’ll have approximately two hours of free time to explore at your own pace. Wander along the main street, browse the local shops, galleries and boutiques, stop for a coffee or sweet treat, or enjoy lunch at one of the town’s many cafés, bakeries or German-style pubs.
After Hahndorf, sit back and enjoy the changing scenery as we travel south towards McLaren Vale, one of South Australia’s most celebrated wine regions.
Our first winery stop is Kay Brothers, a historic family-owned McLaren Vale winery. Enjoy a structured wine tasting at the cellar door while taking in the surrounding vineyard views and learning more about the wines and winemaking history of the region.
We then continue to Haselgrove Wines for another hosted tasting, where you can sample a selection of McLaren Vale wines and experience a different side of the region’s winemaking style.
After our time in McLaren Vale, we begin the journey back towards Adelaide via the coast. Enjoy a scenic drive through Adelaide’s southern coastal suburbs before arriving in Glenelg.
We’ll stop in Glenelg for approximately 15 minutes, giving you time to stretch your legs, take in the beach and jetty and enjoy the atmosphere of Adelaide’s best-known seaside suburb.
From here, you can stay on board for the return journey and drop-off in the Adelaide CBD, or choose to finish your tour in Glenelg. If you stay, you can spend longer by the beach, enjoy dinner, watch the sunset and make your own way back to Adelaide on the tram.
A great way to experience Adelaide in one day, combining city highlights, Adelaide Hills scenery, Hahndorf, McLaren Vale wine tasting and the coast.
